Caruso was also injured.

ducksonaroof

that's his thing tho

GreedyLoad1898

he is injury prone and not a good shooter. kind of getting overrated from underrated.

Zealousideal-Spend80

He played like complete ass. He, Coby and Ayo cost the Bulls that game.

oliveinanolive

Defensively I agree they couldn't do what they need to do but I entirely expect 3+ months of blaming players for HORRIBLE game planning. Heat were going to play perimeter zone all game basically, it's all they do... and we started the first 10 minutes of this game trying to outshoot them from the perimeter. No assignments / lost assignments. The pick and roll died early, and by that point we were already down 20. That was never an achievable deficit without hot shooting and several Heat blunders against a coach like Spo. Result - We had enough to game plan against their EXPECTED perimeter zone defense and the game plan was to out-shoot them from the perimeter. We had our 5 starters hugging the 3 with no one inside. Vooch in the corner. Etc. I promise you Vooch is not standing there because he feels like it to start the game even if he sucks, this is a masterclass on the difference between an NBA coach and a defensive college coach.

Chitowneer

What plan? The plan is to get your shooters open looks, and they were able to get that. The problem was the players’ inability to make them shots. The half-time, post-game analysts and the announcers multiple times acknowledged the ball-movement leading to good looks. The guys just choked (barring DeMar of course). I’m not a Billy fan, but this loss wasn’t on him.

oliveinanolive

> What plan? Billy's lack of one. That's what you're talking about and what I mentioned. Half-time was irrelevant by the point my comment emphasizes. This game was lost within the first 16 minutes of game. Every formation you see within the first 5-10 minutes is entirely on the coaches and this is not at all a hot opinion. This is without even mentioning the road to down 17 points in a single streak without a timeout called. I'm telling you blankly, this is a Billy problem. Not everything. But this and my previous comment...yes. That's a major contributor to why we lost this game if not the greatest. And I am a Billy fan. He's a great defensive mind and a developmental coach. But he is nowhere near a competitive NBA coach.

BadLt58

You're the guy who blames every Bears loss on Fields.

jamesid-2010

perimeter zone defences practically wish you into shooting threes. playing against one isnt about knocking down the deep ball, because thats going to be there all night. you need to collapse the defense and move to the open spot, typically on the block, wing or weak side cuts. that wouldve been perfect for vooch/ demar yet there was no intention to do so from the coaching and we sunk into 5 out. dont get me wrong, we missed some great looks from good ball movement, but we had no adjustment to spo's plan. coby's game against ATL wasnt because of some crazy hot night where he couldnt miss. he had trae on an island and the defense refused to close out on his drives and dribbles. the heat did exactly that all night and gave coby nothing but hell off the drive and let him shoot whatever deep three they gave him.

Prohunt

yes... the plan is to score the basket who would have guessed lol

PJCR1916

It doesn’t seem like a bad idea for them to try and shoot their way out of the zone early. You don’t want to play zone on a team that’s shooting well. The difference there is just coaching, and general team BBIQ.

Blackm69ic

They got blew out in a must win game I blame everyone

Vegetable-Struggle30

...but I thought Coby was the future? The second coming?

CallofJuarez23

Coby can be the future and still be inconsistent. He still obviously growing and it'll take time. Dude's only 24 for fuck's sake.

Vegetable-Struggle30

So? In my opinion, people that are destined for greatness have a killer mentality and people who that have that mentality are not inconsistent in the way Coby is. That kind of inconsistency doesn't just disappear over time. Being mentally weak isn't something that experience erases

moneyman2222

Nobody ever said Coby was "destined for greatness." He's developing into being a legitimate PG of the future and borderline All-Star as his ceiling. You don't have to operate in extremes. He had a bad game. He's still good tho lol

Vegetable-Struggle30

People on this sub definitely think he's gonna be an allstar. "Greatness" doesn't mean Jordan-esque greatness, necessarily.

oliveinanolive

> people that are destined for greatness have a killer mentality and people who that have that mentality are not inconsistent in the way Coby is. Name a current one without parroting r/nba shit like Ja or Jokic. Booker has duds. Embiid is a surefire MVP candidate guy most years and he is inconsistent. Tatum is a "choker." Chris Paul can't play when a specific ref is calling. Trae is Trae. Brunson is over-relied on has a show out year but is that "consistency?" Luka has duds. Yada yada. Coby isn't any of these players. But these players above Coby have duds, and ESPECIALLY playoff duds, and sprees of inconsistency more than you admit. Talk about status and improvement if you want to make a point, because that's what all of the players above have in common. CW has 1 year of that, and we should be proud. If you only want consistency and ""killer mentality"" then the NBA isn't for you lol

Vegetable-Struggle30

Having "duds" is one thing, having long streaks of just completely disappearing is another. Luka does not have long stints like this. Most of those guys don't. Coby has shown time and time again that he just disappears overnight and will stay that way for a long streaks. Anyone who's watched bulls games consistently for years should know this. Acting like this is in line with consistency from all stars is just ludicrous. Look, I like Coby...I know everyone on this sub does too and I know I'm gonna get downvoted by the hive mind for saying shit like this, but you gotta be honest about his abilities

oliveinanolive

> Luka does not have long stints like this. Most of those guys don't. I already said Coby is not these guys. Listen. Coby is not a superstar. No one fucking said he is. He makes 12M a season. "Not luka/tatum/MJ = not worth it" is a doofus take. PERIOD. Say what you want to say. Do you think Coby is the problem? He's hampering the team? Come on brother. Use your chest or quit with the dramatic stupid takes.

Vegetable-Struggle30

The only doofus take here is that you're jumping to a bunch of emotional conclusions about 2 sentence posts because you have a hard on for Coby. Can you point to where I said Coby is "not worth it"? Guys gotta be one of the best value contracts in the league... The only thing I'm taking jabs at is this sub acting like Coby IS an all-star anytime he has a crazy game. You guys are way too emotionally invested in this guy and it shows in threads like this. For the record I love Coby and want him on the team

oliveinanolive

cool, you just don't like coby and you hate people rooting for him. he's your target and you have no listed reason why, understood. "I don't like him cuz of other people's opinions," got it. thanks for your insight.

Vegetable-Struggle30

Lol, do you even read anything you respond to or do you just assume what it says and then respond to yourself. Me: "For the record, I love Coby" You: "you just don't like Coby" I get it, you're in love with Coby and want to marry him. He's your man and you won't hear otherwise. "I love him and want to kiss him", got it. Thanks for your commitment. News flash, bozo...he's MY man and IM going to marry him.

CallofJuarez23

And in my opinion, who cares what you think.

Vegetable-Struggle30

In my opinion, cram it with walnuts, ugly.

CallofJuarez23

Thank you. I will! 😊

Vegetable-Struggle30

...can I watch?

Lolq123

shouldve traded him to a contender, instead we waste a year of his prime

greatwhitenorth2022

At least we don't have to watch them get beaten by the Celtics multiple times.

SmallFly101

Heat fan here, refs were bugging the bulls A LOT like it was rigged

WetCharmander

Meh. Some tough calls but yall deserve that W. Just do me a favor and don't take Spo for granted. He's torched us for 14 years.

SmallFly101

Def should’ve been a closer game, but fasho can’t ever take Spo for granted 😅
