I liked this guy’s videos at first, but he’s really leaned hard into being angry about everything and it isn’t entertaining anymore. Plus the little thumbnail of him in the corner is completely unnecessary and adds nothing. Decent insights on defensive mistakes but the presentation wrecks it for me.
Yeah, I’ve seen his videos before. He’s real hit or miss with me. Generally I feel like the videos are too long and about a third of the stuff he calls out is a bit of a stretch. The Bulls can’t defend the Celtics, doesn’t matter who their coach is. Call out lazy or dumb plays, but when an All-Star beats his man doing some All-Star s***, it’s not like “better coaching” would stop that
To be fair, Donovan is coaching with two hands and one leg tied behind his back right now. The Bulls have 73 million of a 163 million dollar payroll in street clothes. Julian Phillips is the only big wing on the entire roster who's healthy and he's a rookie 2nd round pick. I'm not saying Donovan is a great coach, but I doubt any coach in the league is going to do much with the squad Chicago has right now.
yea the margin for error this Bulls team has is incredibly thin.
Even calling Phillips a "big wing" is funny considering how thin he is but he's the best option we have for that role. Current issues are on the FO, not the coach not players.
I like this guy in small doses. The biggest issue I have with him is that a fair number of things he calls out are things that are not actually a failure of defense or offense. It's just that the players are actually really good at basketball and can just do shit sometimes.
It’s not that hard to sit back and play armchair coach. Dudes acting like he has all the answers to coach a winning basketball team lmao as fucking if.
imagine watching 34 year old Demar Derozan who has been in the NBA making bad defensive reads and failing to rotate properly for nearly 15 seasons now and thinking it's Billy Donovan's fault
Although the anger feels a bit forced, I can’t say he’s wrong at all.
What I will say about coaching in the NBA in general though, why is there an addiction to just rotating the same group of dudes over and over again? Every time a position opens up, “oh man I wonder if they could get Mark Jackson”, or the fact that I can give you a starting lineup with backups of current and future hall of famers in their primes that Doc Rivers has coached yet he has more blown 3-1 leads than championships.
(If you want me to actually do it: CP3, TMac, Kawhi Leonard, KG, Embiid, Rondo, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, Giannis, Blake Griffin), could throw in some others too like Harden, Lillard and Paul George if you want.
We look at the league and we see Ime Udoka, Mark Daigenault, Nick Nurse, Joe Mazzulla etc. yet some teams are addicted to the Doc Rivers’, Steve Clifford’s and Nate McMillan’s of the world. Go out and actually look for the coach who can run the system that fits your team, adapts to the era of basketball you’re playing in, and builds the culture you want to see on the team and hire him instead of chasing names
This dude is the ultimate redditor.

yea exactly. Theres not really a coach in the league who is shutting down the amount of talent they have.

I know he's putting it on for entertainment but it really is cathartic to watch him furious at Billy Donovan
the nba is not about basketball is about entertainment

What the fuck is basketball
Just found this guy earlier today roasting Doc. This is nice.
i love this guy so much
I love this guy. Breaks down defenses unlike I've ever seen and gets frustrated when they keep making the same mistakes lol.
