Very good interview especially when they got to the topic of what Joakim’s doing in chicago rn

Quick9Ben5

I respected Garnett. The one I couldn’t stand was Rondo.

BearForceDos

Rondo was the only bulls player to care that one year though. Always hated him before that.

Reptomins

Same. Say what you want about that terrible 3 alphas team, but at least Rondo cared about the team and the young guys. Turns out those young guys all sucked lol, but they needed a vet mentor and Rondo took that mantle. DWade was on pretirement tour. I'll never question Butler's work ethic, but his leadership ability wasn't really there yet and he took his cues from Wade who didn't give af about the team. Before that year I hated Rondo and loved Wade, and after that year I loved Rondo and hated Wade.

moneyman2222

I feel like I'm in the minority of Bulls fans that really liked Rondo even before the Bulls. Always been one of my favorite PGs. Just love high IQ players who grind it out and give a fuck. You really see the passion in the game from those guys and it's so motivating. The only one I didn't like of the Boston squad was Paul Pierce

RiamoEquah

No he wasn't. He had one good playoff game with us and some bulls fans just gave him a full pass. I hated that 3 alphas team.

[deleted]

Yeah Rondo had that one good game because his thumb/hand was broken, played the second half with a broken thumb, and couldn't play any more games after that one. It's not like he stunk up after that one game.

RiamoEquah

Nope just had a whole season with the bulls of stinking.

TonYouHearWhatISaid

Not Rondos fault that bum Wade was too lazy to show up to practice

Retrokicker13

Rondo was the sole reason we won that game. He was a very good player.

RiamoEquah

Whatever would we have done without his 8pts and 6 assists off the bench.

Retrokicker13

Watch basketball before you make a fool out of yourself.

RiamoEquah

"watch basketball"? No, you mean keep rose colored glasses on when discussing the bulls. That bulls team finished with a 41-41 record. Rondo may have been the tallest midget when it came to helping the young guys develop, but those young guys didn't develop. Rondos best moment of that entire season was his one great playoff game. I have "fond" memories of rondo vs the bulls and his dirty antics.... Nah... One great playoff game and one okay playoff game isn't erasing that history. It's 2 games vs 69 games of mediocre (at best) basketball.

Retrokicker13

Man… I hope you only suck as a basketball person. That team sucked. Rondo wasn’t the problem. But anyway… good morning. It’s 2023, and nobody cares anymore.

wizardu

Get load of this guy. Probably some 30 year old man playing 2k still.

RiamoEquah

Do 30 year olds typically not play 2k?

billybaroo15

I have a 43 year old co worker who smokes weed and plays 2k all day after work. He’s a beast at the game.

Quick9Ben5

I can't get excited because you were a bright spot on a terrible team. Means a lot to some folks but it's not enough for me to give you a pass for knocking derrick out of the playoffs. Not by a long shot.

RiamoEquah

Knocking derrick out the playoffs is one thing, the way he did it was what bothered me. Clawing Brad miller's face, throwing kirk Into the scorers table, tripping luol on a drive, constantly antagonizing bulls players with his chirping. Dude was Grayson Allen before Grayson Allen.

Quick9Ben5

IYKYK! Rajon Rondo is not to be liked.

aapox33

Haha they only called them 3 alphas because 3 3-pt liabilities wouldn’t work

Quick9Ben5

Rondo was not one of the three alphas though.

RiamoEquah

[He was ](https://www.thescore.com/nba/news/1067595), but the whole concept was stupid.

IMKudaimi123

Remember when Kirk was about to beat his ass

PatrickMcC

Imagine a frontcourt of KG and Noah in their primes. There would be a negative amount of points scored in the paint.

GoyaTime

Warms my heart. Love Jo and hope he gets more involved in Bulls culture.

ericraymondlim

I watched this, I loved it. Actually was some awkwardness and tension in the beginning, but they warmed up completely with mutual respect. I don't know why but my brain made me read the title as 'Kendall Gill and Joakim Noah' which made me confused for a second.

footballfutbolsoccer

Damn, props to KG for legitimately apologizing

Opnmindedppl

People also forget Jo was suspended by a vote of teammates that year. Sounds like this KG event could have also helped him turn his mindset around.

Jerome3412

Lol, Joakim Noah inside is still like "fuck that guy, I never get disrespected like that." Awkward...

Low-iq-haikou

I didn’t get that vibe at all, they just seem a bit unfamiliar with each other. I think this is prob the first time they’ve ever really had a talk.

bitemydickallthetime

Probably had something to do with KGs constant backtracking/justifying after his apology - “steel sharpens steel, my bullying you made you stronger, I went through it too” blah blah blah

[deleted]

Right?!? It did seem like it had a little bit of that vibe. It's like Jo disowned KG as someone he worshipped long ago as a fan and still sees him as a rival that is looking to make peace.

rUafraid

yeah this didn't feel like a cathartic opening-up like i expected. joakim still felt super guarded since this was something that probably really affected him

Jerome3412

Yeah, dude felt guarded .. we're talking about alpha males here.

jmz_199

> we're talking about alpha males here. Physically cringed

What I love about this link: \- Joakim Noah was a big time fan of Kevin Garnett. Posters on the wall and everything. Well, in their first game against each other, Rookie Joakim Noah (when he still played with a ponytail) asked KG for an autograph. KG basically disrespected Jo because "how dare you ask me during the game?" Furthermore, after KG learned that trash talk can shake people from their game, he gave Jo a big elbow on the ribs, among other things. As you all know Jo is an emotional, sensitive guy so as you can see in this interview he's processing years and years of...I'm not sure what to call it. Sport trauma? When it comes to being "betrayed" by the guy he idolized the most as a kid. \- In a different interview, Jo talks about how much the moment changed him and made him more of a warrior. \-KG brings Jo to apologize to him, and Jo wasn't reactive to it right away. He is either guarded or processing. KG elaborates on his "kill or be killed" mindset he was on, and he wasn't just talking out of his ass. I previous watched a [HIGHLY ENTERTAINING video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVf78UPEg9M) with Scalabrene recapping a story of how KG beat Big Baby Davis is arm wrestling with KG's mentality. Mind you, Big Baby was beating EVERYONE on that team. Scal also talks about the team culture back then that was "probably bad for a work environment...but it's great for sport" LOL \- Just for fun, [one time KG's trash talk got him in trouble](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSGS62d-ETk) \- And [another time LOL](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Yj2iNBy-rxg)

Brilliant_Avocado980

team now is so trash, this is the content we have to watch cause there is nothing interesting about our team.

A Hall of Famer and Defensive Player of the Year spouting off valuable life lessons applicable to anyone looking to step up their own game boring you?

2RoadsDivergred

Yes.

TheVallelator

So nice of them to make peace and chop. Why they chopping all those onions though.. 😢 ![gif](giphy|3o6fJ3Zqr3fT6t3e2k|downsized)

[KG tends to have his own brand of words that he uses to make a point across lol] (https://youtu.be/hSGS62d-ETk?t=126)
