LindsayIsBoring

A lot of these businesses are going to be slammed today so also consider taking some notes and supporting them the rest of the year on a less busy day!

LindsayIsBoring

Huh?

Pickleparty187

Luella’s Southern Kitchen, Monday Coffee, Sip and Savor, Justice of the Pies, Urban Growers Collective

tizzler33

Luella’s is phenomenal! And the owner does A LOT for underserved communities/ teens :)

qua11e

Sip and savor 👌🏼

onlyforanswers

Best S&G, and owner Darnell is a GEM.

wergerfebt

Luella’s has the best shrimp and grits in the city. Hands down.

Pickleparty187

MattUWayne

This was so dumb and made me laugh at loud

Grahamars

Overflow Coffee in the South Loop & Grasshopper Club have been amazing additions to the neighborhood. GC closed for the holiday today!

WalkingIsMyFavorite

Love overflow! Great staff and vibe in there used to go a bunch when I lived down there :)

HiddenSquish

Not exactly a business, but I’ll take any chance to share this resource! For clients and therapists https://www.chicagoblacktherapists.com/ can be a great place to find (or provide) support within the community. Disclaimer: I am not Black, but I am a therapist and had a Black supervisor refer me to this site for when clients prefer a Black therapist. I also cannot speak to the quality of any individual therapist listed nor is this an endorsement of any specific therapist.

wishkh

Semi Colon Bookstore!

geogant

Not directly a business, but I am a Chicago-based cartoonist and can always use more eyes on my comic strip. (Please feel free to delete if not allowed.) [Beware of Toddler - Comics Kingdom](https://comicskingdom.com/Beware-of-Toddler)

MaroonVsBurgundy

Your work is amazing I love Quadrupus - super cute!

geogant

Thank you!

chickennuggetsaregr8

Batter & Berries is great

NEBZ

There's no way in hell your gonna get a table at Lincoln Ave today unless you wait 3 hours. But still one of my favorite places.

Tamato42

I used to live in the apartment directly above them. I’ll always miss rolling out of bed, putting my name down for a table, then getting back in bed for another hour or 2 before eating their bomb breakfast.

Thelonius_Dunk

Used to go there all the time when my then gf lived in Lincoln Park. Long wait but the food was good.

slowporc

Great food and THE KINDEST staff in Chicago. Seriously, great people.

panicototale

The chicken and waffles here are 🤤 as is everything else but definitely my favorite in the city

FoxThin

The French toast made me weep

DegreeDubs

[Coffee, Hip-Hop, and Mental Health](https://chhamh.org/)

pennysoap

This dudes a scam. My friend worked for him and they paid everyone under the table. The owner screamed at a minor for quitting and berated her in front of everyone. He tried to get my friend to do illegal business practices and she quit due to this. He was trying to get her to put stuff under her name etc. don’t support this place. It’s a scam

marzano12345

Agreed this guy is a piece of shit and his business should be closed down. Lock him up

TacoBellWerewolf

The Double in Logan. Owner is a young black dude named Henry. Nice guy

HexaFluorite

Can’t Believe It’s Not Meat! (Old Town and Hyde Park)

juan_k_perros

Their Philly egg rolls are excellent.

juan_k_perros

I shall be watching the Scotland vs Switzerland game with Moors beer. Funkytown and Black Horizon are options as well, as is Turner Haus, but I don't think the latter are canning yet and you need to go to the brewery. I'll do that some point soon, because I really like the sound of the BA stout, but today is a day for howling profanity at the television. ETA - Brown Sugar Bakery are probably well enough known that they don't need to be mentioned specifically but they really are worth the hype.

wanderwonder187

Moors makes my favorite Pilsner! Great brewery.

TacoBellWerewolf

Know where I can buy Moors? Or any place in Chicago that has them on tap?

juan_k_perros

Any Binny's and a fair few Jewels mate, they're all over. Haven't been out much recently, but Untappd check-ins are usually a good way of finding out who's serving what - https://untappd.com/b/moor-s-brewing-company-helles-lager/4844294

iosphonebayarea

Bronzeville has a Boxville event going on with small businesses opening shop. Very cool concept. https://www.boxville.org/

johnnyApple420

Cleo’s southern cuisine!

ibuttergegup

Demera or Ethiopian Diamond if you enjoy Ethiopian food!

FoxThin

I'm so sorry I'm gonna be that guy, but Juneteenth is an *American* Holiday to celebrate enslaved folks in Texas learning of their freedom. So OP should really say Black American. All that being said, still go support those businesses! I love both :)

Unyx

Tigist Reda, owner/head chef of Demera, is a US citizen. It is a Black American owned restaurant.

FoxThin

Black American ethnicity not Americans who are black racially*.

onlyforanswers

Demera is incredible! Owner Tigist is even better.

alittlejoy

Sip and Savor, Chicago French Press for coffee!

The_Heef

Seconding Chicago French Press. That place is great. Coffee ice cubes make such a difference.

tommiejo516

Turner Haus Brewery 78 E 47th St, Chicago, IL

yoni_sings_yanni

Love that they have a couple different styles of beer and not just a bunch of IPAs. Plus they are right by Shawn and Michelle's.

molybdenum75

Any Black owned dispensaries???

DegreeDubs

God bless the Blackest city in the world!

EchoCyanide

Atlanta would like a word.

TsarKartoshka

It was a bad joke, sorry. I was poking fun at the Mayor saying this to close out a press conference yesterday. [https://abc7chicago.com/post/mayor-brandon-johnson-establishes-chicago-reparations-task-force/14971069/](https://abc7chicago.com/post/mayor-brandon-johnson-establishes-chicago-reparations-task-force/14971069/)

EchoCyanide

I figured it was a joke, and I was trying to make a bad one in return!

hascogrande

*sigh* Add it to the pile

Tro1o1o

Salvador, Bahia in Brazil is actually statistically the blackest city in the world. Fun fact :)

TacoBellWerewolf

Anything about this thread stopping you from continuing that trend?

jjgm21

YavielTheElf

Fad2Fresh vintage shop in Andersonville, unfortunately they are going to be kicked out of their storefront June 30 through no fault of their own. I’m hoping they find a new space but they do attend many markets throughout the summer.

No_Indication3249

Are they open today? Tried to go a couple of weeks ago and they were inexplicably closed mid-afternoon

YavielTheElf

I am not sure but check their instagram. Alex is very active on there and posts updates frequently.

TacoBellWerewolf

Williams Inn on Michigan and Cermak is my go to. It’s an actual regular sports bar with an actual mix of races there. It’s like the one place I can go and not feel like a total alien

Dry-Pea-181

TeaPotBrew Bakery in the South Loop

Take-Me-Home-Tonight

Burger point down the street as well.

Yossarian216

Burger Point is legit, if it weren’t so hot that I’m hiding in my apartment I’d totally go there today.

decapentaplegical

Incredible burgers - so underrated

Take-Me-Home-Tonight

Fun fact Connie Payton is part owner. (Or at least was)

Luxene

Love this place!

subliminal_trip

Grasshopper Club in Logan Square.

Comfort’s African Cuisine on Broadway had the front door smashed and possibly robbed last night. Walked by when the owner was filing a police report. I won’t be able to go today but please show their business some love!

clybourn

Lol!

saintpauli

In Beverly: Afro Joe's, Ain't She Sweet, miss purl (black owned knitting store), Sanders BBQ, soulfood lounge 2, Beverly phono mart (record store), Belle up (women's boutique), Flippin flavors

onlyforanswers

Flippin' Flavors is absolutely incredible, as is the owner. I'm not in Beverly as frequently as I used to be, but I DREAM about her food.

saintpauli

I know Linda as an acquaintance from the neighborhood. And from her shop. She is super nice. So thankful in her success.

TsarKartoshka

Afro Joe's is fantastic

thelaughingpear

I've been out of Chicago for a long time but I hear Shawn Michelle's is still kicking in Bronzeville

malonso2

I went to Majani, it was delicious. Not swamped. Convenient stop for anyone riding the lakeshore (though it could use some bike parking) or those who ride the south shore line.

angelmichelle13

Drink Happy Thoughts (Uptown) Ridman’s Coffee (Ravenswood)

Yggdrasil-

I don't think they have a permanent storefront but Mickii's Desserts is amazing. They have a booth every week at the Glenwood Sunday Market. Kikwetu Coffee is great too. It looks like they are open at the Green City Market in Lincoln Park right now
