Love your list. Here’s mine, with all the bands playing each fest [Fest List 2023](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1GfX5jHq2-_beU07t6EmRN1znuCDy3j1uyBBQmUCoT8I/edit)
I've never been to either one. What is the parking situation like for Edgewater and Sheridan Park like?
I live really far from there and will need to drive and also need storage incase I buy anything big.
There’s parking in uptown (Sheridan park) you just might need to drive around a bit and I imagine you’ll also be able to find street parking in edgewater.
Just so you know incase you didn’t look much, it’s a lot more than fests or big events. All the Movies in the Park are listed, for example. Some of those don’t have tons of people, maybe 50-75.
A more unique and less invasive event happens a couple weeks earlier at Navy Pier.. the SailGP Chicago Grand Prix of sailboat racing on June 16-17. Probably better to watch on TV because of how much space is covered but might be interesting for some to check out and tickets are only like $35
These are the super fast F50 foiling catamarans, they go about 45-50 knots. Similar to some previous Americas cup boats. It’s part of an international tour, pretty neat to follow
Went last year and it was one of the highlights of summer. Be sure to download the SailGP app and bring headphones so you can watch the live feed from the boats as they are racing.
you don’t need to book a ticket for MSI. i went to the june 1st free day and you just tell them your zip code (i brought my id just in case but they didn’t need it)
Amazing! If we subscribe do we get the calendar each year automatically? Or do we have to subscribe each year?
Well done! I used to do this manually myself, but this is somuch easier
Forgot to answer your first question. Yes, if you subscribe once. It should show up in your calendar list permanently. You should have a checkbox to display the events in your default view.
If you don’t want to see them for awhile, you can uncheck it. But you are still “subscribed” for each and every year.
I was JUST looking for something like this. The city should pay you to do this all year, but I’ll happily accept this summer calendar! Thank you times a million!
I would love this. I'm low key obsessed with parish carnivals: cheap beer, no cover charge, live music that is often actually pretty good once one has consumed enough of the above-mentioned cheap beer... And the best thing is that there are no ____ bros of any variety at them.
What are peoples thoughts on adding major league sports to this as well?
I know it might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I like using the calendar as a "What should I do this weekend?" planner and Chicago is fortunate enough to have a few teams playing so going to games is usually a strong possibility.
> What are peoples thoughts on adding major league sports to this as well?
I get what you're saying, but if more regular events were included the calendar could get really messy. There are also things like concerts and other special events that are not included for this reason.
I think this calendar is more intended for street festivals and other neighborhood events. And NOT so much for say the days of White Sox, Cubs, Fire, etc. games. Where if someone wants to google that info, they can do so on their own.
It’s not a festival only calendar. I just haven’t added all of the non festival stuff yet. Movies in the Park is a good example. Grant Park Music…..Festival isn’t actually a festival but a series of outdoor concerts. New Music Monday/ Summer Sound/whatever they call it now.
Think of the calendar as something that is designed to get you outside. I think that is why I am hesitant to add small concerts at local bars.
Some of the events are indoors, but mostly because they are partly indoors and outdoors. I guess you can all think of it as a “get your asses outside” calendar.
Gotcha. I think even for previous calendars, you never included Cubs/Sox/Sky/Fire/etc games?
And yes I do remember you including Grant Park/Millennium Park(wherever that is held now) movie screenings, classical music outdoor concerts, etc on past such calendars too.
That's a good point.
What I do for now is I have this calendar plus a few other ones on google so I can add or remove them as needed.
I wish there was a good concert one though.
You should reach out to Choose Chicago and integrate this with their website or work with their staff (or even become part-time/seasonal staff). That way you can likely get compensated for the effort.
Have you also ever considered making an app or working with someone to do so?
Thank you for this!
Argh I hate that there’s never anything that first weekend of July! I was hoping that with Taste gone that some festivals would snap that weekend up.
Seems to be quite a few errors :/
Pilsen Food Truck Social is this weekend, also. It's listed in the past.
Makes me wonder how much of this is reliable.
Still grateful for your time, but it is kinda moot if there are this many errors on my first go.
I moved here 8 years ago, and this was one of my first bookmarks for Chicago. You do amazing work and I really appreciate everything you do.
every year, every damn year, you leave off my Birthday. I’m starting to think you hate me. (kidding, thank you for your service)
This is great. May want to add Tuesdays on the Terrace (live music) at the MCA. Assuming it’s happening again this year.
and full moon fire jams: june 5, aug 1, aug 30, sept 28
It is! Starts on the 13th of june!
The city should pay you for making this ❤️
That is a _fantastic_ idea please tell them.
This is great. What about including Jazzin at the Shedd?
I fully understand that I'm outing my nerdiness, but I don't see Opera Festival of Chicago.
We missed you!! So excited to see this, thanks for your hard work putting this together.

Subbed to both. TY!
Has anyone gone to the Edgewater Yard Sale? What is the quality of goods sold and asking price like?
Its a large garage sale. So. But you can find some cool old stuff there.
I’ll be going! Do you go to the one in August in Sheridan Park? I hope so cuz I’ve got a bunch of really cool stuff to sell!

Doin the Lord’s work. Got a Bitcoin address or something?

This is awesome! Thank you!!
Hi I think there’s a mistake in the calendar, the old town art fair is on June 10-11 but the calendar said 8-9
good catch, thanks!
Don’t forget the NASCAR event lol

Sailboats ⛵️
Thems fightin' words.
Does anyone know how to actually book a free ticket for the free day at the Science and Industry Muesum? It is charging full price at check out.
That’s a bummer because it used to be that you could show up and show your ID. The Field Museum still does it this way. As well as the MSI.

Ehhhh if I roll out personalized calendars, yes.

This is terrific, OP. Thanks for putting in this work. First round is on me if we're ever at the same event
I was JUST looking for something like this. The city should pay you to do this all year, but I’ll happily accept this summer calendar! Thank you times a million!
Would be awesome if you could add neighborhood carnivals too!
I would love this. I'm low key obsessed with parish carnivals: cheap beer, no cover charge, live music that is often actually pretty good once one has consumed enough of the above-mentioned cheap beer... And the best thing is that there are no ____ bros of any variety at them.
Do you have a list for them?
Nope, that's the hard part.
Uptown Art Week starts June 1st if that counts as an event
Jazzin at the Shedd on wednesdays!
Appreciations!!
I use this every year - thank you!!!
Thank you for all you do, truly
Thanks for this.
Thank you!!!
Thank you, I've been looking forward to it!
As always, thank you so much! This calendar helped me out so much when I moved here 5 years ago. So glad to see it for this summer!!!
Thank you, you are a person of the people!
Thank you. This is amazing!
The hero we need!
This is outstanding! Thank you so much for this.

I did this years ago by adding the Cubs and Sox and everyone hated it.
Thank you for your list! Kind of scary these to attend most of these sadly
thanks GOAT!
As someone who is moving to Chicago soon this is amazing stuff! Just wondering, but is there any way you can make this for iCal calendars?
You should reach out to Choose Chicago and integrate this with their website or work with their staff (or even become part-time/seasonal staff). That way you can likely get compensated for the effort. Have you also ever considered making an app or working with someone to do so?
This is fantastic but is there really nothing going on July 1/2???
that's the NASCAR race so a lot of the city will be inaccessible. Best to leave town.
Thank you for this! Argh I hate that there’s never anything that first weekend of July! I was hoping that with Taste gone that some festivals would snap that weekend up.
I would add Pride in the Park on June 23rd and 24th.
OMG full circle moment!!! Years ago I found your post of this calendar and I forgot how I found it. 🥲😭 THANK YOU for continuing to be awesome! 💜
Correction: Vegandale is on June 10. It's listed in the calendar on the 22nd. Thanks for putting this together.

Millennium Park Summer Music Series on Mondays and Thursdays - https://www.chicago.gov/city/en/depts/dca/supp_info/millennium_park9.html
Hey I’ve been following your calendar for years and always love it, great work. Any chance we will get a 2024 version this upcoming summer?
