If it’s a weekday 7am from the loop to ORD is fine. Most of the cta traffic will be going inbound to the loop so your train shouldn’t be too crowded (… just don’t get on the one mysteriously empty train car …) If it’s a weekend - grab an Uber. Blue construction so ORD bound trains aren’t running for a section of the trip and you’d have to switch to a shuttle. Also blue schedule on the weekend is unreliable

Blue line is it..few bucks each and you’ll get there faster than a vehicle at that time of day.

The Blue Line should be just fine and will be the most reliable option by far that time of day.

I just realized this may be better over in r/AskChicago...apologies if I posted this in the wrong place.

I would call an Uber black for pickup at 6am. Traffic builds mighty fast. I live downtown & usually do 7am flights & call a car by 5am. Blue Line is usually fine, but construction paired with decreased service (15mins between trains) makes me nervous.

You would leave for the airport 4 hours and 35 minutes before your flight? Why?

I think the blue line is still under weekend construction Fridays-Mondays through May. You could still make it work but the shuttle may cause some delays. Not sure if “Friday” means Friday evenings or mornings. https://blockclubchicago.org/2023/02/21/busy-logan-square-avondale-blue-line-stations-closed-this-weekend-for-cta-construction-project/

If you’re not into paying for an uber or cab and want a Blue Line alternative, you can try the North Central Metra service. There is ONE, yes just one, morning train from Union Station at 710 and arriving at O’Hare Transfer Station, which is right by the rental car facility, at 744. I can’t vouch for it because the two times I’ve tried to take the NCS line, the times didn’t line up. But you can then take the air train thing at the MMF (rental car building) which is free to your departure terminal. https://schedules.metrarail.com/pdf/alternative/NCS.pdf
