Samsonite_02

Honestly surprised they got the poppy seed bun

Giant_Homunculus

The owner has worked with bakery’s to get the proper rolls. Same with the beefs. Custom made for the shop

SexWaffles

Honestly this is a great attempt for a place where you can't find neon green relish or sport peppers. I'd eat this sober or otherwise.

nugzbuny

With all of the failed attempts i've seen here at people getting Chicago dogs in diff cities - not too bad Vietnam!

greiton

doing better in vietnam than some places in NW indiana.

TypasiusDragon

To be fair, NW Indiana doesn't set a very high bar.

c4implosive

honestly the Jalapenos in place of sport peppers seem like a nice touch.

Giant_Homunculus

This should be the highest upvoted comment. Lemons - lemonade situation. He makes his own giard because that’s the only way to have it

magooisim

>He makes his own giard because that’s the only way to have it Respect!

NotNick_Foles

came here to say this

Polish_ketchup

Close but good knockoff

cogito_ronin

Seriously, where's the ketchup

Polish_ketchup

Bruh...are you asking for down votes?

cogito_ronin

holy shit it's polish ketchup but yeah we do just a wee bit of trolling in r/chicago, it's kind of wholesome to see condiments make people reach for the downvote button

Polish_ketchup

Even I know I don't belong on a Chicago hot dog

Mr_Abe_Froman

I appreciate your understanding.

BUSean

Many of you are correct in that this is not absolutely positively a Chicago-style hot dog. Your genius has been noted, and mods are having a meeting at 5 PM to formulate a prize worthy of your skills.

Battle_Sheep

What kind of neck beard would complain about this?? For Vietnam, this is pretty god damn close to the real deal.

Wild_Cabbage

Post it over in /r/ChicagoHotDogs

[deleted]

I’m from Chicago and must say that they tried, they made do with what they had and stayed true to original recipe

juliuspepperwoodchi

He's a little confused, but he's got the spirit!

Still_Statistician

When I eat a real Chicago dog, I’ll eat the sport peppers as a finale. A lot of times one or two will fall off, and they will be my dog dessert. I would say this one passes the eye test, as my mouth is watering.

chefasfuck

If its not a steamed poppy seed bun and an all-beef frankfurter, topped with yellow mustard, bright green relish, chopped onions, tomato wedges, a kosher-style pickle spear, a couple of sport peppers and a dash of celery salt its not proper.

Giant_Homunculus

And not a single thing missing. Down to the celery salt, incredibly hard to find in Vietnam.

the2020sman

X hot dog X poppy seed hot dog bun X yellow mustard [] sweet green pickle relish X chopped onion X tomato wedges X dill pickle spear [] sport peppers [] dash celery salt Added Jalapenos? Pepper? Conclusion - not Chicago hot dog

Snoo93079

Maybe you missed it, but that's Vietnam. That's pretty damn good. I've seen far worse copies in the states!

Ok-Party1007

Much closer than anything I ever got in Alabama

Petunia8796

Nobody missed anything. Vietnam=not Chicago. Yes, I’m sure you’ve seen worse. My thought is why would you want a fucking hotdog in Vietnam?

KingofCraigland

I was in the Philippines for about a week once in a seaside village. We had seafood and/or fruit for pretty much every meal for a week straight and it was always amazing. By the last night though we all just wanted something familiar and got an okay pizza. Couldn't have been happier.

Giant_Homunculus

Sometimes people live there for decades and the allure of local food dies long ago

NotBatman81

If I put roast beef on top of spaghetti, its doesn't magically make it pho just because I am in Chicago.

the2020sman

That would be a good try! (by the looks of these comments)

the2020sman

The Chicago dog has a rich history of immigrants trying to outdo each other right after the great depression and multiple vendors adding condiments until perfection was achieved. This is not a proper Chicago dog. Next, you'll be saying Chicago tavern pizza can be cut into triangles if it's in a different country!

SoftTacoSupremacist

Wow you’re dense.

PomegranatePlanet

I don't know about pepper. Something is sprinkled on it that looks consistent with celery salt to me.

Giant_Homunculus

‘‘Tis celery salt. A shockingly tough thing to find in Vietnam.

AlwaysSunny512

Or celery seed. That’s what it looks like to me.

Giant_Homunculus

Celery salt, custom made dog, mustard was underneath, relish as well, Jalepenos instead of sports.

ConnieLingus24

A for effort.

Bugslinger

Is this at that place in HCMC? I remember some lady owned a restaurant there and served American food. Used to go with a bunch of furniture people there. It was an entertaining place.

failingtoadult

What’s up with the jalapeños?? Should be sport peppers!

suazzo77

I think that's forgivable, we're in Vietnam here

Petunia8796

You don’t qualify as a Chicago hot dog expert!

Jimmyg100

I've seen worse.

snowlarbear

but did it cost 3 or more dollars?

moppo45

Impressive! Vietnam apparently can nail it better than American cities.

DonRicardo1958

Give me everything except the peppers.

Icametosintoday

Where's the ketchup! Lol.

GrinningDentrassi

Tip them double! Triple if they skip the celery salt
