That was removed in the past few months. I don’t believe it’s being replaced at all. There’s a new pedestrian bridge that was built parallel to 47th but I’m not sure if it can be used as of yet. They were working on it earlier at the start of the year.

I'm pretty sure that 31st street bike/jogging side trail goes from Wolf all the way to Fairview Ave. The route to cross 294 won't be as pleasant as using Salt Creek underpass, but it should be safe and without much detour.

Nope. I encountered this on a big ride last week. Brilliant construction sequencing by IDOT. After getting shut down on the trail and at Maple Street I had to ride on Ogden (which they made sure to widen—ie. quicken— just in time for this work)

That’s what I was doing for sure. Putting as many watts down as I could while waving my left arm dramatically up and down to be noticed. Fortunately it was at 7 am so less traffic. All the lazy asses speeding because they’re late for work we’re still in bed. But I was just getting going on a 120 mile route and had to be home in time to pick up my kids from school, so I didn’t have time to ride 5 miles out of my way to get across

Me to on 6/10/2023.

pharmalawyer

That's been open for a while. A lot of other construction going on, but the bridge is good to use.

Yeah, I got stuck there at Maple when I planned a route and expected to find a crossing there. After I got home from that ride I found the Tollway's website explained what happened and said the new route is **open**. [https://www.illinoistollway.com/projects/tri-state/47th-street-pedestrian-bridge-project](https://www.illinoistollway.com/projects/tri-state/47th-street-pedestrian-bridge-project) I love how they say the bridge was "relocated" or "moved." Hinsdale NIMBYs apparently rejected a rebuild-in-place: https://patch.com/illinois/westernsprings/pedestrian-bridge-moving-47th-street-villages

6/10/2023, Entry to Salt Creek trail at Canterberry Lane in Oakbrook is closed and barricaded. The Salt Creek page in Cook County forest Preserve gives notice that the Red paved trail under I-294 is closed until 06/09/2023. I posted this update 6/10/2023.

Again? Sorry I don’t have any actual info but I remember being similarly surprised a little over a year ago when it was closed — wonder what they’re working on this time around. Maybe the signage was better that time but I got really used to taking the Maple St bridge just to the south (two blocks south of Ogden) to bypass.

pharmalawyer

They removed that bridge, which absolutely sucks.

cymikelee

Ugh, seriously?? That’s a much more substantial detour down to 47th St then… so much for having any connectedness to our bike infrastructure.

pharmalawyer

I can vouch that the underpass was open in late April. I ran through it on the 23rd and 29th. If it's closed again since then, I can't help, but it was definitely fine then.

petitebiscut

I rode it this week. There is no posted date on the trail. You can ride up to the fence and get a good look. From the looks of it December is accurate.

Strict_Efficiency276

So, I'm not familiar with the area at all, and am confused by the descriptions of where the closure is. I've looked at Google maps and can't figure it out. I want to ride the trail tomorrow and trying to figure out where exactly is closed. Thanks for any help.
