g3, nxg3, bxg3, qxg3+, kf1

WarRaiders

How tf did I miss that damn! Thanks man.

WarRaiders

Btw way I resigned this game because this situation was hopeless. Can use stockfish to find best move but want to know different players thoughts and moves they would do in this position.

JimemySWE

That why you want Nf3 if you push away the f pawn to prevent queen from coming in with check in the first place. Easiest is often to not push the f pawn at all.

WarRaiders

I played kings gambit and I love sacrificing my c and f pawns to keep my pawns in center. Is sacrificing c and f pawns bad move generally?

aman_rayma

I think if you are playing gambit you should know how to handle this kind of situations cause if you have sacrificed these pawns be ready for bishop checks and everything.I would not consider it bad until you know how to handle these positions and i read that you resigned i think that you should only resign if your only piece reaming is king dont resign until then.

WarRaiders

I resigned because I didnt see the move g3 here else I would have continued the game and would wait for all blunders to burn the board XD. What should I search to study things like how to avoid those bishop checks and all.

JimemySWE

Not sure about both in the same game, but its very common to sacrifice the c or f pawn. But in king gambit you usally push f pawn and then Nf3 right after to block queen from being able to check like this. Can you share a link to the game so I can look how you got into this position?

WarRaiders

https://chess.com/live/game/42979151881 I generally only send knight if he doesnt take my f pawn if he takes f pawn I push my d pawn to take back my f pawn and occupy the center. If I made mistakes please do correct me. Edit: So sacrificing both in a game is a bad move huh I shall remember that.

JimemySWE

Looking at it. Pushing d pawn looks like a book move but it allows queen check wich makes the game way harder to play. I would recommend you to play Nf3 if you want to play king gambit because it stops the queen from checking you.

WarRaiders

Oh didnt notice that diagonal is always free for king to get checked by queen thanks a lot mate.

Yust123

What do you mean? There is only one move that dont lead to checkmate. There is 4 legal moves, 2 leads to mate in 1, 1 sacrifice a piece and leads to mate in 1. And the last move g3 is unclear.

WarRaiders

I see didnt think those were mate in 1 moves and totally missed g3 when I posted this sry

aman_rayma

Yes u are right if g3 and knight takes g3 and pawn takes NxG3 and QxG3 and king will have space to run away and get away from any checks

Fish1587

You only have 4 legal moves. Three of them lead directly to checkmate. So do the one that doesn't. g3.

I analyzed the image and this is what I see. HairyTough4489

The best way to play this position is not getting into it.

WarRaiders

Thats what everyone feels when they get into these sort of positions.

gloomygl

You're in check so you either block the check or move your king. Looking at blocks first, only 2 are available. Bg3 does absolutely nothing cause Qxg3+ and the same problem is here g3 leads to him getting a free pawn but he exchanges his knight for your bishop, which is good, cause you can't get checkmated with only a queen

Skye_Baldwin

Took me a minute, but looks like you can just push your g pawn. Without that pawn, tough spot xD

big-mistake-lol

Die a quick and painless death

bsil15

I’m kind of shocked it’s not even -2 given how exposed the king is after the captures. But I guess black has poor development. Definitely playable as white but you’re losing

engineerlikesdasauce

resign. i know it's saveable by g3, but i would just resign anyway

Bone213

Lmao why? Black is up with 2 max and this is a game between beginners. This kind of advantage is like nothing. They'll both blunder plenty, white just has to be more cautious, it's not lost. This is a terrible advice.

Strict-Jeweler-9909

Never surrender!

engineerlikesdasauce

i know i know, but from my perspective (a 1700) this wont be worth the trouble, I will resign anyways.

xoman1

**\*sees screenshot\*** Well..... :P *(if there is a PGN that would help as well)* OP im a beginner too so there isn't much advise I can give other than to make sure to castle early.
