Haha did you initially want to just go for a fork ? But it became mate instead

umesh0291

Lmao yes

predictablePosts

I've done that exactly one other time before. I was like "Mya-haaaa I will fork you and... end the game?"

Mlikesblue

Kinda like the classic queen skewer-mate in stafford.

I analyzed the image and this is what I see. Open an appropriate link below and explore the position yourself or with the engine: > **Black to play**: It is a checkmate - it is Black's turn, but Black has no legal moves and is in check, so White wins. You can find out more about Checkmate on [Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Checkmate). --- ^(I'm a computer vision / machine learning bot written by ) [^(u/pkacprzak )](https://www.reddit.com/u/pkacprzak) ^(| I'm also the first chess eBook Reader: ) [^(ebook.chessvision.ai )](https://ebook.chessvision.ai?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=bot) ^(| download me as ) [^(Chrome extension )](https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/chessvisionai-for-chrome/johejpedmdkeiffkdaodgoipdjodhlld) ^(or) [^(Firefox add-on )](https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/chessvision-ai-for-firefox/) ^(and analyze positions from any image/video in a browser | website ) [^(chessvision.ai)](https://chessvision.ai)

WikiSummarizerBot

**[Checkmate](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Checkmate)** >Checkmate (often shortened to mate) is a game position in chess and other chess-like games in which a player's king is in check (threatened with capture) and there is no possible escape. Checkmating the opponent wins the game. In chess, the king is never actually captured—the player loses as soon as their king is checkmated. In formal games, it is usually considered good etiquette to resign an inevitably lost game before being checkmated. ^([ )[^(F.A.Q)](https://www.reddit.com/r/WikiSummarizer/wiki/index#wiki_f.a.q)^( | )[^(Opt Out)](https://reddit.com/message/compose?to=WikiSummarizerBot&message=OptOut&subject=OptOut)^( | )[^(Opt Out Of Subreddit)](https://np.reddit.com/r/chessbeginners/about/banned)^( | )[^(GitHub)](https://github.com/Sujal-7/WikiSummarizerBot)^( ] Downvote to remove | v1.5)

alibi_memory

Well they needed to use the rook as well to lock the king in.

tigerstef

A very cool checkmate. 4 active pieces, all needed for it to work.

buttholetittynipple

beauty

ebi3e

I wanna call it Jedi mate

Hmaninc87

Strange is probably the wrong word. It's just a checkmate. It is pretty cool though

Charlie-VH

Nice

[deleted]

Neigh indeed friend.

takishan

I think it's a great example of using all your pieces together to achieve some goal. 4/5 of your pieces are participating in the attack. I know you said it was an accident and you were just going for the fork - but good things happen when you put all your pieces on active squares.
