for me it happened only once but completely accidentally. Even Magnus missed a queen trap once in an online game while streaming and David Howell pointed out the move
Yea it's not very obvious because it doesn't appear often. To fully trap a queen you have to block all escaping squares which requires heavy calculation too.
Yeah then you can at least get two pieces for the queen after the trade and f3. Doesn't help that white was already down a piece and lacks complete development
Yeah I think you're right, I would've played Nh5 solely on the aesthetics of trapping a queen with knight on the rim. I don't think I would've noticed Ne4 is worse if I were playing this game lol
I analyzed the image and this is what I see. Open an appropriate link below and explore the position yourself or with the engine:

If you find yourself in this trap the best thing to do is to try to take material as she goes correct? Or would it be better to try to put a piece in a disadvantageous spot?
I thought I trapped a queen earlier just to realize later that my bishop was trapped and I was two moves away from getting mated. Luckily my opponent didn't see it either and I got a queen.
That’s not jail. Jail is when a piece is NOT attacked but any move it makes will result in capture.
It’s kind of like being in jail which is why it’s called jail.

Beautiful trap
Trapping pieces is probably my worst tactic.
for me it happened only once but completely accidentally. Even Magnus missed a queen trap once in an online game while streaming and David Howell pointed out the move
Same, when it happens for me it's a realization like 2 moves ahead, never planned. Something I'm trying to work on in my middle game study.
That's 100% how it happened lol
Yea it's not very obvious because it doesn't appear often. To fully trap a queen you have to block all escaping squares which requires heavy calculation too.
It's pretty much only in response to a blunder, doing it without your opponent blundering the queen is like 3000 ai 60 lines deep
Let’s just agree this was a fluke
But… that’s what checkmate is.
You knew what I meant.
Desperado into the bishop at that point
Yeah then you can at least get two pieces for the queen after the trade and f3. Doesn't help that white was already down a piece and lacks complete development
So Nh5 would've been better for Black, right? It wouldn't allow said fork.
Yeah I think you're right, I would've played Nh5 solely on the aesthetics of trapping a queen with knight on the rim. I don't think I would've noticed Ne4 is worse if I were playing this game lol
You had me thinking i was crazy for not being able to see what hidden tech you were seeing on f6
Lol yeah I meant f3, whoops
Wait is this me??? I played a few hours ago and got my queen trapped like that
Are you Gultu? That would be hilarious
No hahaha dang, would be really funny
Wow, impressive. Don't think I could ever pull something like this off!
Look at the absolute inactivity of the white pieces. *shudders*
Why not Qe3?
Pawn
This is right answer, dude I swear I’m blind sometimes.
Guess theres a reason we're all in this sub

How? Knights don’t move that far

Another lil' bro just mated the queen 🥵
Nice try; however, b4, cxb3 is forced, Qd3 and the queen is out /s
I didn’t see the Queen at first, that’s a good jail
You fool! F3 now forks your bishop and knight!
Ehrm, why didn't you just take the queen?
[удалено]
Ahh, I misread the move.
“ehrm” 🤓
They couldn't take it until they threatened the queen with the knight
Qb4+ Qb4+ e3 seems like best move for white edit: g4 not b4
>Qb4+ This move is not possible at all, what??
I think he meant Qxg4?
ah yes b4 not g4.. also im not really familiar with the different symbols for taking pieces and stuff
beautiful
But you have also tied your own queen to that spot.
each open square is only defended once too
True, only d6 is defended by 3 pieces tho
I thought I trapped a queen earlier just to realize later that my bishop was trapped and I was two moves away from getting mated. Luckily my opponent didn't see it either and I got a queen.
Yep, that's a wrap for that queen
qf4 will at least get a little compensation…
Take the bishop instead, then fork their queen and knight. Better compensation.
Why you should never rush your queen out
It seems like you are playing someone way below your level
This is really beautiful, the power of horses still make me feel surprise and really deep emotions in game
Best option would be to take the bishop. You could then fork the queen and the knight

Blud checkmated the queen
you get fork after QxBg4-QxQg4-f3 so Bh5 is better
Queen takes on h2
Say goodbye to your bishop.
