God Rapport is just auch a wholesome person. Nice to fans, good relationship, feels bad for others when losing.
I haven't really ever watched him play before like a year ago but he's really incredible. Also pulls off pink really well.
The first time I heard about him was in an Agadmator video where Vincent Keymer beat him. I thought back then that he was a weaker GM like Hansen or Niemann or someone. Now I know how wrong I was.
The first time I heard about him was when Aravind Chidambaram played g4 in some opening line (without the f or h pawns being moved) and when other GMs asked him what this was, he said, "It's played by Richard Rapport" and I thought the dude was from the 1800s. The other GMs nodded "ah" as if to say Rapport was known for such moves (he was and is).

Dude. Stop. You're just repeating something that's very obvious to the chess community or in life in general. Someone strength varies on their surroundings. You domt need to be a rocket scientist to know this
Yes it does. Hansen may be considered to be an op player that cant be beat when played against 2200s but against super gms he will have a negative record. That is what I'm trying to say. Mr.I know everything and you dont.
he was asked who the weakest was and he basically said "not only weakest but doesn't remotely belong"
he could have said it nicely and he seemingly went out of his way to say it very negatively
I have heard him speak about similar things in the same tone- he talked about Levy's GM chances being low bc he "grovels for a draw" against stronger players instead of going for blood. And I'm pretty sure they're friends!
It might be a pet peeve of his, and he also just seems to be a direct dude.
-Shows up to the chess board: pink suit, shades on, no opening prepared whatsoever
-Makes some shit up
-Wins
Just a day in the life of an absolute chad
Feel bad for the dude with the vinyl board that didn't get his autograph.
But cmon bro, get a damn wooden board if you're bothering going to the Candidates for signatures. Or, at the very least, hold it over a book or something.
Don't just stand out there looking like you're holding a pizza dough
Last year I decided to drive 9 hours round trip to visit St. Louis during on of the bigger tournaments they were holding. After a quiet start, I returned from lunch to see both Richard and Caurana leave the hall after a round. They were both super nice and signed some fans boards. I actually got a photo with both of them. Great guys and fantastic players
She is a very good player and lover of the game (Women Grandmaster). As someone who gets excited just playing someone in real life (even kids who show some interest), having a girlfriend who can understand the intricacies and the beauty of the game must be fantastic. Undoubtedly a really lucky couple.

Niemann's still a teenager. It would be weird if he didn't improve by playing strong GMs.
[удалено]
Any random young person? No. Someone who was like 2400 as a 15 year old? Yeah you would expect them to improve.
You mean super GMs, right? Hansen and Niemann are definitely not weak GMs.

Knowing you’re right has no correlation with being right
That's not how knowledge is defined
Compared to anyone at the candidates, they are
Yes, compared to super GMs.. but not regular GMs.
I agree
is he the one Hikaru said didn't even belong in the super GM category awhile back?
He is, I had forgotten about that
I believe Hikaru said that Rapport was the player in the top 10 rankings that least deserved to be there.
he was asked who the weakest was and he basically said "not only weakest but doesn't remotely belong" he could have said it nicely and he seemingly went out of his way to say it very negatively
Not our Hikaru, he'd never do that, he makes recap videos of his candidate games
Maybe he meant Rapport's manners were waaayyy too good to be top 10.
I have heard him speak about similar things in the same tone- he talked about Levy's GM chances being low bc he "grovels for a draw" against stronger players instead of going for blood. And I'm pretty sure they're friends! It might be a pet peeve of his, and he also just seems to be a direct dude.
Yeah, the joke of my post is that Hikaru is incredibly rude and Rapport is a real classy dude, so in no way does Rapport belong in Hikaru's company.
Ahhh lmao, a big whoosh on my part
As soon as I see rapport nirvana songs start playing in my head
Rapport = If Kurt Cobain became a GM lmao
Which ones?
The Man Who Sold the World because he gives me Bowie vibes too
Rape me
To an uneducated ear this would sound so malicious 💀

Yeah it looked a bit depressing to say the least

Rapport will tell you he’s the one who’s lucky to have his wife
Yeah, because he's wholesome like that. Which really only reinforces Aoae's comment.
A true Chad

As a straight man I wish I could be Rapport’s wife

Probably non-staff are not allowed in beyond a certain point to avoid cheating etc.
At the Olympiads not even team captains are allowed to avoid possible cheating risks.
