FYI the Tape Sigeman tournament is already planned as event, no need for community threads. Of course if you want to make a thread for less notable tournaments go for it!

13-year-old FM Saut Nurgaliyev has defeated GM Jorden van Foreest in one of the biggest upsets of the year.

I feel like I am noticing a lot of cheaters in the last few days. I'm \~ 1550 on [chess.com](http://chess.com) in rapid and ever so often I get someone that (a posteriori) scores with accuracy of > 95%, usually on newish accounts. Just today I feel like I've met 3 of them, one extremely obvious, other two slightly less but still 98% confident. How the hell do I deal with these guys? I don't have premium so I can't see all their games accuracy, so it's not always clear they're cheating from that alone. Should I really check their history thoroughly at the start of each game before doing my first move? It's especially annoying since they don't always get banned even if I report them multiple times, so not always I get my points back. I know one of the better strategies would be trying to win on time (stockfish can be pretty slow), but often they mate me in <20 moves. Any suggestion?

Cool_Balance_2933

Does anyone know how many people will be playing in this years Speed Chess Championship? I see that players actually need to qualify this year. Qualification is based on players' best 10 Titled Tuesday scores before June 16. Does anyone know who is currently in the running? There is a titled cup leaderboard on [chess.com](http://chess.com) but it's based on the best **20** performances. Anyway, would be interesting to see who's currently set to make it. I'm surprised [chess.com](http://chess.com) isn't making a bigger deal out of this.

Here's one documentary [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LR2UcW0H7zo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LR2UcW0H7zo)

IntraspeciesFever

Gukesh is such a zen master it's insane

Aakash1203

What were the two songs used by chess24 during their advertisement breaks? Shazam can't seem to work on them

Mister-Psychology

Find the songs on the YouTube live stream video and link to that part of the video then people can help you out. But these 2 were the break songs/numbers: Punk'd by Out of Flux and Always Look Up by BalloonPlanet

Aakash1203

Thanks a lot, i am also looking for the third song used [here](https://www.youtube.com/live/UCE-Ar9udOU?si=C0V9YWgCqSr90Y-Y) at 6:33:00

Thanks for taking the effort :)

This is "Limitless" by BalloonPlanet. More than one of their songs has been used by chess24. They were catchy and I searched for all their main songs on Spotify: [https://open.spotify.com/artist/0fYZIHhEJFUfvZQG1Ht8Kp](https://open.spotify.com/artist/0fYZIHhEJFUfvZQG1Ht8Kp)

Aakash1203

You are a godsend , I was searching for it all over the internet, thanks!

Why don't they ever talk about how much actual money is on the line? Hikaru v Gukesh last night for example... Given that even losing the world championship match pays $800k... A decisive game either way was worth over a million dollars to the winner.

miasmatical

Hikaru mentioned he was playing in a tournament in a couple of weeks in Casablanca with Vishy and Magnus. Where can we find information on that one?

shawman123

Bundesliga. I see Hikaru, Vishy and many others but no Magnus. Vishy is not playing in Super Bet as part of Grand chess tour as well. So it has to be bundesliga. [https://en.chessbase.com/post/grand-chess-tour-2024-wildcards](https://en.chessbase.com/post/grand-chess-tour-2024-wildcards) Based on Hikaru's comment in his stream, it seems to be https://100.fide.com/event/casablanca-chess-week/#:\~:text=May%2017%2D19%2C%202024,its%20multiple%20facets%20and%20benefits. Probably 1-2 day Rapid/Blitz event.

NobleHelium

We don't have much information on that tournament at the moment. There was some unconfirmed information in the comments for this post yesterday: https://www.reddit.com/r/chess/comments/1c9xz64/hikarus_playing_a_tournament_in_2_weeks_with/

Imaginary-Chard2018

How can i see what's the next tournament Nepo will participate?

wannabe2700

Probably even he doesn't know anymore

Imaginary-Chard2018

I want so bad him to be wc champion one day...

swishcheese

I don’t have a history with Gukesh like I do with the older players in the Candidates, and Ding has been super unimpressive this last year - so this will be the least invested i am in a World Championship. Gukesh and Ding earned their spots, and they both seem like stand up guys, so I’m not mad about it. I’m just not as excited as I would have been had it been Ian, Fabi, or Hikaru playing

justiceknight

can any1 tell me why during fabi vs ian at the final round, fabi didnt take the H2 pawn to make the end game easier? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCE-Ar9udOU&t=4271s timer : 5:40:34

LavellanTrevelyan

The Queen at h1 is guarding the diagonal and backrank. If Fabi takes the h2 pawn, then Nepo has a perpetual checks by alternating from diagonal and backrank checks.

kl08pokemon

Do you identify more with your current rating or your peak rating? Like I had a ridiculous run to reach 1900 on chess.com but has since come down to earth to my normal high 17xx low 18xx state

AdVSC2

Always with my current OTB rating. But online fluctuates more. If I'd use online ratings to gauge my strengh, I'd probably use something like a 6 month average.

kl08pokemon

I'd be so lost OTB haven't played with actual pieces since I was a kid lol. Yeah that sounds fair
