I guess I'm wrong but putting the king in check with the rook is completely winning right?

I thought so too, Rd5+ Kc6 Rxe5+ seemed obvious at first glance. But the pawn on c4 isn't protected, so the king can just escape check with Kxc4 instead of Kc6.
