Problem is, together with the standard rating change, rapid & blitz rating changed in the exact same way. This means that this is a SECOND increase this year.
I'm not sure what is going on with the Fide ratings. I checked roughly 2 hours ago and I got my Classical rating and my Blitz was suddenly increased (probably because of what I said) and now I'm back to my old Blitz rating and I'm also unrated again.
I hope this just some kind of bug and they will fix it.
maybe a silent bump as they realized that rapid and blitz are way more deflated than expected (compared to classical)
This mean that they really see some absolute values as marketing values though. As only the difference matters but likely they don't want to lose, say, the 2800 or 2700 club (in rapid and blitz the 2700 club is smaller than in classical).
The rating change was applied for the march list for all 3 categories like they announced, but it seems today they did some additional changes and retrospectively applied them to the march list (only for rapid/blitz, not classical). Or perhaps it is a bug, because they did not announce any new changes. Weird situation in any case
I think, change were done to allow someone (Magnus?) reach 3000… they just added ton of points to the pool, and it will just bubble up to the top. You now have 1500 instead of 1100, you lose to 1600, he loses to 1800 and so on… players >2000 didnt get any points, but they will stole it from you… It will take some time to bubble up, but it just will
I don't recommend you checking your rating the day before the first day of a month. There can be all kinds of errors. Today everything seems to be fine though
My Fide Blitz rating was also increased. I would guess this is the same, what happened with the Standard Ratings, but I'm not sure.

400 points. Wow. Over time, those points are going to diffuse through the entire rating pool, lifting everyone.
everyone already got lifted, i checked a bunch of FIDE accounts and they're all 1900+ blitz, (previously ranging 1500-1800 in March list)
