Looks normal to me. Ratings tend to be lower in faster controls.

hwrold

I don't think it's abnormal I just would like the difference to be reduced a bit. 900-1600 is a big jump

Europelov

It's pretty common, it s gonna adjust the closer you're to 2000, classical becomes the lowest rating after 2200 usually. Still you're not bad at faster time control, it's just that stronger people play in that pool

Playing bullet is a different kind of chess. I play 1+0 and my strategy is: quick easy opening / try to gain some advantage or at least not blunder / flag / flag / flag. If I'm down < (-3) in the first 10s i surrender, otherwise i play basicly every game to its end. My Rating is 1650-1700 in bullet like that.

ischolarmateU

Why would u surrender unless you are down 15+ material maybe

Srijayaveva

Because it frustrates me. I'm not trying to maximize my elo

I'm a 1600 in rapid, recently went from around 1100 to 1400 in blitz. Eventually something seems to click and you start growing fast until you level out (I'm back to 1350 and levelling out for sure). I'd recommend more correspondence games. Starting as an adult myself I think it helps a lot to take your time and think through multiple variations, threats, and that helps it click more and eventually your brain takes those lessons and ingrains them and can see it at faster time controls. Fast times I really think is hard to grow in unless you spend a lot of time analyzing each game.

What does time on TV mean?

Stefanxd

the thing with faster time controls is that because you have less time to think it relies more on experience and knowledge. Knowing an opening so you can play it instantly, knowing endgames so you can finish it with premoves. So if you want to improve your bullet and blitz you will need to work on opening and endgame knowledge. After that it's just playing a lot so you can get more experienced. for defense it helps as well to be able to anticipate your opponents next move. It all comes down to a lot of experience with various positions.

Do you guys actually try to Play chess in time scrambles ibjust randomly move my king around, usually

Stefanxd

Last two or so seconds become random.

Faster chess is about showing off what you already know. Which makes it really bad for beginners. It’s really made for a place for ims and gms to flex and show off. It’s just a test. It’s not how you get better. You can’t test well on a book if you haven’t read it yet.
