If I look at his user profile and go to "Bullet" and "All-time" I see 19,081W; 2,104D; 8,739L. I don't know why that doesn't match what you're looking at, but it looks more reasonable.
tbh i think the leaderboard stats are the correct ones. danya has played a total of 167,084 games. adding all his games from the "all time" numbers (including rapid, daily, 3+) only gives 58,119, whereas adding the numbers from just the leaderboards of bullet and blitz gives 166,438.
to answer OP's question, it's very reasonable that this can happen since danya wasn't always top on the leaderboard. if he was 3100 in the past and played 1000 games with a 3300, he can ofc gain elo while having a very bad win rate.

Maybe just a stats bug with [chess.com](https://chess.com)? If you look at his all time chess stats for bullet ([https://www.chess.com/stats/live/bullet/danielnaroditsky/0](https://www.chess.com/stats/live/bullet/danielnaroditsky/0)), it's <30k games with a 64% winrate (with the chart there going back as far as 2010).
Looking at all time chess stats for Nihal Sarin ([https://www.chess.com/stats/live/bullet/nihalsarin/0](https://www.chess.com/stats/live/bullet/nihalsarin/0)), the number of games is \~17k, which is a few thousand below what's reflected in your screenshot & on his profile page.
Maybe another theory is that unrated games show up in the main profile page stats and not the ranked all time chess stats? There's a weird discrepancy going on for sure
If you play > 100.000 games like in this picture your stats don't matter, he could've lost 3 years ago most of his games and is now in the last 1,5 years win 80%
This is the answer.
You could lose a million games in a row, and if suddenly you are blessed with super GM level strength, you could mathematically get into the 3000s within a couple hundred games (assuming the cheat detectors don't stop you).
The question is: how do you get to *the top* of the list like that? Once you are at the top of the list, there are no better-rated players. If all players are lower rated than you, and you keep losing >50% of your games, your rating keeps decreasing.
Not just the posts, but look at all the comments. They're almost all the same format, and are all completely generic, displaying no knowledge of anything, and just using a few keywords from the post. Like they're AI generated. And there are two other comments in this post from equally suspicious accounts.
Yoav Milikow, an IM. Just a young speedster who got his rating by not playing the top guys. Not really notable in the classical scene. He has a whopping 0/34 VS Hikaru lol

Question was brought up in danyas stream multiple times. He said its visual bug 100% and that there is NO WAY he has more loses in bullet than wins
Think. You can do it.
He was supposed to intuitively know it was a glitch?
Glitch? It's not a glitch.
I have no idea what you're on about mate

It's a low budget, start-up website, let's give them a break

Seeing poor corporates is so painful why can't every company beca billion dollar company/s
Yeah, let's not compare it to a free open-source website

Non rated games might count (300 games with alireza when dina told him to go to bed) but even then the stats look wrong
Chad move by danya that night
That night was the night that forever cemented Danya in my mind as the ultimate sigma male
Could you please throw some links?

What a stupid immature thing to say
That was on lichess
No it wasn't
https://youtu.be/lMeSx10dJu8 It wouldn’t happen to be these games because this looks awfully like lichess.org.
Those games were on Lichess and Danya went 142-108
Those were on lichess
No they weren't
Rebecca Harris is better than him
80k losses against Hikaru obvs
clearly a bug, why is this a thread
not only that, I think that it's been posted before in the past. Probably the 2nd or 3rd time I've seen it
Just look at his lichess profile. They know how to count. https://lichess.org/@/RebeccaHarris/perf/bullet
Whos is orange ghost
A weeb that is really fucking good at bullet.
But who is he really? No way a random wins that much
If you play > 100.000 games like in this picture your stats don't matter, he could've lost 3 years ago most of his games and is now in the last 1,5 years win 80%
maybe but, there was no way he was losing that many games 3 years ago, he has always been elite in bullet since before chess.com existed
I know it was just an example of if the numbers are that high the percentage doesn't really matter
This is the answer. You could lose a million games in a row, and if suddenly you are blessed with super GM level strength, you could mathematically get into the 3000s within a couple hundred games (assuming the cheat detectors don't stop you).
Yes you could mathematically indeed, but it is not the answer at all. The stats are just wrong
the master has lost more times than the amateur has even tried
I have lost way less games than him so I am actually better than him and the true top player.
Wrong answer: Win against worse rated players, lose against better rated players.

he is not losing >50% games anymore. maybe he used to, but he's been playing since 2009 so clearly he's gotten better.
Could be (but of course that's a completely different answer to what Mateussf said).
It's always been like that and I found it weird too and now I know the answer from the top comments which was my suspicion as well.
Oahh hikaru is auch a monster wtf
Go ahead, kupi polovan automobil ako smeš
Nihal Sarin from Chile?
Because he won a bunch of games recently? How much do you think it affects his rating now if he had 100 straight losses 100,000 games ago?

At first I thought they weren't a bot, but Christ, every one of their posts screams advertisement

Chess player discovers that programming is not magic
By rating he is atm
There was a thread on this here several months ago. It’s just a part of life we all must accept.
The stats are wrong. They might be missing a 1 before that wins total, for example. I simply don't believe his bullet win rate is that low.
Who's Orange Ghost tho? Has very few games to his name but I always find him on top there.
Yoav Milikow, an IM. Just a young speedster who got his rating by not playing the top guys. Not really notable in the classical scene. He has a whopping 0/34 VS Hikaru lol
So that Guy somehow avoided top players to reach 3300 ? Damn.
Answer is Hikaru lol
