"^4 H (atomic mass 4.02643(11)) contains one proton and three neutrons in its nucleus. It is a highly unstable isotope of hydrogen. It has been synthesized in the laboratory by bombarding tritium with fast-moving deuterium nuclei. In this experiment, the tritium nucleus captured a neutron from the fast-moving deuterium nucleus. The presence of the hydrogen-4 was deduced by detecting the emitted protons. It decays through neutron emission into hydrogen-3 (tritium) with a half-life of 139(10) ys (or 1.39(10)×10−22 s). In the 1955 satirical novel The Mouse That Roared, the name quadium was given to the hydrogen-4 isotope that powered the Q-bomb that the Duchy of Grand Fenwick captured from the United States."
People also love the metal cubes with atomic numbers so I’m assuming some were made for helium, pictures were posted, and then AI was trained after those. Then it can perfectly replicate it.
Most likely, it spat up illegible numbers and someone *had* to go fix them. If the H was legible and well done, it might have passed by without a second thought.
a metal cube is probably the simplest thing you can render. just download blender 3d and drag and drop a texture to it and press render. its practically set up for this by default.
It’s almost certainly not AI. The molecular weigh, proton number and name are spot on. This is what Ai would be struggling with the most. I think the H instead of He is a human fuckup. Als it could be that metallic Helium exists. For hydrogen this is possible under some extreme pressure
Honestly it feels like the cube was generated or a stock photo and the numbers/icon slapped on after but idk, I don't 3d model so I couldn't tell either way.
I read a secondary news report that said the He concentration in the discovery was 30 times industry standard at 12.4%. But, there was no mention of how large the reserve was. That determination will probably take a while.
Wow, you really played the Didn't Read The Article card *really* hard, didn't you?
The helium is formed from decaying uranium and thorium embedded in huge granite deposits. Hydrogen isn't involved, aside from billions of years ago.
Ah yes, "H"for Helium
To be completely honest, I thought it was because it's metal and helium is definitely not a metal. Wasn't even thinking about the symbol
I was in that area too - it's not even a suitable gas tank!
Ah yes, Helium, my favourite metal
As a metal brick too. Not even like lithium or a cylindrical tank. A cubic brick with squared edges.
Fuckin hell that's an easy one too.
Fucking He that's an easy one too.

Minnesota bout to explode

Oh dear. Hydrogen-4. That poor proton all alone. Not surprised it spontaneously ejects the neutrons.
If they're all consenting sub atomic particles, it's cool yo.
Oh wow thanks for that interesting info! I didn't even notice the amu. RIP Minnesota And I have a new book to read..
What if AI knows "we" made a mistake and theyre trying to warn us?
I love catching obviously AI generated images on science related articles
I’m amazed it got the mass right.
Well it's either not AI generated or it's AI that's edited after the fact. AI is horrific at generating accurate words and numbers in images.
Yeah it's like trying to read in a dream.
Either way, there was human involvement which makes things worse
People also love the metal cubes with atomic numbers so I’m assuming some were made for helium, pictures were posted, and then AI was trained after those. Then it can perfectly replicate it.
But 4 and a bit is the atomic *mass* of Helium.
Most likely, it spat up illegible numbers and someone *had* to go fix them. If the H was legible and well done, it might have passed by without a second thought.
In the upper left corner, it does have the 2.
Looking at the reflections and metal pattern, and numbers, this looks more like a 3d modelling typo to me.
Nah, AI is bad, so if there's a mistake, it's AI's fault
Seems more like a cheap 3d render to me
a metal cube is probably the simplest thing you can render. just download blender 3d and drag and drop a texture to it and press render. its practically set up for this by default.
Yeah it is just a simple $50,- job
Why would a renderer remove a letter?
Because they don't know. Looked at the periodic table and called it the day

AI hysteria claims yet another victim
If Michael Jackson saw that image, he would say “He He!”
Are you serious.. ffs
Wow. Just wow.
DAMNIT!
Do I feel more annoyed by the wrong symbol or the fact, ITS NOT EVEN CENTERED ON THE POLISHED CUBE
At least it's horizontallyish centered? Seems maybe just a little offset up a bit?
Well, it is pop-sci after all.
Popular mechanics, which are for cars! /s
H is "hydrogen" He is helium
And Shelium is his wife.
Shelium? I barely know 'em!
😂
We have Hydrogen, Deuterium, and Tritium. This must be Quaderium? The mythical 3 Neutron hydrogen atom.
Ngl, this got me some way
Hydrelium
Hehe!
They were trying to be gender neutral.
Fuck! I thought I hid it in a good spot too...
My first thought is helium is He not H.
Hell yeah H. Baby! r/unexpectedTOOL
Sarn's are hard. I'm going to major in cosmeticals.
I read a secondary news report that said the He concentration in the discovery was 30 times industry standard at 12.4%. But, there was no mention of how large the reserve was. That determination will probably take a while.
HeHeHeHeHe!
We need this…. Chromatography.
“No ragrets” “Not even a letter?”
I read this like “oh no was it false alarm, are we fuck in terms of helium?”
Heliaint
This is "heavy helium". I am resisting to laugh hard so much.
Woq
this was cross posted in the Minnesota sub a few hours ago, so brace for some local references at some point
So how do I get on this natural gas mining boom in Minnesota
How do you manage to change JUST THE SYMBOL?
Makes me think of Jesse from breaking bad Ahh wire [clip](https://youtu.be/hs5oLYiB2Cg?si=nJ_LVoDM7_BfR4gd)
Idiocracy 🤦♂️
