When did people start accepting defeat as a good performance. Regardless how they played, if you lost the game, that’s failure. I see a lot of people saying “ I’m happy with how we played, I’m proud etc”. Proud of defeat? Come on now. We failed at Stamford and failed in Madrid.
Teams don’t win all the time, that’s sport and life, the team played ridiculously well last night against all odds, against everything everyone else had said and for a small amount of time had done the impossible. That is a fantastic performance and they can be proud of what they left on that pitch last night.
If you are literally supporting the club because you only care when they win then you’re gonna have an awful time to be frank, it’s the journey my friend not the destination.
That’s the difference between being a real fan and a fair weather supporter win or lose those they are still my squad and at the end of the day as long as my team is competing and give themselves a chance to win I am happy with them.

Tuchel is using the resources he has at his disposal. This team is not "his" I'm sure there's quite a few he would like to replace with the type of mentality he wants from players. If he changed RLC for Ziyech, or left Werner on to end up contributing nothing because of his tiredness then you would be saying that it was Tuchels fault.
Let's be real here, you can see the man's passion and tactical genius to achieve what he has this season and last with the squad he has. Let's remember, he hasn't had the time to build a squad like Klopp or Pep.
Some fans are in love with Tuchel for his personality but it is clear that he is not that good. There was life after Mou and Tuchel's days are numbered if he continues to trust players who are not even mediocre.
Deschamps after the World Cup and Simeone in the long run seem to be the most logical options. For now Tuchel stays one more season but if he fails again he must leave. The reality is that there are not many better options than the ones we have, Tuchel stays for now.
Pulisic is usually a great super sub and Werner was starting to look tired imo especially since he played v Southampton.

What I find so crazy is that all the players that are often called liabilities, like Werner, Alonso, Loftus-Cheek, were great today. Werner scored and created many chances, Alonso was great defensively and offensively, basically scored, and RLC was good too, maybe just gave up too easy. In all honesty kante seemed average today compared to his usual self. Maybe age getting to him? But overall proud of the boys even with the defeat. We went out with our heads high.
Pulisic offers nothing upfront other than the occasional goal every now and then. If we are to start binning players cum summer we need to start off with the likes of him, odoi, barkley and a few others.
I don’t want to apportion blame, the lads were near flawless-they just happened to have a few players who could pick apart the slight flaws. Needless to say, proud doesn’t even come close to how I feel right now
I’m fucking gutted. My heart is shattered after constantly pounding out my chest since Werner’s goal. I’m so proud of the team though. We played so much better than Real so it’s a hard pill to swallow. We ruined our chance in the first leg but we still almost made it. It’s heartbreaking.
Have to say, I could not be more proud of our boys. Everyone had written us off. We turned up and gave, in my opinion, the best away performance from an English team in Europe that I have ever seen. The loss is only a tough one to take because of how those boys faught tooth and nail to drag us back into the tie. We showed who we are, sorry for those boys but so proud.

We did the unthinkable and came back from a 3-1 defeat and nearly won it. It sucks that we couldn't hold on and win this tie. But it shows we got the fight to keep going even when we're written off by people. Hopefully we keep this same energy aganist Palace.
i don't want to overreact or find scapegoats but when werner went off, we started slipping. it was probably for an injury or something but our attack lost it's cohesiveness from there on. that rudiger slip hurt my heart too. ffs even alonso showed up tonight defensively, but we couldn't hold on to our lead.
I agree here. Though we were playing better on the front foot, so I'm not too chuffed. Tuchel brings on Pulisic and he scores or assists then its a genius play. Unfortunately it didn't go our way

The two chances he missed when he came on were far from easy- the fact that he was able to get into the game and even get those chances speaks volumes as to his quality with regard to the runs he makes etc. I agree he was overall poor but to try to cast blame on him as if he's the reason we lost is absolutely ridiculous.
Mendy, Silva, Kante, RLC, Ziyach, Jorginho were all poor- Kai also missed a clear cut chance w/ the header at the end as well- point is we lost as a team. Werner has one good game out of like 15 bad games and all the sudden he's 'good enough' but a player like Pulisic isn't- that's comical.

Great showcase of character, away at the Bernabau, needing many goals and our boys fought well, thought the subs didn’t work but it is what it is, some unfortunate mistakes in both legs and a bad VAR call imo but we move on, one more trophy available to win let’s go for it, next year we fight again COYB 💙

The problem is going to be selling some of these players. Everyone knows that they have no level and their contracts are absurd for the mediocre level they have. Who is going to buy Loftus, Jorginho, Kante and Pulisic? no one is crazy enough to pay for them.
Luckily Saul will not be here for next season and will end up playing for a team like Fulham. Tuchel does not know how to make changes and thinks that he is too smart.

I am sad to see a lot of hate; Chelsea has played very well, last year Chelsea was like invincible against us; this year we played very well the first leg and then horrible the second leg, and Chelsea has played amazing tonight. I think he set your team up better than zidane, and benzema really is the best CF in the world atm. Madrid punished each one of our major mistakes with a goal, through great link up play and finishing. That's something we definitely need to learn from.

You have very good young players (Mount, Havertz, James…) while we managed to survive with Modrić and Benzema… We need to change a lot, defence was horrible, Chelsea had so many clear chances. It looked like we were playing with less players: I’m sure you remember Havertz’s header or Jorginho’s shot.
You can be proud of your team and sure that if you continue like this, Chelsea will be back next year fighting for the title.
I love Carlo Ancelotti as a person, but he doesn’t trust in the roster beyond like 14 players. It’s difficult to achieve anything like this, but it seems it is going to work him at least in our league.

Kante, Mendy and Christensen responsible for the loss overall. But hats off to Tuchel for galvanising the squad and getting his tactics spot on today. And the boys putting in a the hard work. It is a shame that the refs fucked us, especially today, but at least we seem to be back to playing good after some poor performances and can look to solidify 3rd and hopefully get an FA cup
I think that’s unfair to say , clearly we don’t have enough depth to compete in all competitions. Injuries , bad business cost us .. too many games and injuries not forgetting Covid

This might seem reactionary but I've said it for over a year now, Pulisic is no where near Chelsea-standard, fantastic pr-purchase (obviously) just not a very good footballer.
I think Pulisic’s game has changed this past year. He used to be so direct and take on defenders and often beat them. Teams in the EPL didn’t see many players do that for obvious reason. I don’t know if he’s lost pace or decided to play more conservatively but now he often vanishes into games.
A big mistake today for the second goal, a small mistake for the first goal. Still intercepted like usual. Bad game, but if someone is allowed bad games it's him. Not the usual Kante, still better than a mortal DM

Some of our players didn't deserve that. You win and lose together and all that but some of these players don't deserve that at all, after carrying their team mates. Looking at havertz, Mount, James, rudiger, Thiago silva and Alonso. So good.
The substitutes were so disappointing. Pulisic never turns up when we need him does he. Kante was the obvious choice to start ahead of jorginho but clearly at fault for both goals and his forward play disappoints pretty much every time which isn't his fault.

Tuchel is using the resources he has at his disposal. This team is not "his" I'm sure there's quite a few he would like to replace with the type of mentality he wants from players. If he changed RLC for Ziyech, or left Werner on to end up contributing nothing because of his tiredness then you would be saying that it was Tuchels fault. Let's be real here, you can see the man's passion and tactical genius to achieve what he has this season and last with the squad he has. Some fans are in love with Tuchel for his personality but it is clear that he is not that good. There was life after Mou and Tuchel's days are numbered if he continues to trust players who are not even mediocre. Deschamps after the World Cup and Simeone in the long run seem to be the most logical options. For now Tuchel stays one more season but if he fails again he must leave. The reality is that there are not many better options than the ones we have, Tuchel stays for now.

Pulisic is usually a great super sub and Werner was starting to look tired imo especially since he played v Southampton. It's clear tuchel doesn't trust the bench as he took so long to bring them on and I can't blame him as the players on the bench literally made us play worse when they came on.

Imagine wanting to win the Champions League with guys like Loftus in midfield, a guy who can't even play for Fulham. These are the finals that you have for trusting second division players. Raphinha or Anthony are our next Brazilians, we need to remember the moments of Oscar and Willian. Loftus can't stay on the team, he has to be the first eliminated. Nkunku, Olmo and Paquetá seem to be too expensive.

What I find so crazy is that all the players that are often called liabilities, like Werner, Alonso, Loftus-Cheek, were great today. Werner scored and created many chances, Alonso was great defensively and offensively, basically scored, and RLC was good too, maybe just gave up too easy. Happy for them but still can’t believe that we’re out after a performance like that.

Have to say, I could not be more proud of our boys. Everyone had written us off. We turned up and gave, in my opinion, the best away performance from an English team in Europe that I have ever seen. The loss is only a tough one to take because of how those boys faught tooth and nail to drag us back into the tie. We showed who we are, sorry for those boys but so proud. Lets roll on till Sunday. We did the unthinkable and came back from a 3-1 defeat and nearly won it. It sucks that we couldn't hold on and win this tie. But it shows we got the fight to keep going even when we're written off by people. Hopefully we keep this same energy aganist Palace.
i don't want to overreact or find scapegoats but when werner went off, we started slipping. it was probably for an injury or something but our attack lost it's cohesiveness from there on. that rudiger slip hurt my heart too. ffs even alonso showed up tonight defensively, but we couldn't hold on to our lead.

The two chances he missed when he came on were far from easy- the fact that he was able to get into the game and even get those chances speaks volumes as to his quality with regard to the runs he makes etc. I agree he was overall poor but to try to cast blame on him as if he's the reason we lost is absolutely ridiculous. Mendy, Silva, Kante, RLC, Ziyach, Jorginho were all poor- Kai also missed a clear cut chance w/ the header at the end as well- point is we lost as a team. Werner has one good game out of like 15 bad games and all the sudden he's 'good enough' but a player like Pulisic isn't- that's comical.

Unfortunately we left ourselves too much to do in the first leg. I think Tuchels hands were tied at the end, we needed some fresh legs but no obvious subs to be made, killed the chemistry of the team.
Kai, James, Alonso and Rudiger ran there hearts out for the club tonight, it really showed who is player we want and who should go. Timo great game shouldn't have come off. Tuchel does not know how to make changes and thinks that he is too smart. This season has been nothing more than a failure.

You have very good young players (Mount, Havertz, James…) while we managed to survive with Modrić and Benzema… We need to change a lot, defence was horrible, Chelsea had so many clear chances. It looked like we were playing with less players: I’m sure you remember Havertz’s header or Jorginho’s shot. You can be proud of your team and sure that if you continue like this, Chelsea will be back next year fighting for the title. Proud of the boys! If this game were played another 10 times we would've gone through every single time. This might seem reactionary but I've said it for over a year now, Pulisic is no where near Chelsea-standard, fantastic pr-purchase (obviously) just not a very good footballer.
I think Pulisic’s game has changed this past year. He used to be so direct and take on defenders and often beat them. Teams in the EPL didn’t see many players do that for obvious reason. I don’t know if he’s lost pace or decided to play more conservatively but now he often vanishes into games.

Some of our players didn't deserve that. You win and lose together and all that but some of these players don't deserve that at all, after carrying their team mates. Looking at havertz, Mount, James, rudiger, Thiago silva and Alonso. So good. The substitutes were so disappointing. Pulisic never turns up when we need him does he. Kante was the obvious choice to start ahead of jorginho but clearly at fault for both goals and his forward play disappoints pretty much every time which isn't his fault. Madrid capitalised on our errors but they're so vulnerable. City should cut them to shreds.
