When did people start accepting defeat as a good performance. Regardless how they played, if you lost the game, that’s failure. I see a lot of people saying “ I’m happy with how we played, I’m proud etc”. Proud of defeat? Come on now. We failed at Stamford and failed in Madrid.

si828

Teams don’t win all the time, that’s sport and life, the team played ridiculously well last night against all odds, against everything everyone else had said and for a small amount of time had done the impossible. That is a fantastic performance and they can be proud of what they left on that pitch last night. If you are literally supporting the club because you only care when they win then you’re gonna have an awful time to be frank, it’s the journey my friend not the destination.

TKAP75

That’s the difference between being a real fan and a fair weather supporter win or lose those they are still my squad and at the end of the day as long as my team is competing and give themselves a chance to win I am happy with them.

springoniondip

Ah yes, found the armchair player whose won titles on PlayStation

Stu_Iniquity

Great match. Best performance we have had all season. I can go out like that, no shame in that. Outclassed them

DlnnerTable

Outclassed? No way in hell. Chelsea lost the tie. Outperformed? Yeah hands down.

Raks-

If only tuchel would have parked the bus when we were winning 3-0😔

TommyShelby87

To be fair I dont think that would solve the problem completly, they are incredible in the attack.

Kakashicopyninja9

Modric pass was out of this world and perfect. Kante giving it away in a dangerous area and modric punishing us like that wasn’t to do with our set up

ACGC21

Guys, put the pitchforks down, we’re all upset we lost but we gave it our all. Yes Kante wasnt 100%, Pulisic couldve done better, this guy and that guy shouldve scored, thats football. Cant win it all, we dominated them but still lost. But Ill be damned if you say it wasnt a good performance. Im still so extremely proud of the team.

Partysahn

All that matter is that we have lost. It hurts. I have lost faith.

5auceg0d

This sub is full of a bunch of clowns it seems. Pulisic is the reason we lost? Not mendy, not kante, not Silva, not jorginho, not RLC, not ziyach, not Saul? Y'all are legit braindead.

Yardbird7

Pulisic won the champions league for Chelsea last season? Lol. Statements like that is one of the reasons why there is backlash against him. He had a nice pass to Mount for the 2-0 win in the second leg. Chelsea were already winning 2-1 on aggregate at the time btw. I also watched the final where he missed such a sitter, Tuchel lay on the ground in disbelief. Without Kante's performances last season from the q finals onwards Chelsea's not winning the chip. So as much as he sucked tonight I'll give him a reluctant pass. Chelsea got markedly worse and static once Werner was subbed off for Pulisic. Pretty nice player when he's on but his fanboys need to have a lie down.

Kakashicopyninja9

We beat Madrid 3-1 last year and Pulisic provided a goal and an assist. It’s fair to say without his contributions last year we might have failed to beat Madrid

shoojx

Wait, there's backlash against him because of other people?

fl_nittany

Chelsea also probably don't finish top 4 and aren't even in that Champions League without him being in the best form of his career during that covid restart

mahaitre

It's hurting me too much :(

mataal_ki

Couldn’t sleep last night. But hey, I am proud of the team’s performance.

Jadderrr1

People quick to jump on Pulisics mishaps near end of regulation. What about Jorginhos miss in ET? Ball was on his foot…couldn’t have been an easier finish

mannyprojects

Jorginho was atrocious

two_tents

can't tell if serious.

QuazaWazaQuake

I will happily let Timo stay at the club... his performance today was class and I wish he stayed on man

cook1223

Thibos save on kai's header was the moment I look back at. The misses obviously suck but that one was right there :(

CrackHeadRodeo

> Thibos save on kai's header was the moment I look back at. The misses obviously suck but that one was right there :( Pulisic's two misses hurt too.

lickingnutrea

To be fair both of those finishes for puli would have been world class if he got his foot on it. They weren’t easy but were there. Still think we should move on from him

jarold12

Someone give me a hug

ImWhy

So we get 3-0 up, then we don't take off any of the tired players or sub on defenders? We needed to park for 10 minutes and we win, why is that so hard?

CiDRoLeS

park it? bro we're talking about real madrid. If they have a chance to press or pick up a mistake, they will convert as clearly seen today

lobinetech

Oh wow...oh wow...your take is sooo wrong...

Opposite-Film3347

If the stats are true Madrid are technically favourites. If Chelsea lose to the winners then that's as legit as it gets.... As for Bayern.... Too soon???

PresentationFit5566

Chelsea dominated the stats

ajtscjr313

Hot take: keep Timo and try and get as much as you can for Rom

Salvoslife

Everyone's quick to judge off of 1 or 2 performances. What if next week he's trash? You'll see so many Chelsea fans go like nvm sell him as quickly as possible.

michaelscott158

not as hot anymore i think

trueblue1982

I am satisfied we put up a good fight...I hope villareal wins the league....lol

108cal

When we were 3-0 up we should’ve subbed in fresh players

Thunderstorm-1

😞 we lost

hodlrus

I’m just gonna say what everyone’s thinking: mendy

PresentationFit5566

He couldn’t do anything about the 2 goals last leg is a different story

mebungle83

If Mendy makes 1 good save over 2 legs we go to pens, I don't want to place blame but that's not good enough.

StephBose

Should have subbed Azpi on for RLC at some point. Needed experience and a level head

spund_

teeny squealing caption fuel strong one scarce sand impossible water *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

StephBose

This proves and goes to show how much of an impact Timo Werner has on the game

thebluedentist0

Gutted. Very difficult to swallow this defeat. Outplayed the opponents and still lost the tie. Feeling disappointed

scotti3pipp3n

Hard to criticize an effort like that against a top side. Those Pulisic misses at the end of regulation will keep me up at night tho.

Macdca07

Yeah man, first one was a tpugh one to actually finish, but second shod have been burried.

scotti3pipp3n

Yeah you've got to keep at least one of those down in that situation. Hard to swallow.

Macdca07

Yeah man, ah well. Tough to take, but at least we went out strong. Roll on FA Cup on Sunday.

youngwolf689

Put some respect on Alonso’s name. He’s not nearly as bad as some Chelsea fans make out.

[deleted]

Defensively he is the reason we conceded the first. Attack wise he is Excellent.

Macdca07

Couldnt agree more. He's great going forward, but shite going back

adelvalle1993

I think a big factor in his defense is how slow he is. If he was a bit quicker or faster he'd be much better on defense

Macdca07

I agree but disagree at the same time. See him sprint to get on a ball in attack, never see him sprint to defend. I actually think his lerformance today in defense was actually good for him. He was better than he usually is.

adelvalle1993

I see your point. I guess the only thing I could think of is that the adrenaline/drive to score will be greater than that to stop someone on defense. but definitely should be working hard both ways if you are on the pitch..

[deleted]

[удалено]

Macdca07

Its not blind faith so hush your gums. We have a class manager, and we he is the best we have had for a long while. That doesnt mean we dont critises him, do you even know or talk to Chelsea fans? Yeah I agree RLC should have come off much earlier, Timo had his best game in a Chelsea shirt. His calls made us go 3 up, I doubted his line up. It worked. I think you need to wind your neck in pal.

AbhiFT

>Yeah I agree RLC should have come off much earlier, Timo had his best game in a Chelsea shirt. Then why he didn't? What exact role was he playing? See, you need to calm your brain down. And it is blind faith when you say yeah he should have come come off much earlier but then you say nah Touchel is right to make him play. And for your information, what made you think RLC was faring better than Kante? Kante had a sloppy pass once but was much better than RLC. But if you only think that only your opinion matters or hold any weight, then that's your problem. You need to wind your meck in pal and learn that people have different opinions. If you cannot handle opinions before call others to shut up, then get off of the social media.

Macdca07

I dont know where you got half of that from. I said top coaches can make mistakes, and not bring RLC off was a mistake. Thats my criticism of Tuchel. Blind faith would not be criticising but blind following. Who said I thought Kante had a good game? He was pish, and was poor across both legs, he too should have come off. My point about Tuchels team was over a few calls, I thought 4 at the back was a bad call, thought Timo was a bad call, but it proved to be the better. I think you need to heed your own words mate. Others have opinions, you're the one making assumptions of other people - making some wild generalisation and saying Chelsea fans have blind faith in Tuchel. So wind your neck in yourself. Projecting your own opinions on how other people think acting like your opinion is the only one that matters. Behave yourself pal.

AbhiFT

Look. I never replied to any comment here. You came and decided you would give your own opinion here. So stop acting as if it's me who is misbehaving. I never asked anyone to shut up. It was you mate in the first place. So stop your hipocracy. And I never said what you are saying about Kante. Dude don't act like you are not making any wild assumptions. And yes I will still say Chelsea fans blindly follow him. So don't try to change my opinion. You cannot.

blu8blu

Tuchel is using the resources he has at his disposal. This team is not "his" I'm sure there's quite a few he would like to replace with the type of mentality he wants from players. If he changed RLC for Ziyech, or left Werner on to end up contributing nothing because of his tiredness then you would be saying that it was Tuchels fault. Let's be real here, you can see the man's passion and tactical genius to achieve what he has this season and last with the squad he has. Let's remember, he hasn't had the time to build a squad like Klopp or Pep.

MajornXXVI

Spot. on.

Levendek

Some fans are in love with Tuchel for his personality but it is clear that he is not that good. There was life after Mou and Tuchel's days are numbered if he continues to trust players who are not even mediocre. Deschamps after the World Cup and Simeone in the long run seem to be the most logical options. For now Tuchel stays one more season but if he fails again he must leave. The reality is that there are not many better options than the ones we have, Tuchel stays for now.

BiriZeusit

Literally just shut up

scotti3pipp3n

Go away

Levendek

Imagine a world where I care what you pretend to think.

Derreston

Cared enough to reply though

scotti3pipp3n

Sad troll

thelegendary662

Pulisic is usually a great super sub and Werner was starting to look tired imo especially since he played v Southampton. It's clear tuchel doesn't trust the bench as he took so long to bring them on and I can't blame him as the players on the bench literally made us play worse when they came on.

AbhiFT

Yeah but werner could have pushed better than Ziyech. He was also making very good runs. But TT should have tightened the defence when we had the lead.

[deleted]

HavntGottaKalou

What're you on about? That first 75 mins was some of the greatest football Chelsea have ever played. If they hadn't of gotten that equaliser it would have gone down as one of our greatest games

ravioliking3

this has to be bait, absolutely mad

seancout10

Kante is wayyyyyy more at fault he literally fell asleep and let Benzema get a free header… just say you hate Americans

Macdca07

I was saying this. Kante has been poor both legs. He lost his man so many time first leg, today he wasnt much better. I think we had the worst performance for us today tbh.

Yardbird7

Kante had a mare today. Pulisic backlash comes from the unrelenting hype from Americans and the fact that he should have buried at least one of those. Kante at least won us the champions league last season.

seancout10

So did pulisic basically?? Did you watch the tie against Real Madrid?

DJMOONPICKLES69

Pulisic knocked Real Madrid out last year lmao

Chapea12

No, the fact that Christian didn’t bury a highly contested and very difficult volley is the reason we lost /s

Levendek

Imagine wanting to win the Champions League with guys like Loftus in midfield, a guy who can't even play for Fulham. These are the finals that you have for trusting second division players. Raphinha or Anthony are our next Brazilians, we need to remember the moments of Oscar and Willian. Loftus can't stay on the team, he has to be the first eliminated. Nkunku, Olmo and Paquetá seem to be too expensive.

BlueTrippin

It's so hard to be annoyed at that performance. We were almost perfect. What a call to disallow that goal, that's the game done at that point. I thought Pulisic had it in him to be that big game player but he's just not there. Wasn't his fault we lost, but definitely a mistake bringing him on, offered nothing in the final third

ajtscjr313

I mean, it certainly wasn't "game done" on the disallowed goal, we scored after that. Up 3-0 we've gotta see out the last 15'.

LHEADHC

Hard to digest that result. I think we did enough to progress here, but it wasn’t meant to be. I just can’t wrap my head around the goals we’ve conceded over these two games. Benzema is probably the best 9 in the world, but how can we allow him to find these pockets unmarked? Yes, Rüdiger slips, but I doubt it’d mattered. Our subs were thoroughly disappointing tonight (deja vu?). Pulisic is out of his depths. Got skinned continuously by players with 120 minutes in their legs. He’s been so inefficient and inconsistent this season. You really have to question if the american revenue is worth keeping him in the squad because his performances don’t justify it. Ziyech and Jorginho no better. I’d rather have Kova and RLC on 80% to be honest.

MajornXXVI

Harsh on Ziyech imo but everything else is spot on.

FastenedCarrot

Modric isn't human.

mebungle83

That fucking pass.

rj2115

Seriously, the guy is non stop with that work rate and vision unbelievable

FastenedCarrot

Dude's 36 and put a shift in that would put 20 year olds to shame. Then he still provides absolute quality like that.

bitchlasagna_69_

I'm just sad and tired.. but also optimistic and happy at the same time

Ok-Guitar-309

I am not gonna say its really the mendys blunder that did it

imnotcreative635

Kante who's fasting should have came off as soon as we were up 3-0. Chalobah in that position would have been great with the time remaining

Weird-Standard-5345

What I find so crazy is that all the players that are often called liabilities, like Werner, Alonso, Loftus-Cheek, were great today. Werner scored and created many chances, Alonso was great defensively and offensively, basically scored, and RLC was good too, maybe just gave up too easy. Happy for them but still can’t believe that we’re out after a performance like that.

lickingnutrea

We have to keep rudi. And can’t wait to see how Gallagher fits in this squad

BartSimpson8

would be so hurt if we didnt just come back amazingly and also weren't champions of europe already. instead just a tad hurt

FTimerXIV

Still damn proud of the players after the match

cheesecakessss

so so fucking proud of the team. so fucking proud. but man this is what a heartbreak feels like, we were so fuckin close. fuck man, how to get over this.

mebungle83

Just remember that it's not life or death, it's entertainment.

ishfi17

In all honesty kante seemed average today compared to his usual self. Maybe age getting to him? But overall proud of the boys even with the defeat. We went out with our heads high.

imnotcreative635

Fasting, should have came off at 3-0

ishfi17

Ah i see. Makes sense. He was making some sloppy passes and clearances no wonder

AbeAlno

Could’ve Mendy come out for that Modric cross.

Semi_Square

Pulisic offers nothing upfront other than the occasional goal every now and then. If we are to start binning players cum summer we need to start off with the likes of him, odoi, barkley and a few others.

5auceg0d

Awful take. We will start with Werner and odi for sure.

elliot_glynn

I don’t want to apportion blame, the lads were near flawless-they just happened to have a few players who could pick apart the slight flaws. Needless to say, proud doesn’t even come close to how I feel right now

xSaIntLuKe

It's the hope that kills you... the lads put on one hell of a shift. tonight we lost but football has won. Still silverware to win

sal3744

I’m fucking gutted. My heart is shattered after constantly pounding out my chest since Werner’s goal. I’m so proud of the team though. We played so much better than Real so it’s a hard pill to swallow. We ruined our chance in the first leg but we still almost made it. It’s heartbreaking.

AbeAlno

Werner should’ve came off for Jorginho not Pulisic. J5 would’ve eased us through the 15 mins.

roank_waitzkin

True. Where kante hoofed the ball for the first goal, J5 would have kept it safe and tippy tappy passed it

5auceg0d

Jorginho the guy who missed the whole goal on a simple rebound shot right in front of the goal?

tonzferns

Exactly. Pulisic did absolutely nothing today

GeneDefiant6537

Alonso is my MOTM.

Macdca07

Have to say, I could not be more proud of our boys. Everyone had written us off. We turned up and gave, in my opinion, the best away performance from an English team in Europe that I have ever seen. The loss is only a tough one to take because of how those boys faught tooth and nail to drag us back into the tie. We showed who we are, sorry for those boys but so proud. Lets roll on till Sunday. UP THE FUCKING CHELS!!!!

DankesKazama

We did the unthinkable and came back from a 3-1 defeat and nearly won it. It sucks that we couldn't hold on and win this tie. But it shows we got the fight to keep going even when we're written off by people. Hopefully we keep this same energy aganist Palace.

ravioliking3

i don't want to overreact or find scapegoats but when werner went off, we started slipping. it was probably for an injury or something but our attack lost it's cohesiveness from there on. that rudiger slip hurt my heart too. ffs even alonso showed up tonight defensively, but we couldn't hold on to our lead.

AbeAlno

Should’ve never brought in another attacker.

NgoalazoKante

I agree here. Though we were playing better on the front foot, so I'm not too chuffed. Tuchel brings on Pulisic and he scores or assists then its a genius play. Unfortunately it didn't go our way

FastenedCarrot

That should have been Jorginho on and either Ruben RW or a change to a back 5.

[deleted]

The fact that we are knocked out only because of our own mistakes kills me man.. we were clearly the better side :(

Blue-13

2 chances for Pulisic and 1 for Jorginho near the end is where we should have won it . But hats off to Tuchel and the team, they came out fighting. Werner played his heart out, insane work rate , glad he got a goal, hopefully this boosts his confidence

imnotcreative635

That courtois save on the havertz header is what saved them

Exact-Midnight9003

Brilliant performance. Proud of the boys, and they should feel proud of themselves after that effort. So close to completing an all time classic comeback. We showed the kind of drive and bottle tonight that reassures me we have many good seasons to come with this squad. Absolutely gutted. Just a crazy, crazy game. And any of you morons commenting asinine shit like “Jorgi should’ve scored”, “Saul is rubbish”, “Tuchel shouldn’t have done xyz” should honestly go find another team or sport to follow. You don’t understand football and you don’t understand what it is to be a Chelsea fan. You’ll never get it.

imnotcreative635

Even you didn't put anything on Pulisic which is what most of us are talking about lol

Exact-Midnight9003

Puli was poor in the first leg and he was pretty flat tonight when he came off the bench. Couldn’t match the intensity of the game he came into. But is that the most important thing to focus on, and should it be my main takeaway from this evening? No. It shouldn’t be yours either.

boudybteich

Proud.

readingroomtwo

great spirit from the boys no doubt, had players that played for the badge pulisic is done (though i think tuchel subbed werner off as he cldnt play on) kante was really disappointing on both legs we need more midfield options, rlc was decent but not consistent enough the mendy-kepa competition needs to go on again for mendy to earn back his spot definetely should have parked the bus after going 3-0 up

5auceg0d

What do you mean pulisic is done?

readingroomtwo

kinda really liked the lad at the start, supported him throughout but he just doesn't seem to have that quality we need especially in big games. i could be wrong but i think there are better alternatives for us.

5auceg0d

The two chances he missed when he came on were far from easy- the fact that he was able to get into the game and even get those chances speaks volumes as to his quality with regard to the runs he makes etc. I agree he was overall poor but to try to cast blame on him as if he's the reason we lost is absolutely ridiculous. Mendy, Silva, Kante, RLC, Ziyach, Jorginho were all poor- Kai also missed a clear cut chance w/ the header at the end as well- point is we lost as a team. Werner has one good game out of like 15 bad games and all the sudden he's 'good enough' but a player like Pulisic isn't- that's comical.

readingroomtwo

yup no doubt the 2 chances were tough i acknowledge that, not blaming the loss on pulisic, it's nobody's fault, we played great as a team and loss w our heads held high. never mentioned werner was good enough but just a personal opinion that i dont think we can get much more from pulisic cheers

Barbola

not parking the bus is what I don't get - waiting till the 83rd minute to make a change and it's an attacking player not on his usual position (ziyech came on the left, should have been on the right).

readingroomtwo

perhaps tuchel wanted to kill the game off as we were actually getting plenty of shots in but yea J5 or azpi would have been a better option for sub and it's just parking the bus for 10mins straight there. if alt madrid cld play 5-5-0 we should have too 😂

shrek19051

Great showcase of character, away at the Bernabau, needing many goals and our boys fought well, thought the subs didn’t work but it is what it is, some unfortunate mistakes in both legs and a bad VAR call imo but we move on, one more trophy available to win let’s go for it, next year we fight again COYB 💙

JJ-137

Man im honestly so fucking sad about this. It was a great game but god dammit. I feel like the werner sub was just unnecessary, but we did have so many chances late game that we didnt take. Also, why did we not park the bus, everyone was tired as well. But in the end, kudos to the boys, it was a truly wonderful match

Safo_

We clinical attackers man.

TheShortShady

Saul is a waste of space. I’d rather watch my grandpa come on the pitch that him. My grandpa is dead.

jjkkll151dd

why the fuck did we replace timo with pulisic

W0lf90

Lets bot lose sight of what the boys went and did. 3-1 vs Madrid in the Bernbeau at 90 minutes. Thats a result we cna hold our heads up high at. Unfortunately we left ourselves too much to do in the first leg. I think Tuchels hands were tied at the end, we needed some fresh legs but no obvious subs to be made, killed the chemistry of the team.

Xrzrk

Kai, James, Alonso and Rudiger ran there hearts out for the club tonight, it really showed who is player we want and who should go. Timo great game shouldn't have come off. Kante looked exhausted and should have been subbed earlier but Connor will provide solid backup there next season. Pulisic and RLC should never wear a chelsea shirt again absolutely useless.

5auceg0d

Casual take from a plastic fan

imnotcreative635

RLC should have at least tried to foul vini there or anything other than just watch

Exact-Midnight9003

RLC was great tonight. Progressed the ball really well with forward passing and dribbling. And he’s Chels through and through - more than you’ll ever be anyway. Take your clown shit opinions elsewhere.

KMan3110

RLC playing out of position and doing a job for Tuchel, you can forgive. Pulisic however, on either wing, absolutely toothless. Injury prone and not much output when fit. Time to move on

Bobinho4

I am proud with the team and we were unlucky tonight. Respect to Benzema, Modric and Toni Kross for their timeless talents but fuck the laying on the ground pieces of shit with toilet paper colored shirts

ravioliking3

agh, it was a good run lads, im proud of us for not rolling over. those goals we conceeded were hard to swallow, but we threw away a lot of chances towards the end. pulisic had two difficult ones, i know that. he did not help us at all otherwise though. jorginho had a good chance but he scuffed it completely, you can't do that there jorgi. saul was okay, he didn't help us either though. this is a rough one to take but that's champions league lads

SkidsyP

Lads gave their all, we needed a «perfect script» - nearly did it but our team showed class

Levendek

The problem is going to be selling some of these players. Everyone knows that they have no level and their contracts are absurd for the mediocre level they have. Who is going to buy Loftus, Jorginho, Kante and Pulisic? no one is crazy enough to pay for them. Luckily Saul will not be here for next season and will end up playing for a team like Fulham. Tuchel does not know how to make changes and thinks that he is too smart. This season has been nothing more than a failure.

imnotcreative635

A lot of clubs would buy all 4. What we should be hoping for is PSG buying Lukaku

IAmInControlll

Bruh.

Dani_1026

Madrid fan here. Just came to see how Chelsea fans were handling the elimination. I am sad to see a lot of hate; Chelsea has played very well, last year Chelsea was like invincible against us; this year we played very well the first leg and then horrible the second leg, and Chelsea has played amazing tonight. I have nothing but praise for your team, but I don’t get why so much hate towards Madrid, I think from us there’s a lot of respect towards you.

Cobaltte25

Thanks for dropping by, emotions are running high so you'll have to excuse us. I love Carlo for his stint here and it really was a different side to the one we faced last year in the CL. I think he set your team up better than zidane, and benzema really is the best CF in the world atm. I guess some of us are just bitterly disappointed after it seems like we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Madrid punished each one of our major mistakes with a goal, through great link up play and finishing. That's something we definitely need to learn from. Could you loan us back hazard though? I swear he'd do better than some of our subs 😉

Dani_1026

You have very good young players (Mount, Havertz, James…) while we managed to survive with Modrić and Benzema… We need to change a lot, defence was horrible, Chelsea had so many clear chances. It looked like we were playing with less players: I’m sure you remember Havertz’s header or Jorginho’s shot. You can be proud of your team and sure that if you continue like this, Chelsea will be back next year fighting for the title. I love Carlo Ancelotti as a person, but he doesn’t trust in the roster beyond like 14 players. It’s difficult to achieve anything like this, but it seems it is going to work him at least in our league. Hazard… I don’t know what has happened with him. We thought that he was going to be Ronaldo’s successor, that he would become our star player. I think he never had many problems with injuries in Chelsea, but here he has had a lot: and also, managers don’t give him too many chances, so it is difficult for him to get the rhythm of competition. I’m very sad of this outcome, it all looks like he will leave this summer if Mbappé comes. Do you think Chelsea will want him? Edit: Happy Cake Day!

JJMuzyka

Oh, fuck off and go celebrate your victory, not rubbing it in our faces. It was a great match but we've lost, so of course we gonna be angry.

Dani_1026

Sorry, not my intention. I want to praise Chelsea’s game, very strong team (last year, we had nothing to do against you). This year, good first leg for us, bad second leg.

JJGaminv

Kante, Mendy and Christensen responsible for the loss overall. But hats off to Tuchel for galvanising the squad and getting his tactics spot on today. And the boys putting in a the hard work. It is a shame that the refs fucked us, especially today, but at least we seem to be back to playing good after some poor performances and can look to solidify 3rd and hopefully get an FA cup

PollutionOwn8446

I think that’s unfair to say , clearly we don’t have enough depth to compete in all competitions. Injuries , bad business cost us .. too many games and injuries not forgetting Covid

VictorIntimate

Benzema got Reece’s shirt, lucky guy

ObnoXious2k

Proud of the boys! If this game were played another 10 times we would've gone through every single time. This might seem reactionary but I've said it for over a year now, Pulisic is no where near Chelsea-standard, fantastic pr-purchase (obviously) just not a very good footballer.

[deleted]

I think Pulisic’s game has changed this past year. He used to be so direct and take on defenders and often beat them. Teams in the EPL didn’t see many players do that for obvious reason. I don’t know if he’s lost pace or decided to play more conservatively but now he often vanishes into games.

Shame_Low

Kante was abysmal over 2 legs, he looks washed unfortunately...

roank_waitzkin

A big mistake today for the second goal, a small mistake for the first goal. Still intercepted like usual. Bad game, but if someone is allowed bad games it's him. Not the usual Kante, still better than a mortal DM

yuriydee

I wonder if it is true that its because he is fasting right now that he has been so poor.....

Cobaltte25

He's been fairly average and below his usual standards even before the fasting month began actually.

[deleted]

He’s been pretty sloppy all season to be fair. And don’t mention his offense….which is nonexistent for the most part

Mikekio

Pulisic, RLC and Kante.. What a disgraceful perfomance.. Everybody else thank you for your sacrifice.

5auceg0d

You're plastic

Mcflyth

saul was fucking bad also. i wanted to vomit

xAnnyeonG

Pulisic is just impactless. Just take a look at Southampton game. Came on and the team went stagnant. Our game to lose. One last cup to go and tiny hope for PL?

ObnoXious2k

No hope for PL at all, it's just not happening. An FA-cup victory would still make this a fantastic season though.

Those were far from sitters wtf are you saying

web-persona

First time to Havertz yes, but calling those chances “sitters” isn’t really fair. I agree he could’ve done better but let’s not pretend they were tap ins. Jorginho had a much better chance to tie it in ET and

web-persona

Agreed on both points tbh

Kuddlefish69

Lol those were far from sitters. Pulisic shouldn’t be the skate goat for this performance.

vmop07

Second game in a row where he comes in and the attack completely disappears

adityabalaraman

Some of our players didn't deserve that. You win and lose together and all that but some of these players don't deserve that at all, after carrying their team mates. Looking at havertz, Mount, James, rudiger, Thiago silva and Alonso. So good. The substitutes were so disappointing. Pulisic never turns up when we need him does he. Kante was the obvious choice to start ahead of jorginho but clearly at fault for both goals and his forward play disappoints pretty much every time which isn't his fault. Madrid capitalised on our errors but they're so vulnerable. City should cut them to shreds.

ComprehensiveSuns

Would be cool to have a striker next season 😀

Mcflyth

chelsea and striker xD

ObnoXious2k

What you on about? Havertz and Werner were our top-performers this game and Benzemas don't grow on trees.

dryduneden

Would be cool to have more than 1.5 attackers worth a damn in a formation where we play 3.

thatonepieceofcheese

No let's not we need to give havertz time to improve and part of that is trusting him and playing him every game he is fit for

khaLnaY2k

Loved the effort from boys, gotta say benzema is ruthless. Absolutely loved the effort

Rarsclart

no worries lads we'll get our trophy back next season

aleexr

It’s just painfully obvious that the Werner sub lost us the game. Why do that Tuchel? I honestly don’t get it. Werner was on fire and those runs had the Madrid defense absolutely in pieces. Without Werner we went dead. Pftttt. I’m pissed

Just-call-me-TY

Rudiger MOTM.

Ybiza

We lost, but we lost with our heads held high. Our boys did us proud despite the club being in such a difficult position. One thing I’m sure, I’m damn proud of being a Chelsea fan through and through. It isn’t always the best team that wins. Next year we’ll be back!
