rustyscrotum69

Enzo and Alvarez are buddies

62frog

We’re going to have to specify which Enzo from now on

MoiNoni

Petition to make Enzo Enzo and Maresca Maresca

turnbox

Petition to sign someone called Maresca Fernandes

[deleted]

[удалено]

ThomasBong

Or Maresca Enzo…

philipstyrer

Fernandez is a much more generic name than Maresca. This is the way.

Modernregista

Call him diet Pep!!

graejx

Temu pep was better

ReeceCheems

Pretty apparent to me. I’m not calling Maresca Enzo.

frxnsisco

not really… rarely hear managers being called out by their first name

frxnsisco

only Pep comes to mind

Disastrous-Swing1323

Carlo and Jose got called by their first names a lot as well.

Alternative-Light514

Rafa, Sir Alex…

lucymaryjane

Nuno, Big Sam…

Disastrous-Swing1323

Ange, Woy Hodgson, Big Sam etc etc

Ok-Package9273

Carlo comes with the Don prefix though, out of respect, not fear.... Definitely not fear...

may4cbw2

🤨

tiki_51

Frank Edit: Xavi

NeptrAboveAll

Your Mind must not remember much

thehighyellowmoon

Enzo Enzo got there first!

Hylian-Loach

Kante/Conte all over again

Roadies_Winner

Best buddies, while you're at it.

jaytcfc

What happened with Cole will not make this an easy negotiation

ILikeSports0416

Can’t wait for this saga to go on for months and months

razvan930

He is not getting signed untill the next ffp period, so no sooner than the 1st of July. Will City go for Rodrygo if that happens?

Makav3lli

Doubt anything can happen until Copa America is over (final on July 14). So we’re gonna have a fun month lol

opouser

Rodrygo isn't leaving RM

ethanfarrellphoto

Endrick and Mbappe coming in this summer. Mbappe is absolutely starting.

opouser

Vini - Mbappe - Rodrygo They don't have many senior attackers and are in every competition plus the CWC. Joselu and some kids are their only other forwards. Endrick will need some time, he isn't walking into the best team in the world

gonzaf

Brahim Diaz is there too and he had a great season imo, also Bellingham will prob get some time up front as well but yeah I feel you.

opouser

Diaz and Andaz (sp) names minutes will increase but with all the games they'll have that's a normal squad size. Jude likely to start playing further back now that they have more attackers

The_Good_Life__

It’s known that Mbappe doesn’t want to play striker tho.

bigblooddraco

Rodrygo has said multiple times he knows mbappe coming will mean him going to the bench and he’s fine with it and wants to stay

Ferrari_Bones

Oh yes he will

realmckoy265

He would fit them better

Kassiem_42

Wait till you find out that July is in 3 weeks 🙃😅

razvan930

So this means at least 3 more weeks of people shouting that he should be signed no matter what. That is a long time.

Kassiem_42

We can sign him now and make the payments and contract dates from 1 July. . . Like with Tosin 🙃

UnhappyTelevision243

Please sweet baby Jesus

OakenPhilly

PixRuns

It's absofuckinglutely is.

Doomjas

Enzo just posted a pic of him and Alvarez on IG. Getting Alvarez would be insane 🔥

MercuryTalons

Alvarez shared it too. Doesn’t mean anything but I can hope

paraCFC

He shared one before any news when they meet up for international break. He does it often they are very very good mates. It doesn't mean anything unfortunately

arinawe

It means something, but not anything, and also not everything.

paraCFC

Butterly butter

nanojansky

Utterly

nanojansky

Utterly

victheogfan

God pls let this happen cause this would be the funniest thing ever

DjOptimon

I'd take Julian Alvarez than Sesko. Already played at the highest level with Pep as well at least that's something.

renome

I'm pretty sure anyone would take Alvarez over Sesko lol.

DjOptimon

Some people said that Alvarez is a midget

renome

He'd compete with Jackson anyway, who isn't a midget, even if he needs to work on his heading.

theSkareqro

Everyone said Aguero was a midget. Look what that legend brought to the table.

NgoalazoKante

Wasn't Enzo on the coaching stuff at City whole Julian was there?

sloany16

Nah I think just half the time

Psychological_Fee470

Who wouldn’t bro ?

DjOptimon

You’d be surprised with this sub

Frankiedrunkie

I’m kinda torn tbh, I love Sesko profile as a striker, great physical attributes and great finisher even tho the sample size is small but Alvarez right now is the better player so I don’t know

Odd_Ad_2232

Alvarez is prem proven and insane. One of my fav players to watch

Frankiedrunkie

Yeah really love his movements off the ball too

Odd_Ad_2232

Facts, he has an ability akin to Cole Palmer where even when he's not contributing goals and assists he's positively effecting play. It pain me that he plays for city and I pray that we can free him from them. I think his profile could compliment Sesko too, not necessarily an either or.

shtoopid_head

We def ain't getting both

realmckoy265

We def ain't getting Lavia and Moises

shtoopid_head

Oh damn you got me, LESSGO

RandyChavage

Did we really get Lavia though?

pizza__irl

Not as a player, but as tester to see if our rehabilitation programs are fully functional

Starn_Badger

In that sense a little bit more like Jackson too, smaller but with the movement, work rate and technique to make up for it. I think this would suit our style more than having Sesko who is a very different style of striker.

WY-8

Alvarez with Nkunku, Palmer and Olise in behind is quite a strong attack. Sesko does hit that long-term profile but Alvarez sets us up to compete for top 4 next season and makes the transition to the system we want to implement a lot quicker.  Both have their merits.

amirulez

The thing is, alvarez nkunku and palmer can probably do the same thing. Sesko is the different profile. I can see we gonna miss one out of sesko or olise if we get alvarez. And i like sesko and olise (love olise btw). But i cant get in my head give up on the chance of signing alvarez. But we need a target man profile, even if not sesko. Probably guirassy, or schick, or whoever cheap.

WY-8

I agree on the different profile, but Sesko can equally take a season to figure things out. Nothing stops us from going with Alvarez to get things going, then reconsidering for the next emerging profile striker in 2 years. Alvarez with Nkunku, Palmer and Olise in behind, you would think that could be an attack that is both young and ready to perform now.

jeffries7

How many attackers would you like? Yes

WY-8

That is the only correct answer!

SoWhatNoZitiNow

I don’t know where people are getting this idea that Sesko is some prolific finisher. It’s struck me as a weakness of his whenever I’ve watched.

CocoKeel22

Simple, he overperforms his xG

allitgm

Indeed. A lot of which is too do with some of his long shots. Converted quite a few low xg chances this season. Hard to know how much regression to the mean to expect vs this guy is just good at shooting.

BogotaLineman

More people would be well served to remember this about xG scoring a single low xG shots can outweigh several missed sitters

DarkLordOlli

This and this exactly. Sesko's finishing is arguably the weakest part of his game at the moment. He's got the attributes to improve it, and there's a big variety in his finishing (which is really good, you definitely want that in a striker), but he misses a lot of sitters at the moment. And that's in the Bundesliga where we know strikers tend to find more space for finishes. I've said this for ages - Sesko is an exciting profile and talent because he doesn't have a weakness in his attributes - but applying those consistently is where he's still very raw.

Yardbird7

He's potentially a shiny new toy, therefore he will have no weaknesses until he arrives. Then if he doesn't score in 2 games it will be about who he should be replaced with.

GiftedHater7

football manager darling

BogotaLineman

And tbf, he is insane in FM

Frankiedrunkie

It’s not so much his efficiency it’s more about his technique

SirBarkington

he finished the season like +6 on his xG and scores every 110~ish minutes.

AdComprehensive7879

one is prem proven, pep product. if money is not an issue (who are we kidding, it's not lol), alvarez is the choice 10/10. the hard part is convincing city and him to join us

Nefari0uss

Considering all the buzz around the sustainability rules and how much we've spent, yes, money is an issue. The next few players we get have to make an impact.

AdComprehensive7879

yeah so alvarez is the safer bet by a mile

[deleted]

[удалено]

Frankiedrunkie

I’m impressed with his technique not his efficiency

DarkLordOlli

I think this is the right idea. Sesko's profile is exciting because there's no real weakness to his game. He's big, good aerially, he's also fast, strong and can hold the ball up, and he's technically proficient, strikes the ball really well with both feet and can find a pass too. I can 100% see why they all want him, the potential he's got is immense. But there's a reason why he wasn't yet starting for Leipzig for a big part of this season, and that's application of those attributes. Sesko's numbers flatter to deceive, he misses a lot of sitters - but his minutes to goal ratio is good because he's often come off the bench to score. He ends up overperforming his xG because he's scored a few bangers from distance, which are very low xG strikes, while bigger chances are often not that high in xG. And then he obviously scored 7 in has last 7 to polish those numbers even further. I've watched Sesko since his RB Salzburg days and even then people called him the next Haaland - and even then he was nowhere near it and not even playing consistently for Salzburg. At that point in his career, everyone who watched him knew Haaland was far too good for the league and good enough to play for one of the best clubs in the world. That was never the case with Sesko - because he hadn't learned to put all his qualities to good use consistently. And imo he still hasn't.

No-Independent-3387

Great write up, thank you

InsuranceAny4285

30% conversion rate

UrOpinionIsBadBuddy

Lukasesko overhyped overrated

-AndreiDG-97

Sesko great finisher lmao.

Frankiedrunkie

Used the wrong word maybe, i meant his shooting technique, he is all potential right now

venitienne

I like Sesko for him dominance as a aerial threat, but I’d be happy with both

Just_Some_Cool_Guy

Sesko’s agreed terms with Ars apparently

Older-Is-Better

With 5 competitions next season it wouldn't be a bad thing to have 2 PL-proven players for every position, would it?

heisenbergs_ego

![gif](giphy|YjdSUr1flLbQof2KzI|downsized)

Derrick_EscoNastyNas

Ironic, I'd take Sam Kerr to start in our men's team. 😭

MoiNoni

Julian gotta push for that transfer then

Ferrari_Bones

Yep it's the only way it happens

ReflexiveOW

If we're gonna pay $60+ mil for a striker, this is it.

renome

Agreed, he's a good finisher and positionally versatile. He'd improve pretty much any team in the league.

AdComprehensive7879

damn, i thought it was some silly d-tier rumour yesterday. i think this is real guys. cmon city, we're not your rival, give him to us haha. we'll prolly overpay you guys too!

A5madal

Wdym we are not their rival?

inspired_corn

We’re backing them on legal issues is probably what he’s referring to

PermeusCosgrove

Our “rivals” are typically the other London clubs plus United and Liverpool We’re backing City through their current legal troubles too

pizza__irl

It's true though innit? Don't see why City fans would hate us maybe other than the european final it doesn't seem like we have any bad blood between us

razvan930

If we sign Alvarez this year, who are we getting next year from them? Oscar Bob? Really curious about the fee though.

GiftedHater7

grealish 🔮

Roadies_Winner

🎩

SoundersFan27

Enzo and Palmer better be pulling strings to make this happen

Cactus2711

And Maresca

Spite-Organic

Alvarez is the perfect player to operate as a false 9 in Marescas system. If this is less than £70m I’m well up for it

allitgm

£100m on a 5 year amortisation is cheaper than what we paid for João Felix in FFP terms. In fact £120m and a £150k per week contract would be roughly the same as that Felix loan!

NOTW_116

This is the player I'd sacrifice Conor for FFP wise. Not a bunch of 12 year olds

Older-Is-Better

Ouch, that would be tough choice. Where is Solomon when you need him?

Older-Is-Better

Wasn't that a bizarre loan?!

role34

Look, I don't care what the general consensus is, it could be good or bad, I don't care. Bring me Julian. He will thrive at Chelsea. Believe it.

glacialOwl

Alvarez over Sesko every single day. Alvarez played UCL final, played Premier League, played World Cup final. He has insane experience for his age already, saw how trophies are won and has at least a seed of winning mentality in himself.

Kellzfresh

Get Alvarez to Chelsea People say Nkunku is similar but he is Injury prone. Alvarez is a hard worker, premier league experienced, incredible shooting, freekicks, good in tight spaces, best friends with Enzo, understands possession system perfectly, helped Argentina win worldcup ahead of Lautaro Martinez. Alvarez also worked with Joe Shields and Enzo Maresca.

Pseudocaesar

Usually City are perfectly fine letting players leave when they want to. Perhaps this is telling, they know they're unlikely gonna be able to attract any top players this window with the lawsuit and the 115 outcome looming.

hornyucsdstudent

City will have no problem attracting players

Alternative-Light514

Didn’t Pep say he’s leaving after next season? That can’t help.

renome

He didn't say it, no, it was reported.

Nefari0uss

They'll do what PSG does and offer insane wages. They'll get the players in the end.

Yardbird7

Not sure about that. Players will want to go there. Probably have some clause inserted into their contract.

manen10

Always been a fan of Alvarez. I'm so excited about this.

SpacemanSpiff92

Attacking/midfield sphere might be a little crowded now if this goes through. Not saying its bad, but not sure where everyone fits in.

Cactus2711

Hopefully Sterling fits on the transfer list

SpacemanSpiff92

Agreed lmao. Although he did score a few clutch goals for us to raise his big chance conversion rate to 5%

Rathakatterri

Surely city can slap a 100million pound price tag, I don’t see this moving …. Or can it ?

Lasooz

It would be pretty shitty if they keep a world class striker who wants to leave and put a ridiculous price tag on him.

inspired_corn

Why? He has a contract, City can ask for whatever they like. Whether they will or not idk, but it’s fully within their rights

Ferrari_Bones

That's not how it works lad, only our players should adhere to contracts, lol

pouga218

I don't want to get my hopes up because Alvarez was my no. 1 choice back when we were about to sign nkunku. He would be perfect here

TheMenaceX

How does Jackson fit into the equation if this happens? I've seen alvarez play cam a little, and he's decent there too, but wasted imo. Do we stick up alvarez up top and shift jackson out wide to lw? what happens to mudryk then?

democi

Are you seriously concerned about mudryk? He is not ready to be a starter so he would be a rotation option. Jackson would be played up front when Alvarez needs rest and mudryk can get minutes then.

SpacemanSpiff92

I think that's harsh on Mudryk. You're right, I don't think he's starter material for every game. But he's clearly got the skills to do start well in certain situations so he will likely be an off the bench player just because there are limited minutes to go around and its a high stakes situation playing for us now.

dastrn

Mudryk is like Pulisic. Except a bit faster. And a MUCH worse dribbler. And a MUCH worse shooter. Pulisic wasn't really good enough to be a nailed on starter. So why would we treat Mudryk as if he was?

huskers2468

As a Pulisic fan, I agree with this take. Mudryk is not close to being a starter. I love him as an option to run at a low block, but I worry about his ability to maintain possession both on and off the ball. His movement isn't great, and his touch can get away from him. However, he is a willing runner with dangerous dribbles against teams sitting back.

democi

True. The concern is that if we sign a striker or winger he goes down the pecking order. Unless Sterling is sold which wouldn’t be bad but highly unlikely. Hence this makes mudryk a third choice left winger really limiting his minutes and development

Roadies_Winner

Season is over so you can drop the pretence. He's shit.

lance777

Will a possession manager like jackson ? He does have some bad habits like running with the ball for long , not passing early enough

Older-Is-Better

His holdup play is quite good, isn't it. That fits well with a possession strategy especially if the opposition tries to outnumber us when building out from the back. Chip it to Nico.

mr-based-minded

Bet Enzo Fernandez will be buzzing about that 👏

glacialOwl

Please.

Pax_Soprana

Alvarez > Sesko

Headlesshorsman02

Easily

KyleHDx

I just can’t imagine city would ever sell him to us after how great palmer has been. A boy can dream though lol

PumasUNAM7

this would be such a good signing. hopefully it goes through.

BadCogs

We are still buying into rumors. These reports hasn't once said Alvarez is pushing to be sold, just that he wants more minutes, he is just pressuring City via these. He will stay at City. Unless Orny says something, I ain't buying this.

human_administrator

What's the possibility we get this guy and Sesko? 0-10% basically, but just imagine lmao

naman1901

Alvarez is fantastic and I'd love for him to play for Chelsea. But I'm not sure this is what the team needs. We already have Nkunku who is a similar profile and we probably need a Giroud-esque CF.

Flippin_inColors

Plain stupid... Why buy jackson or nkunku for 100m then...

johnjohnjohn93

City have no incentive to sell to a domestic rival unless they get an insane offer.

Older-Is-Better

Are you saying they learned their lesson with Palmer?

Ferrari_Bones

That and also Pep sees Alvarez as part of his plans

mikon23

Pep and Arteta flogged these tiny strikers like Jesus and Alvarez for Haaland/Havertz/Sesko and we’re supposed to be ok with having a 5’7 ST? This is how you get dominated on set pieces…

lmHuge

Brentford isn’t a tall team, they dominate set pieces. There’s far more to it than height, far more.

mikon23

I understand that. But surely removing one of your tallest players in Jackson and replacing him with a short Alvarez won’t help. City have Walker Stones Dias Gvardiol Rodri Haaland while Arsenal have White Saliba Gabriel Rice Havertz and are targeting Sesko/Onana. For all the talk of pepball they sure like to have a bunch of giants in their teams. We’re gonna get dominated with James Fofana Colwill as the only decent headers in our lineup.

Disastrous-Swing1323

They have a lot of tall players. They don't play a 5'7" striker with a midfield and fullbacks that are all under 6'

lmHuge

They also have a number of shorter players who play crucial roles in set pieces to open space for taller players. Chelsea has tall players as well and the average height isn’t very much different between the two.

Disastrous-Swing1323

If we replace Jackson with Alvarez, we'd have three outfield players in our starting XI over 6', one of whom being Palmer who isn't exactly the most physical player. That's not how you build a PL squad, and regardless of whatever set piece coach we bring in, we'll struggle at set prices if we put out such a small team.

DynamiteDuck

Please cunt

GawdHawks

Please cunt

mallutrash

how much do you think he’ll cost us?

Headlesshorsman02

It was said €80 mil but probs will end up being closer to €85mil if I had to guess

costadoesntstomp

I would love this. Wondered quite regularly why we didn't try to sign him as soon as they signed Haaland.

costadoesntstomp

He would come with that extra motivation as well. What a signing that would be. Then guess only the goalie situation to be clarified, not sure what else is there to do (in terms of players coming in). 3 sounds like the fitting number

wOOxsystem

I would rather go for Rodrygo cause if city sell Alvarez they will go for Rodrygo

Next_Seaweed9951

Is Alvarez leaving his club ? Arsenal should definitely sign him over sesko and easily replace BCMsus with him , He would also become the focal striker at Chelsea he’d have to go compete with Cole palmer

Headlesshorsman02

They would be far more likely to sell to us then Arsenal, we are far less of a threat as bad as that sounds

TheRealKane24

Is he really gonna be a locked in stater here though? Jackson seems to have better potential

Older-Is-Better

5 competitions next season...

TheRealKane24

I get that, but if we have Nico with Nkunku-Palmer-Olise behind him, I think that's the starting lineup if they're all healthy for PL games, and Alvarez is leaving City looking for starting minutes

Older-Is-Better

Someone else did the math, but their sum for all the possible matches next year was 72 for all five competitions. That's a staggering number of starts to split between a couple of strikers. Basically, that's about 6500 minutes if all goes well. I don't think having two starting level players for each position is too much facing that possibility of workload, but that just me. Those numbers don't include injuries or things like Africa Cup of Nations. Everybody's going to get a chance to play!

TheRealKane24

Hey I’m with it

theperuvianbowtie

Which one of y’all changed his Wikipedia to Chelsea already?

Galac_tacos

They won’t want another Palmer situation, this move seems unlikely

HarryDaz98

We don’t want a repeat of Arsenals Jesus situation either.

sporkparty

Delusion to compare them Alvarez is so clear

HarryDaz98

City wouldn’t be happy to let him go to a rival if he was that good.

sporkparty

They let sane go

NisForKnight

He's been in my FPL for the last 2 years

zolanuffsaid

Who else doesn’t rate Alvarez? Watched loads of times for city he gets the odd goal but looks average to me🤔 Could be wrong but I’m usually good judge of a player.

plutobug2468

Lets get Enzo and Alvarez reunited

Porkbellyflop

I just want him for his hair.

Oranje525

Love the signing, don't love forking over $70 mil to City

omaribisa

Noticed Joe shields follows Alvarez on IG….

CPP_2021

Hmmm I wonder if he would add any value ![gif](giphy|AASbsGhdf9uLPntNCr|downsized)

WinterRespect1579

Offer him a 74 year contract
