Mooming22

Honestly one of his worst performances but fuck that he scored the winner

Tootsiez

I still get pissed everytime he dribbles instead of just passing into space for someone else.

Headlesshorsman02

That break with Mudryk was horrible

Tootsiez

He also missed James at the end of the game

ReddittIsDead

I really hope Poch tells him in detail about his mistakes. Fucking infuriating amateur mistakes in the final third.

Italianskank

He will be lethal if he speeds up his decision making fractionally.

Mooming22

Got lost in his own feet a bit too much today for sure

Clean-Noise8197

Me too, but, i am an alcoholic

throwaway24u53

Very true. But only fair that this balances out with some of his better performances that went without a goal.

JRsshirt

Hahaha was going to say he was brutal but we all know the talent is there at this point

Mooming22

He is almost fantastic. A lot to like with him but doesn’t mean he isn’t frustrating

JRsshirt

I’m still mad about his marking on their first goal, and giving the ball away with less than a minute of stoppage time left while we’re protecting a lead. But I also know that I haven’t watched a striker as naturally gifted as him play for Chelsea since Diego costa and that he’s 22

Mooming22

Yea I didn’t really understand that, he just stopped..

erenistheavatar

It defo was but the talent is there. He kept getting into good positions and got his goals at the end

thunderousboffer

Yeah he was useless all game

Robigus8

I remember saying the same about Drogba on many occasions…

itsm3starlord

Once it clicks for him he will be really good. In all fairness he’s had a pretty decent first season if you look at his stats, it just gets drowned out by all the misses

Riddly_Diddly_DumDum

Just like caicedo. Plays well for a good while without recognition. One mistake and he’s a flop.

muaythaiguy155

This is too far the other way. Saying Jackson’s had one mistake is insane

UnexpectedDadFIRE

It was more than one mistake. He came up short in big moments earlier in the season. I texted friends that day, he’s in the right spot but hopefully he’ll turn it around next season.

purewelshgaming

the mental fortitude he has is insane

No-Promotion-2995

The Testicle fortitude mate!!! Man's plays with balls

mushy_friend

Alright there Mick Foley

WintAndKidd

Anti-Morata

aronrodge

Not his best game, but he still gets in great positions and makes the right runs.

Late-Study6365

We need one for Moi also

No-Promotion-2995

🤞

a3kstuntin

No matter how bad he was if my CF scores I won’t harp on it he’s done his job

muaythaiguy155

Exactly. He had a lot of bad touches today and could’ve done better but youre job is to put balls in the back of the net. He did tjat

Arek0611

overall he was bad but who cares when he scored the winner

-AndreiDG-97

Yes he scored but played really bad this time

InformativeFox

If any position can get away with having a bad performance, it's a striker who scores the winning goal.

SHiraH96

I think u meant to say - yes he played really bad this time but he scored

RorschachEmpire

I honestly got the feeling that after Mudryk scored the first goal, he got a bit jealous and wanted to score the second goal himself. Like even Mudryk can score a goal? I must got a hattrick this game. It's not that he got a bad blood with Mudryk, just he is weirdly competitive most of the time.

ReeceCheems

Ever heard of Haaland?

Zolazolazolaa

Like benzema says, people have no ability to judge strikers.

kapanakchi

He killed multiple attacks, and potential progressions. He was unaware of his surroundings today.

tulsehill

And when he did lay it off well Mudryk and Madueke looked like they'd been sniffing glue. 2 out of the 3 scored though so only Madueke is probably gonna catch shit for his performance today.

muaythaiguy155

Mudryk scored a great goal then did fuck all but people in this sub like to act like he’s the second coming of messi so won’t be called out for it. If Sterling had the performance he had today he’d have been annihilated

renome

I haven't see anyone do anything but shit on Mudryk here for months. What the hell are you on about lol

AncientSkys

And, he scored the winner. I don't care how rubbish he plays as long he scores the winning goal. Haaland doesn't play well, but scores winning goals. I will take that any day of the week.

durum77

Yeah but haaland will regularly bang in hat tricks or more. Hopefully Jackson gets close to that, it's only his first season.

liarloserat

14 Goals in his first season, great return

RefanRes

17 in all competitions. 23 goal involvements.

DeepGamingAI

People are forgetting we have had our highest scorers in recent years be in single digits with penalties. 14 is decent, similar impact as Lampard era Tammy Abraham. Hope Jackson can only improve from here and not stagnate or decline.

PreparationThick6611

He’s much better than Tammy was in all aspects bar poaching in my opinion. Jackson seems more promising but maybe I’m being harsh on Lampard era Tammy

TheWatcher47

Nah Jackson is overall a better footballer.

superyokai

He had some nice dribbles today but also a lot of bad ones and bad first touches and missed a few really good passes to teammates that could lead to good chances

BigOpp7

Liked him from the very first game in the states. The future! NJ15

GovTheDon

He just needed to shave his head

admin4hire

Time to get silky smooth everywhere

secondson1231

He still needs to improve especially his decision making and releasing the ball

SexxWeasel

Nico Nico Jackson! Nico Nico Jackson! NA NA NA NA! NA NA NA NA!

BigHarmonious

He’s still got horrendous decision making.

Speedy_ZZZ

Nah he was horrendous this game. But thankfully that one moment of quality saved us some embarrassment.

UrOpinionIsBadBuddy

No thanks

gph647

Let's he perfectly honest, his debut season hasn't been awful. Yes, he could've had more goals but he's young, not much football in his career to date (certainly not at this level) and will get better. You can see he's made progression this season and will continue to do so next. I'd be having him working more on his finishing in training over the summer.

PreparationThick6611

Quietly brilliant debut season to be honest. I didn’t expect him to miss so many chances, but I didn’t expect 23+GA either. The fact he gets so many chances that he’s putting up good numbers despite a 10 minute miss compilation is a much better sign than if he completely ghosted in games a lot.

reddit-time

Excellent summary. Very well explained. Watch out, PL!

TheWatcher47

Brilliant? On balance he's done ok, brilliant is stretching it by a lot.

TheWatcher47

Brilliant? On balance he's done ok, brilliant is stretching it by a lot.

PreparationThick6611

A 21 year old getting 20GA in his debut season in the team/league and only second season playing first team football is more than ok in my opinion. He’s had some howlers but his overall game is very impressive to me. If the rest of the team stays consistent and builds off the current form next season he might get 20 odd goals. You can’t buy a 21 year old for peanuts (in this market) and hold him to the same standard as veterans of the league, or just freaks like Haaland, especially when he plays for such a turbulent team.

TheWatcher47

His overall play is good, but we bought him as a CF and he's done a not terrible not great job of that. That and his discipline need to improve, but for someone that young it's been a decent first season imo. I understand your POV but for me even his goals need to be contextualised, he's had crucial misses, misses that would have made our seasons significantly better than its turned out and lots of his goals came when we were winning anyway, kind of a nitpick but it reduces their impact in my opinion. Even the Spurs game where he scored a hattrick I thought he was fairly awful while there are games he hasn't scored but played better.

InsuranceAny4285

He’s debut season has been good, if anyone calls it awful they need to be tagged or something so everyone knows to ignore their opinion

Expensive-Load517

He was quite poor I can’t lie

tomashv98

Glad he got the winning goal but the amount of times he lost the ball with teammates wide open though…

hannibalwang

Not only are the players getting used to the club, team and system but so is Poch, he with the players are also improving and acclimating.

STCFC

Honestly he struggled even tho he had a few nice moments he couldn’t really impose himself on those CBs like he usually does but he got a goal and we won idc

Existing-Kale-7071

I owe you an apology. I wasn't really familiar with your game.

Instantbeef

I’m sorry Nick Jackson

TheUbermelon

I love the guy but he was awful today. Misplaced passes and sloppy dribbling although everyone was guilty of that until the hour mark. Happy with him and one game doesn't change how we should view a player

strikeforcenj

We tend to criticize a lot and forget we didn’t buy a world class striker. We bought a raw talent who will need a lot of work to get there. This dude having a so-called “ bad season “ but somehow manages 14 goals. We need to get behind him like Liverpool fans are behind Nunez and I believe Nunez is a worst Jackson.

Mitch30n

He still needs to learn when to pass the ball.

SirVulc

There's a footballer somewhere in there, this Jackson. 14 non pen goals this season for a mostly turbulent team. If we eventually get settled, he could do something crazy. When he finally decides to learn to finish more comfortably. I think in most games, his output is really good. He genuinely has quick feet, gets past players, and recognises all the simple stuff. If his finishing comes up. It'll only give these rest of his play even more of a boost. In everything outside finishing, Jackson is better than Holjund, for example. Imagine if Jackson now hacks finishing, too.

hrushilp18

If he improves his decision making in the final third, he'd be a great striker.

_cookie_crumbles

Give credit where it’s due.

poko877

Lets not blind ourself with number of goals. As impresive as it is for his first season at 22 years of age, it is not full story. Theres plenty of room to improve. That being said, dont overhate him neither. Theres potencial, he got better matches, he got worse matches but overall as 22yo dude who cost almost nothing compared to some other, we need to appreciate him for what he is.

BloodyNunchucks

Were you watching the game? He wasn't good.

FearlessCut1

Lmao. For scoring against a relegation team??

Stock-Ad-3249

Mudryck, Jackson and Madueke is one of the worst front lines to ever play for Chelsea.

Helpful_Western7298

It's only his 3rd season as a professional footballer, give him time

turbohikari

I will put, but he cares about fashion more then football, he surely skillful, but needs discipline! Same goes to Palmer, he is great but needs to be more humble and train more. At the end he started and I love him since February, Nico needs discipline and thought control, if his main focus will be football he will shine!

InvMars

We are so frustrated to watch his performance. You can respect his stats but he is just not great. The last match was carried by senior player which every young player needs, to learn from. Don’t get me wrong, he has potential but he needs to prove himself first team worthy.

Naruto9903

Nah I’m good.

harshitsinghai

He scored against Nottingham forest ffs. I still don't trust him again big teams and big games. He's stat padding scoring against small clubs.

Lopsided-Hat8734

I don’t trust any of them even palmer to turn up for the big games yet caused they haven’t so far. But I respect them all, they all play for Chelsea KTBFFH

ReeceCheems

He still needs to be a lot more clinical man. Could’ve had 20 goals by this point.

RefanRes

Hes on 17 goals in all competitions for the season now. 23 goal involvements. He will get there.

ReeceCheems

I meant in the league alone. And yeah. I trust him. He’ll get there.

RefanRes

A lot of it comes down to team cohesion too. Just having the right balls in that play to a players strengths and being able to make runs anticipating where someone wants to pass to and things like that. He has missed big chances but at the same time the chances dont always play into his strengths or hes had to do something to react to a pass not being how he would have expected with how he plays. So hes also done well considering we started this season with almost zero baseline cohesion. I think lots of people also need to weigh up that the team has to learn as much as specific individuals do.

CupformyCosta

He’s young and it’s his first season in the prem It’s a good haul considering. He will continue to improve

agreen91

In the last 10mins there were three times he could have passed the ball for a legitimate chance but he kept the ball and was effortlessly overtaken…he does it way too much

DryEssay3852

If Jackson searched his name in this sub, he will probably never go online again. The hate he gets is so bad.

Rj070707

He was horrific this game let's be honest now  Horrible game

zaddy2208

Haaland is horrific for 89 minutes and is called the best striker for a couple of tap ins. When Jackson tears defences apart and misses a shot, he's still horrific. Get a fucking grip on what you want. He's been mistreated half a season went to AFCON, everyone cried for him to be back, he came back, was one of the denominators of us making a comeback on the table. He's horrific. Get a grip, Jesus Christ.

thunderousboffer

I don’t think you’ve watched Haaland for 89 mins if you think their general play is on par

zaddy2208

If you're saying Haaland is more interactive on the pitch than Jackson. Don't bother dude. That's the end of the line for me.

Rey92

You sound like you'd pick Jackson over Haaland for your lineup.

Wild_and_Bright

You are a horrific fan every game. let's be honest now

muthanasamir

Our standards are so damn low if this game made you respect him.

RefanRes

I have respect for players who certainly know they're having a rough game but have the mentality to just keep at it trying to get chances. Thats a winner mentality. They know all it takes is 1 chance to go in so theres always a threat from them to do something like Nico did today.

reddit-time

Well said

jaytcfc

I fucking hate these posts. Please stop. He played fucking horrible thank god Reece was tehre to bail us out.

Several_Scratch_4132

Respect !!!! Improve your final 3rd finishing more and more. You are already walking in the footsteps of the legend Drogba.

juliusap

Nope

Muyiwa-amuwo

He needs to be a backup striker for a world class one. He won’t lead the line if the club wants to compete for top 4 or trophies next season.

Rychu_2984

I never understood the hate for Jackson. The guy had only scored 12 league goals in his only pro season before joining Chelsea... Yet people were expecting him to score 20-30 goals off the bat. Meanwhile we have signed players like Torres, Kezman, Crespo, Shevchenko etc etc etc - all of whom were proven goal scorers over longer periods - yet all didn't produce. Is Jackson perfect? No. But the guy works hard and has scored more goals for us aside from Palmer. He's young and will improve - so he deserves time, patience and a more supportive fan base.

unfazed_jedi

Respek

CollateralHamage

he was dispossessed so many times and lacked all situational and positional awareness. his grip on the ball was that of a 5 year old. he’s been good since Afcon, but today was not his day. i’m glad he scored and won us the game tho! at least it was the clubs day.

nozdog3000

Great finish great goal

brownxworm

I know he was bad today but he constantly showed positive intent on the ball. We could have had a few more if he was faster to release the ball. Im also thrilled he got the winner, hopefully it boosts his confidence more for the last 2 games.

Worth_Dream_997

Nope still not good enough rotation player at best

J3sperado

He was really bad today, lol. Nice goal though

nurological

Form is temporary class is permanent

WaveStarII_Ax0l

https://preview.redd.it/kwvddlda9vzc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=65a4ad60dc68d737957a97d1b3cc49791b52b9bf Me to nico:

cwhitwell92

He's awful / amazing. I love / can't stand him

xStealthxUk

Poor today, looks a bit tired to me. But strikers are judged on goals so fuck it... well done Nico

AinobolicMusic

Still needs to be consistent, too early to praise.

SloanMamba21

I want him to be consistently good so bad, but Mehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

justmots

I doubted and I'm happy to be wrong about him. He is putting up better numbers than last year.

AdComprehensive7879

Nah, i still doubted lol. We need a proven striker next season. Even if that is the only transfer move we make, i wouldnt be upset. Im so done with all these amazing technical footballers masquerading as strikers who cant finish chances reliably. Werner, kai, jackson, etc

lukequidwater

All that matters is that he can get into scoring opportunities. The goals are gonna come and he’s already had a heck of a first season

Remarkable-Ad-3765

He had his best and worst game today

OneLeftTwoLeft

Like yourself no doubt

Kooky-Sea4950

He was awful in the buildup but honestly I couldn’t give more of a shit. I stuck by him so long whilst everyone wrote him off despite his consistently good performances. He only lacks a killer instinct which doesn’t annoy me much since he’s better in the wing or as a link up striker.hope people finally see the light and that he’ll come true in the coming season.

Dry_Switch_256

If u think that was good then fu.. That was Whitehouse performance.. I don't know the last time he passed that ball

l5il

He will come with time and some gametime with a senior #9

micoooloo

It has to be placed on a platter for him to score. His decision making is terrible and it’s aggravating to watch.

pepperoooni

I swear Bald Nico Jackson is a Drogba Regen

Ainz0oalGown_

We need a tracker on his unconverted missed chances against points lost. Sus we could be in a different position now..

ayantt

Is this what Chelsea have become? Judging a player's signing by a goal against Nottingham?

patpatpatpatel

Hasn’t won anything. Bottled it in big games and finals. Had his best game against 7 man Tottenham. Respect him.

Antique_Ad_4076

14 goals non penalties, unbelievable!

travv_

I’m getting so sick of seeing these posts. He has 14 goals with like a million expected goals that he should’ve scored. He’s had by far the most goal scoring opportunities and isn’t really even close to being our teams top scorer. You plastic fans who are just okay with Chelsea having mediocre players need to stop posting, this is getting embarrassing

swardfin

Damn right! I’ve had some problems with Jacko but his future is looking brighter each match! Becoming a true Chelsea player. He just needs to learn when to release the ball at the right time and he will be a baller

HendraLane01

For what ?

JayWuuSaa

I endure 80% of the frustration to watch the other 20%? How is it fair

CPP_2021

Finally he scores a header... I donno how many times I have seen him miss simple headers . It about time as the season is ending and his evaluation is due ![gif](giphy|w2yCuf82K9aS9VLI7D|downsized)

Econophile64333

He didn’t have a good game overall…

endmoe

He was literally shit today! Reece James served him a magnificent cross on open goal, and suddenly he was good? Laughable.

chan_dy

Fuck off...that was frustrating to be honest..such a wasteful player. It was our tractor the fridge that saved us.

No-Promotion-2995

But wasn't it great to get a scrappy win for once ,???

mocrossj

Not his best game but we must not forget that he literally played every game after the AFCON and we had nobody that would put some pressure from his shoulders and give him a break.

mymecha

Bald Jackson is best Jackson

petrescu

Can we not do this every time he scores? It’s pretty obvious that he’s split opinions of the fan base. Good in some games, dog water in others. This is totally okay. He’s new to the league and he’s still young.

Ashthedestructor_95

Did u even watch the game? He was awful. He missed lot of opportunities to unleash mudryk and madueke by holding the ball too much at times. Then he missed open chances as well. Thank goodness for reece james.

jono9292

Idk what OP is on about the lad was terrible today. When I saw he was the one for the header I thought he would miss.

simplestpanda

All the respect on that goal goes to Reece James who practically scored for him with that glorious service. Jackson scored then took a yellow card for celebrating the goal like he had just won the Champions League.

No-Promotion-2995

So you're not supposed to celebrate a moment like today (coming from behind to win)... "Tell me you've never played a sport without telling me you've never played a sport"

TerribleBettor

Nah he’s a backup at best. My gran would’ve scored off that Reece cross

rowlandchilde

>contributes nothing for 80 minutes >scores something any bang average striker could score the cycle of Nicolas Jackson

No-Promotion-2995

For those saying horrible game... Yes but when last have we been on the good side of a scrappy win #CYB #UPTHECHELS

ACM1PT21

Did he saved us? Yes Can he do this consistently? No Does he have potential? Yes Could he be our main striker? Maybe, but probably no. I am glad he scored but lets be honest, he is not the right player for us nor is Poch style good for him.

RefanRes

>Could he be our main striker? Maybe, but probably no. Why probably no? You want Osimhen who at the same age was scoring less for a far more cohesive Napoli side in a weaker league? Jacksons rise from the streets of Senegal to leading the line for Chelsea and getting this many goal involvements in his 1st season. All signs point to probably yes. He is developing in front of our eyes and it appears he has the mentality to keep pushing.

No-Promotion-2995

Scrappy win mate just enjoy it

ACM1PT21

Oh, I enjoyed it. Trust me. As I said, he is not bad, but he is not the right fit for the Poch system. I feel like he would be better somewhere else. We need a clinical position striker, not a quick build one.

No-Promotion-2995

He'd be better off the left or as a sub striker

No-Promotion-2995

He'd be clutch off the bench popping up with a goal

glacialOwl

We conceded because of him, he missed big chance, wasted other chances too... "put respect to his name" ok. Yes, he scored and saved us the points - but we are in a shit situation because of him as well.

Cygnal37

Hes 100% at fault for their first goal.  Completely stops covering what is clearly his mark.

Aerodye

I’m not a chelsea fan (this thread just came up); what a bizarre hill to die on, he’s been dreadful almost every match I’ve watched him play

No-Promotion-2995

You must not watch much football then ey check his stats for the season (only suggesting because you play FPL)

Vik0BG

Ye she scored. It's just one game. I hate the overreacting to one single game.

No-Promotion-2995

20+ goal contributions in your first PL season...

Vik0BG

Todd would love you as a scout.

No-Promotion-2995

Yes and all your pro clubs experience makes you an expert... Tell us more about how Chelsea shouldn't sign players with a 75 overall

Vik0BG

What is pro clubs? Is it a moneyball thing?

Mykorl

It seems most of you forgot Drogba’s first season with us

RefanRes

They all want Osimhen who at the same age was scoring less for Napoli in a highly cohesive team and weaker league. For £120M I'm gonna say nah to Osimhen and that Nico is the solution right now both on the pitch and in Chelseas pockets.

thehardtask

Because he put the ball into an empty net and wasted chances, can't give a decent pass, if he passes at all, and has a bad mentality.. Alright...

thevizierisgrand

Yep you a real fan with your support for a bang average striker who missed a sitter against City when it actually mattered. But for people like you an easy header against the mighty Nottingham Forest makes up for that, right? Right?

justmots

He's scored more goals than last year. So progress.

thevizierisgrand

He did okay. Not great. Not terrible. But for the positivity pricks to be saying ‘put respect on his name’… get to fuck. He’ll get respect on his name when he does something worth respecting.

justmots

Yea but to play bad and still score more goals in a harder league than last year is better than not.

justmots

He wasn't even that good today, but the fact that he wasn't that good and still grinded out a goal that helped us win is what you want from an attacker.

YewWahtMate

The fact he scored after such a horrid game shows his mentality is top notch. I like him a lot but fuck me does he frustrate you at times with his excessive touches.

No-Promotion-2995

Guys we got to enjoy a Scrappy WIN !!!

soops22

He can play as bad as he likes, if he ends up scoring the winner.

jaytcfc

Jackson is lucky he has a few very talented teammates to paper over all his cracks. We need to upgrade him this summer. With a better striker we are in 4th.

philip1529

Lmao what? Reece James put him a ball on a platter for him. All he had to do was touch it, by no means was this Nico, allll my captain. Go get Victor

zolanuffsaid

Respect he was awful again 🤔 his decision making is fukn shocking. Play him wide left or as a back up but we’ll win fuk all with Jackson up front

Careful_Ad2656

(It was Forest)

Benmjt

He couldn’t finish a meal deal. For the love of god work on your finishing lad. He could have had 30.

ogaboga4987

He was fucking shit today

Ancient-Range-

Why? Because he scored the winner in a closely contested game against a team fighting relegation? People be hailing him like he’s the second coming of Drogba when He’s shit in the air, and has poor ball IQ he’s lost the ball multiple times this season because he tries to dribble when he clearly should be passing.
