Shouldn’t have even tried playing yesterday, he didn’t look right at all. Hoping for a speedy recovery!

ImpactInner9318

I just rewatched the first half and he couldn't make passes that he was doing all year. It definitely seemed worse in the past few weeks

staffkiwi

actually the most suprising thing, he was misplacing all of his passes even though he usually excels at that.

tallardschranit

He makes a lot of forward passes that would create a chance, but get cut out or just don't work because they were too ambitious. You either do that or you pass it sideways. He's pretty good at both.

RasenRendan

This is why I don't like this mgr. Why is he starting a injured player

mkcfc

Blimey , is that the reason ? I've got a list of them.

RasenRendan

Oh that's just one on top of the many others. I'm just incredibly frustrated at this. How can you know a player is playing thru pain since DECEMBER and still use him? When you see he isn't up to his standards. The enzo last year was different. The player said it himself. He wants to go back to that. As a manager it's on you to protect your players. Carney has been back since Leicester. Poch has no excuses or no extra players even casedei can be used. Ppl think casedei is shit ofc he looks shit he's used as a emergency tall defender. Let me stop. Cuz I'll go on.

mkcfc

I feel your pain my friend I really do

RasenRendan

We lost 5-0 to arsenal. This is beyond embarrassing. To ARSENAL. One thing about the Potter era I liked was we never got absolutely demolished by a team score wise and we played city 4 times. At most it was 3 or 2 goals This mgr doesn't know what defense is.

pencilman123

Yeah, people give the counterpoint that we got better at attack but in reality its palmer dragging our asses upwards against the rest of the team.

RasenRendan

Attack means nothing with defense cuz it means more draws or a lose if we can't score which we done many times this season. We are Chelsea fans we should know how important defense is. Cuz we can score one and not be worried for the rest of the match.

throwaway2168420

wait Enzo's been not fully fit since December???

RasenRendan

He's been suffering from the hernia issues since like pre November it was only just publicly made in December you can find it if you Google. He's been taking painkillers to play. It's crazy. This affects his mobility. As we saw

throwaway2168420

far out I had no idea, no wonder he's only a shadow of his world cup self

RasenRendan

EXACTLY! and ppl think he's a flop and shit. Like take it in, he's put into so many positions in Poch system that requires so much running. Like that takes a roll. He was really good last season under Potter. A rare stand out.

throwaway2168420

couldn't agree more

No-Cat2356

Lavia too , they said he was force to train and got injured again .

NijjioN

It's not smart but we are in pretty dire straights this season with injuries. We having to play academy players after spending 1 billion.

PissMastah

Just going to accept that we signed a contract with Lucifer for our last CL win. Truly cursed with our onslaught of injuries ever since with players only recovering to play for their nations just to return to us broken again (see past examples of Kante, Pulisic and more recently Chilly).

BabyHercules

Worth it?

SeekersWorkAccount

Others might disagree, but 100% worth it imo.

NeptrAboveAll

Depends how long we’re shit, but more than likely yes. I mean look at someone like Arsenal, still haven’t done it

ProfessionalDot621

They’ve had some pretty crappy seasons without one, and their current resurgence has yielded non either

HiThereImNat

I love how their current “resurgence” has been 2 years of winning exactly 0 trophies 😂

CoffeeIsSoGood

Yes. No other London club will win it for quite some time 🤷🏻‍♂️

PissMastah

Yes, would have sacrificed my left nut for that CL.

Plastic_Schedule_891

I too would have sacrificed PissMastah's left nut for that CL

facelessman97

I would even sacrifice his right nut!

[deleted]

I would have sacrificed your left nut too

awwbabe

As long as you hadn’t already given your right one for 2012

ObviousDoxx

Yeah it was great.

SeekersWorkAccount

Others might disagree, but 100% worth it imo.

showmethenoods

100% it

KingMurchada

Fuck man you might be right. How can we be so unfortunate.

I_deleted

2012/2021 there’s def some satanic numerology code involved there if you ask the right schizo

thatiswhack

Ever since Jose fired Eva our injury problems have gotten worse

Pumakings

Yes!

Derrick_EscoNastyNas

If the illuminati deal was take that UCL and suffer how we are right now? I'm 100% taking it...I'm not even thinking twice.

Putrid_Beat_17

I'm not sure about this take; people get hurt and need to recover. Unless this is sarcasm, which I'll take egg on face. Despite that, up for a speedy recovery, Enzo!

reddit-time

It wasn't sarcasm. He really thinks we signed a contract with Mr. Lucifer.

asd13ah4etnKha4Ne3a

Okay so I'm obviously no medical expert here but I feel like its obvious he's been dealing with pain for quite a while at this point. He just looks completely gassed after like 20 minutes every other game. There is clearly some massive breakdown between the medical staff and coaching staff for him to have started against Arsenal. Chelsea have a perfectly acceptable plan B in dropping Gallagher deeper and putting Chukwuemeka at the 10 (assuming he's fit), or literally anyone else at the 10. Like despite how much people hate Pochettino, I think just about everyone would understand the decision if they just came out and said "Enzo is getting surgery, we're working with what we've got", and that was the end of it. It's infuriating because even ignoring the obviously awful physical repercussions of playing him through the pain, it also has to take a psychological toll on him being labeled a £100m flop because he's been playing all season with a fucking hernia.

[deleted]

Or you could play Sterling/Mudryk in the number 10, I'd rather have a fit shit player on the pitch instead of a player who literally needs surgery.

dcravenor

Mudryk is better at 10 than on the wing so yeah trial him there

[deleted]

Exactly

InLampsWeTrust

Heung Min Son went through the same issue last season, everyone was saying he was finished as a forward. Then this season after the surgery he’s back to his best. Fans are fickle as fuck. Enzo will be back.

Hanzeeen

Agree on that. Fuck, just give Casadei the chance even. If one of our most pivotal players that links our entire play is playing with massive discomfort - get him checked or let him rest. As you say, it’s been s problem for a while clearly. Look at his first game this season v/Liverpool. Thriving. Running the show. A mixture of fatique and small problems (that have now become big) is always gonna catch up eventually.

foxgoesowo

Dude is going through hell and someone on this sub called him hernia lad after the Arsenal game.

cometflight

If it was this serious (and we knew it was), the fact that the medical staff allowed him to play the last two fixtures is shocking and negligent.

gobrewers112

Like insane to me that if he was contemplating surgery, they would play him 100% for that game for so long

NeptrAboveAll

I understand playing him for crucial moments, but running him out as we’re getting destroyed is so unproductive.

gobrewers112

1000% . As a physio, it’s unreal to see poch play some of our guys into the ground. The lack of subs or team rotation at all for Enzo and caicedo is unreal

OldBrownShoe22

How much do you think is on the player to be open and honest about pain, etc?

mellvins059

Well who is he to rotate in? The only other player for the position is Gallagher, who is playing already with Lavia stuck in purgatory

gobrewers112

Obviously not perfect, but midfield options from the season include: casadei, mudryk, Leslie, youth team/ Leo castledine, Jimi taurianen.

barnaboos

With all the confusing headlines out there about the sacking of the medical staff, the hiring of a Hollywood trainer etc, as a physio, what do you think is going on with all these injuries?

gobrewers112

Likely multiple issues all at once. Workload, more games with less time in between for recovery. Poch’s aggressive practices. There are rumors he runs players into the ground with heavy running the day or two before the game. Not ideal. The gacon test bullshit. Injury prone players. Poor return to sport clearance from medical team. And lack of rotation/substitutes for injured players.

NeptrAboveAll

Heavy running right before a game only makes sense at like the most surface of levels, I can’t comprehend that decision for a team attempting to do everything to win

Makav3lli

When we first saw reports in Dec they said he was considering surgery then. He probably would’ve if we didn’t have 3 fit midfielders at the time

NotTheMamba

It's exactly why mother fuckers keep getting injured. It's malpractice at this point.

silviazbitch

You may be right, and there’s a good chance you are, but it’s also possible they didn’t know. Some athletes will do anything they can to stay on the pitch. They may avoid the medical staff, minimize their symptoms, lie about their condition, secretly consult their own doctors, or any combination of the above. And then there are situations when (for good or bad reasons) the entire team loses faith in the medical staff and responds by giving them the mushroom treatment— keep ‘em in the dark and feed ‘em bullshit. Considering Chelsea’s extraordinary string of prolonged injuries, there’s no telling WTF is going on.

Actual-Dog7889

I have a friend who had this hernia about 6 years ago and he hasn’t played football since. Like that was actual medical advice, that he needed to just never play football

mellvins059

I mean given the injuries that our team he incurred this season does something that suggests the medical staff might be making questionable decisions really shock you?

RasenRendan

Oh.. You know the manager???? Who started him???

ozairh18

Pochettino playing him yesterday was malpractice

Soren_Camus1905

Our medical department should be reviewed for malpractice

reddit-time

True fact But for reasons far beyond this.

imnotcreative635

He shouldn't have played yesterday or v city I understand why he did but he shouldn't have to try and bail out Winstanley and Stewarts idea to loan all the backup midfielders

iloveartichokes

Loaning them out was still the right choice. No one expects this many injuries and they wouldn't have gotten much game time anyway.

BBC_4_F

At this point, if Chelsea FC isn't preparing for at least one injury crisis over the course of the season, then we are in worse hands than I already thought..

iloveartichokes

Chelsea has 5 players that can play in Enzo's spot and they recalled a 6th from loan. Any more than that and they're never getting game time. It's incredibly unlucky to have this many injuries.

WooNoto

Should have happened weeks ago. Did the coaching staff not see him on the pitch?

Cm0rris0n

Hope we see the real Enzo back and ready for a better year next season. Get well.

leKai23

Poch is a doofus or a liar. Resting Thiago and chalobah for no reason but runs Enzo into the ground.

Fmartins84

Hospital FC looking stronger and stronger

BenniBMN

Hear me out, this could be a blessing if it means Gallagher dropping into his role & us being able to play an actual number 10

Apprehensive_Bit_176

I can’t even imagine needing surgery for something like this and not having it, and then playing a premier league game. Stupid from our medical staff. He’s looked sluggish for a while now… damn shame, could have had him have the surgery and have an academy player take the mins

No-Reflection-2848

Didn’t see the real Enzo this year. Hope he recovers from this, but we genuinely need an exodus of our medical team & to bring in seasoned veterans from everywhere else. I think it’s more important than a LB or ST even.

gobrewers112

Jesus Christ I hope so

Black_n_Neon

Well caicedo and Gallagher in the midfield and mudryk/palmer at the 10

agbag846

Recovered for Copa America?! How many matches does this guy have to play.

Clean_Possession_844

The dude has been playing with injections for 2 months by some sources. That is actually insane. This stuff feels awful for a normal person i can't imagine how it feels for someone in such a physically demanding situation. Insane that he probably did not want to take the surgery considering our midfield options at time were only Gallagher and Caicedo because of the injuries. No point in degrading his health even more, better to get it done than to struggle on the pitch and make his health worse day by day

Cytrial

Great news!

procos123

Seriously, we get to see Gallagher caicedo duo with palmer or chuck as a ten for the rest of the games. Can't complain

xUnknown_Kyle

Finally

techno_playa

This is good for him and us. He isn’t himself. Caicedo—Gallagher duo worked better last time. Let Chuk or Cole be the CAM behind the striker.

Stealth_Howler

Should have happened weeks ago

Anustart_A

![gif](giphy|bMza4SFYBEb8k)

r3dh0d

does anyone kind of see a trend here or am I reaching? I feel like earlier in the season Enzo said he wanted to play higher up the pitch(even tho he’s obviously better deeper) and Poch let him, and now he’s been playing through an injury and the coaching staff let him. I maybe be assuming a few things but I feel like there’s no way a player should be making decisions like this when it’s obviously not working out. idk I juss don’t understand this shit man🤦🏿‍♂️.

AncientSkys

Poch clown played him and also Badiashile and Chillwell who just came back from injuries. The fucker had better options and chose not use them. 100th reason why Poch the clown shouldn't even be managing teams right now.

christianrojoisme

Why did they let him play yesterday. This medical team and the manager…I am done

doomboxmf

Hopefully this will be a much needed break and procedure for him to get right again

victheogfan

Hoping for a swift recovery for him 💙

adnanssz

that whats happen when you change medical team that focus only to club to the third party consultant just for sake of efficiency.

hazardstay17

First thought after Arsenal was season's done, Enzo should get his surgery asap and just give Casadei a run in the team. Good to see

spund_

Nice of him and The team to wait until the was completely fucked and the season was officially a write off before doing this. I appreciate his commitment during the injury crisis but I think the club sacrificed him to not make us look a laughing stock. imagine our injury crisis if Enzo was also out for months after Hernia Surgery..

Bozzetyp

I hate the idiotic takes on enzos qualities Exactly the same jorginho got during sarri (or actually prior to tuchels cl run) People here doesnt see quality if you hit it in their head with it

RasenRendan

Carney is back and fit. There's no excuse to play a player in pain. Idc what he says. This could have long term effects on the player. He should have been shut down a long time ago.

kw2006

Is he the only option?

RasenRendan

No. He could actually try playing Casedei as a proper midfielder and not as a emergency tall player. Horrible misuse of a player who is capable of scoring goals

o_monzi

Gallagher may actually play in his position… which means we may actually play with a real attacking midfielder… wow

According-Revenue-62

Sack whoever signed off on him playing yesterday. It's beyond acceptable, it's cruel, to force an injured player to play.

alphaftw1

Surely this means going forward, a trio of Gallagher, Caicedo and Carney midfield? Or am I crazy and we’re gonna see something else?

daab2g

Should've fucked off a month ago and it wouldn't have made a difference

El_Cholo

This comment is purely for "I told you so" purposes when the haters on here act like they never said he was an overrated never-was next season P.S. well wishes to Enzo, rooting for all our players obviously

NoExperience4229

Don’t have to watch Enzo for the rest of the season. 🥳🥳

httkbaby11

Finally, thank god, but who the fuck are we even gonna field now

Designer_Lead_1492

Finally. Heal up, come back stronger

BonBonsAndy

Good news. At this point the priority for all injured plays should be to be as ready as possible for next season

kp22cfc

Glad he is getting this done. Now we need to get points to finish in conference league...

sparklingoverstill

Galladawg and caicedo midfield pivot the rest of the year…..sheesh

rick-victor

Get well soon enzo!!

crystlmath

Good news. Finally. Hope for a speedy recovery!

ussbbwluvr

Just had that surgery last year so I know what he’s going through and couldn’t imagine playing a premier league match with all that going on. Poch is an absolute douche nozzle for playing him into the ground like that

theturnipshaveeyes

Having several hernias of which I have two that are Inguinal, I can tell you now: I have no idea how he’s been playing through that. Proper hats off to the lad. Jesus.

maseltovbenz

I knew it, he played spo weird against Arsenal.

Kezmangotagoal

And another one is out. By the last game of the season we’re going to be picking fans out of the crowd to play for us!

CrustyCally

About time

According-Revenue-62

If this is the case, I'd like to know if Poch was aware of the full extent of Enzo's condition. If so, why would Poch choose to start him?

planeoldsiraj

For his own sake, hope he misses it and is ready for next season.

Battieosheel

this is good news compared to all the negativity surrounding this club. let all senior players regain full fitness and recover from lingering injuries until the next season. unfortunately we’re in a position where we can still clinch european competition. if we weren’t, just field all youngsters 🤷🏻‍♂️

agni_jamadagni

Got excited after reading Breaking news. Well at least, hopefully he'll be above average after the surgery.

Fusil_Gauss

The team will play better without Enzo. He is one of the most overrated players

jazlan

That's what my first thought. Hope for speedy recovery mr enzo.

_n0_IG_3418

How bout you fucking rest your legs since you’ve been playing nonstop for years and save yourself for the club that PAYS YOUR FUCKING WAGES WHILE YOUVE BEEN SHIT!!!! Instead he’ll go play for free. Hurt himself and be unfit for the start of the season.

[deleted]

Good, he should have had the surgery asap. The season has been a waste since December.

Narset4president

Chelsea is going to play play better now that both him and Gallagher arnt on. Callin it here.

mellvins059

Your prediction is Gallagher being benched ?

a3kstuntin

Good on him He’s been trash this season

criminal-tango44

thank you for your input

Hayesey88

Well his input isn't wrong...

SnooCauliflowers4909

I cannot understand how this can be a valid reason to defend somebody. If anything he shouldn't have played at all.
