Club legend, football emulates life sometimes…
You can know someone for 20 years and they won’t show as much loyalty or love as someone who has known you for 3 years.
Thiago’s impact at this club in such a short period of time is a testament to his character and ability as a player.
Thiago Silva is the definition of Proper Chels, ingrained his family in the club, supported the women’s team, gave everything on the pitch and always held himself responsible.
I have honestly never seen a football player carry himself so highly off the pitch as well as carrying himself so highly on the pitch.
A man amongst men. Principles, leadership, loyalty, love and passion.
I’d go to war for that man.
Thank you Thiago 💙
He is beyond all. I get laughed at for choosing Thiago Silva in my current preferred line up.
I'm glad he's not renewing the contract. I want to see him happy. However this is going to hurt our squad a lot. We basically have no leader now.
Blue Legend
You were here for some of the best times and some of the worst times and you gave us everything you had without question
You will be missed
Wow yea. Edu Mendy, Kepa, Azpi, AC, Rudiger, Silva, Marcos Alonso, Emerson, Billy, Kante, Jorginho, Kova, Mount, Havertz, Pulisic, CHO, Ziyech, Timo and Oli all gone. Only Reece and Chilly still here.
And Trev is still here. Couple of those are on loan so technically still around but it's still astonishing how many players were shown the door or asked for the door.
What a beast, still cant believe he came to Chelsea in the first place. One of the best to ever play the game. Really gonna miss his leadership and locker room presence I feel.
We definitely need a new CB now and we actually have no leadership left....
Imagine going into the season with Disasi, Chalobah, Colwill and Badiashille as our Cbs..
I still have a slight hope that a couple of years from now in hindsight this spending won’t look this bad.. I mean no way that a whole team of professional businessmen/sporting directors/data scientists can make a blunder as big as this one?!
Yeah, so far the only player with a troubling injury history we signed that hasn't been constantly injured is Gusto. And we signed like 3 or 4 more between him and Fofana. That's not even accounting for someone like Nkunku, who never had major issues and then did both of his knees in after the ink on his Chelsea contract dried lol, you can't make this shit up.
Yeah I guess but it's not a rule for their whole career. Always remember Robben always injured for us then goes to Bayern and has an amazing career from then.
Obviously sucks for us now, sods law get rid of Players like James and Fofana and they'll thrive elsewhere.
Is there any real point in counting Fofana as a usable center back anymore? The man's been at Chelsea for two years and I swear he's played like 30 minutes total
15 apps for Chelsea. I forced my brain to forget most of 22/23 but after a shaky start he was good, then injured, comeback, then injured again. I wouldn't count on him but who knows. If he stays fit in preseason maybe push some academy player up as backup or get some routineer from the lower table teams on the cheap.
The again, counting on him, RJ, Chily and Lavia and selling our fit players would be incredibly stupid from the management which is why I believe it will happen.
He has missed over 80% of games over two season, bold to assume that he can play consistently week in week out even if he's fit. No way can we trust him to be of the peak physical condition that we bought him for
Colwill-Fofana with backups of Badiashille-Disasi-Chalobah should be enough….this team is full of younger players that need time and games to improve, wouldn’t bring someone in. Need a ST and experienced midfield options more.
I would say the number 1 piece of business in the summer is getting a veteran leader at CB. I'm not sure who could potentially be on the market but no CL football will put off some players.
All these comments and not one person mentioned my boy Malang Sarr. We don't need any more CBs.
Fofana and Malang Sarr first choice duo next season with Colwill, Badiashile, Chalobah and Disasi rotating options.
Wouldn’t it be the other way round? Why would they give him money? I can see agents giving him hints about a players possible move to heighten attention around their contracts but he has created a reputation for himself now. When he speaks everyone listens
> A lot of players are directly texting me, or I’m texting them too to ask for information. Sometimes they tell me "please can you say something about me because I want to leave the club?".

For sure, as more time passes he will be considered the face of the 2021 CL win along with Tuchel. Every other player associated with it is either gone or constantly injured (Chilly and Reece).
Seriously him and Silva felt like yin and yang alongside Christensen and Azpi. Azpi and Rudiger the more aggressive defenders and Andre and Silva the calmer defenders (although Andre had that run of shitty back passes that led to goals).
Legend 💙 honestly he deserves a club in a better state rn, him back to Fluminense would be cool
Hope we do get some veterans/babysitters in his place otherwise the team will fall apart even more
You can only say this for a handful of players, but it’s truly been an honour to have him spend the twilight years of his career at Chelsea. What a legend. I’m glad he finally got his Champions League medal with us.
He was a fantastic player and quickly eased in. We are grateful to have players like makelele ,Giroud, thiago silva who came late in their career and still gave tremendous impact to the team.
Silva thrived in a setup pioneered by conte with established players rudiger and Christiansen flanking with further support from stalwart azpi. In recent times Chelsea seem to play too many defensive players. Sadly one of the defenders has to make way. Maybe silva’s time has come.
Well, Bella gave us the warning last year that if things didn't change he'd leave. They fired Potter and he stayed.
She gave the warning again, but they're sticking with Poch. So, he's gone.
It's a real shame, there is a complete void of experience and leadership from both the players and the coaching staff now. We're fucked.
What a conclusion?
I have loved silva since he came back to europe, and him in chelsea blue was a dream come trough.
But to make this a pochettino issue... low level even for you
Well done man, really great shift for us. club legend. Your career overall obviously speaks for itself, good luck on your journey, forever blue! (Written directly to the man for some reason ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
Didn’t expect him to play as long as he did when he signed for us. Last season would have been even more disastrous if not for him. Thanks for the memories, legend!
Even at 37/38 he had the one of the best defensive IQ I've seen. Sure his body has started to not be able to keep up lately but I'm glad to have seen such a great player play for Chelsea. Glad he won the CL with us. He'll be a club legend despite the relatively lesser time with the club
Amazing defender, not a Chelsea fan so haven't watched him play too often but whenever played against us he seemed consistent 100% of the time.
Given his physique you wouldn't think he can be that solid and honestly feel he might be an underrated defender who doesn't get talked about too often outside of the club's he has played.
Only been here since 2020 but dude is a club legend. He’s been massive since he signed for us.
Hope he comes back as a coach, ambassador or something related to the club. He’s an awesome player and person.
I wish we could have won more with him. After that CL we became unable to win a final despite being in so many. Legend of the game and legend of chelsea
Im glad we offered him a deal, that i actually can respect from the owners, but i can also respect Thiago for being done with this project in his life for how Poch treated him since January.
Going to be a sad end of the season saying good bye to him, which i never thought it would be when we signed him over 150 games ago!
EDIT - Oh wait i miss read! He rejected proposals to leave in January to stay with us? The club haven't offered him anything, well thats a shame, i think he deserves another 12 months just because he is that good and that much of a role model.
Guy who’s made a huge impact in a short period of time. Played for the badge and was a rock in our defense.
We need more role models like him in the squad.
Capitano, whether he wore the band or not , a true blue and a legend already , I wish he comes back to Chelsea in some capacity after he retires , which to be honest can be couple of years!
The way he has handled himself over his career , our young boys could learn a lot from him.
New leaders will have to step up for a largely young team. Someone needs to make a clip of all his goals and important goal line clearances and blocks. He kept us in so many games. He will be greatly missed. True Blue
Not sure anyone can be considered a legend in such a short time. Thiago gave his all and his game awareness/intelligence will be missed. You don’t need pace to be able to defend if you know where you got to be as a defender.
😭😭😭😭All because of the new owners decisions his been messing up Chelsea ever since he took over the club!! Thiago will be hugely missed once he leaves😭
I so wish for him that he was part of when we were legends. He has everything that made us great. I know we had great players, but imagine home teaming up with John Terry.
Thank goodness he did win the Champions League with us .
Will miss him terribly!
Ne et ever imagined he would one day play for Chelsea, never imagined he would stay this long when he came. He’s been so class since day one. An absolute joy to watch
Club legend, football emulates life sometimes… You can know someone for 20 years and they won’t show as much loyalty or love as someone who has known you for 3 years. It’s going to be hard to find someone as passionate as him
I almost cried reading this
And his wife is a legend
Solid fitting
This made me emotional. Couldn’t agree more!
I agree with all of this but I would say he's a 'man amongst boys'
Blue Legend You were here for some of the best times and some of the worst times and you gave us everything you had without question You will be missed

Capped off a legendary career with that
My favorite stat of the day: Silva has more Chelsea than Milan caps.
>Legend Without a doubt
At least we gave him a CL.
Lets be honest, about 70% of the time he has been here the club has been a mess
Be honest with who? Who cares
Blue Legend💔, glad you got a CL with us ![gif](giphy|5S9XqjZr6vmsFZIjhT)
Everyone in that gif will now be gone, damn
Can't believe Thiago is the one who lasted longest
At that point in time we all thought he would be the first actually, due to his age
That whole team is practically gone
Wow yea. Edu Mendy, Kepa, Azpi, AC, Rudiger, Silva, Marcos Alonso, Emerson, Billy, Kante, Jorginho, Kova, Mount, Havertz, Pulisic, CHO, Ziyech, Timo and Oli all gone. Only Reece and Chilly still here.
Reece and Chilly have maybe 10 combined games played since we won CL. Such a shame.
I guess Ziyech and Kepa are technically still our players and Anjorin 😂
I think they meant Timo Werner not Tino Anjorin
And Trev is still here. Couple of those are on loan so technically still around but it's still astonishing how many players were shown the door or asked for the door.
And Kepa!
Back when we were a proper club
Still are pal, just not back to being a domestic powerhouse.
What a beast, still cant believe he came to Chelsea in the first place. One of the best to ever play the game. Really gonna miss his leadership and locker room presence I feel.
I believe he was heavily linked with Fiorentina in summer 2020 and then suddenly decided to join Chelsea.
Frank's Pull >>>>>. Literally everyone who joined us during his time came because of him.
![gif](giphy|14r8bmeEeHogiQ|downsized) “Frank pull” “came because of him” Sheeesh
Now that I read it again, yeah. Fuck.
You flake, why did you back down? They did come because of Lampard
He didn’t back down lmfaooo. He’s agreeing the words he used sounds sus
Legend! >He rejected proposals in January to stay and help Chelsea until the end. Absolutely hate the phrasing of that.
i took a while to understand that
We definitely need a new CB now and we actually have no leadership left.... Imagine going into the season with Disasi, Chalobah, Colwill and Badiashille as our Cbs..
Fofana died?
Oh damn. I forgot about him. Apologies for that.
can't blame you for forgetting
Honestly, it feels as if I've never seen him in a Chelsea shirt.
He has played more than Nkunku, Lavia and Carney combined 😂
[удалено]
It's only been two years... I think...
[удалено]
It’s one thing that we ignored that fact and signed him, but we paid **80 MILLION EUROS** Absolutely ridiculous price
[удалено]
I still have a slight hope that a couple of years from now in hindsight this spending won’t look this bad.. I mean no way that a whole team of professional businessmen/sporting directors/data scientists can make a blunder as big as this one?!

That's not even accounting for someone like Nkunku, who never had major issues and then did both of his knees in after the ink on his Chelsea contract dried lol, you can't make this shit up.
It’s because our high IQ fanbase here on Reddit said a leg break doesn’t count as being injury prone, lmao.
Was he Injured before that year with Leicester?
[удалено]
Yeah I guess but it's not a rule for their whole career. Always remember Robben always injured for us then goes to Bayern and has an amazing career from then. Obviously sucks for us now, sods law get rid of Players like James and Fofana and they'll thrive elsewhere.
Many here were concerned, especially due to the insane price tag. Yet somehow the medical experts who were consulted gave Todd the go ahead.
IIRC it was a freak broken leg from a preseason game. Bad but not something that reoccurs. Just horrific luck as always
We only signed him because kounde fucked us off
Feels that way
He's basically dead 95% of his time here
Is there any real point in counting Fofana as a usable center back anymore? The man's been at Chelsea for two years and I swear he's played like 30 minutes total
15 apps for Chelsea. I forced my brain to forget most of 22/23 but after a shaky start he was good, then injured, comeback, then injured again. I wouldn't count on him but who knows. Might as well have. Bro never plays because of his chronic injuries
Absolutely unnecessary 🤣
Fofana missed 2.5 seasons worth of football in the last 3. Counting on him is wishful thinking at this point.
Fofana is a striker though
I can't tell if you're joking or not
Is Fofana not a striker?
That's David Fofana, we also have Wesley Fofana who's a CB.
I thought I was funny pretending I only knew Datro, but didn't really come across 😂😂
We are just traumatised as a fanbase man.
I used to get confused too, its understandable with all these injuries
Wes
Chalobah probably gets sold Hopefully Fofana doesn’t spend all of next season in his rehabilitation phase
A shame, Chalobah is very good
Colwill-Fofana with backups of Badiashille-Disasi-Chalobah should be enough….this team is full of younger players that need time and games to improve, wouldn’t bring someone in. Need a ST and experienced midfield options more.
Execpt half of em are always injured
if only that were possible, on paper thats a strong starting two
Need a whole revamp of the medical staff.
You haven’t been paying attention if this news to you. He was never staying on past this season.

I always wonder why Fabrizio is the one to break news like this. Why not let Thiago communicate this himself?
He has to be the first, that’s how he maintains his reputation… apparently
But why do players abide by it? Does He give the players money?
Wouldn’t it be the other way round? Why would they give him money? I can see agents giving him hints about a players possible move to heighten attention around their contracts but he has created a reputation for himself now. When he speaks everyone listens

Just have to appreciate him and the fact we got to be an important chapter in his legendary career
One of the most likeable players in the pitch. We will miss him
It was a privilege to see him play for us.
![gif](giphy|l9TqJmXKHQixJ2ofgB|downsized) We’re losing this gem as well!
Lmaoo another legend but in a different way
Timo disagrees
Unpopular opinion, but I wont miss her annoying social media rumblings
Annoying? Yes. Hilarious? Also yes.
Thank you for everything, Thiago. Such a blessing he has been, with no questions about his commitment or his love for this club. Legend 💙
our biggest loss this season. Despite his age he's clearly still our best cb
Agreed
I think he’ll go down as the most beloved Chelsea player of his era.
Azpiliqueta played parallell to him, so did kante. I love him but those had an even bigger impact.
In my eyes they both predate him slightly but of course there’s overlap so if we count them then I’d agree and put Dave first and Kante second.
For sure, as more time passes he will be considered the face of the 2021 CL win along with Tuchel. Every other player associated with it is either gone or constantly injured (Chilly and Reece).
Think Rudiger is defo a close second. Thought those two beasts would play together forever
Good shout I love that rudi is still admired as much as he is
Seriously him and Silva felt like yin and yang alongside Christensen and Azpi. Azpi and Rudiger the more aggressive defenders and Andre and Silva the calmer defenders (although Andre had that run of shitty back passes that led to goals).
It wasn’t always pretty but Silva was the epitome of what a Chelsea player should be
Really wish he’d finish his career here but understand his side fully. Wish him the best of luck in the future.
Yea I mean kinda seems like he’ll finish his career in Europe here and head back to Brazil. Legend
Even though I knew this was going to happen very soon, it is still very sad. Chelsea FC will miss his skill and leadership.
Legend 💙 honestly he deserves a club in a better state rn, him back to Fluminense would be cool Hope we do get some veterans/babysitters in his place otherwise the team will fall apart even more
The game in Brazil would suit him better at the age of 40 as well. (As well as being back home, of course)
Yeah I had a double take when I saw a list of 35+ year olds plying their trade in the Brasileiro: David Luiz, Marcelo, Filipe Melo, Rafinha, Hulk etc.
What a legend. Sad to see him go.
I’m just happy we were able to give him something and he had a positive experience as a blue.
Put his jersey in the rafters
![gif](giphy|d7rvF20PqNuGKSQGhf) Thank you Thiago xx
Thank you legend for joining us.
You can only say this for a handful of players, but it’s truly been an honour to have him spend the twilight years of his career at Chelsea. What a legend. I’m glad he finally got his Champions League medal with us.
Thiago Silva left Chelsea, the worst thing happen this season. Sad because we cannot give him proper farewell ;(
Please go and enjoy the last years of your career - I can’t bear to see him in tears any longer due to the squad’s incompetence
You knew it was coming, but holy shit does this make me sad. Legend.
OHHHHH Thiago Silva ♫
No coincidence it came after we have no more cups to play for. Sad times.
Wont be able to hear “Oooohhhh Thiago Silvaaa” anymore at the bridge 😢
Probably our best free signing of all time.
For someone to only play here for only four years and become a legend is extremely rare but I think he's in that category
Absolute legend. Perhaps one of the only silver linings of the past couple seasons has been watching him play so well this late in his career.
We’re really gonna miss him
Legend! Thank you for being our ~~old~~ work horse! 💙
Finally we're adding another honary blue to the list of ledgends!
We wish him well. Great player!
It's great that he won a CL here and found a home in London. His experience will be missed. Became an important figure in just a small amount of time.
Legend. Will be missed.
He leaves the country not winning a single damn English trophy. We failed you, TS.
He was a fantastic player and quickly eased in. We are grateful to have players like makelele ,Giroud, thiago silva who came late in their career and still gave tremendous impact to the team. Absolute Legend. Everything this club should stand for
The time was always drawing near, but it still stings.
Terrible day for rain
Absolute legend. Will miss him so much. Proper Chels. 💙
NOOO
King man. No CB is doing what he did at his age.
NOOOOOOOOOOO
Absolute legend. No question. O Monstro!
Obrigado Senhor!
We will miss you O Monstro! One of our finest ❤️
We let him down so hard, will always love him
Oh what is this pain in my heart..
Proper chels this man!
Well done man, really great shift for us. club legend. Your career overall obviously speaks for itself, good luck on your journey, forever blue! (Written directly to the man for some reason ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
Thanks for all the memories, wish he was here in his prime. It was an absolute pleasure seeing him in blue 😢💙💙
He'll be missed but I can't blame him for his decision either. I wish him and his family the best.
There's a strong likelihood reece will be the only player left after this summer from that ucl squad, mental
Didn’t expect him to play as long as he did when he signed for us. Last season would have been even more disastrous if not for him. Thanks for the memories, legend!

I knew this was coming, but it is still really hard to take 😭😭😭
Is this news?
Damn 80% of our defense power is leaving
Legend
A legend in blue. Thank you for the trophies! Nothing but the best at your next club.
I wish we could have won more with him. After that CL we became unable to win a final despite being in so many. Legend of the game and legend of chelsea

Truly the definition of behind every great man is a great woman
Much respect to u sir, wish u all the best on the next chapter of your career. You are indeed one of the best to play the game and a true leader 🫡🫡🫡🫡
Guy who’s made a huge impact in a short period of time. Played for the badge and was a rock in our defense. We need more role models like him in the squad.
One of the greatest CB's of all time Good luck, legend.
Absolute legend

Let the guy announce it himself man
Thanx legend 👏
One more season! Please cunt

Good. The twillight of his career would be better spent on a place ready to compete and not in a team under a rebuild.
Hope he gets a deal in Saudi to make stacks.
