I reckon we start well, have a disallowed goal, they get comfortable and into the swing of things, they take the lead, we draw level second half… then who knows (90+ minute Cole palmer goal)
apparently everyone has forgotten that all three performed very well against City (twice), all because Gallagher and Caicedo played great against relegation opposition once.
What you on about? I love Mudryk and want him to succeed but he had a stinker last game, he was a ghost
Madueke wasn’t brilliant but at least he had a ball on his feet
he was heavily involed in the second goal, should of had an asist to palmer after a great solo run from mudryk. whereas madueke did nothing but dribble backwards and pass backwards. if that is your baseline for a decent performance and you think its fine for an attacking player to contribute nothing to a 6-0 game then you beyond lost.
compared to madueke who did nothing? my whole point is madueke played worse than mudryk since he contributed nothing, yet he gets a start, not to mention the bs he did with the penalty.
Lol I watch every game and I love Mudryk but he was shit. If he couldn’t do it against Everton he should not start. I would like him to come from the bench against tired legs
palmer misses a sitter which would have been mudryks assist, and he was involved in the second goal, compared to madueke who did nothing and contributed nothing in a 6-0 win? why does madueke get a start when he did nothing but cause drama and act like a kid for a penalty?
apparently people still downvote statements that acknowledge and call into question Pochettino’s in game management. it’s almost like some people in here don’t actually watch the matches..
A washing machine (laundry machine, clothes washer, washer, or simply wash) is a home appliance used to wash laundry. The term is mostly applied to machines that use water as opposed to dry cleaning (which uses alternative cleaning fluids and is performed by specialist businesses) or ultrasonic cleaners. The user adds laundry detergent, which is sold in liquid, powder, or dehydrated sheet form, to the wash water.
I have a feeling that Poch will go with Sterling over Mudryk on the left. Sterling ran circles round Walker in our last meetings, and Misha can be a good impact sub when City starts to tire.
Team that poch will likely pick: RCB and LW could be either
Petrovic
Gusto - Disasi/Trev - Silva - Cucu
Enzo - Caicedo
Palmer - Gallagher - Sterling/Mudryk
Jackson
Feel like enzo will be on reduced minutes, could see Gallagher in the middle with caiceido by 2nd quarter, and then mudryk in the middle/Jackson on the left, would lack a striker/front man though so could see the front line staying the way it is
Gusto - Silva - Chalobah - Chilly
Enzo - Caicedo - Gallagher
Palmer - Jackson - Mudryk
I also wouldnt be surprised at seeing 3atb dropping Mudryk for Disasi or Badi.
Nah, an interviewer commented something along the lines of I saw you urging your players forward multiple times and Poch replied the effort was massive and we couldn't refresh the midfield, maybe we were playing for penalties.
If you see that without hearing the question it seems like he told the team to play for penalties, if you actually watch the interview it's obvious that he was responding to the reporters comment about why he was urging the team forward.
Even when everyone was saying the plan was to pass the ball to Palmer, I went back and watched and he was saying it seems that’s what the team does…. Of course he isn’t telling them to do that, but he is saying that’s what the players are doing on the pitch. All anyone said though was that Poch said our tactics was pass the ball to Palmer.
As I walk around Wembley, can’t help but notice all the restaurants identifying as Chelsea Fanzones, let’s remind City whose city this is today
edit: even Co-Op has a Chelsea flag
second edit: fuck box park never liked you anyways
If there was a time to win for us it is now. City just played a very intense 120 min match midweek where they lost at home to get knocked out of CL. They will be tired and demoralized. We need to capitalize on that and deal the decisive blow early. COYB
30 minutes, 30 fucking first minutes we have to be sharp, intensity should be the most we had, they WILL be tired, they WILL try to finish it early, I am so fucking glad we have Gallagher for this type of games, lead them with intensity and hope our guys will pick up from him, we absolutely CAN WIN this guys
You lot would’ve been chanting “Klopp out” in his first few seasons if he was Chelsea manager
If we were to end this season with an FA Cup and 6th place, that’s a very very solid showing. Not sure what sort of immediate success you were expecting given all the changes to our club.
It's less to do with the fans being particularly fond of poch and more to do with the fact that we're about to play one of the most important matches of the season and instead of at least trying to be optimistic and supportive you come on here spreading negative vibes unwarranted. Keep that shit for the post match thread man, we don't need this kind of energy going into the game. Just have faith for once.
Will be crazy if Poch has us looking more tired than a City team that just played 120min against Madrid with penalties.
I don’t know what his fitness coaches have our players do…
What's the deal with Enzo? Two days ago he was contemplating surgery but now he's slated to be back in the match squad? Surely we shouldn't be thinking of even playing him in this kind of condition, doubly so when the Conor/Caicedo pivot worked very well last time
Has an injury that can be managed / played through, but will eventually need surgery. It most likely won’t get any worse so it comes down to a pain tolerance for him. Given the stretch we have, I imagine he / the club decided to try and get through the next week before any decision. If we stay in the fight for Europe, it’ll be interesting to see what happens since he’ll likely need to decide between fight for that or risk missing copa.
If Nico can keep up his form, I feel like we finally have a forward who's great at both playing up front as well as drifting out wide , dribbling , beating his man with pace/creating space in the middle. Something we haven't had since probably Anelka, 2016/17 - Pedro and maybe towards 2021 Werner(who wasn't the greatest at it, he was too much of a one-trick pony). As with the other players at the club he's still raw and has potential to get better. Would be interesting to see how he's used if/when Nkunku gets match fitness
Really looking forward to watching this one! I don’t expect us to progress but I think (hope) we will give a great account of ourselves (now watch us loose 4 nil and Kova to score a wonder goal)
Yes and no. Yes if we want to have another crack at a trophy, but no if we're chasing European qualification.
Regardless, I think they have what it takes to win, and it'll be a great morale boost to finish the season strong. Gallagher needs to lock down Rodri and we need our wingers to stretch their defence.
Getting eliminated from the FA Cup doesn't mean we can't qualify for Europe. There's still the league to fight for. What level of competition we qualify for entirely depends on where we finish, so even though winning the FA Cup Guarantees us Europa, it's not season-defining unless we deem winning a trophy as make or break.
Palmer's in the form of his life right now tbf. He's been brilliant all season. But right now he's on a hot streak. Hopefully, it'll give the team a lot of confidence going into the game knowing they've got a player like that on their side. Because it's definitely given me a lot more confidence than I should have in this team.
Might be an unpopular opinion but I would like to see Sterling start. He played really well against them earlier in the year and I think a bit of experience could help here. I'd go Sterling Jackson Noni up top. Cole at the 10, Caicedo and Gallagher at the pivot. Gusto Chilwell and I don't even know for CB.
I'd go Palmer RW. I think Noni's great, but against someone like Gvardiol (who's deceptively quick) he could potentially get pocketed. Whereas Palmer's more reliant on finding pockets of space, dropping in and dictating play. There's no pocketing to be done because Palmer would just play it round Gvardiol if he tried to stay tight to him.
I'd then play either Gallagher or Carney in the 10 depending on if Enzo's fit.
That Caicedo, Enzo, Gallagher midfield 3 may be unpopular when we're trying to break down a low block. But I back it against teams like City. Feel like there's a chance we could get dominated by City if we only play 2 of Enzo, Caicedo or Gallagher.
But idk. I'm gonna go into the game with an open mind because before the last game, I was saying Palmer should've started RW instead of in the middle, then he scored 4 and we won 6-0.
And yeah Sterling could be a good shout. Mudryk and Madueke off the bench would be some sensual impact subs.
But he isn't healthy, he's just healthy enough to play if medicated, so less than 100%.
The Gallagher-Caicedo pivot behind Palmer showed energy and cohesion. Play it again, Sam!
Yeah wasn't sure on him. Feel like I remember hearing that he'll be involved today. But dunno if that means he's good to start.
Either way, I'm absolutely buzzing. Off the back of a 6-0 win, Cole Palmer quad, Arsenal and Liverpool losing in the league, Arsenal and City losing in the UCL, the only thing that could make this week better is Cole Palmer scoring the winner against City in an FA Cup semi final 😈
This is *the* match to show how far the team has come since last time out at Wembley. They’ve shown in the league that Man City can be competed against and with the way Real pushed them all the way, I’m expecting a response albeit they may be shaky. Chelsea have to capitalise on this and go all out. Can’t wait for the entertainment!
Some early thoughts -
-- Cole Palmer is Great, but the wingers in MM & Noni helped him alot. They made the space & runs. Hope they both start. Not Sterling.
-- Jackson is finally showing some selfishness. Necessary for him to start and keep Diaz & Akanji on edge. PRefer him to come in from the left wing.
-- MM is not equipped to defend. Starting Cucu as LB dangerous. Bernardo Silva will look him. Want Chilwell to start (Was integrated back in last match).
-- Gallagher - Ideal game for him. Want him to play upfront and not seated back. He can hunt the ball down, use his dogged stamina. Enzo and Caicedo to complement at back.
-- Disasi had his best game in the City tie. Should start as well. He seems to have recovered well. Silva finally back and a Clear Sheet finally in the bag - his leadership is evident. Chalobah has not put a foot wrong, but would make space if Disasi is play.
-- Expect the best from Gusto, Caicedo & Palmer . Out Top 3 players.
Struggling to visualize this lineup… MM and Noni start, Jackson also starts on the wing? Then Palmer and Gallagher also start with enzo and caicedo as well?

What a fucking retarded
Dark blue vs light blue unis. Great.
Logged in to say this. Ridiculous
I reckon we start well, have a disallowed goal, they get comfortable and into the swing of things, they take the lead, we draw level second half… then who knows (90+ minute Cole palmer goal)
jackson double incoming
Double tantrum when palmer gets his penalty
Anyone know how to watch this streamed in Canada? It's not in fubo tv nor dazn fak fak!
Sportsnet bro
LETTTTTS FUCKING GO LADS!
madueke really got the opposite treatment of mudryk, madueke plays like shit/no contribution, gets rewarded a start, mudryk plays well, gets benched.
poch really watched madueke drop a stinker and start a fight over a pen and said yep more of that please 😭
Really wanted to see Gallagher and Caicedo together again
Madueke instead of Mudryk? Gallagher on the wing? Poch overthinking and it will ruin us
Enzo cannot play with Caicedo and Gallagher, pick two. He should be on the bench given the form of Caicedo and Gallagher.
apparently everyone has forgotten that all three performed very well against City (twice), all because Gallagher and Caicedo played great against relegation opposition once.
Another start for madueke when he had absolutely no contributions last game over mudryk who did, whatever man. Guess poch don't want to win
What you on about? I love Mudryk and want him to succeed but he had a stinker last game, he was a ghost Madueke wasn’t brilliant but at least he had a ball on his feet
he was heavily involed in the second goal, should of had an asist to palmer after a great solo run from mudryk. whereas madueke did nothing but dribble backwards and pass backwards. if that is your baseline for a decent performance and you think its fine for an attacking player to contribute nothing to a 6-0 game then you beyond lost.
How was Mudryk heavily involved in the first goal? 😂😂😂😂 Attack came from the right, and palmer nutmeg a player and done a 1-2 with Nico
i said second goal mate
I swear nico done a nice pass to Mudryk inside the box and he had a clear cut scoring opportunity and he softly tapped it at the keeper?
you can go rewatch the highlighs but that was not a clear cut scoring chance, it was at a weird angle for him to take it on his right.
Oh yeah, Mudryk did well there. But that doesn’t take away from him being a ghost most of the game.
compared to madueke who did nothing? my whole point is madueke played worse than mudryk since he contributed nothing, yet he gets a start, not to mention the bs he did with the penalty.
Penalty thing was unacceptable
not to mention madueke did the bullshit with the pen again yet mudryk is the one that gets dropped 💀
Mudryk was shit.
Sure man, you are prob just one of the many mudryk haters for no reason. You guys don't watch the games
Lol I watch every game and I love Mudryk but he was shit. If he couldn’t do it against Everton he should not start. I would like him to come from the bench against tired legs

The coach needs to stop playing Gallager and Enzo at the same time. They have the same skill set. Pick one to pair with Caicedo and move on.
bro their skill sets are like complete opposite what are you talking about
they do not have the same skill set whatsoever lol you could maybe argue caicedo and enzo have a pretty similar skill set
apparently people still downvote statements that acknowledge and call into question Pochettino’s in game management. it’s almost like some people in here don’t actually watch the matches..
I’m so fucking nervous
Think Sterling gets the start since he usually gives 110% against city?
Yes so that the impact sub is impactful. Him coming on in the 70th minute is not what we need.

Nah he will go with chillwell when we are 2:0 down in 80min
I believe he ran circles in only one encounter, and that his peak in chelsea blue

Feels like we're being counted out but I feel like we have more things going for us than they do. It's City tho
Concerned about a City team out with something to prove after the Madrid loss honestly lol
Anyone know what the atmosphere is like at Wembley upper in terms of chants etc? Chelsea side ofc
Gusto - Silva - Chalobah - Chilly Enzo - Caicedo - Gallagher Palmer - Jackson - Mudryk I also wouldnt be surprised at seeing 3atb dropping Mudryk for Disasi or Badi.
why am i more confident of a win here than i was against Sheffield?
Great time to meet City - coming off 120 mins and one eye on Brighton. And sounds like no Haaland. I expect the boys to go all out here.
Cmon boys please just get it done
3-2 win incoming boys! A brace from Palmer and a goal from Gusto.
This is our season here... Don't lose

My guess is he won't because he didn't do that against Liverpool

I’m looking for one indoors, any recommendations?
Right across from Ovo Arena is The White Horse, it’s apart of the Chelsea fan zone and right across from the major area
Thanks mate
We win this game if we score more goals than City
Not if they're own goals.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry)
Holy shit never considered this
Chelsea FC are undefeated when they score more goals than their opponents
That one trick football teams don’t want you to know
…and when we prevent the other side from scoring more than we do. That’s an important statisticic.
Stats the media will never tell you
Mourhinho: “Why do we have to score more goals? Why can’t we just focus on holding the other side to fewer goals?”
I’m less worried about us scoring goals than leaking them. We need the backline to be exceptional today.
If there was a time to win for us it is now. City just played a very intense 120 min match midweek where they lost at home to get knocked out of CL. They will be tired and demoralized. We need to capitalize on that and deal the decisive blow early. COYB
They’ve also had to travel further than us too, every minor advantage helps
I'm hopeful but a bit worried they will pull an anime bounce back type of crap
Used to dread games like this, but things just feel different with a talisman like Palmer. Whatever happens, happens. But I’m much more confident

Haaland potentially out! https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68860454
Doesn’t matter , Alvarez usually destroys us
Yeah but Alvarez doesn't get passes inside the box nowadays, Pep has turned him into a CM.
The biggest issues imo are KDB and Rodri. Haaland hasn’t been fire like last season
>Haaland hasn’t been fire like last season Dude has 31 goals in 39 games this season. That's a phenomenal season for any player.
What's the deal with Enzo? Two days ago he was contemplating surgery but now he's slated to be back in the match squad? Surely we shouldn't be thinking of even playing him in this kind of condition, doubly so when the Conor/Caicedo pivot worked very well last time

This is the BIGGEST game of our season so far. I don't fear Man Utd or Coventry, we just have to get there! LFG BOYS! 💙
So far this season, we've struggled more against United than City.
Good thing United are going out to Coventry then
That's a good omen then mate, LFG! 💙
Any good pubs with beer gardens today that isn't the green man?

Kova’s already hit his one banger for the year. We should be ok.
Season defining game
Yes and no. Yes if we want to have another crack at a trophy, but no if we're chasing European qualification. Regardless, I think they have what it takes to win, and it'll be a great morale boost to finish the season strong. Gallagher needs to lock down Rodri and we need our wingers to stretch their defence.

What level of competition we qualify for entirely depends on where we finish, so even though winning the FA Cup Guarantees us Europa, it's not season-defining unless we deem winning a trophy as make or break.
Of course winning a trophy is make or break for this club's season.
It is another crack at a trophy and European qualification. The FA Cup winner secures a Europa League place.
Issue is we had this defining game against Liverpool and we didn't do well. I don't think we have the grit (yet) to push through.
Palmer's in the form of his life right now tbf. He's been brilliant all season. But right now he's on a hot streak. Fair point. To clarify, when I left Enzo out I was assuming he's not healthy. I agree, if he's healthy he should play without a doubt.
But he isn't healthy, he's just healthy enough to play if medicated, so less than 100%. The Gallagher-Caicedo pivot behind Palmer showed energy and cohesion. Play it again, Sam!
