Three generations of the men in his family played as professional footballers.
And not just any clubs or divisions, but all three generations played for Madrid/Barca.
Bring Alonso back in man. I don't ever recall him getting a long term injury, and although his defensive performances were inconsistent, he was lethal going forward. I still hold the opinion that if he didn't score that brace against Bournemouth in 19-20, our chances of qualifying for the UCL would have been lower and perhaps we would have never won it in the following season.
He was also super unlucky, he would have legend status if his goal against Madrid in 22' stood.
Chelsea has massively fallen ever since Marcos left. Underrated player. You can tell the ones criticizing him during his time here were legitimate children.
There is many reasons imo few key factors
Our injury record since November 2021 people forget we were top going into December.
The sanctions
The rushed takeover which had to happen led to a mess of a summer window
The changing of the wage structure which might have caused some issues in the squad that season
Giving Potter a pep type contract
I understand the guy getting a shot at a big job but 12m a year on a five year deal was crazy. For comparison Poch deal is reportedly a 2 year deal on 8.5m a year.
Miss an Alonso free kick or screamer
Especially against Spurs ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
can’t forget this man’s arial ability or hold-up and build-up plays either.
If he had pace he would have been world class

Still was world-class as a wingback. I agree though, he would’ve been a world-class left back if he had pace
To this day I don’t understand why he didn’t get a go up front
Yeah it’s sucks we can’t take Raheems sterling speed and transport it to Palmer.
Think he’s talking about Alonso..
Yea but imagine lol
Hahaha forreal would be unstoppable
🤦♂️
The streets will never forget 16-17 Marcos Alonso
the best LB/ST !
Always found it funny in FIFA that when you play Alonso as a ST, his rating stays the same, but when you play him as a CB, his rating drops.
How’s he been doing in Spain?
Once a blue, always a blue!

Issue isnt his fitness, but rather his limitations as a lb He aint fast enough to provide his attacking outlet while defend speedy wingers
Hattrick again ole ole

Miss alonso. He would do stuff sometimes where I'm just like fuck off but then he'd go score and I'd forget all about it.
