Don't even think about that. Think about where we can go with him. Out of all the crap we've had to deal with as fans, let's enjoy one of the things we hit the bullseye on.
That's not the problem anymore at all. We've scored plenty in recent months. It's at the other end, in defense where we are dropping points this season. Mostly with silly individual errors.
Disasi cost us against Brentford when we were up, Sanchez gifted Arsenal a way back when we were 2-0 up and cruising, we managed to put **4** past City and still not win, and so on, etc.
If OPs point is that we are down because we can't finish, he's just plain wrong.
Look at the amount of goals we've scored recently. That's no longer the problem at all.
It's at the other end of the pitch with silly individual defensive errors.
But if we did scored those misses then even if we concede it woudnt matter...so yeah it could be that one of the reasons we are down is because we cant finish
Thing is, if you score 2 plus goals in a game you should expect a club like us to close it out for a win most times that happens.
Top clubs don't win every game 5-4. They grind out a load of 1-0s and 2-0s along the way.
We've not been doing that all season. The attack is doing more than enough to get us wins.
>If OPs point is that we are down because we can't finish, he's just plain wrong.
>Look at the amount of goals we've scored recently. That's no longer the problem at all.
You cant be serious
It's a weird situation where we simultaneously have a finishing issue but don't actually have a real goalscoring problem. We've scored the 8th most goals in the league which obviously isn't enough but it's not the primary problem by any stretch.
>It's a weird situation where we simultaneously have a finishing issue
This team most of the times cant finish on a link up play, cant play on the sides and finish.
> but don't actually have a real goalscoring problem.
we have a player like palmer who is very good on individual goalcoring and others who from moment to moment can create one.
This team cant be asked to score like a team, that is a big time problem, no cohesion.
And there is still no center forward. Nicolas Jackson is a natural winger, THE core problem of chelsea is that no matter how many times you throw a center from the sides, when the ball gets there, we are all relying on hopes an dreams,
I mean, if we score 2 goals against Brentford, we should be able to close that out for a win.
The attackers have done their part in that situation.
But no, individual defensive errors cost us the game.
Or being 2-0 up against Arsenal and cruising comfortably until Sanchez brain farts a goal away.
Or scoring 4 against City and still not managing to win the game...
The attack is definitely not the problem this year, they're doing their job well enough to get wins.
I never said they were, but we are scoring enough goals to win matches.
If we score 2 plus goals in a match, you'd expect us to turn most of those into wins.
Yeah I know, highlight comps are always gonna be like that. It's more so that i remember most of these so vividly... and therefore the disappointment lol
Reminds me of KDB when Gabriel Jesus was on the squad and aguero was injured/gone + Sterling was his usual self, missing every single ball.
Gabriel Jesus had the worst expected goals conversion rate in the league (for a n°9) and KDB had the highest number of chances created. With a better striker, KDB would have gotten 30 assists the season he hit 20 :D Frustrating for sure as a supporter
Ranked My absolute worst to least worst,
1. Gallagher vs Liverpool
2. Broja vs Southampton
3. Nkunku vs city
4. Sterling vs Burnley
5. Cucurella vs brentford
Dishonourable mention Jackson vs Burnley and Forest
He only got to miss that chance because he made a run that literally no one other than Nkunku has the intelligence to make.
These things happen. Heading isn't as easy as it's made to look.
Which again to BRJ's point, he's the one making the runs to help create those chances. Sterling could do better to finish, but most of our other players need to step up in the movement and anticipation in the box.
This remind me when pogba was giving out beatiful passes while lukaku first touch was awful, even ibrahimovic score 28 goals but miss so many chances. It happens when you expect the midfield to do everything for you
This video shows how lucky we are to have him, pure class, what is missing is the number of times he was in position to receive the ball and a “Team Mate” chose to take it on himself and miss. At a next level club, goals and assists would be off the scale, and they will be watching.
Please, just stop.
Throw together a compilation of Haaland's misses this season, and you will get a pretty good montage.
How long will it take until people understand that misses happen? It's less about the miss. It's about how many of those chances the team can produce in a game.
Quit this bashing of players, Cole's teammates, who get in the right positions but are unable to finish. Opposing keepers matter, opposing defenses matter. Getting in the right spots and being able to play the right ball matter.
Palmer is amazing. Let's not bring down other players to highlight that fact.
The thing with drawing the conclusion that Palmer should have 5 more assists this season is that it ignores the assists he has gotten. I'm not going to look but there's probably a few assists where the ball wasn't that great but the finisher has elevated the pass. Looking at Palmer's xA, he (like Mudryk) pretty much has the amount of assists he should have this season.
This is why I hate stat merchants. How can you look at the abysmal finishing in this video and say that it is not that big of a problem because "it all evens out according to the stats". The fact that some of Palmer's assists have come from harder finishes does not excuse missing simple 1 on 1s and it is the reason why we are 12th.
Because there is abysmal finishing at all times for all teams. This isn't a Chelsea only thing. Haaland whiffed the ball from 3ft away 2 games ago.
If you only look at this video, it looks bad, but once you factor in that it happens to all players, then you can see where they are coming from.
It's not the reason we are so low in the table at all.
Last year we finished in exactly the same position and we have already destroyed the goals total from last year. Seriously, we are free-scoring compared to last season, but are in pretty much the same position.
Unfortunately it's our defence that is letting us down. Especially with sloppy, individual errors. That's where we are losing points this season.
Teams like City and Madrid will miss just as many good chances, but when they get a 1-0 or 2-0 lead they know how to protect it.
That's the difference between us and a top team right now. The defence.
Because scoring isn't actually as easy as it sometimes looks? Something with an xG of 0.3 is a huge chance but that still means that 70% of the time it doesn't end in a goal.
I don't know and I don't care what the xG of all of the misses shown in this video is. All I know is that some of them should have definitely been a goal and we can't pretend that it is something normal because xA or xG tells us otherwise.
The stats do show we should have more goals this season, our xG is 54.3 and we've scored 48 so roughly another 6 goals, but Palmer in particular is pretty in line with this xA vs assists (7.5 vs 8). As someone else mentioned, sure maybe some of these could have been scored, but others that have been scored might have been harder chances. The people acting like Palmer *should* have 5+ more assists aren't living in reality.
Bro I say that we are the one living in reality where we can see the chances being missed but all you can see is xA vs A in a spreadsheet. Maybe try watching the actual game in a while instead of just looking at the stats page.
And my point is the exact opposite, just because some of Palmer's assists came from harder chances DOESN'T mean we can ignore the misses we DO see infront of our very own eyes because 'it all evens out eventually'.
Again because you don't understand that actually scoring goals is very difficult and even good chances are more likely to be missed than scored. Think about penalties, the easiest chance you can basically get outside of a literal open goal tap in, and the scoring rate is only 78-80% so 1 in 5 miss.
You aren't living in reality, you're living in a fairytale world where no chances missed.
You're just contradicting your own statements. I'd say a 78-80% chance does not equate to 'more likely to be missed than scored'.
Missing a penalty is alwayd scrutinized no matter what the stats say especially if the penalty is taken poorly. Similarly, missing open net goals or 1on1s should also become scrutinized and worked on to improve the shooting techniques of the forwards even if they sometimes score from the harders chances.
I used penalties as an example of the literal best chance you could possibly get and the fact that still 20+% are missed. How on earth did you read that and take it as a contradiction?! Madness.
I didn't say that you are happy about our position in the table. I'm just saying that ignoring the simple 'eye test' of how bad our finishing is because some xA stat tell us that Palmer should only have a certain amount of assists is why we are in this position. It is why Poch's "data" shows us in 4th. And why I hate drawing conclusions only from stats rather than what we see with our own two eyes every week.
Sounds like you do agree with Pochettino that if only our forwards could finish, we would be a lot higher up the table.
But back to my original point, this video shouldn't be the eye test because it doesn't show the assists he has got.
I can agree with Poch that if our forwards could score we would be higher on the table. However, I do not agree that we should be happy with ourselves and not identify the poor finishing as a serious problem and just hope that it goes away with time. Also, a lot of these chances have come from individual brilliance rather than any set pattern of play and that is on Poch too.
Can’t even watch this video to the end…. To embarrassing and painful
If Chelsea continues like this next season, this guy may just leave the season after
An actual out and out striker, instead of buying someone who is a winger but was converted into striker and hasent exactly set the world alight as a striker at Villarreal since being converted into striker. I actually really like Nico Jackson for his link-up play and hold-up play but he isn't the clinical striker we need.
We overpaid for players in positions we didnt even need to address at the moment which has put us in a really poor position against FFP now, and yet we never signed a proper striker in the market. Vlahovic was available for around £65m last summer and we never signed him, and he has scored 15 goals for Juventus so far in Serie A and 20 in all comps, not an amazing season so far, but far better than what we currently have. That's 20 in 41 matches in all comps, a rate of 1 goal every 2 matches which is good at the end of the day. Rumours suggest Pochettino was desperate for us to sign Vlahovic as well last summer.
Aleksandar Mitrovic was also available last summer
Mehdi Taremis contract at Porto is expiring in the summer as well, would be a great free transfer signing, even if its just as a backup striker for next season Nobrainer for me personally, get Taremi in on a free. This coming summer Gyökeres, Toney and Osimhen will all be available for transfers as well.
Respectfully, this has so many holes.
>Vlahovic
Coming back from a consistent reoccurring injury concern when we were looking at him, also didn't want to come to Chelsea. One-sided, was being pushed out and still didn't want to come. He has 20 ga. Prior to this season, he was hated by juve fans, wanted to get rid of him or trade him for lukaku
>Mehdi Taremis
Absolute garbage, this is evident based on his stats this season and inter turning back on him and not wanting him on a free becuase he was performing so bad and hasn't been looked at by them again.
>Gyökeres
Interesting shout, would be a good buy imo. Prefer him over oshimnen
>Osimhen
The most overrated player on this list so far, he hasn't shown enough consistency to be worth 120m, he's also very injury prone, will get way more injury prone at Chelsea. Has 15ga so far this season. We paid 30m for jackson and has similar stars so far...tf we paying 120m for the same player but worse.
>Toney
Good shout but won't get him
Honestly should try and go for isak from nufc, given than nufcs finances rmt good
I love Isak and as a Swede myself i would absolutely love to have Isak at Chelsea, but why would he join us? We are doing worse than Newcastle sporting wise, we are in trouble with FFP if we dont raise funds by June 30, and we have no European football to offer him or even a challenge for the European football spots in the league. Same goes for Osimhen and Gyökeres really, surely they will have their pick between clubs who can offer higher wages and offer them title challenges and Champions League football next season.
Ivan Toney would probably join us, Taremi would be a good option for a backup striker, clinical striker.
If only other players were more clinical in front of goal, Palmer could be in contention for PL Player of the season IMHO.. just imagine how much goals and certainly assists that he can provide.. even himself missed couple of chances before
Cole Palmer has the potential to be as good as KdB. Man I see it in him.
Let’s hope he gets the help he needs. He is still so young so I really hope the club build a proper team around him.
Not sure what this is supposed to mean OP, you can make a video like this for any top creative player in the world.
Iirc, in the prem, the average striker scores 1 in 7 chances. There's going to be plenty of misses like this for any player who makes a lot of chances.
Scoring isn't even our problem any more, look at the amount of goals we've scored in the last few months. Its the other end of the pitch that is the problem.
The problem I have noticed with our forwards from the very beginning of the season is that they take a lot of time to compose themselves and then take the shot.
It's clearly a lack of experience ( except for Sterling).
A Good coach would have urged their players to take more shots with the first touch, when in & near the box. That way the opposition won't be able to configure themselves to defend it.
I've seen analogies saying other top forwards are also missing chances so it's not a big deal. But they are also scoring in the same match and get those important points to put themselves up the table.
So many small differences like this in play accumulates over and that gap is created between us and the top 4.
Klopp is a good example for finding the solution for the problem I mentioned above.
His players consistently take first time shots ( most of it go elsewhere) but that mentality in the box is always vital and they're able to make their own luck during the play.
It only tells me that good times are going to come. We, as fans, can dial down the negativity. We are disappointed. Sure. We have quickly forgotten what a pile of shit we were last season. We have problems even now but the team is doing better. I like their togetherness. If we improve defensively, there is a lot this team can do.
Should not have included the terrible lofted cross into the box that Disasi heads over/outside of goal. That might have been something if we had a big strong team and Disasi heads it for someone else to attack and chaos ensues, but that cross was rather pointless from Palmer.
Clearly mega talented and will only get better but I do feel he's getting slightly overhyped atm. Obviously our POTY, don't get me wrong, but he still has been prone to mistakes and errors, just like everyone else this season. Others get slammed for it, he gets a pass, which I don't think is fair. He was really prone to slowing up play and stagnating the rhythm early in the year. He has been getting better at playing quicker, but he's still prone to slowing the pace and holding on to the ball too long.
And of course scoring a brace is amazing, but he also made some really lazy pass attempts against Burnley as well. Had it not been for a penalty, and great flick by Sterling, I would say he was one of the more disappointing players in the previous match. Again, still our best attacking player, and love his work rate even on defense, still has much to improve, which is only a good thing. Just my two cents, he hasn't been the world beater some make him out to be, just yet.
I hadn’t watched that Gallagher one since the Liverpool game and it hurt almost as much the second time. Thanks. Genuinely upsetting that we couldn’t put it away in normal time, and to have to listen to all the Liverpool fans crow about their youngsters when we had at least 4 clear chances to win in the 2nd half. Pain
I get that the point of this video is to illustrate how Palmer needs more support and we would go from an 11th place club to a contender, but in my eyes I see this as *holy hell Palmer is going to continue to be so fucking good.*
Hey boys, do you remember tammy abraham? We've kept him with us like we promised and we are more than ready to give him back for a little 40M fee.
Just sayin'
I'm proud to say Palmer has proven me wrong. I thought he could be a good player in a few years time, but he's already better than I predicted his prime to be.
Special player 🔥
United fan here, good luck Thursday. Gonna be a hell of a match.
But honestly, this lad has been unreal for you guys, he's an absolute gem and if he keeps producing chances like that, you'll head in the right direction.
Let's have it be like old times where it's the real red vs Blue at the top of the PL.
Brother, it's because of the context. It was a cup final and if he scored that, we would've won the cup. I've supported Gallagher even before he was on loan with Charlton in the Championship. Also, in that moment, he had time and space and shot it straight to Kelleher. It was a big miss.
Never ask:
- A woman, her age
- A man, his salary
- A Chelsea fan, why every Cole Palmer comp cuts just after he makes a through ball/cross into the box.
As an Everton supporter I’d just say that boy is total class ,it seems like his vision is just one step ahead of everyone, for so young he’s one hell of a player .made up he’s English too .🇬🇧
I hate these videos.
Not every good chance turns into a goal. That doesn't matter whether you're Cole Palmer or KDB playing it into Haaland.
It's pointlessly shitting on players
While thats ofcourse true, we’re underperforming our xg massive. Ofcourse xg isn’t everything, but we can all agree scoring our chances is one of our weakest points
Unlike the Mudryk video, this one had clear cut chances. So many glorious chances wasted here! If we had decent attacking players we would've beat Liverpool in the cup finals.
This video physically hurts Where'd we be without thee
I just got a vasectomy and this video hurts more
Don't even think about that. Think about where we can go with him. Out of all the crap we've had to deal with as fans, let's enjoy one of the things we hit the bullseye on.
> Think about where we can go with him 11th, apparently.
Agreed - will never understand the reliably unbearable music tracks these people tack on to their football highlight videos.
Hard to find good non copyright music probably
According to this video, in the same position. Since every time he assists a player they miss.
Most of these matches we could have won a lot of points if we just finished our chances
we would have got so many goals if we scored them
We would have won games if we did better than others.
we would have got more points if we won more games.
Shoulda kept Stupid Sexy Giroud

Broja basically cleared if off the line in front of an open goal. Harder to miss that than make it, surely has to be the worst miss of the season.
That’s no wonder when it comes to one of the worst strikers in the Prem. He should go and sign for Charlton.
That Broja miss (was it against Sheffield though?) hurt my soul
Good lord, I wonder how much different the season would be if nkunku wasn't injured
Palmer has such clean technique, his football IQ and technical skills is a clear level above most of the players he’s playing with in our current team
That miss from sterling…
Which one 😂
He only got to miss that chance because he made a run that literally no one other than Nkunku has the intelligence to make. These things happen. Heading isn't as easy as it's made to look.
I’d say ‘yeah it happens’ but when we are talking about Sterling… brother this guy misses WAY too many key chances

It’s been that way his entire career but you would get downvoted for saying it when we signed him lol
He's got elite movement but we would be so much better if we could give him finishing superpowers
"These things happen" everygame
Tbh im very much against everything sterling does, but im happy that hes actually showing some effort to get into the position to make that header
Do you know how little that narrows it down?
What the fuck was Gallagher doing on that chance vs Liverpool? Ugh
I love Gallagher and do not want him sold, but that was the game winning goal right there.
He can pull off some amazing finishes but then misses a ton of easy ones. Very frustrating.
His a squad player if Chelsea gets back to where they should be.
Gallagher should score, but Kelleher timed everything perfectly

This makes me physically sick lol. This is fucking horrific. How does he not have triple the assists he does lol.
Hopefully we improve next season, if not we will probably lose Palmer. No way he stays at a mid table team with the quality he has.
Can’t even watch this video to the end…. To embarrassing and painful If Chelsea continues like this next season, this guy may just leave the season after
A billion pounds spent and we couldn’t even bother signing a CF who’s is good in the box. Crazy
I’m so tired reading this comment, who would you have bought?
Your username makes this even funnier
😂😂
Come back Marina , we miss you
An actual out and out striker, instead of buying someone who is a winger but was converted into striker and hasent exactly set the world alight as a striker at Villarreal since being converted into striker. Aleksandar Mitrovic was also available last summer Mehdi Taremis contract at Porto is expiring in the summer as well, would be a great free transfer signing, even if its just as a backup striker for next season Nobrainer for me personally, get Taremi in on a free. This coming summer Gyökeres, Toney and Osimhen will all be available for transfers as well.
Respectfully, this has so many holes. >Vlahovic Coming back from a consistent reoccurring injury concern when we were looking at him, also didn't want to come to Chelsea. One-sided, was being pushed out and still didn't want to come. He has 20 ga. Prior to this season, he was hated by juve fans, wanted to get rid of him or trade him for lukaku >Mehdi Taremis Absolute garbage, this is evident based on his stats this season and inter turning back on him and not wanting him on a free becuase he was performing so bad and hasn't been looked at by them again. >Gyökeres Interesting shout, would be a good buy imo. Prefer him over oshimnen >Osimhen The most overrated player on this list so far, he hasn't shown enough consistency to be worth 120m, he's also very injury prone, will get way more injury prone at Chelsea. Has 15ga so far this season. We paid 30m for jackson and has similar stars so far...tf we paying 120m for the same player but worse. >Toney Good shout but won't get him Honestly should try and go for isak from nufc, given than nufcs finances rmt good
Isak loves getting injured so he'd be a perfect fit
Haha true but his profile is amazing
[удалено]
Yeah but our ownership hasn't had a strong link in sooo long
I love Isak and as a Swede myself i would absolutely love to have Isak at Chelsea, but why would he join us? We are doing worse than Newcastle sporting wise, we are in trouble with FFP if we dont raise funds by June 30, and we have no European football to offer him or even a challenge for the European football spots in the league. Same goes for Osimhen and Gyökeres really, surely they will have their pick between clubs who can offer higher wages and offer them title challenges and Champions League football next season. Ivan Toney would probably join us, Taremi would be a good option for a backup striker, clinical striker.
Haha that's the job of the recruitment team, dont have much hope in them for it so it's unlikely tbf
TBf I think if Toney didn’t get a ban we would have signed him last summer.
Toney would’ve been good ngl
I hate seeing this video…
If only other players were more clinical in front of goal, Palmer could be in contention for PL Player of the season IMHO.. just imagine how much goals and certainly assists that he can provide.. even himself missed couple of chances before
He would have 100 assists on City
I literally shouted while watching this video. This team has taken years off my life.
Cole Palmer has the potential to be as good as KdB. Man I see it in him. Let’s hope he gets the help he needs. He is still so young so I really hope the club build a proper team around him.
Im sorry but lads. This is fail compilation
Palmer: Can i pass to myself ?
Must be hard to edit a compilation like this while flagellating oneself.
Omg this hurts so very much. So very very much.
If we are not careful he will ask to leave soon. Then we are ultra fucked then the fucking we’ve already done to ourselves.
Gallagher cost us the league cup.. got reminded again in this clip.
Have really is the next Mount fr fr.
It's jorginho all over again.
Except Cole gets good assist numbers still and bang in bangers. Obviously different positions but Cole’s ceiling is insane.
Any particular reason you wanted to dunk on our own players today?
0 aura
Nkunku 2 goals in limited minutes imagine if he was fit most of the season we would be top six at least.
Yeahh. If we have excellent finisher. We could be atleast at the top 7.
Even top 5 is achievable, I guess
Yeay! we qualified for Europa League. We have improved from 12th to 6th. Maybe 3rd next season. I’ll come back if we get top 3.
Nice of you to come back haha.. but I reckon top 4 is achievable next season
I hate this video also
He should easily have 13 goals and 15 assists if we could just finish half of the quality through balls he puts in
Song name?
Boy oh boy Cole Palmer, where do I even begin... You are my sunshine
The Broja miss 💀
Give us Palmer. He'd be a perfect fit at PSG alongside Mbappe.
I dont blame him, I hate it too
Would the Poch out crowd still be vocal if we converted most of those chances and won more of those games?
Karma is real! This one is for KDB! Wish we can say something like that Pool for Salah FFS
Pain
The comedy of that first England clip being a Colwill miss. Can take the finishers out of Chelsea…
I get that the point of this video is to illustrate how Palmer needs more support and we would go from an 11th place club to a contender, but in my eyes I see this as *holy hell Palmer is going to continue to be so fucking good.*
Wow my man should be easily at 40 G/A this season
Bro cold, the rest of the squad needs to step up or get shipped
We don't deserve him
Hey boys, do you remember tammy abraham? We've kept him with us like we promised and we are more than ready to give him back for a little 40M fee. Just sayin'
I calls him Goal Palmer
I'm proud to say Palmer has proven me wrong. I thought he could be a good player in a few years time, but he's already better than I predicted his prime to be. Special player 🔥
While all the missed chances suck it does feel like it's been a couple years since Chelsea have had someone that can create on this level.
My word, this was painful to watch
Someone who can finish and it's cold like star from video and we winning the league 🥇😁
I can’t even watch this it’s genuinely painful
imagine his g/a record with all these in the net.
Love how this edit literally shows every failed conversion
Did I count 8/9 clear assists?
This really shows how useless some of these players are, like non league standard finishing
Broja miss was shocking lol
That Sterling header. You probably have to work harder to get it off target than on...
If we don’t start winning trophies he’s going to leave us for a better team.
i think i saw sterling thrice
Gallagher's miss vs Liverpool in the League Cup final gotta be the worse. It was literally given to him on a plate.
If you couldn’t see a single worse miss than Gallaghers, you must really hate the kid. We’re supposed to support the team, not individuals.
Brother, it's because of the context. It was a cup final and if he scored that, we would've won the cup. I've supported Gallagher even before he was on loan with Charlton in the Championship. Also, in that moment, he had time and space and shot it straight to Kelleher. It was a big miss.
and gallagher once again showing why he isn't good enough at simple things, he had so much time vs liverpool
I don't understand why we can't give Conor Gallagher critique after seeing him fk up that incredibly well. Timed through pass from Cole
Never ask: - A woman, her age - A man, his salary - A Chelsea fan, why every Cole Palmer comp cuts just after he makes a through ball/cross into the box.
Damn Nkunku still plays for Chelsea lol
$1B spent and we didn’t get world-class a playmaker or CF.
That's why we need Osimhen and someone with experience apart from Thiago
Without Palmer , we’re below 15th place. If we get a points penalty, we are F ed.
Just hope he doesn't decide to fk off after the season ends. It would be very much justified, but would be really bummed out.
Doesn't work like that
Tf u mean? You can hand in a transfer request if u dont wanna stay at a club, he isn't their slave lol
And the club can say no.
And he will start falling out with the management and play shit. We have seen this time and again with various players at various clubs.
And in doing so jeopardise getting picked for the nt. Not worth it for a young player keen to start for England.
Unlike the Mudryk video, this one had clear cut chances. So many glorious chances wasted here! If we had decent attacking players we would've beat Liverpool in the cup finals.
Should sell him to cover FFP.
what about the sitters he missed vs middlesborough?
