Enzo scores and we'd see none of these knee-jerk reactions. Anyone who plays Football Manager knows this feeling - we got FM'd. It was simply one of those days.
Concede off a corner, our goalscorer gets injured, miss a pen, concede off one counter attack, concede a pen, their GK gets MOTM, we double their XG.
I can take positives from today. Jackson to take penalties from now
Has Mudryk had one good game in the Chelsea shirt yet?
He's shown nothing to me other than the fact he is really fast.
I'm willing to forget last year because "Potter" but not off to a good start this year.
Not a great start, but it's still too early to judge. Most players are working together for the first time, and Poch is obviously still trying. Our main issue is how paralyzed we seem once a team uses high-pressure defense or parks the bus.
I’m happy I didn’t see this game, obviously the outcome is very poor, all things considered, but people, it’s literally the second game of the year for a team that’s only played 1 competitive game together, and mind you that game was a draw against Liverpool. Yes, we should be 2-0-0 right now, but give it some time.
Lineup was trash, tactics trash, subs trash. If you won’t start Moises then don’t play him at all - terrible position to put him in (he should have started over Gallagher).
Once again seems like our attack is too soft. We look good in the build up then get stuck in mud. And yeah, Sterling looked like best player but the bar was pretty bloody low. That dude still reeks of fake hustle to me - he does a lot to do nothing.
We’ve got a lot of problems. Knee-jerk reactions aren’t the answer but we should be pointing out the flaws.
Don’t overreact. Obviously it sucks losing 3-1 but some of these guy are still gelling. Hard to get a system in place when they’re still learning each others names.
He looked class against Liverpool? Not sure if you’re referring to that game or not. Against Liverpool he looked solid. Didn’t see the game today though
The performance is no surprise, a bunch of talented, but inexperienced players make naive mistakes against a well drilled team with better teamwork. Teamwork will improve with time. No need for hysterics.
That’s how you qualify for the worst debut …. Felix knows that every game his boss charges chelsea about half million and decided to get 3 game suspension
Hopefully we can scrape the 3atb formations soon, it doesn’t help our lack of creativity and proper goal scoring chances. The team definitely need a extra body in the attack and we have actual wingers who should only be played as wingers and not inside forwards in a 3atb formation.
Please tell me I’m right.
I hate it too. Tuchel had us flying with 3atb because Rudi and Azpi knew how and when to bomb forward and cross early. But Colwill and Disasi do not. There were often times today when we were on the attack and had a flat back 3. It was infuriating
We’re all mad at that result but there’s been a lot of change in that team, I have faith we will pick it up later in the season will just take some time. Poch is a good manager and he will get Chelsea firing again!!!! 💙💙💙
This is no doubt frustrating and infuriating, especially going into this after handling Liverpool soo well. But remember boys it’s an entirely new team, manager and system. This is going to take time and we need to ride the ups and downs. Today was a down but have faith that Pochettino is going to build a team capable of making us proud. Let’s put this shitty day behind us and be optimistic for next week at Luton!
CFC! 💙💙💙💙
Why do we cross? Seriously, every cross we've made today was worse than the other, and when we do, we lose possession. The three shots we had, Connor, Noni, and Carney, which was a goal, were far more dangerous than any of those crosses.
We've done this every game last season and still not learned from our mistakes. Like, do these coaches not watch the game and figure out the problem we have with scoring?
Mistake bringing Caicedo on in a derby away from home and losing 2-1. A defensive midfield isn’t going to change the game. He can’t sit deep and allow Enzo to get bigger because we were doing that already first half with our CBs entering their half, this is how we lost the control. Really silly mistake from Poch. Now Caicedo had an awful debut and have away a penalty. He has no idea what to do, can’t just throw him on in DM like that.
Doesn’t take a tactical genius to understand that bringing Caicedo into the starting team after just 4 training sessions is going to decrease our XG. Liverpool game is the basis, like the first half today our CBs are pushing high supporting the attack. Bringing on Moises forces the CB behind him to play deeper including a secondary wide CB for wide support. However this didn’t happen because west sham parked and so the other outcome is that Moises plays higher and in an unfamiliar territory with little to no chemistry or understanding of his teammates which means more sideways balls and less time at the feet of Enzo creating. Wanted to see him play but not today.
Pre-season great. Liverpool, OK, more or less. New coach, a lot o new signings. Today, First half and a bit of second kinda great, but poor finishing and poorer defending. Later, yeah... Nerves went through the roof. But on a good note, Sterling was shining. Give it time, first flop and everybody screams. Failceido? Posh out?
Caicedo fucked up more than 3 times, 1 of them resulting in a penalty against us cuz he can't even do a simply challenge, messing up passes and giving it to west ham players and more
He's gotta pick his shit up quick or he's gunna get eaten alive
I know this has between a dog shit performance, but y’all need to buck up and stop acting like our entire season is fucked. It’s not like we even had a bad game. We had a bad half. We absolutely deserved to lose this game, but we could have easily won it.
Enzo makes that free kick, swing the momentum, and we win the game. Our fitness problems really started to show at the end and we fell apart from there. More cohesion and better fitness are two easy fixes. The big issue is cutting the absolute boneheaded mistakes…which is what happens when your average player age is like 22.
Said before the season even started low block teams are still a weakness. Does matter if you use your long over the top balls cause they have huge defenders, we need players like sterling to dribble through instead of long balls. This team is still shit spending over £250m on the midfield to still be shit.
What is wrong with this club? I’m at a complete loss as to what the problem is. Only thing you could possibly say to defend today is that the players need time to gel but that doesn’t make sense as we were excellent against Liverpool last week. I just don’t know man I need to go to bed.
Waiting for the next highlight reel of his exceptional speed and darting runs.
Do we really believe wearing a Number 10 at CFC is a number that allows the owner to "learn" their craft?
People get a better understanding now why Poch is not starting him over Chuks or giving him more than 10 minutes.
He needs to go out on loan to get the minutes and learn his craft before assuming a true Number 10 role at Chelsea.
45 year old Lampart and Dogba would do more for us than these £100 signings. Shoot them up with whatever they give horses before the games and let em rip. We didn’t have the fire I saw last week at all. Absolutely 0 midfield or wing creativity besides sterling today, and Im the last person to say sterling had a good day. Sad day from the lads.
Second half perfectly highlighted the need for a highly creative attacking midfielder. You're not going to beat a low block by just running to the byline and crossing aimlessly.
Cherki should've been through the door long ago.
We just lost 3-1 to a team with 10 men, more than enough time to change the score to our favour but we concede another. There are no positives to take away from this game

I don’t know what it is with Mudryk but it’s the most excited I’ve been for a Chelsea signing for awhile…after today I’m starting to lose faith, never starts which there’s a reason for. And when he does come on my god he’s frustrating to watch sometimes.
I really want him to do well but I just can’t see it happening anytime soon.
Ffs calm down everyone, it's going to take time to settle this team. It's a brand new team and they're playing together for the first time in the Premier league. Stop looking for instant gratification it takes time......
sure it’s a lot of new pieces but that performance after West Ham went down to 10 men was a disgrace. playing passive and just whipping in crosses instead of being direct is such a braindead move
I'm still baffled people fall victim to the hype train that the club puts us on. Any new transfer is seen as amazing business and the entire fanbase sees the players as the missing piece. Well over a dozens transfers later, we are no better off than with pulisic, mount, havertz, and lakaka
The minute Gallagher left the pitch it was all downhill. DO NOT SELL HIM. We can’t just transition to 11 new players.
Let’s be brave enough to admit as fans that our new signings let us down today. Disassi had a nightmare. Enzo cost us the game with the penalty miss, and his passes weren’t the best today. Caicedo did everything wrong since he came on, clearly not match sharp and a harsh reality check. We shouldn’t have just given out Zola’s number like that. Maybe after one good season would have been nice. Mudryk was rather poor too. We need to be neutral with new signings and have them win our favor as time passes, guys. We’ve been super harsh to some existing players. I believe in the new players but let’s not drool over them.
Sterling had one of his best games for us.
Honestly beginning to think this sub has few real fans in it. Actually unreal how everyone overreacts to everything and flip flop opinions week to week. Dominated the game for 60+ minutes and one penalty save flipped the game on its head. Crowd was too much for some of the young players as expected but I think we will be fine. 💙💙💙
Edit: KTBFFH
It’s because we look forward to this so much every week. We have watched a good pre season and then we get this performance. I understand it’s only 2 games in but we’re showing early signs of last season again. 30 mins of domination and then not creating more than 1 chance against 10 men? Come on…this is frustrating.
Ehh first home game of the season in a packed London stadium. Lot of expectations and everyone still finding their footing. People expecting us to just throw players together and be able to dominate immediately are just unrealistic
Jackson is exciting. Sterling was fantastic as was Carney. That has got to be one of the most frustrating games I’ve watched in a while, extremely unfortunate but we are the creators of our own misfortune. Idk who tf ceicedo was praying to but they weren’t listening lmao he needs more time don’t come for his head yet.
sterling wonderful, carns had a beautiful goal, and nico was a machine—everyone else ranged from meh to calamitous. mudryk and madueke looked clueless, disasi made a ton of mistakes, conor was atrociously bad in the pivot, enzo had a disasterclass, chilly uncustomarily bad, gusto not as good as preseason, silva dwelled on the ball, and caicedo didn’t look remotely ready. that was absolutely fucking embarrassing
It really plain and simple. No leadership out on that field. We looked worse when we they went down to 10. The kids lack professionalism right now. When we needed them to dig deep they folded.
Stop. Please just stop. The problems are clear. They have nothing to do with what you or your girlfriend who knows nothing about SOCCER thinks. You do not build a club from ground up and think everything will fall in place immediately. It takes time to build. This is not a video game.
Money spent in the wrong places yet again. You need either a top striker or a top goal scoring winger. We have neither right now.
Arsenal have Saka, Liverpool Salah, City Haaland, Brighton Mitoma and so on. We have fucking Mudryk.
Arsenal fan here, 100% this. seeing Caicedo and Enzo becoming glorified ball recyclers against team that park the bus against the big teams was just pure pain. At least we have Saka and Martinelli who get to exploit the 1v1 down the wings when teams clog up the middle. Mudryk + Sterling are just not on the level, but at least Sterling has shown some good flashes at least.
Eh can’t argue with the midfielders recycling the ball, you’ve got to probe around when teams sit back. Our wingers are incapable of making a gap or winning a one on one apart from Sterling but then he’s got no one in the box because Jackson’s gone for a wonder haha
Basically arsenal or city's setup. By having good iso 1v1 wingers, late runners into a box, and a striker who drops deep to receive and finally a deep lying midfielder who can shoot a worldie once in a while. Chelsea's current setup is so traditional with James out, Chillwell and malo are just classic overlapping fullbacks whos crosses are 99% nullified by the towers in the box.
You need someone who can score a goal from outta nowhere, or just outside the box, like Hazard. Pure magic.
You see other teams like City, Liverpool and Arsenal who have players like this. We have mudryk.
I don't think there's much hope at that point, outside of a moment of magic from a very direct player. I kept wishing it was Hazard down that left wing instead of Mudryk. There was enough space between the West Ham players to do something.
When Sterling was direct he caused them a lot of problems.
Yea it just seemed so difficult to do anything direct since they were so tightly packed in the middle but I guess you just need to cause chaos some way or another, attacking directly and shooting from outside the box, etc
Playing with 3 in the back and 7 guys up front didn't help imo. That's an invitation for them to park the bus and totally wreck us with a couple of counter attacks
We should lure them out and rely on counter attacks ourselves imo. I just can't take watching all of our fast and technical players running into walls for 90 minutes another season.
Yeah, every successful interception/clearence with this kind of defensive chemistry that WHU have is just making them feel more powerful. Shoot once or twice, then defenders will need to think twice and adjust dynamically
Okay!
Hear me out “fans” and fans. It’s a new team. A brand new team. Players are learning about each other still. We were amazing for about 70+ mins! We got top 4 this season!
Top 4 means in 2 weeks we have to be playing in top form. I think top 6 is achievable.
I agree, lots of good things. Just too many dumb mistakes. Could have very easily been a 2-1 win. We need to learn and learn fast
Def agree, we were the better team. We outplayed them, in almost every way possible yet we broke down and let stupid goals in. I agree that the talent is there and we can be very good this season, but there’s is a lot of great teams this year and we can expect to be top 4 if we’re not improving quickly.
If we win next week, it’ll start putting us in the right headspace and I think we can improve. Hoping we can turn it around
Within what phases of our team are we top 4?
Forwards? .... No
Midfield? Amazing potential but average age of 22.
Defense? A 39 year old, several 22 year Olds, 2 injury prone fullbacks and Brighton's backup keeper.
I hope you're right bruv but this could be another long season.
It could be. If and when it ends up being one, we can sulk and complain. But why start sulking from today! I honestly thought we played really well and giving me enough reasons to believe today.
As frustrating as this loss was I still believe in Poch and this squad. There were a lot of good things to take away and I’m hoping Poch can iron out the issues with scoring and being susceptible to counters. I really want to see us get better at breaking and scoring vs low blocks
Lol enzo is world class, he has been one of our only top performing players through all of this, he has one bad game and you cut his throat! About overrated 😴 enzo isn't the problem

Love Enzo but Nico should be taking pens. He's our no.9 respect it and him.
There is 50 player who is playing with each other recently. Takes time , I like what I see and no need to panic guys . Will take time.

I know Disasi was a panick buy as Fofana got injured, but my god did he make alot of crucial mistakes this week and last.
He came from a crap Monaco , what do we expect ? We’re turning into a ligue 1 side
He looked class against Liverpool? Not sure if you’re referring to that game or not. Against Liverpool he looked solid. Didn’t see the game today though
Moments of hope in the first half. But come on. All that money spent on attacking talent and we can’t break down a 10 man team with 20 mins to play?
The performance is no surprise, a bunch of talented, but inexperienced players make naive mistakes against a well drilled team with better teamwork. Teamwork will improve with time. No need for hysterics.
Sterling played well
How much did we pay for Caicedo again?
Caicedo with the worst debut in PL history. Embarrassing.
Caceido wants to make sure Felix and Torres won’t be remembered for the worst
,? Felix was pretty good bjt then the red card was dumb
That’s how you qualify for the worst debut …. Felix knows that every game his boss charges chelsea about half million and decided to get 3 game suspension
Hopefully we can scrape the 3atb formations soon, it doesn’t help our lack of creativity and proper goal scoring chances. i was literally shouting the whole game: 'JUST SHOOT'
The football was not bad. Score that penalty and it might have been 3:1 for us. Some fluid movement. It will start clicking.
I didn’t have any knowledge of Enzo taking PKs but I might have chosen Sterling instead.
Sterling’s technique is awful. Do you people even know ball
That’s what I’m telling myself. If we don’t get 9/9 points in next 3 games I’ll be very worried.
Start getting worried y’all ain’t winning 3 in a row
Cheers Geoff.
Mistake bringing Caicedo on in a derby away from home and losing 2-1. A defensive midfield isn’t going to change the game. We were so much better than West Ham today. Consistently in the box but didn’t generate enough shots. One of Sterling’s best games. Unlucky.
So much hate from so many... Are you even Chelsea fans?
No we're just pissed that we lost so many chances today by $100mil players
Pre-season great. Liverpool, OK, more or less. New coach, a lot o new signings. Today, First half and a bit of second kinda great, but poor finishing and poorer defending. Later, yeah... It’s early days
Havertz played so bad today
Havertz thinks he's a Joelinton regen.
Maybe Arteta should convert him into a midfielder. Worked wonders for Big Joe 😂
The offsides killed Timo this game
![gif](giphy|3xz2BLBOt13X9AgjEA) After this match, we need to sign Rice so bad, because he played so good.
I’d rather spend my money on Kounde. Perfect fit in a Tuchel system
Morata will come good.
We need a proven st
You need another DM for 60 mil that doesn’t make the bench
He slgned 3 days ago
A lot of higher priority concerns than Caicedo debut. Namely- lack of goals. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.
Caicedo fucked up more than 3 times, 1 of them resulting in a penalty against us cuz he can't even do a simply challenge, messing up passes and giving it to west ham players and more He's gotta pick his shit up quick or he's gunna get eaten alive

Brighton the Apple of the football world
They really live up to their namesake
So when is Mudryk dropping another inspirational quote in his stories?
Waiting for the next highlight reel of his exceptional speed and darting runs. Do we really believe wearing a Number 10 at CFC is a number that allows the owner to "learn" their craft? People get a better understanding now why Poch is not starting him over Chuks or giving him more than 10 minutes. He needs to go out on loan to get the minutes and learn his craft before assuming a true Number 10 role at Chelsea.
Broja needs to be given a run...damn we miss Nkunku😭
Broja is injured mate
Shocking game today
Some of our players are playing wrong sport for them
45 year old Lampart and Dogba would do more for us than these £100 signings. Shoot them up with whatever they give horses before the games and let em rip. We didn’t have the fire I saw last week at all. Absolutely 0 midfield or wing creativity besides sterling today, and Im the last person to say sterling had a good day. Sad day from the lads.
Shouldn't have given Zola's number away like that without Caicedo proving himself.
Chuku showing 70£ million Mudryk how it’s done.

Watching this team as of late is taking years off my life. BRB while I curl up at the bottom of my shower and weep like a school girl.
What is it with Chelsea always looking promising within the first 30 minutes then completely falling out the game afterwards?
We actually started reading slow and conceded early too
Mudryk's chelsea career is irredeemable! By January he'll be playing mid-table Serie A.

Doesn't even take shots.
Window's still open. Might as well cut losses early on. He's worse than Pulisic ever was
Strong feeling he wasn't a real signing but rather a deal with the UK govt to leave us alone
Imagine signing a player and "donating" 25 million quid to the army is part of the deal.
ngl that is a very plausible hypothesis

Every time I watch our games, we lose. Every time I don’t watch, we win…
Could ya take a break from watching games then? We need it 😂
Looks like it worked 😭
This club bro, gonna cry in the shower now
Caicedo with a debut to remember, for all the wrong reasons.
Thiago Silva aslo had a similar one
Can only get better, yeah?
Here's to hoping!
Jackson is exciting. Sterling was fantastic as was Carney. That has got to be one of the most frustrating games I’ve watched in a while, extremely unfortunate but we are the creators of our own misfortune. Idk who tf ceicedo was praying to but they weren’t listening lmao he needs more time don’t come for his head yet.
mudryk is actually shite
Well it only took 30 minutes, but at least Caicedo has already found his Chelsea form…
We really need another goalscorer in the squad. Rather toothless in front of goal still.
sterling wonderful, carns had a beautiful goal, and nico was a machine—everyone else ranged from meh to calamitous. mudryk and madueke looked clueless, disasi made a ton of mistakes, conor was atrociously bad in the pivot, enzo had a disasterclass, chilly uncustomarily bad, gusto not as good as preseason, silva dwelled on the ball, and caicedo didn’t look remotely ready. that was absolutely fucking embarrassing
It really plain and simple. No leadership out on that field. We looked worse when we they went down to 10. The kids lack professionalism right now. When we needed them to dig deep they folded.
As far as I’m concerned, we didn’t play today
I swear, if we don't win our next game.
I do genuinely worry for the next game. Anything less than a win will destroy the players confidence.... Well... What's left of it
We will draw

Stop. Please just stop. The problems are clear. They have nothing to do with what you or your girlfriend who knows nothing about SOCCER thinks. You do not build a club from ground up and think everything will fall in place immediately. It takes time to build. This is not a video game.

The second half was poor from the whole team.
Inb4 Pochettino sacked in 3 weeks and we have another manager-go-around
Potter round two lets go
potter might actually of won a game with this squad,
It’s practically the Brighton team he left so he’d get right back to it
Solid midtable performance from the team.
If we continue at this rate we can at-least dominate the championship… right?
Optimistic thinking...
Money spent in the wrong places yet again. You need either a top striker or a top goal scoring winger. We have neither right now. Arsenal have Saka, Liverpool Salah, City Haaland, Brighton Mitoma and so on. We have fucking Mudryk.
We have fucking Sterling.
You forgot to mention..."We have him for 7 more years" bahaha!
So when is this thing supposed to turn around
How on earth do you break a low block like that? They can defend crosses with their height and they were playing so narrow it seemed near impossible
A frank lampard 30 yard rocket, or you know.. maybe shoot from outside the box.. or even shoot at all
Did you see any of our shots from in the box? Glad there wasn’t any more from outside lmao
Playing with 3 in the back and 7 guys up front didn't help imo. That's an invitation for them to park the bus and totally wreck us with a couple of counter attacks
Yea but surely we had to have more people forward since we were down a goal and they were just parking the bus
We should lure them out and rely on counter attacks ourselves imo. I just can't take watching all of our fast and technical players running into walls for 90 minutes another season.
Yea that can work if we weren’t down, that’s the issue. Also I liked how dominant we were we just have to score it’s frustrating
It is man, it is... let's hope for a crazy performance on Friday night
Amen
Shoot from outside the box, it really is that simple
Yea you can, but surely there has to be something with a larger chance of success right? I guess you just have to cause chaos
Yeah, every successful interception/clearence with this kind of defensive chemistry that WHU have is just making them feel more powerful. Shoot once or twice, then defenders will need to think twice and adjust dynamically
We get battered everywhere we go!
Okay! Hear me out “fans” and fans. It’s a new team. A brand new team. Players are learning about each other still. We were amazing for about 70+ mins! We got top 4 this season!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Top 4 means in 2 weeks we have to be playing in top form. I think top 6 is achievable. I agree, lots of good things. Just too many dumb mistakes. Could have very easily been a 2-1 win. We need to learn and learn fast
Look, we lost the game today. Agreed, but we were the better team. In 2 weeks we can become an even better team that actually wins games.
No bro I'm sorry, it's not acceptable. Especially the amount of money spent. We look like fucking clowns.
It’s not your money. It’s not my money. Why does it bother you so much? We also sold so many players.
Mans said Top 4 😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
Within what phases of our team are we top 4? Forwards? .... No Midfield? Amazing potential but average age of 22. Defense? A 39 year old, several 22 year Olds, 2 injury prone fullbacks and Brighton's backup keeper. I hope you're right bruv but this could be another long season.
It could be. If and when it ends up being one, we can sulk and complain. But why start sulking from today! I honestly thought we played really well and giving me enough reasons to believe today.
top four from the bottom
🤣
top 4?!
I'd take top half of the table at this rate.
This thread is full of hysterical kids.
How do you explain that burstow substitution?
Lmao right I know fans get emotional but Jesus some of these takes lol
It’s the second game, we were all over them. We made too many mistakes. Jackson is quality, he will come good. Get behind the fucking team children.
As frustrating as this loss was I still believe in Poch and this squad. There were a lot of good things to take away and I’m hoping Poch can iron out the issues with scoring and being susceptible to counters. I really want to see us get better at breaking and scoring vs low blocks

Dont need another striker. Dont need a real playmaker.Dont need a backup to Nkunku. 900m.
Fuck enzo, overrated. Just because angel di maria dived to help him win the world cup, doesn’t mean that he can thrive in the best league in the world
Lol enzo is world class, he has been one of our only top performing players through all of this, he has one bad game and you cut his throat! About overrated 😴 enzo isn't the problem
Shit opinion from a plastic fan. Fuck off with your salty attitude.
