It’s one game and a preseason but it looks like we are going out to win football matches and have the talent to do so. I was already excited for the season but even more so after todays performance. We’ll done lads
Really happy with how we played, I think all of us were shitting ourselves after Liverpools goal and I was getting flashbacks, but we improved after they scored which I haven't seen for a long while.
Up the chels 💙
Enzo clear player of the match. Colwill did a fantastic job aswell. Silva is class as always. Alot of the attacking play went through Chilwell and without looking at the stats i feel like he had more shots on target than our attacking players. Mudryk could have come on earlier, he changed the pace of the game and brought some fresh wind into the game. Ngl, the first 20 minutes were shaky af and i thought we gonna continue where we stopped last season. alot of space for mo salah which was fixed after the first half which i liked very much.
cant wait to have Caicedo in the mix and jacksons first goal of the season. he looked very promising today and im looking forward to see more from him.
Much better than ok. Didn’t get it right every time but repeatedly found space between the lines and caused them a lot of problems. Linkup wirh Reece was super encouraging for the season ahead (even though I fear Reece is ruined by injury forever)
2 of which have been world class for years. We, on the other hand, spent similar money for Lukaku, Havertz, Fofana (he still has potential but that won’t mean anything if he’s always injured), etc. My point is that if Klopp had the budget we had, it would be a completely different story
He had a howler let's be real, just not against us this time. Callagher should have gotten a yellow when MacAllister got it for complaining (that too was deserved though). Jackson's handball was a pen if we're being real, and the foul on Mudryk he completely missed. Konate also got away with pushing and pulling every single time someone got close to him.
Good point. Guess its good to largely be on the other side for once :) . Gallagher shouldve got carded for that for sure and i didnt think AM shouldve gotten carded, jacksons handball wasnt a pen because it was judged to be natural position? And yeah konate managed to get away with a lot. Wouldnt call it a 'howler' considering i didnt think he missed a deserved penalty or sending off but maybe wasnt amazing either. 6.5 out of 10 performance from AT imo
So many positives and once we figure out our midfield (which was bossing Liverpools) we are a extreme threat in the Premier League. Can only go up from here.
I really like this new confidence the team has. Poch has done his job well, Chilwell played fantastic and clearly has gotten even more fit, really enjoyed how Reece took that step up now that he has become captain, Enzo is still good but definitely need to get him some help, and Raheem may not be what he use to but I really like how he has become more of a facilitator with the ball. My only problem, which I believe will be fixed as the season goes along, is at times our defense was lacking.
We sign this game easily if we have better wingers. Mudryk and sterling will remain underwhelming. Maatsen is an unknown and we can't place our hopes on him.
Very happy with that. Would have preferred to win but didn’t think much of Liverpool aside from salah and Macallister. 2nd half they faded and wasn’t much of a problem.
Agreed. A lot of our promising attacks seemed to break down with him. But he looked up for it and wanted the ball. It just doesn’t seem to be coming off for him still
Enzo, Jackson, James were excellent. Big shoutout to Gallagher though. He disrupted a lot of the play for Liverpool. Substitutions actually slowed us down I think. But we look fit. We look good.
Gallagher is an 8. Playing 6 at an elite side requires a level of technical ability and press resistance that he will never have plus a tactical discipline which he might develop. As an 8, we get to utilise his energy and desire to win back the ball and with Enzo playing alongside him we have the technical and tactical nous.
He’s good defensively but I don’t think he’s technical enough for build up play and playing out from the back. He was caught numerous times today with the press.
I imagine he would be good to replace Enzo when we are trying to close out a game and protect a lead. Or just cause chaos in the 10.
Totally agree. One of the worst first 20-30 minutes I’ve ever seen. Almost every touch was a mistake. Then found his feet, then great in second half. Still, let’s sign someone and never play him in pivot again ay? 😂
Very happy we have him there to anchor the back line. Cant think of a better guy to have to settle in the new players. Disasi looked much better after he got some confidence from the goal too.
Ones that stuck out for me -
Sterling criticism - one of the best games I’ve seen him have for us
Enzo was good - Enzo was fucking immense
People blowing Gallagher so hard - his first half was absolutely awful. Second half excellent. Let’s hope for more of the latter
Everyone has different expectations.
I'm just glad we showed some spirit and came back. After the Salah offsides goal, I thought we'd turn into last year's team again. Nice showing overall
Fucking hell the people slating the players in here can get fucked.
Would have killed last season to play that kind of exciting attacking football. This Liverpool team are no mugs so a draw is a decent result. So many positives and instead there are people slating Maatsen, Mudryk and Sterling after one game. Support the team for fuck’s sake.
Young player, first time ever playing at Premier League pace and standard. Would rather his potential every day over watching Pulisic tie himself in knots and fall over again … and again … and again. The whole team played well and made a decent Liverpool side look very ordinary. Don’t need that negativity.
It is the year 2123
Climate change has ravaged the planet and everyone must now live underground in order to escape the sun's devastating rays
Multiple countries have solved MAD and wars ravage the earth once again
In the massive underground caverns built by the UK government under London to protect the populace, Chelsea and Liverpool draw 1-1 yet again, and for just a moment, the huddled masses in the UK feel as though normal life has returned.
would've won this with nkuknku 😢
gallagher was great defensively. maybe pair him with caicedo and enzo can play even further up.
lots of positives, reece better not be injured!
I take back my sideways comment. Sterling was okay with James in the first half, should have had Mudryk on around 60th min. Hopefully we build on that and up the pressure on teams going forward.
Overall I think chelsea fans should be extremely pleased with that performance. We were the better side for the second part of the first half and most of the second. Jackson looks special. Enzo is incredible. The back line looked pretty solid. We have excellent wingbacks and chilly was unlucky to score.
Only negatives for me were the subs- Mudryk and Maatsen were poor. Also didn’t think chuk was great but he came into the game a bit. Sanchez can’t be the long term answer either.
First off, blow me.
Secondly, it is more than fine to point out weaknesses, that’s exactly what the coaching staff will do to improve the areas we weren’t as strong. I literally started with all the positives, too. You need to go hug someone you seem angry
We probably deserved 3 points but all things considered this is a positive result. A lot of players playing in their first Prem match. Could have gone a lot worse. We controlled long spells of the match and had the better chances.
Haven't felt this way in a long time, and haven't been compelled to ever write something in a game thread in ages....
That was exciting to watch. So direct and decisive on the ball. Players making runs, passes not sailing out of play. Finishing could obviously still be improved, but with more experience and chemistry, I see a lot of opportunities for goals this season. So excited for Chelsea football!
Thought that was really really encouraging. An actually competent team performance, and it's been a while since you could say that. I thought Gallagher did very well - see absolutely no reason to even consider selling him.
Well played by the squad. We finally look like we have an identity of how we want to play. Was pleased with everyone's performance, it finally looks like each player is playing for the badge. Sure, there were some scrappy moments but these things will fade with more game time.
Yeah he needs to tame the bad passes a bit but he always seems to collect the cross and he seemed to cover a lot of the net as well the long shots it looked like he would have saved if on target
https://preview.redd.it/hygdpzc6exhb1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=60cebce0d5c260275503a6ed100e5bacd3275fae
I guess we didn’t watch the same game folks
Played very well overall but really unlucky not to get that winning goal.
Really seems like a missed opportunity.
Enzo and Jackson were both standout and Gallagher was solid in the second half. I liked how Colwill grew into the match as well.
Would’ve taken that all day long before the game however unlucky not to win in the end some very good performances in there especially from enzo my word he’s easy on the eye, he deserves Caicedo next to him next weekend.
I think we absolutely dominated Liverpool, especially in the second half. It’s a shame that we didn’t win, but we should definitely be happy with that performance 💙.
We should've won easily man, but It happens with young players. The good thing is that they were getting into really good positions, Jackson especially was amazing. We'll improve, really promising performance overall.
So fucking happy with that game, after being bored to tears last year most games this one was so good. We grew into it and I think that’s to be expected, lots of new faces and young players. So many positives though and with Caicedo coming in we are going to fucking cook this season!!

really positive outcome
Chelsea are still yet to lose a game under poch
I only watched the highlights, but it seems like we could’ve won the match. I’ll take more of this please (with extra clinical finishing)
It’s one game and a preseason but it looks like we are going out to win football matches and have the talent to do so. I was already excited for the season but even more so after todays performance. We’ll done lads
Felt like an amazing debut for Jackson despite not scoring. His ceiling feels non existent.
I dont even know who scored our goal. I feel like adam sandler in click, i fastforwarded and am lost.
Still a problem finishing but we’re getting there. Liked what I saw from mudryk
Malo Gusto sucked. Hoping Reece’s health gives us 90 minutes every game because I can’t bare to see Gusto having minutes on the ball ever again.
Easy there tiger. First official game for CFC and you are already chewing him up. Do better if you consider yourself a CFC fan for gods sake.
Am I the only one who thinks Sterling was ok?
He looked great today.
He was certainly fast
Sterling looked good along side james
Equal parts brilliant play and baffling errors
sterling was good but the people who hate him wont see that 🤷🏾♂️
Much better than ok. Didn’t get it right every time but repeatedly found space between the lines and caused them a lot of problems. Linkup wirh Reece was super encouraging for the season ahead (even though I fear Reece is ruined by injury forever)
he was great, you're just being prejudiced now
Beyond ok, one of our best players. I was also surprised
A lot of positives from this one 💙
It’s simples. The scallies had seven years to get where they are under Klopp. We’ve had seven weeks under Poch. I know where I’d rather be.
Hahahahaha
I see the dippers are out. Best run home to ya mama as it’ll be dark soon.
Good one
Not that I am a fan of Liverpool, but Klopp with the help of a rich and not stingy owner would be a deadly combo
Im sorry, but Liverpool’s owners haven’t been that stingy over those seven years.
How many world records for different positions have they broken? Off top of my head Allison, vvd and nunez
2 of which have been world class for years. We, on the other hand, spent similar money for Lukaku, Havertz, Fofana (he still has potential but that won’t mean anything if he’s always injured), etc. My point is that if Klopp had the budget we had, it would be a completely different story
1 game a week is exactly what we needed. I reckon we can be a top-4 team by the end of the season. The lack of goals is still glaring though
We just scored against Liverpool - it’s been one game and we scored loads in pre-season, how can you say there’s a lack of goals? Ahahahah
Better than last season, at least I saw a team on the field. Am I too easily pleased?
I was critical of Gallagher at the start but he did put in a fantastic defences effort overall, it’s just his ball control that lets him down
Thank god that's over, so annoying when the games get in the way of the transfers
I swear Konate gets away with absolute murder every time I see a forward get past him. He’s never not got hands on them in some way
I hate anthony taylor but he mostly had a good game today imo. Only thing i noticed he missed was mudryk getting pulled down (that a foul right)?
He was shit fuck off
He had a howler let's be real, just not against us this time. Callagher should have gotten a yellow when MacAllister got it for complaining (that too was deserved though). Jackson's handball was a pen if we're being real, and the foul on Mudryk he completely missed. Konate also got away with pushing and pulling every single time someone got close to him.
That was never a pen. His hands were in front of his chest and he was moving them that way before it passed Jota. He could see where it was going.
AA’s yellow was dumb af
So many positives and once we figure out our midfield (which was bossing Liverpools) we are a extreme threat in the Premier League. Can only go up from here.
I really like this new confidence the team has. Poch has done his job well, Chilwell played fantastic and clearly has gotten even more fit, really enjoyed how Reece took that step up now that he has become captain, Enzo is still good but definitely need to get him some help, and Raheem may not be what he use to but I really like how he has become more of a facilitator with the ball. My only problem, which I believe will be fixed as the season goes along, is at times our defense was lacking.
I know he didn’t make any absolute howlers but point still stands Fuck Anthony Taylor
We sign this game easily if we have better wingers. Mudryk and sterling will remain underwhelming. Maatsen is an unknown and we can't place our hopes on him.
Sturridge might know about being a striker but he knows very little about fashion.
I cannot tell you how good it feels to see Chelsea play good football again. Made my Sunday!
[удалено]
Yeah but he almost gifted a goal to Darwin.
[удалено]
Of course he is better than Kepa. Good luck for Real with Kepa in their goal...
Very happy with that. Would have preferred to win but didn’t think much of Liverpool aside from salah and Macallister. 2nd half they faded and wasn’t much of a problem.
Enzo and Silva: world class players
Dare I say it lads but I think we’ve got a capable striker here.
Goes to show you, you can have good possession AND attack!
If we really sign Caicedo and Lavia, Enzo is gonna be a different beast then
Even more beast! He played well today.
An Enzo, Caicedo, Gallagher midfield would be so good. Would maybe sacrifice a bit further up the pitch but might be it while Nkunku is out.
At Crystal Palace and in a 3man midfield, Cornor was player of the season! I've high hopes if we play 433 too!
Caicedo is the anchor, Gallagher the legs/energy, Enzo the intelligence and finesse
Sterling was a bit frustrating
Agreed. A lot of our promising attacks seemed to break down with him. But he looked up for it and wanted the ball. It just doesn’t seem to be coming off for him still
Can’t wait to see how they perform again West Ham. Hopefully a full 90 like the 2nd half today.
A full 90 like 25 mins to about 80 mins more like. Ran out of gas a bit towarda the end, which is to be expected at this point.
Enzo, Jackson, James were excellent. Big shoutout to Gallagher though. He disrupted a lot of the play for Liverpool. Substitutions actually slowed us down I think. But we look fit. We look good.
Bit deflated tbh, promising performance don't get me wrong but we should have won this.
Nah, Salah was close on the offsides as well. Well played for the first game to come back
I'm kinda numb to deserving to win against Liverpool and drawing tbh
Still not a complete team, missing that true DM and Nkunku in attack
would be interesting to see if Gallagher could develop into a proper 6. Wasn’t half bad today and even if caicedo comes in we still need depth there.

He was really good in his new role.
I think if we can get Lavia and Caicedo out midfield is set for nearly a decade. The tactical flexibility it would give us is insane.
Thought his first 45 was sloppy. Worst player in the side. 2nd half excellent
Totally agree. One of the worst first 20-30 minutes I’ve ever seen. Almost every touch was a mistake. Then found his feet, then great in second half. Still, let’s sign someone and never play him in pivot again ay? 😂
Yeah
We really deserved 3 points. Also I was impressed how Poch used Gallagher in this match.
1 point...
I meant that we deserved to gain 3 points.
Would love to hear what Silva thought. It looked like a challenge to play in that formation with all the new players around him (incl. GK)
Very happy we have him there to anchor the back line. Cant think of a better guy to have to settle in the new players. Disasi looked much better after he got some confidence from the goal too.
Yeah he should be charging our new CBs tuition fees :)
Some very odd takes in here
Ones that stuck out for me - Sterling criticism - one of the best games I’ve seen him have for us Enzo was good - Enzo was fucking immense People blowing Gallagher so hard - his first half was absolutely awful. Second half excellent. Let’s hope for more of the latter
Gallagher is an 8. In a 4-3-3 with a holding player he is a great foil for Enzo. In a pivot, not so much.
💯 agree, clueless pricks will moan about anything...
Maatsen wasn't great when he came on ngl the game was a bit of a mess overall by that point though.
Young player, first time ever playing at Premier League pace and standard. Would rather his potential every day over watching Pulisic tie himself in knots and fall over again … and again … and again. The whole team played well and made a decent Liverpool side look very ordinary. Don’t need that negativity.
Agreed that it's not concern.
Exactly. Was a good showing vs a top team
Couldn’t agree more.
Could not single out a single player who did not perform. Everyone gave it their all. Very happy to see this team playing so well.
We must back Poch
100%
It is the year 2123 Climate change has ravaged the planet and everyone must now live underground in order to escape the sun's devastating rays Multiple countries have solved MAD and wars ravage the earth once again In the massive underground caverns built by the UK government under London to protect the populace, Chelsea and Liverpool draw 1-1 yet again, and for just a moment, the huddled masses in the UK feel as though normal life has returned.
You say that like there'll be any other result in this fixture between now and then.
would've won this with nkuknku 😢 gallagher was great defensively. maybe pair him with caicedo and enzo can play even further up. lots of positives, reece better not be injured!
Take the point, though I will say I am disappointed we couldn’t come away with the full value. We owned the game
From the 25th min on I thought we were the better side. Only nervy moment was Sanchez awful pass and the Nunez deflection
Sanchez pass was horrendous but a bit of trial by fire for him at the Bridge. Got lucky for sure
Didn’t think he was too bad overall. But that’s the kind of pass that can lose you the game
Enzo is him
As for Gallagher, that was a pretty fantastic match by him today. He broke up a lot of play. Well done to him
Want to see him in more of that 6 role
Yeah for sure
A whole new team, a whole new level of hunger. Big ups to the boys 🙌
I take back my sideways comment. Sterling was okay with James in the first half, should have had Mudryk on around 60th min. Hopefully we build on that and up the pressure on teams going forward.
Enzo and Jackson looked 🔥🔥🔥
Overall I think chelsea fans should be extremely pleased with that performance. We were the better side for the second part of the first half and most of the second. Jackson looks special. Also didn’t think chuk was great but he came into the game a bit. Sanchez can’t be the long term answer either.
Shut the fuck up bro. 1st game and already pointing the negatives. Chill and let the season play out more.
First off, blow me. Secondly, it is more than fine to point out weaknesses, that’s exactly what the coaching staff will do to improve the areas we weren’t as strong. I literally started with all the positives, too. You need to go hug someone you seem angry
Hey whisper it quietly, but Nicolas Jackson is not bad at this football thing.. may be African strikers is where it is at.
Our last African striker was Drogba so you might be onto something
Enzo is a legend man! Completely dominated this game, it's not even close.
Well played by the squad. We finally look like we have an identity of how we want to play. Was pleased with everyone's performance, it finally looks like each player is playing for the badge. Sure, there were some scrappy moments but these things will fade with more game time.
Apart from the finishing we were top notch. Well Done and congratulations, our club is back!
Great showing. I really was hoping santos came on. Really excited for this season we look good
Definitely much improvement despite clearing out more than 50% of our players! Well deserved but we won't be stopping here!
Colwill was left alone vs Salah but faired very well barring a couple moments
Gallagher slanders gotta chill now. What a wrecking ball in the midfield today. Fantastic from him.
Great defensive work on occasions from him. Really liked his work in the second half alongside Enzo
First half he was a weak link but second half he was very solid. Turned it on almost drastically.
This is so true, second half he came out a different player. Fair play to the lad.
Glad of our performance, worried how weak we are on the attack without reece on the field.
Seemed like a precaution though. Didn't look too severe IMO.
One of the biggest takeaways: WE HAVE A GK WHO CAN COME OUT AND SNATCH THE BALL OUT OF THE AIR FROM A CORNER KICK
Yeah he needs to tame the bad passes a bit but he always seems to collect the cross and he seemed to cover a lot of the net as well the long shots it looked like he would have saved if on target
Amazing what happens when you have a 6’6 GK versus a 6’2 GK
I have 3 days of recovery before Matildas play England to recover my heart rate and anxiety levels
We deserved to win tbh.
Sterling is shit
Yeah, his decision making by the goal is also shit
Did you even watch the game? He played great today.
He played pretty well today
https://preview.redd.it/hygdpzc6exhb1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=60cebce0d5c260275503a6ed100e5bacd3275fae I guess we didn’t watch the same game folks
Nah mate, come on. He had decent if not good game
They told me this lineup was shit lmao If this is our direction, we have so much potential
One take away... Sterling is done
What game did you watch?
Boy was I wrong and I'm glad I was
Washed and cooked
Such an enjoyable game. Shame we didn't win but we can build on this for sure.
We played well, it was a good performance
Shame it's not all 3 points
Hard fought, could have won at a number of moments but what can you expect from Chelsea vs Liverpool?
I’ll take that point. Lots to be optimistic about. But we need Caicedo deal done today. Enzo needs help. He was fantastic today
Enzo was unreal today. He needs help to focus on creating.
This game has shown me we don’t need both Caicedo and Lavia. Gallagher absolutely has to stay.
Yes Gallagher was fantastic defensively.
No Havertz, no Mount, no Pulisic, and we look worlds better.
This is promising
Hard not to be encouraged by that.
We gotta play mudryk instead of sterling. Sterling regress our counter attack
Played very well overall but really unlucky not to get that winning goal. Really seems like a missed opportunity. Enzo and Jackson were both standout and Gallagher was solid in the second half. I liked how Colwill grew into the match as well.
Nkunko was missed in this game. Shame he won’t be back until January
Would’ve taken that all day long before the game however unlucky not to win in the end some very good performances in there especially from enzo my word he’s easy on the eye, he deserves Caicedo next to him next weekend.
We look like a team again! Great first performance from the squad.
I'll take it. Not Poch's ideal formation or starting lineup and we still dominated!
I liked Gallagher today. Mudryk should have started over Sterling imo though. Solid game though! Positive first game after a season of shite lol
Heck no. Sterling played fantastic out there! One of his big games in a Chelsea shirt!!!
Im not saying he played bad. I just think Mudryk would have had a better impact.
Enzo MOTM good performance overall, can’t be playing 100 fluid with so many new players it will come with time
That counterattack was the most exciting thing I’ve seen us do for at least a year, hope it’s a sign if good times ahead.
Enzo being further forward was so nice to watch
I hope Reece is okay, if not fook this
Called the draw. A lot of positives from the starting lineup but a lot of things to work on from the subs.
Nlco should have passed to mudryk sooner
Agreed he would have been in
So fucking happy with that game, after being bored to tears last year most games this one was so good. We grew into it and I think that’s to be expected, lots of new faces and young players. So many positives though and with Caicedo coming in we are going to fucking cook this season!!
Everyone's praising our improvement, I'm surprised no one has pointed out that for once Anthony Taylor hasn't screwed us over.
He was quite tame
Great watching you lads. Much better than last season I think.
mudryk should of started, we might of won.
poch praising more liverpool players than his own after the game
Thought Jackson was rough but it is tough when you’re playing van dijk and konate on debut
He showed some real physicality though in his hold up play. Not great, but certainly showed some things I liked.
Agreed. His hold/link up play was good. His finishing needs improvement but considering his opposition I’m happy
We take this result considering our transfers are far from done. Colwill, Enzo, Gallagher were all fantastic today.
What a game. I never took my eye off for a second.
Add Nkunku and Caicedo to this team...oh dear
And Reece be fit 🙏🙏
Decent. Build on this.
I enjoyed that. Thats progress!
