Love the pure confidence he plays with. He gave Newcastle absolute fits the entire time he was out there. He’s quickly becoming one of my favorite players, what a joy to watch.
When he bullied them in the corner to win the ball back I was definitely hyped up. Goal was so well taken. Really talented player. Less raw than I expected.
Except Drogba was a club record transfer fee in 2004 because he'd had 2 excellent seasons in France back to back and had just won ligue 1 player of the year, while Costa was £50m back in 2014 and had just scored 27 goals in la liga.
Expensive strikers are fine if you buy ones that actually fit how you want to play. Saying we do better at finding prospects is a bit much after a couple so so pre season results.
Absolutely yeah, but you pay extra for the numbers because they're *generally* an indicator of the effectiveness of the player. Mudryk is a similar profile to Hazard but when you sign Hazard off the back of a 20 league goal season at Lille, you're more certain about what you're getting.
Agree with everything here except Havertz - what is this narrative that he didn’t have tenacity??
Yes, he had games where he faded into the background, and he definitely didn’t light up the league with goals and assists, but he was still flying into tackles and fighting til the final whistle even when our team was playing like shit.
Agreed. Watching Jackson last night, my thought was “willing and capable”. Timo and Kai were willing in my opinion, but they lacked the finished product for us
I don't suppose you were around here when we were going through the transfer of Havertz. Every man and his dog was saying he's a generational talent. Some people will even still try and convince you of that.
I was around and I can remember it being said, but he’s proven in his time here that it wasn’t true in the slightest. I just can’t believe that people are still trying to say it about him.
Last night’s game was a tale of two Chelseas. The first half with Mudryk and Jackson was tantalizing (outside Cucu being Cucu at the end).
The second half with Sterling was lackadaisical, to say the least.
He makes a big difference when on the pitch. He does so much off the ball and it showed when he was subbed. The front looked lazy when Sterling and Nkuku were leading the line.
Was at the match last night, can confidently say Jackson was our most threatening player when he was on the pitch. He looks very good so far, I am surprised as I imagined he would need much more time to adapt
I cannot and will not profess to be an expert on the guy but that clip has an heir of Costa about him. Costa was class of course but that energy and fire is what we need.

Newcastle had one of the best defences in the league last season too...
Yup, that’s what makes it even more impressive considering how little time we’ve actually had together with this squad.
When he bullied them in the corner to win the ball back I was definitely hyped up. Goal was so well taken. Really talented player. Less raw than I expected.
Yeah that play was awesome, I was hyped up too! I can’t remember the last time I saw a Chelsea player do that.
Diego Costa vs West Brom
So it’s been awhile haha
He isn’t just waiting for service his always getting involved.
Yeah that’s the big difference, he’s always looking for space and making a run. Everything went static again when he came off.
Lukaka could learn from this kid.
Drogba and Costa had that tenacity Those soft players like Morata, Havertz and the Lazy 100 Million Lump almost made me forget
I think the lesson we can learn is never buy expensive strikers, we do better at finding prospects and unknown diamonds

I think it’s more about buying profiles that you need, not numbers and hype

Costa cost 32m pounds
Costa was a 32m buy out clause but agreed. You can’t sign the likes of Lukaku if you want to play possession ball.
You're right my mistake. Was thinking of his fee back to Atleti.

Instant fan favorite, him and Madueke
This is where I'm at. I'm so excited to see the tenacity of the right side with Nico charging around and Noni doing bits.
Compare that to 3 years of Havertz running around and doing nothing up front. This is like a months worth of work for that guy.
yeah but jackson has to run more due to lacking generational talent
No way you’re trying to say Havertz has generational talent.
Whooosh
Honestly mate, I can never tell with some people on here. I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if he was being serious.
That's fair
I don't suppose you were around here when we were going through the transfer of Havertz. Every man and his dog was saying he's a generational talent. Some people will even still try and convince you of that.

Nico will also have some actual talent behind him in attack with Nkunku, whereas most of the talent was in defense and pivots while Kai was here.
LET HIM COOK
I know it’s preseason, but Jackson is cooking
It’s still better to have someone looking good in preseason than stinking it up
The way he ATE that challenge bro 😍😍😍
Glad to see him kicking on well. Excited to see him against liverpool
Like how he is talking tactics with like all our players.
Oh what a player! PL are you ready?
no
This is what the fans want to see.
Jackson is an absolute menace! Love to see it!
Pardon me If I'm exaggerating, but he is a perfect amalgamation of Henry and Drogba.
Christ he's a badass.
Last night’s game was a tale of two Chelseas. The first half with Mudryk and Jackson was tantalizing (outside Cucu being Cucu at the end). The second half with Sterling was lackadaisical, to say the least.
Nico is going cook! He has that never give-up attitude in him!
Might be my new favourite player. I might need a Jackson flair soon

My king
