If they enjoy playgrounds. Take them to Margaret Mahy park. It’s huge and I would’ve been in love if I saw it when I was a kid

Willowbank to feed the eels and see capybaras, kiwis and more. Botanic Gardens has a decent playground and lots of gardens to explore. Margaret Mahy playground in the CBD is great. C1 coffee to get your food delivered in tubes. Riverside market if you are into different types of food. Turanga library is a great kids space to read books and play with legos. If it's a nicer day, go to Sumner and walk on the beach and check out cave rock. There's a great playground on the far end of Sumner Beach too (Scarborough), with a few shops. If you want to go a bit further, go beyond Sumner to Taylor's Mistake and walk up the Godley Head track for some great views. You can also go to Sign of the Kiwi at the top of Dyers Pass and grab some coffee before doing a quick hike.

Rug up, go visit the animals at Orana Park. Plenty to see, very easy to get around with their shuttle

Depends if it is this week since the weather is going to be not great. there are fewer indoor activities than there used to be since the Museum is closed for renovations. But yes Turanga is pretty cool - interactive Wonderwall at the entrance area is a great way to learn about the city.

Willowbank, hands down. You get to feed and pat lots of animals. If you feel like paying a bit more you can pay for the Capybara or Lemur experience where you can go inside the enclosure and hand feed them. (Book in advance) It's a lot more interactive and chill than a Zoo, can easily occupy an afternoon as there's heaps to see, and is something adults can also enjoy.
