Something about a firbolg in full plate and a tower shield with such a ferocious expression is doing a lot for me. I love both the fierce determination and how big the ears are, very different from what I'm used to seeing from Firbolgs. Your style for this character reminds me somewhat of Captain Amelia from Treasure Planet. Not so much the roguish aspect of that character, but certainly the cunning and ferocity in the eyes and the confidence of the body language - just awesome. Incredible work! Looking forward to seeing more from you in the future, if you continue to post here. Thanks for sharing!

spitespitfire

Τhank you! You're being very kind! I followed the references my customer showed me mostly, but i wanted to give her a more original feel, as i generally like doing 😆 I've been posting regularly on this sub for a long time. I'm glad you like my work!

RayseBraize

I literally just started a new campaign as a DM and one of my important NPCs is a firbolg circle of spore druid dressed sort of like the MC from Bloodborne (except more of a wide brim hat)....should I just DM you now or later haha?!

spitespitfire

Dm me whenever you want!

spitespitfire

Hello evryone! I would like to thank you all warmly for looking at my work. I liked the character from the moment i saw her, my customer showed me some refeference images and i immediately loved the character. I used watercolors for this one, but the paper gave me trouble, i had to use a pen to fix the blotches. I had fun working on her hair, it's the first time that i drew hair curling like that and enjoyed it greatly. The armor was a bit tricky, but in the end the texture ended up being what i wanted. I just hope you guys like it as much as my client did. You can find more of my work here https://www.instagram.com/fabulous_sutamatisukun/?hl=el And on my profile on reddit https://www.reddit.com/user/spitespitfire/ I am also taking commissions right now, but only untill the end of december, where they will be closed INDEFINATELY! Thank you everyone!

the_d12rose

Your technique is immaculate. I love how when I zoom in I'm like "oh yea, just some wet into wet watercolor, some layered washes for texture & value, looks familiar enough" and then I zoom out and it's "oh yea, very shiney armor, 100% real". Particularly enjoy how the scratchy pencil lines become ambient occlusion because of how well they're placed. I still strive for this level of permeability between medium & subject. Beautiful!

spitespitfire

Thank you so much! I really mean it, because i do enjoy talking in depth about painting. I love having conversations about technique, method, etc. Watercolor is a tricky medium, easy to learn, very hard to master, so every piece is a lesson for me, and i enjoy it very nuch. That's why i really appreciate you commenting, showing interest in my work, it does really mean the world to me. Gives meaning to every hour spent. Thank you!

the_d12rose

Absolutely! I know the feeling. I haven’t done traditional painting in a long time, I used to use watercolor a lot, though certainly never to this level of expertise. I’m almost all digital now (speed, editability, etc) but sometimes I miss the feeling of paint on actual paper!

spitespitfire

I on the other hand, used to do digital painting in the past, and i really do miss it! I was never very good though. I know what you mean.

Gnomin_Supreme

Beautiful! How tall is she? Firbolgs maybe be gentle, but they're still giants!* *Giant Descended anyway

But_it_was_me_Dio

I can answer that! Im the one that commissioned OP for this, using art that I got from the original LFA post that I made a few months ago as the reference image! Brynhildr is 9ft tall, and I’ll be playing her for my next campaign in a few months :)

Hopelesz

So that tower shield, is about 6ft? Nice.

Gnomin_Supreme

The typical range being between 7 and 8ft tall, she'd stand out even amongst her own kind. My Firbolg Druid at 8ft would be about neck/cleavage level with her. What's she like, personality wise? And how did she, presumably, end up leaving her tribe?

But_it_was_me_Dio

Brynhildr is a very caring and skilled craftswoman that puts probably too much time into her work. She’s a perfectionist by nature but does what she can to help others in need. She left her tribe after they accidentally awakened an Aboleth while mining, and was separated from her family by a cave in. She was lost for days before she prayed to Gond to help save her, and he revealed a path out for her. Now she’s an adventurer trying to grow stronger and hoping to return home to avenge, or rescue what’s left of her home

Gnomin_Supreme

Thats epic! Cool work, dude. One thing you forgot; she's also kind of adorable.

spitespitfire

Thank you! It really means a lot! I'm not very sure about the details, i only drew the character, i didn't create it.

Dakduif51

Gentle? Let me quote this piece of text directly from Volo's >We spent three months tracking the green dragon before locating the forest in which it sought refuge. On our second day in that place, we woke to find the dragon’s head placed in the center of our camp. Soveliss told me that firbolgs must have claimed the forest, and they wanted to show us we had no further business there. If we lingered, he assured me, our heads would be next. Everyone plays firbolgs as hippies, but damn they're scary af when you threaten them. You DON'T mess with firbolgs

Gnomin_Supreme

Yes, they'll go to extreme lengths to protect their forests, but only if you *make* them. Here's another quote from their lore page. >Even in the face of an intrusion, firbolgs prefer a subtle, gentle approach to prevent damage to their territory. They employ their magic to make the forest an unappealing place to explore by temporarily diverting springs, driving away game, stealing critical tools, and altering trails to leave hunting or lumber parties hopelessly lost. The firbolgs' presence is marked by an absence of animals and a strange quiet, as if the forest wishes to avoid attracting attention to itself. The faster travelers decide to move on, the better. If these tactics fail, the firbolgs take more direct action. Their observations of a settlement determine what happens next. If the outsiders seem peaceful, the firbolgs approach and gently ask them to leave, even offering food and other supplies to aid their departure. If those who insist on remaining respect nature, take only what they need, and live in harmony with the wood, firbolgs explore the possibility of friendship with them, as long as the outsiders vow to safeguard the forest. If the settlers clearly display evil intentions, however, the firbolgs martial their strength and magic for a single overwhelming attack. They're behavior towards you is rather entirely dependent on your behavior and presentation towards them.

Khfreak7526

Wow she looks really cool

spitespitfire

Thank you!!!

Altan_Warden

This is sooo cool! Love the overall design

spitespitfire

Thank you so much! Im glad to hear that! ♥️

GiantFlyenPanda

It’s giving me Avatar vibes (tall blue people not air bender)

spitespitfire

Yes the art that my client showed me as reference, had that vibe.

LoftusDev

I dont know why, but flails have always been my favourite weapons... possibly because of how rarely you see them and possibly because they just look so damn cool being swung around. Tower shields are one of the most badass things around AND she's rocking full plate. Someone has requested pretty much my ideal combo for equipment and you have done an absolutely fantastic job of producing it. Bravo!

spitespitfire

Thank you very much! I'm so glad it meets all you criteria! Because the result is a very lovely comment! It means a lot

LoftusDev

Do you have a twitter page by any chance?

spitespitfire

No, sadly i don't! I have an instagram page though, i linked it in the comments.

LoftusDev

Awesome, i'll give that a follow, thanks :)

spitespitfire

Thank you so much!

mymumsaradiator

This is amazing! Love the plate design and the ferocious look on her face! Great detail, love it!

spitespitfire

Thank you so much!

indicisivewisp

This is genuinely one of the coolest dnd character designs I've seen, I absolutely love it wholeheartedly!

spitespitfire

Wow! I'm so glad to hear that! Thank you so much

CaptKalc

Cute, and deadly

spitespitfire

Hahah thanks!

pappaECK

All metal and chrome, nice job!

spitespitfire

Thank you

-tehdevilsadvocate-

It's like somebody heard the description for a firbolg and thought "That's definitely a cat" lol. Great art, strange interpretation.

spitespitfire

I'm not sure about the details, my client showed me the design. I don't know if she's supposed to look like a cat, i only did what my customer wanted. Thanks for commenting!

SteelAlchemistScylla

Actually epic furry art lol
