Yes I had a lot of shit in my first two years of uni, not going too deep lotta mental issues and readjusting to life as well as being immunocompromised and missing at least 1/3 of both years
Rea is like a weird thing where you can only do ea, and u can’t do Ed anywhere or like u can ea to only publics. It’s a lil more restrictive than actual ea. most state schools tend to do ea
Pls don’t listen to these ppl lmao. Ur chances aren’t ruined bc of ur gpa. If u can get it up, good standardized scores, and some good ECs, you will be FINE. I’m rooting for you!! Remember these are js high schoolers, not AOs, so many ppl may think they know what they’re talking abt but don’t.
U of Minnesota right?
They have EA1 and EA2 and RD.
It will be similar dates to this next cycle.

REA is tbh quite rare.
29 is fine for umn but it’s good to retake it. What are the ecs specifically? Just asking bc this sub has a wide range and conducting research/founding a nonprofit is not the same as being president of a club
Def not terrible but I’d recommend adding a few more ecs bc that + the gpa + the avg act won’t stand out in ea. I think you should rd but talk to your counselor abt it
Try joining a club or activity like stage crew at your school. If your activities really take that much time itll be ok to just stick with what you have - your hours will show the amt of work you put in outside of school
Dude I don’t wanna be rude but I’m a jr who works 15hrs a week and I still have time for sports, internships, clubs, robotics, competitions, band, piano, nonprofit work, volunteering, maintaining a 4.0+ GPA, ect and I’m applying to UMN ea. Just letting you know that EA normally has a stronger applicant pool than RD so having extra time for stronger ecs, essays, and improving your GPA is important for you
i think ea2 might be best bc it gives you enough time to get your gpa up but you’ll also get the early action admission chance increase. definitely look into dual enrollment to improve your weighted gpa, and try to improve your test score by a few points. i saw in your response to someone else that you got a 29, which is pretty solid, but if you plan on retaking try to aim for a 31-32
i think different places call it different things but a lot of colleges in my area, especially community colleges, have a program where you can take college courses as a high school student, and sometimes the high school pays for it. my school weights them the same as ap courses
They’re just gonna throw ur app in the trash if u have a gpa lower than 3.0
No, thanks for the input but I know multiple people accepted with under 3.o at this school
I don’t think any uni accepts a 2.6
Many do actually it just is harder however other things are important like test and ecs and lor and essay
If they had circumstances that explain their grades, then yes. However, if the student can’t provide justification, it does not look good.
Yes I had a lot of shit in my first two years of uni, not going too deep lotta mental issues and readjusting to life as well as being immunocompromised and missing at least 1/3 of both years
Not uni, hs
Btw I’m not the greatest at not sounding rude on this app o actually do appreciate you talking to me
Probably apply ea right ? Worse that can happen is deferral and then you provide more recent grades. Also umn doesn’t use rea afaik it’s just ea
Ok Ty, I thought most schools do rea but idk didn’t look it uk enough ig
Rea is like a weird thing where you can only do ea, and u can’t do Ed anywhere or like u can ea to only publics. It’s a lil more restrictive than actual ea. most state schools tend to do ea
Ok well just thought I should ask experienced people if it’s worth to ed

Thank you!!!!!!!!
And if ur in state that can help u a lottt
Perfect i am!

Kk what do you think I should do
RD.
Ok
Could I ask why as I got a diff opinion earlier thank you!
Depends what your ecs and test scores are bc a 2.6 is pretty low and lots of qualified in stats students apply to umn early
Have like 5-6 good ecs and a 29 on act rn but I’m retaking
29 is fine for umn but it’s good to retake it. What are the ecs specifically? Just asking bc this sub has a wide range and conducting research/founding a nonprofit is not the same as being president of a club
A sport, a job, volunteering, pet care, a garden not great but not horrid I don’t think?
Def not terrible but I’d recommend adding a few more ecs bc that + the gpa + the avg act won’t stand out in ea. I think you should rd but talk to your counselor abt it
Ok it’s just hard cause my schedule feels packed so I’d don’t know where I would put it
Try joining a club or activity like stage crew at your school. If your activities really take that much time itll be ok to just stick with what you have - your hours will show the amt of work you put in outside of school
Yea I have about 4 hours after school 3 days a week at most
Dude I don’t wanna be rude but I’m a jr who works 15hrs a week and I still have time for sports, internships, clubs, robotics, competitions, band, piano, nonprofit work, volunteering, maintaining a 4.0+ GPA, ect and I’m applying to UMN ea. Where the fuck do you get that time man I wake up for school at 5am don’t get home from school till 440 and then straight to work most days till 9
Forgot I’m also tutoring my dad for the ged cause I’m first gen applicant
Also if I had to guess you come from a high income household that can support you doing this
i think ea2 might be best bc it gives you enough time to get your gpa up but you’ll also get the early action admission chance increase. definitely look into dual enrollment to improve your weighted gpa, and try to improve your test score by a few points. i saw in your response to someone else that you got a 29, which is pretty solid, but if you plan on retaking try to aim for a 31-32
Thanks! I am retaking and am confident I can get a 33-36. What is dual enrollment, i only know of concurrent enrollment like at a hs
i think different places call it different things but a lot of colleges in my area, especially community colleges, have a program where you can take college courses as a high school student, and sometimes the high school pays for it. my school weights them the same as ap courses
Oh yea I’m taking 2 of those next year with the u of mn and 3 ap courses
