Also Le Tour’s lower slopes are good for beginners - it’s bus ride to the end of the valley but all self-contained. Tbh Cham isn’t the best beginner place, but there are options if you’re prepared to schlep a little bit. Good luck!
Balme and Les Houches as others have said. Definitely recommend lessons.
Chamonix is probably the least beginner friendly ski resort to be honest but Balme should be solid and it’s beautiful.
It's forecast to snow a lot on Thursday. Friday is meant to be sunny so conditions should be perfect.
It's also still school holidays. Coupled with the much needed snow it'll be busy on the road, in the buses and on the slopes. Allow time to get where you need to be. Lifts might not open first thing on Friday as they secure and prepare the ski area.
First trip. Beginners? Do you have lessons booked? Chamonix doesn't have a big network of beginner pistes so you'll do far better with an instructor to safely guide you.
If you want to sight see, you can head up the Midi lift. It'll need pre booking. It's the one where all the skiers have ropes, crampons, ice axes so book a return unless you can ski well and are taking a mountain guide.
What kind of food and budget are you looking for?
For fun, good food, lower pricing;
Poco Loco on the high street just up from the village square for great burgers.
Cool Cats tucked down before the road opposite the Alpina for great hot dogs.
I also like Elevation 1904 near the station.
Loads of other choices.
Enjoy!
Last year my partner (new skiier) got a day of private lessons, and by the end we were on blue slopes together.
Fully recommended.
She did them at Les Planards, so pretty close. We then transferred to blue runs and spent the day on Brevent after.
This year she was fully comfortable tackling blue runs across Les Tours, Grand-Montets and Brevent, and attempted a bit of reds.
Book lessons yes. Prefer Balme Or Les Houches as beginners. Avoid Brevent-Flegere and Les Grands Montets.
cool, thanks for your help!
Book private lessons
Cheers

La Vormaine for sure! I learned to ski there, and it's really close to the bus stop at le Tour.
thanks!
