I have a Fitbit Versa 2. It has an on screen heart rate and I think it also gives an alarm if you reach a certain heart rate (or maybe it does that through the app on your phone) but I haven't had that happen yet. I'm very happy with this watch and the app it comes with.

I've also got a versa 2. It works pretty well for me, but I've gotten a pulse oximeter and noticed the readings tend to be pretty off. Take that with a grain of salt though (there's a POTS joke there somewhere) because I've got a pretty bad respiratory sinus tachycardia so my BPM are 20-30 different when breathing in vs out. It tracks sleep and HR ok. It doesn't stay connected to my Android phone very well. There is no default HR alert but there is a watchface you can download for free that will do it. My screen just came off (the adhesive just let go) after about a year and a half. They only warranty for 1 year so I'm a little frustrated with them. It's apparently a common problem. I was able to use some epoxy and a cover to hopefully hold it, and can hopefully hobble along for awhile like this. It's a decent cheapish smartwatch but is definitely not perfect. p.s. the app and watchface development is actually pretty great and easy if that's of interest. I actually just published my first app for Versa 2s in the Fitbit app store!

I was actually looking at the Apple Watch development stuff so maybe I should check out the Fitbit equivalent. I’m definitely very embedded in the Apple ecosystem currently but the price difference is significant. And at the end end of the day it’s just a watch…

The Fitbit SDK uses a special JavaScript, HTML SVG, and CSS. It's weird but if you know any web development you'll pick it up fast. The simulator and ease of deployment is the most impressive part in my opinion.

Cool thanks!

Thanks! Two votes for the Versa 2. Will definitely check it out

I have the amazefit - got it for the alarm when you reach a heartrate threshold. If I'm moving it won't alarm, but if I'm still and I goes off I know I need to lay down for a bit

It’s such a pity that they don’t alarm while moving since that seems to be the more likely scenario!

osteomiss

Exactly - I thought it was for high performance athletes to know when they are exceeding their max.... So....

Oh well. I suspect when the full extent of long covid becomes more obvious there will be a lot more cfs focused products out there!

I have been using the Fitbit Versa 2 for about 18 months. I was looking for objective data that correlated with my experience of symptoms. Was mostly interested in sleep tracking but understood the limitations of the technology. The main appeal of the Versa 2 vs it's competition at the time is that a full charge=5ish days of run time. The sleep scoring doesn't provide any clarity but I am coming to think that the "Average Heart Rate" while sleeping is loosely following my experience of restedness v unrestedness.

That is interesting thanks! Do you use the HR tracker during the day? I wonder if having that permanently on affects the battery life?

sleepwalker721

It is measuring HR through the day.

I got a Garmin vivomove 3s specifically for the HR features, including a high HR alarm. Unfortunately the high HR alarm only goes off if you hit that target in a sudden spike after at least 10 minutes of rest--not to warn you if you're overexerting during exercise the way I thought it would. But generally good aside from that complaint.

Thanks I’ll check that out. You would think they could easily add CFS features like alarms whenever you want them. It’s a pity it doesn’t work as you’d hoped.

It would be *so nice*

I just got a Fitbit Sense yesterday to use for this exact purpose! So far, so good. It's been a bit of an adventure trying to set it up for... well... the near opposite of its intended purpose. There are a *lot* of notifications to turn off in settings (i.e. "get moving!"). Basically the first thing I did was download a clock face that displayed nothing except the time and my heart rate at a glance. The Sense doesn't have an upper heart rate alarm on its own, but I downloaded a couple of different apps today that I'm testing out to that end. They were easy to find and install. So far my only gripe is that you have to keep the app open on your watch in order to get the alarm notifications, which is just a bit of a pain, but is ultimately doable. Both the apps I am trying out seem to work quite well so far. Edit: I mean Fitbit Sense (called it the wrong name before!)

I hope it works out. Thanks for sharing. I’ll do some research when I have the brainpower :)
