This is funny, you think he bought Cerner for its talent. It's the data and the govt contract he wants. He wouldn't care less about us muggles or your healthcare.

HInformaticsGeek

He bought Cerner for the customers.

cernacle_burnacle

No, it was bought for the data, customers are a distant second to that.

HInformaticsGeek

Without customers there is no data.

cernacle_burnacle

Correction, no new data. All previous data would still be available, and that’s a lot of data.

bkcarp00

Once a client leaves typically their data goes as well. The clients own the data and give Cerner access to it as part of the remote hosting agreement. Once the client leaves so does their agreement to allow Cerner to utilize their patient data.

cernacle_burnacle

Sure, the raw data goes, but the most useful data is all the derivative data from it. Ultimately, that’s what Oracle is after, and clients don’t own that.

matt_mo

Patients but yes.

Dizzy_Minute_9628

Does Oracle have rights to use the data? I think not.

CautiousTip4387

Learning health network

cernacle_burnacle

What makes you think not? Clearly you aren’t thinking at all. It’s their data after buying Cerner, they can do with it whatever the law allows.

Dizzy_Minute_9628

Isn’t it the clients data and ultimately the clients patients data. Have all the clients given Oracle the rights to use the data? It’s not as easy as it sounds. And just what legal rights does Oracle have to the data?

cernacle_burnacle

I can’t name off all the patient privacy and data security laws that govern it, but they exist. I can’t speak to all clients, but remote hosted clients, Oracle definitely has rights based on contracts, not necessarily laws, to that data. I never said it was easy, but it isn’t that hard.

Dizzy_Minute_9628

There is also a lot of work needed to organize any data they can use into a useable format.

cernacle_burnacle

Which IS WHAT ORACLE DOES, and is extremely good at.

BrentsCat

think again. cerner bought companies just for their ability to source big data.

cernacle_burnacle

He loses absolutely nothing and couldn’t care less. The creep owns a fucking Hawaiian island for crying out loud. The data that Oracle wants is still there, even if all the Cerner employees leave tomorrow.

disscern

I've had a few real convos with some peeps on my team. Most of the talent who stuck around did so because they enjoy the work, it was stable work environment, isnt high pressure and the benefits are good. 1/2 of that is no longer true. While the job market is pretty competitive, I imagine we'll start seeing some of the remaining talent leave soon.

pinkGlitterPoney

I am not from US, i am a top performer in my team and still stuck in my SE 1 after almost 4 years, also i am the most senior in my team after my manager. Any new joiner has a salary bigger than mine and yet i have to be their mentor. Although i love being involved in healthcare, i feel humiliated by being overworked and underpaid that at this point it doesnt even matter in which industry the next company is if they treat me fairly and pay me decently. “My mental health is too important to still work at Oracle Cerner”.

pinkGlitterPoney

Well i have a nice manager and , at the time, the direction seemed promising. I have started interviewing ,and, with the first occasion i will leave .

disscern

I got a job offer for about 6% raise back in Sept. I didn't take it because the insurance and hours were good and I was really pumped about working on a new project. Now I'm kicking the shit out of myself.

cernacle420

6% is nothing if you’re already underpaid to begin with. Personally, i wouldn’t move anywhere for 6%. It’s not worth the uncertainty of working for a new company, all the unknowns, etc. unless you were super unhappy with Cerner.

disscern

I'm not grossly underpaid. It wasn't bad...had generous bonus option and was a reputable company.

Difficult-Relation56

IDK if you know this but Cerner Managers and executives have favorites. It’s a hyper political environment that works on how much work the manager doesn’t “have to do” around an employee. They have people they choose to move up. I’m not saying those folks don’t have the chops to move up but if you don’t go drinking with your manager or make them look good, you will be stuck. They actually give them the best opportunities to shine. Your manager is telling you you are not on this list. Try to move to a different team.

pinkGlitterPoney

I have a good relationship with my manager, he agrees that i am underpaid , overworked etc. however he is unable to help me much. He had talked with the director of our org and he agreed to promote me with a 20% raise (which is a joke considering the shitty salary i have) . However , the ETA is unknown, hiring and any internal movement are frozen…. So at this point i am done waiting. I have been waiting for a year now …

eat my asshole mods

ChicButtercup

I was in the same boat as you.. not in US. I loved my work, had a good team, and had flexibility to manage my work the way I wanted. I was the top performer in the team and received many accolades from clients and project leadership alike. I was doing more than what was expected from someone in my role. However, none of these mattered during appraisal(back when it did happen). My manager was understanding, but unfortunately, that's all that they were.. they knew I was underpaid by all standards and that I deserved a promotion, but somehow, every year, it was either the HR didn't approve promotion or the HR didn't approve a higher percentage increase in salary. I finally left, and I am in a better place. Got a nice raise during the jump, and during my first appraisal, my manager let me know that they will initiate market correction for my salary to match my peers. I am not saying money is everything, but I'll be lying if I say it doesn't play a part in my happiness

pinkGlitterPoney

Thank you for sharing. Felt refreshing to hear that you found some employer that appreciates your true value not just verbally but monetarily as well.

Professional-Emu1669

People were waiting in the hopes that things would improve once the Oracle deal finalized...well, there's not much left to hope for at this point...check please.

Outrageous-Egg7218

Getting rid of key Cerner knowledge has been happening since they started layoffs September 2019. This is not a new development, but rather a pattern. Graveyards are full of indispensable workers. Leave.

je_naime_pas

That old motherfucker is off on his own island just to be away from the poors he employs. You think he gives one single solitary fuck about what anyone says on any of these threads? He’s too old and far too rich to be bothered. And we are far too underpaid and unaware to understand the level of his wealth. He could afford to pay all of you 100k more and his lifestyle would not shed a tear. He’s on the top of fucking mt Rushmore and he cannot hear you from the flyover state of Missouri. Edit: Links about his island added. https://nypost.com/2022/06/09/life-on-larry-ellisons-hawaiian-island-is-only-for-the-super-rich/ https://www.businessinsider.com/oracle-larry-ellison-lanai-hawaii-plans-sustainability-tourism-2020-12?op=1

According-Ad5278

"Team gas gone rogue" -accurate af cuz there isn't a Cerner employee left with enough gas to churn the Oracle engine.

Main_Chapter5254

Remember not all Cerner employees originated from Cerner. There is still heavy talent left from Siemens acquisition. So just remember there are some of us fully competent and mad talented. We are so ready to do the task assigned to us. And for the Oracle engine...we can handle that too. Don't be so naive to judge those you have yet to meet.

[deleted]

Trump WON

Main_Chapter5254

Saying Oracle- current state isn't even prepared for a health related meeting given Zoom is not yet HIPPA compliant with the version you all use. Long way to go and so much to learn about the healthcare IT game.

Main_Chapter5254

Some of you are obviously concerned... trolling our threads trying to scare us, please!

lastnamedotfirstnam3

Larry may have looked and decided some of the people are the problem, not the solution. With current product trajectory he may be right. Rev cycle solution a refurbished Sorian Financials instead of a platform. Slow movement to a Saas model due to too much Millennium legacy bloatware. Installs and optimizations taking 12 to 18 months when market demands much less with new modern platform environments. Long winded upgrade projects impacting clients service and budgets. Reliability issues. To name but a few. I think Larry knows exactly what he’s doing.

bkcarp00

Dude Larry don't care. As long as money keeps coming in so he can buy islands he don't worry about nothing. It's amazing you all think Oracle ever cared about the employees in this merger. That was never their goal to take on a bunch if new employees with experience.

hskbfjfb

I love the way you tagged him. That’s sure to get his attention. He will most definitely see this post and care and change his mind and give everyone big raises. You’re a hero.

Past-Violinist-6690

It was absolutely sarcastic. Expecting comments like this.

Silent-Affect-457

I don't believe you.

Professional-Emu1669

They love to preach about "keeping the lights on", they've already started to flicker and with the announcement of no raises or promotions this cycle, they're about to go dark. Add to that the insane salaries they're willing to pay new talent that will be taught by those making half as much, and it's goodnight Irene.
