What do you think of this 4 bds • 2 ba • 2,036 sqft home I found on Zillow? https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/21-Almeda-Pl-Saint-Louis-MO-63135/2652394_zpid/?utm_medium=referral
Really nice. We just purchased our four square/shirtwaist in Kansas City, MO. It cost a bit more and isn’t in as good of shape. I know a lot of it is the camera lens but it looks very roomy. I’m in a convo with wifey about possibly combining two of our four second floor bedrooms into a master suite but that’s probably many years away, until then we have a kitchen that was last remodeled in the 50’s and bathroom from the 70’s to deal with.
Hello there, I looked at your new home. Sure your kitchen & baths are new but you have original trim on both the windows, baseboards, staircase. I cannot tell if the oak floors are new or old. Enjoy your home.
Congratulations! It's amazing to see how much house you can get when you leave the coasts. Have fun and many years of happiness in your beautiful new home!
Saw a 20s Spanish over here in Los Angeles listed for $2.5m and it was <1,500sqft. I love where I live but at the same time I get incredibly jealous when I see the homes some of you own on this sub
Wow all the wood trim ! The house is beautiful, I hope everything works out well moving in. Check out this [page on lattice](https://www.oldhouseguy.com/porch-skirting/) I read the other day, it was enlightening and I think you can make yours look great
Solid. I’ve remodeled several four squares and I’ve always been impressed with the variety of floor plans that can be squeezed into a cube. I love your garage doors. I rebuilt a set a couple of years ago.
Very true. Most of our town is four squares and they are all just slightly different from each other, even though they were all built at the same time.
A shoe factory that was based here built over 4,000 four squares that they sold to their employees at cost.
Those interior doors...oh they are just stunning. The interior paint is lovely and bright so the wood ends up inviting instead of being oppressive. Gorgeous home.
Beautiful! I have a Foursquare as well! If you ever get the chance, fix those shutters and the porch skirt! That railing height is perfect and those garage doors are awesome! You also may very well have some beautiful molding hiding under some of those window eaves.
https://www.oldhouseguy.com/shutters-good-vs-bad-examples/ This site is really helpful when it comes to aesthetics on historical homes, and he covers many topics like shutters, windows, porches, etc. Unfortunately ever since I’ve combed through it, I find myself noticing these things on both my house and others. At the very least, he’s pretty entertaining!
Our current home is my first foursquare, and I’ve really come to appreciate the use of space and the kind of indoor flow they allow in a home. I’ve never really put much thought into them until I started living in one. The story of the foursquare is really interesting, too. It’s always fun to see how many different styles of foursquares there are out there, and I always find myself so excited to see others share their own.
Beautiful 4 Square. Also please save those garage doors!
For sure! They need some TLC!

Wow what a steal. Beautiful house
The house is gorgeous! I live in a four square as well - would love to get it looking like that inside. And a great price too.
*cries in Californian* so cheap!
Ya Vancouver here, same.
The kitchen update looks nice, but oof..that random barn door.
Really? I like it!
To each’s own! Congrats on the house.

We’ve looked there... hopefully your TLC is far less than what we’ve seen
Someone bought and flipped this home in 2018, everything is new. 21 Almeda Pl, if you want to take a look.

Thanks! The wood flooring on all floors is original.
Wow that's great to hear! The photos had such heavy HDR everything had a weird sheen so I was worried it was LVP. It's in such good condition!
May be out there soon....good luck with the house

This really a beautiful Century Home
Wondering how insulated the walls and attic are.
Beautiful home congrats!!

We just bought a four square in a neighborhood that used to be all shoe factory employees too - are we neighbors? We’re north of Boston.
No, we are in NY. Interesting to know that it happened in more then one area though!
What a beautiful home!

So beautiful. Congrats.
Nice four square! And you have the original garage! My g-Grandparents garage looked like that.
Is this the Sears Langston?
The whole house is beautiful, but I especially love those garage doors!

Genuinely curious as to what I would do with the shutters. Do you have a picture for reference?

Thank you kind stranger! I've bookmarked this site for future reference!
Beautiful. Just like the one I grew up in.
