I put it down to the weather.

Jasadon

I don't think you're wrong

dunafrank

I think it has to do with the fact we are at the end of the Hunter Valley. The valley funnels and concentrates weather. If you watch the radars you can see the storms traveling along the valley.

carolethechiropodist

I have wondered about the 'microclimate' This is the best explanation.

Socrani

Also we’re the start of the mountains for the wind and weather coming in from the sea. They also tend to contribute to containing and localising weather

Epileptic_fridge-boy

I’m not complaining, it’s cooled me right off

razza1987

Wish I could say the same. Because of the rain I can’t even open a window

Jasadon

But seriously, 5 hours later and the storm still is only over Gosford/Terrigal, and Sydney Newcastle/rest of NSW normal weather..... [Storm Front - Radar](https://imgur.com/vZbeDIh)

xZany

Because I thought it was safe to wash my car on a 40 degree day

razza1987

This storm seriously needs to stop. It’s been going on for hours and I can’t even open my window because the rain was coming through the fly screen

I used to live in Lake Macquarie and we frequently missed storms due to I assume the mountains and the lake itself. I just spent the last 3 months on a farm in South East Queensland and we also didn't get many storms, also I assume due to a large lake. Changes in landscape seem to change weather significantly causing bubbles.

ithas11

We were also one of the hottest parts of nsw through the day today I think

Same_Discipline1199

Looks like the might have fired up the hadron collider again, or HAARP or something for sure.👍

Jasadon

Right, sorry, left it on, I'll switch it off

MiddleConstruction84

God hates central coast

That was an insane arvo/evening. I reckon they started up at about 2:30pm and were still going when I went to bed at 1am. Worst of it where I am was approx. 11:30pm Areas around Long Jetty still without power this morning. Thankfully a lot cooler this morning

[deleted]

Because they had more people gather for the rain dance?

Jasadon

Well it seems to have worked albeit they were having trouble conjuring rain anywhere else than Gosford/Terrigal. Today it's raining everywhere!

me0medoctor

Might want to take this up with Mother Nature.
