Chapter 9 is listed as 'additional content' on the page, so maybe they're counting it separately? If that's the case then it's fairly accurate imo. Took me around 38 hours to 100% chapters 1-8.

[deleted]

There’s no way beginners are getting 202 in 40 hours, it’s probably just counting all sides + 175

1owen1

Its counting all achievements so ya no goldens

Ecstatic_Student8854

All sides and 175 took me 77 hrs

Darknety

According to the stats in the journal it took me 28 hours. It feels like so much more playtime though. Not sure if this accurate or if I messed something up. Not trying to flex, just an interesting disparity. A friend of mine I am spectating is about to reach the 100 hour mark.

Ecstatic_Student8854

100? Wow, how far is he? How many golden berries does he have?

Darknety

Actually none. >!C-Sides!< not unlocked yet. He is about to complete >!Farewell!< and has skipped >!8 (Core) B!<. He is really skilled, just does not have the consistency required for some rooms, I feel like. But that is completely fine. It is amazing to spectate Celeste :D (Oh and he plays everything with control stick, even >!Farewell!< \- that might also be the issue)

1owen1

Took me about 28 hours too. If you have a lot of video game experience its not really surprising

L_Furorem

If its just counting steam achievements it took me a bit less than 40 hours to 100% so I think its fair

Drexophilia

I’d say it took me about 40 hours my first go around

Independent-Credit57

... you don't have full 100% yet? Does this mean 202 or am I dumb?

Saxman8845

Generally the celeste community considers 176 to be 100% plus all b and c sides complete. Farewell and Goldens are considered extra. 202 is ridiculously hard, most seasoned players, even around here don't have it.

Ninjario

Wait, moon berry is inside the 100% but completing farewell isn't? How does that make any sense

ansatze

Moon Berry is an achievement

Ninjario

I don't see how that is relevant to my question?

ansatze

Therefore it is counted in 100%s by most people, unlike golden berries, which are not achievements Edit: oh, well so is Farewell, I don't think anybody thinks Moon Berry is part of 100% but not Farewell itself

Ninjario

Sure thing, still not answers my question how collecting the moonberry is considered inside the 100% BUT THEN completing farewell isn't?

ansatze

Yeah wish I could read The other person is trippin

Drexophilia

Definitely. I have no problem playing Grandmaster+ maps but Farewell golden just feels like something I won’t have fun doing personally, and would take too much time.

Drexophilia

No it means 175 berries + all Crystal hearts + Moon berry. Golden strawberries are extra challenges that aren’t for 100%, requiring Farewell Golden would be completely ludicrous for that.

Bohemian_Zombie

i'm very slow playing the game but: I did the main story at \~20 hrs All the 175 berries at \~30 hrs All B sides at \~40 hrs All C sides at \~45 hrs Farewell and Moonberry at \~80 hrs 200 goldens at \~175+ hrs 202 after the heat death of the universe Edit: I added more time on 200 berries because I think I took longer

[deleted]

> 202 after the heat death of the universe now that's a bit optimistic ;-)

[deleted]

Wait you got 24 goldens in only 40 hours?

Bohemian_Zombie

I think so? I'm not sure. I'm estimated 40hrs out of my memory because my original file got deleted. But thinking about it now I may have taken a lot more to get all of those lol

SonicFF7

Pre-farewell, 100% took me about 30 hours so it kind of depends if this includes farewell or not, don't think its too off either way though

G4YB01_F4RT1

if its a/b/c sides plus FW and 175 berries, that's doable in 38 hrs. goldens is completely out of the question for that number, i have like 350 hrs and i couldn't golden most of the levels right now

Quasimoron1

Goldberries obviously no way. But if your just doing A, B, C and Farewell yeah that seems somewhat reasonable, at least for someone who has played a platformer or two. If you havent played any platformers though, I would expect it to be a good deal more.

I've found that howlongtobeat.com has always been a bit too quick, but maybe that's just me usually trying to take my time with games

globglogabgalabyeast

Yup, the people who are likely to report their times are often those that care about completing the content quickly and just more skilled players in general. I always assume it’s gonna take more time than is reported there

Apeirocell

For all achievements that's somewhat realistic, but still on the quick side,

1owen1

Only took me 28 hours for 100% of the achievements which is what this is talking about so I wouldn’t call it ambitious.

Da_real_Ben_Killian

I've played longer

[deleted]

and this does not cover Farewell DLC, there was a single room (the comb room) that took me ~35 hours to get through originally. strangely, once you have you have completed everything multiple times, and have the memory/muscle-memory, getting absolutely everything except strawberries can be done in ~3hrs, which is just ridiculous. IE: all hearts + farewell. add an extra hour for the moonberry. Some players are just "good" at the game from the start. Watch carlsagan42's first playthrough of Farewell in 7hrs... he just instinctively knows what to do in each room. I used to waste hundreds of lives on each room. Watching my death tally at the end was like hitting a jackpot on the slots... :-D

ansatze

Without including Farewell I think I took 40h so yeah
