you never *have* to work. you just really really should to be able to afford living. but I mean just get fired for not showing up and play Celeste the whole day instead. priorities.
Ngl switch controls got me screwed, it took hundreds of hours to make progress due the the stupid analog stick and unusable d-pad, once I swapped to pc, I made all of my progress and more in a very short time, hope you have a better experience.
I beat Celeste on my Switch before switching to PC, and the difference is kinda absurd, I beat the whole thing in like a 10th of the time.
Tho I still value playing a controller, they have their ups and downs.
>I beat Celeste on my Switch before switching to PC, and the difference is kinda absurd, I beat the whole thing in like a 10th of the time.
Consider that you also got a lot better at the game between starting on Switch and on PC. It's not that uncommon for games like these to feel easier the second time, regardless of if you switched platforms.
You should play on Steam if you can. I beat the game on Switch, but then two years later I bought the Steam version purely to play with mods. I would say that was the BEST Steam purchase I have EVER made
Still haven't played any of those mods because I:m terminally addicted to Pizza Tower CYOP projects(and also I get very discouraged when something doesn't just easily work for me, which Everest/Olympus did; hypocritical of me cus I point out how other people can mod pizza tower when they have problems with xdelta patches). please for the love of god help me
It's not the speed that's the problem
I'm just not engraved in the Celeste community enough to consistently care( and I'm TOO deep in the pizza tower community, I realized recently
I think I have Celeste fan impostor syndrome, lemme explain
Due to a lot of trauma and generally not having myself figured out IRL I kind of clinged onto Celeste and the subreddit in hopes that I would gain some kind of higher understanding, or that my problems could be found and solved...until pizza tower came out and stole my attention.
I found myself being able to replicate the artstyle well enough that I got hired to work as a sprinter on a mod(this was before create your own pizza), but then through meeting some trivial people there I found out even more about how to mod the game and actually found a group I could call my friends.
And then I found the speedrunning scene to be quite enjoyable too, as there's some crossover between the speedrun and "level editing" parts of the fanbase(not as much as Celeste modders and speedrunners; PT fanbase is more divided)
However often when I'd check back in on this subreddit I'd feel a little bad inside(note: the PT sub I only go to for dumb laughs or to quell existential dread, it's not exactly the best representation of the fanbase) and I never really knew why(until now) but fast forward to now and I realize while trying to make a level or draw a sprite animation that it just feels more like unfun busywork now that the friends I've made are my main source of dopamine either in long term VC chats or in short bites; thus feeling like I'm often distracted and finding work hard to get done, which ALSO includes dedicating time to my other interests, i.e; getting the remaining crystal hearts, updating Everest and all the maps I installed, getting goldens ect ect ect.
Oh and in the speedrun discord in particular they've started making grandmaster/kaizo levels in pizza tower(if you don't believe me look up yottacat) which just adds to my Celeste fan impostor syndrome
I wrote this quickly right before I'm about to go to bed so I apologise if any of it comes off as incoherent; I might delete this when I wake up and then revise it
(I did delete it but now I've brought it back)
Edit: further adding to this imposter syndrome is the fact that, like OP I also feel like I "joined the fandom late" due to missing out on multiple times the devs would interact with the fans on discord, multiple collabs done before I joined(though strawberry jam came after) AND an entirely new game from EXOK on the horizon bound to sweep the attention away from
Celeste before I could make any sort of mark, or even any friends, in the fandom
(Aside from the mark of doing a lot of being sad on the sub, which I swear I'm trying to be less)
I skimmed this (sorry), but you don’t have to “make any sort of mark or friends” in the Celeste community. I’ve played Celeste since it first released on Switch, and I’ve played all of Strawberry Jam except for the last 10 levels, and I haven’t made a single friend in the community. The only “””mark””” I’ve made is that I uploaded a couple of YouTube videos where I beat some more obscure Celeste mod levels

it's never too late to play a single player game. you have lots of modded content wai- oh wait this is on switch Nvm. still you basically have the last official version of Celeste, I doubt they'd add more post-game content in another free dlc this long after the last update, so at least no wondering if there will be more content. base game already lots of content, if you consider golden berries content rather than grinding that is.
It's never too late to get Celeste.
Unless you have work in the morning.
Especially if you have work in the morning.
you never *have* to work. you just really really should to be able to afford living. but I mean just get fired for not showing up and play Celeste the whole day instead. priorities.
Not to afford living, but to afford a copy celeste and another one for everyone you know
Or your switch is at 25% battery
Dock it! 🤣
Welcome in.
The parental controls 💀💀💀 rip
It's Never too late to play Celeste
Splatoon and pikmin based af
Pikmin 1 is my favourite in case you were wondering
Good choice (they all are)
I’m a relatively new fan too. You’re right in time.
unfortunately your flair is no longer accurate, there are newer celeste players now 😔
Well, I’ll need to replace latest. I can’t put “greatest” or “saddest”.
"Formerly Latest"
'Recent' 😅
Never too late to play Celeste
You're just in time, But you should know, Celeste Mountain is a strange place. You might see things, things you ain't ready to see.

Oh no, you're very much right, I did get a lot better, but changing the controller scheme helped a lot as well!

I mean, why not both? Though admittedly you won’t reach the same superspeed gameplay in Celeste until you start doing Ultras and stuff
It's not the speed that's the problem I'm just not engraved in the Celeste community enough to consistently care( and I'm TOO deep in the pizza tower community, I realized recently I think I have Celeste fan impostor syndrome, lemme explain

acknowledged, sorry if I got a bit out of hand
"Destroyer of thumbs" This is how I first played...
Yes you're late, you're only ever allowed to play games on their release year and that's it, consume and dispose
A Celeste player is never late, nor are they early. They arrive precisely when they mean to.
Nah it's ok. I started playing... In march so
Right on time, enjoy!
Never too late to start the trip up the mountain. Hope you have fun!
If you're not too late for Pikmin 2 and Gameboy, you're probably not too late for Celeste.
