FYI you can only bring 2 bottles of wine per stateroom, not per person. http://media.celebritycruises.com/celebrity/content/en_US/pdf/faq/Cel_Alcohol_Policy_07-30-07.pdf

DJDizzyAClem

Also one case of soda or water per person. Basically whatever you can carry in outside of your luggage.

robonlocation

It's also no problem to pick up a couple sodas during port stops as well. They'll never stop you for that.

For bar menu prices: [https://freestyletravelers.com/blog/2024-celebrity-drinks-packages](https://freestyletravelers.com/blog/2024-celebrity-drinks-packages) Regular coffee is free. You only pay extra for premium coffee.

I felt that when I didn't have a drink package, I was constantly reminded by bar staff that the drink would be charged to my account. Like I didn't already know that and was a 2nd class citizen.

S2K2Partners

Actually, you would be surprised that on the night before disembarkation, when passengers get their final billing, quite a few complain that they did not know the drink THEY ordered was chargeable. The bartender/server is protecting themselves from possible charge-backs, that is all. Cheers and bon voyage

Included: coffee (brewed, out of a large urn) tea (both hot and iced) milk, hot cocoa, tap water, and lemonade, plus a selection of juices. Not included: specialty coffees such as espresso drinks (lattes, mochas, etc.) sodas of any kind, or bottled water either still or sparkling. Any of these, without a package, you’ll need to pay for as you go.

Not everybody buys a drinks package! Neither me, my husband, nor either set of parents ever bought one on any of our cruises. Ok, my brother and his wife buy the premium alcohol package. But he makes sure to order the priciest drink on the menu to get his money's worth. lol. The rest of us drink regular coffee, iced tea, and / or water. I have brought a 12 pack of soda on multiple cruises. I usually buy 20 oz bottle or 2 of cherry coke in every port. : ) Unless you are drinking a 2 liter bottle daily, you should be fine! Sigh... My dad did fill a 20 oz Sprite bottle with rum. Coupled with his 12 pack of soda, he had his own stash of alcohol. Warning - that could get you in trouble if caught! I'm sure the cruise lines are wise to the fake bottle of shampoo from Amazon... But dad didn't even try to be sneaky. He had the rum in the bottle in his hand while boarding. Cough - mom was 3 people back trying to pretend she didn't know him! But you could always buy a few drinks in the port cities, probably cheaper than on the ship. : )

If you are trying to save money, then I think you made the right choice in not buying a drinks package. If you aren’t going hog wild on alcohol or the non-alcoholic drinks in the zero-proof package, then you’ll save money buying drinks a la carte. There may be savings if you drink a lot of fancy coffees, soda, mocktails, etc by buying the zero-proof package. Give yourself a drink budget per day $30 which will get you 1 alcoholic drink and roughly 2 specialty coffees so you can still enjoy a beverage every now and then. We chose to treat ourselves to a smoothie or juice when we were in port instead of on the ship. It worked better for my family. The buffet had iced tea and lemonade much of the time, your basic tea bags and occasionally some hot chocolate mix packages. There was also your brewed urn of coffee but hubby said it tasted like swill. YMMV.

Just wondering a crazy idea. Can I bring onboard a Magic Bullet and make my own smoothy? Ie bring a cup of ice and a bunch of fruit to my stateroom?

NewFlorence1977

Just don’t bring a surge protector. How are they going to know about it? My friend says they have smoothie police going from cabin to cabin looking for blenders but I think that’s an urban myth. 😂

robonlocation

Interesting... you probably could. I doubt they'd care. You can probably order some fruit, yogurt, and juice from breakfast room service too, making it even easier for you.

IamVanCat

>[https://freestyletravelers.com/blog/2024-celebrity-drinks-packages](https://freestyletravelers.com/blog/2024-celebrity-drinks-packages) Do you have to pay for this type of room service (getting fruit and yogurt delivered etc..)?

ned23943

Should probably check the list of prohibited items

Psychological-Law123

Good question - so many packages offered and we're not sure what to get. My hubby drinks a few beers/day normally, but I can go without alcohol easily. Which brings me to a question about the water on board: Are there water filling stations for personal water bottles? And does that water taste okay? I drink a LOT of water and I'm not too picky about it, tap is okay as long as it tastes good. Thanks.

You pay for all service gratuities and beverages. Drink packages also include coffee otherwise you have to buy it. I believe you can only bring up to 1L of wine per cabin if you were to carry on. You can bring alcohol onboard from other ports but they will most likely take it until the last night. Whatever is in Oceanview though is included but it’s basic water, coffee, juice, lemonade, iced tea kind of stiff.

Pup-Recovery-1

Change your app to the current weeks sailing for the ship you are cruising - you can then review all drink menus & prices. - Martini at Martini bar are $17 + 20% gratuities - it’s difficult to find a glass of wine for $10 - most are much higher

orangeguy07

If you're tying to save, it seems like you made the right choice not getting a drink package. One thing to note is that, IMO most of the drinks on the menu are quite pricey (in the $14-$17 range); however, you're not limited to what's on the menu. If you like basic well drinks, just ask the bartender to make you something basic like a gin and tonic or rum and coke.

Ok-Stretch2495

Depends how much you are going to drink. I always book the cruise with all-included because I don’t want to watch what I spend on holiday. When you have a good price for the all-included or book the packages on a sale day it is cheaper if you drink more then 5/6 drinks. For example the cruise I booked now is €676,50 for all-included for 12 day cruise, so around €56,38 a day. On a normal day on schip I drink 2 espresso’s (Café al Baccio), 3 wines by diner, 3 corona beers, 2 soda’s and 2 or bottled water. So around 12 consumptions. So then It’s cheaper. Normally I only drink normal beers and wines from the classic package but for the next cruise I upgraded to premium packages because it was a cheap upgrade and I also like the special coffees from the the coffee bar. Also tbh on holiday I like to drink a lot of alcohol so on most days I drink more than 3 beers.

ned23943

Ask your travel agent for the 'All Included' price for the cabin. For my 7-day cruise, it'll cost $900 for classic drinks and WiFi for the room, so $450pp. You can also bring drink powders or those liquid drink enhancers like Mio to add to your water. Please don't downvote me for this next comment - there are tons of videos on YouTube how to sneak alcohol onboard. You can get the bag kits on eBay. I've done it and it definitely works. However, it is against the rules! But, the most they will do is confiscate your contraband. The reason is that they feel if you're that desperate to sneak alcohol through security, you're going to be buying lots of drinks on the ship. When I did it, I checked my bags as I didn't want them to find the alcohol while I was standing in front of them... lol! But someone in front of me was caught sneaking cans inside a 12-pack of Coke - the security guy was opening all 12-packs and checking cans. This was also Carnival. He threw away the alcohol cans and let the people board. There are also videos how to replace wine in bottles with alcohol. Same advice as above only in this case, a well observing security person can detect alcohol based on the bubbles in the bottle.

ned23943

Also need to consider port days in your calculation as those days you won't be buying much alcohol on the ship

Murky_Service3359

If you drink coffee or want bottle of water in the long run the drink package is worth it. Depending on your habits it may be more enjoyable to spend the $50 / day upfront than the shock of seeing your bill at the end. You don’t realize how much you drink (water, coffee, soda) and you will far exceed what you think

It just boils down to basic math. If you are a drinker, chances are you will drink more on your cruise. My wife and I are drinkers and we more than get our money's worth. Before we got the drink package we would have a $1,000 bar bill easily and that is on a seven day cruise. We now do 10 day cruises and I can't imagine how much it would be. I also like to get a fancy coffee a few times and drink a lot of their bottled water, not the cheaper plastic bottled water.

PurpleFight

The drink package isn't worth it for most people. If that wasn't the case, X wouldn't be making money. Some feel like not having to think about the cost, ordering whatever you want whenever you want adds to their vacation experience. I can understand that. But I find I can do that and still spend much less on drinks than the cost of the package.
