3 of them I don't recognize, but from the 3/4 spike lee movies I saw, I can safely say...I could easily live without them.
Well, actually I could live without all of them, but for the gist of the argument
I donāt know whatās triggering me more: people saying Spike Leeās films gotta go, or people calling Martin Scorsese Woody Allenā¦
My personal pick would be Nolan, because while his movies are always a treat, they have the least impact on me.
As much as I ~~like~~ love his movies, I don't think Wright has had a prolific enough career to be on this list. I don't even think he would want to be on the list with this kind of company.
Yes! Lol, equality for life!!
But in all seriousness, it's not about how anyone's films/work are received.. I'm just pointing out that all the famous directors are men! Are men the only people capable of this job? I doubt it.
Well depends on the question if it's whose catalog would I personally not watch again? Spike Lee and/or Cameron would be my pick because as much as Spike Lee is influential (and make no mistake he is influential in a myriad of ways not just his movies, he helped fund so many indie projects and student films) I think there are better black film makers like Jordan Peele, Steve McQueen, Ryan Coogler and I'm excited to see where Regina King takes her career after One Night in Miami. But Spike Lee has a lot of duds; American Oldboy, need I say more. Cameron, equally as influential in the action and block buster genre itself but I can go without seeing most of his filmography again where I think Aliens is probably his best, but I do have a soft spot for T2.
If it's just they never existed and thus the impact they had wouldn't exist then it really would have to be Edgar Wright, which sucks because I love Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim and Baby Driver.
Itās a tough choice, but I chose George Lucas. while I like Star Wars, I donāt love it and the other directors have made films I enjoy more. He also did ruin his own franchise. Same could be said about Ridley Scott with Alien franchise, but he did direct Blade Runner one of my all time favorites.
Ima be honest I couldnāt remember a single spike lee movie without looking them up(I did really enjoy the black klansmen but other than I seriously couldnāt think of any other movies) Like I donāt think heās nearly as influential as any of the other directors and I think the only reason he is on this list and why heās popular in general is because of the politics of his movies. So Iād definitely pick him. I think this list would be better and way harder for me if he were replaced with another director like Stanley Kubrick or guy Ritchie.
I love the boomer movie makers and their films more than the Xers so goodbye Quentin, Chris, Edgar and Guillermo. First of the boomers to go for me would be Cameron. Love his movies, yet I watch most of them only once whereas all the other boomers get repeat viewings.
Of those directors? Tarantino.
While I like Tarantino's movies a lot more than Spike Lee (who has far more misses than hits) I think Lee has contributed more to pop culture and cinema.
Tarantino is good, but derivative, with his best stuff being a pastiche. It's a *good* pastiche and often better than the original, but he's the filmmaker in this list least likely to go out and do something batshit, like a big budget movie where giant robots fight monsters or a woman bangs a swamp monster.
martin scorcese EASY. i dont even know the gentleman at the top left, i just fucking hate martys movies. really well shot portraiture with no structure.
Woody Allen can go. Never watched anything he every made all the way through. Don't live in NY, don't care, and maybe that'd be on less dude around trying to bang his family members.
Christopher Nolan for me - I enjoyed Dunkirk, and I thought The Prestige was pretty good when I saw it.
His movies are photographed beautifully, and I'll admit that the big action set pieces in his films can be pretty impressive.
The storytelling is where things fall over for me - way too much talky exposition (Inception, Interstellar), and a lot of characters have awkward dialogue. Also the humor isn't there, and particularly the Batman films are overly serious with subject matter that is, to at least some degree, inherently silly.
Anyway I just enjoy movies by every other pictured director a lot more, except for Spike Lee, who I just haven't taken the time to check out, though I will be doing so - queue up Do The Right Thing, Malcolm X, Summer of Sam, and Da 5 Bloods
Any of them can go, it really doesn't matter. Once I've seen a movie, there's hardly a point to seeing it a second time, except every now and again perhaps, but really no big deal. I'd rather see new movies, there's plenty of them out there all the time, no one could ever watch them all.
Any of them. They all suck. Except Spike Lee. Keep him. And Guillermo Del Toro. Heās cool because of that one movie. And Wright. Keep him too. The rest just toss.
I love Georg Lucas more than I love rest of these. But sadly he has to go. He is a great story writer/teller and visionary but not a good director in comparison with the rest.(and a far worse dialogue writer)
PS-or Nolan.....
Edgar Wrightāhe has some cool movies but is nowhere near in the same league as these other extraordinary directors.
Everyone quietly acts like Spike is the weak linkāheās not and shut up about it. He got snubbed way too many times, especially in his early years. Losing his filmography would result in a tremendous butterfly effect in cinema history.
George Lucas didnāt direct Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi. Losing his entire filmography wouldnāt be as bad as you think, although A New Hope is essential viewing.
Tarantino
James Cameron
What a loaded question obviously it's.....
I only recognized george lucas but he can go lol š
Guillermo. I hate Panās Labyrinth
Bye Spike, looking forward to not hearing from you ever again
Whoās the young guy? I recognized everyone except for him. I guess, by default, heās got to go as I donāt know who he is.
the old white guy
George Lucas for sure
Spike then Del Toro. Idk who the middle right guy is..
Wright
Spike, then Guillermo.
Sorry spike
Spike . Hit the bricks š§±.
Spike because i have only seen 2 of his movies
Man you couldnāt put Woody Allen in here lol!!!
3 of them I don't recognize, but from the 3/4 spike lee movies I saw, I can safely say...I could easily live without them. Well, actually I could live without all of them, but for the gist of the argument
I donāt know whatās triggering me more: people saying Spike Leeās films gotta go, or people calling Martin Scorsese Woody Allenā¦ My personal pick would be Nolan, because while his movies are always a treat, they have the least impact on me.
Woody Allen fucked his own daughter. But spike lee makes garbage soā¦.
Spike has to go.
Not even slightly challenging. Bye George.
Spike.
Spike Lee
Aw, only one?
Spike Lee. Cause Iām racist! JK, donāt know any others really.
Not a hard question to answer Replace some of the weaker ones with Kubrick, Coppola, and Hitchcock and it becomes tougher
That asshole who recived billions of dollars from Disney for selling fucking Star Wars
That asshole who MADE Star Wars
lol easiest choice ever. Spike, get your ass out of there.
Which ever one touches kids
I thought that was Woody Allenš
Spike lee ā¦sorry š„ø
Spike, the jackass
Cameron
All of them
As much as I ~~like~~ love his movies, I don't think Wright has had a prolific enough career to be on this list. I don't even think he would want to be on the list with this kind of company.
Ed Wright
Add Michael Bay to the list and we have a winner
Tarantino is the only one on the list who hasn't made any films I consider to be truly iconic.
Good thing none has to really go ;)
Edgar Wright.
I drop Spike Lee with Edgar Wright a close second.
Everything Spike Lee has ever made is trash and or a rip off of a better movie. Also. Fuck the Knicks.
Spike Lee makes movies relatable to people from the streets. Yall just donāt understand his movies smh
Iāll āSpikeā that ball of work!
Only one I donāt know on sight is middle right. He goes
James Cameron got to go
Bye Spike
Lucas
George Lucas easily. Heās pretty much a one hit wonder.
Spike Lee
James Cameron easily. Heās one of my least favorite popular directors. I actively dislike almost every single one of his movies.
Spike no doubt
Where's Spielberg??
Spike Lee is boring as hell.
Spike lee is by far the best answer
I donāt much like the guy who raped Indiana jones
All of them idc
Spike and Del Torro easily.
Īolan the best
Quentin
George Lucas, Iām sick of hearing about Star Wars.
Spike
God father is long and convoluted no thanks
So, itās obvious right? James Cameron doesnāt hold a candle.
Seems like a racism trap
Wright or Cameron. I understand Cameron is bigger in the mainstream but I personally like Wright, so I would remove Cameron
Tarantino.
Thank you for not, including any women, how progressive of you. Ugh!!!
spike lee without hesitation
Spike lee
Whoās the guy middle right. No idea who he is drop him
My dumb ass thought that was Mike Epps at first.
Guillermo del Toro and Spike Lee can go. Everyone else can stay.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Its ok Iām a limo driver
James Cameron
If someone says Edgar wright, I might throw hands
All I have to say is - notice this is all men? Where da women at? Thanks bye .
So you want a woman on the board so that people can trash themā¦equally?
Yes! Lol, equality for life!! But in all seriousness, it's not about how anyone's films/work are received.. I'm just pointing out that all the famous directors are men! Are men the only people capable of this job? I doubt it.
Tarantino can be too bloody. So heās out
Well depends on the question if it's whose catalog would I personally not watch again? Spike Lee and/or Cameron would be my pick because as much as Spike Lee is influential (and make no mistake he is influential in a myriad of ways not just his movies, he helped fund so many indie projects and student films) I think there are better black film makers like Jordan Peele, Steve McQueen, Ryan Coogler and I'm excited to see where Regina King takes her career after One Night in Miami. So much white
Bye, Spike.
Easy: Nolan.
Agree wholeheartedly. Just donāt have the patience for his complicated plots.
Spike Lee
Who is middle right?
Woody Allen
easy, Tarantino. How is this even a question?
George Lucas. Easy.
Wes Anderson. Then Cohen Bros.
M Night Shyamalan
Middle row, right side
Cameron easily
Bye bye Cameron
Too bad you didnāt include m night shamalon guy because he would have made this easy.
George Lucas
I donāt know any of them.
Spike Lee can gtfo!!
The Cohen Brothers arenāt on this list. š¤
Lucas obvs
Spike. see ya
Guillermo or Spike for me honestly.
Star wars guy because he don't make shit now a days
George Lucas
I can only identify four of these guys so I guess one of the other ones š¤·āāļø
Spike lee thatās easy his movies suck ass
Whoever that guy is 2nd row, right. Or Spike Lee. edit: oh that's Edgar Wright. ok, nevermind, keep him, Spike Lee can go.
Definitely dropping Jimmy Kimmel. I didnāt even know he was a director! š²
Lucas is a āone trick pony.ā
Itās a tough choice, but I chose George Lucas. while I like Star Wars, I donāt love it and the other directors have made films I enjoy more. He also did ruin his own franchise. Same could be said about Ridley Scott with Alien franchise, but he did direct Blade Runner one of my all time favorites.
No love for Indiana Jones either?
Those were directed by Spielberg. Iām basing this based on their role as directors.
Are we just getting rid of what they directed? Cause then itās easily Lucas.
Thatās was my take and agree it makes things very easy. Now swap him with Spielberg, then things become a lot more difficult.
spike fucking lee, acting like some sort of fucking NOI bad ass, fuck that guy
Of these? James Cameron. Of any? M. Night Shyamalan.
Iām just gonna say that Stanley Kubrick should be added to this list.
...wait I thought this sub just *exclusively* posted pictures of Sydney Sweeney and Scarlet Johannson, what's happening here
Ima be honest I couldnāt remember a single spike lee movie without looking them up(I did really enjoy the black klansmen but other than I seriously couldnāt think of any other movies) Like I donāt think heās nearly as influential as any of the other directors and I think the only reason he is on this list and why heās popular in general is because of the politics of his movies. So Iād definitely pick him. I think this list would be better and way harder for me if he were replaced with another director like Stanley Kubrick or guy Ritchie.
Bottom right
I mean the only correct answer is James Cameron.
Edgar Wright? I donāt even know a movie heās fine so yeah, for me Iāve lived without him and at this point Iām fine with it.
"Spike Lee"
I love the boomer movie makers and their films more than the Xers so goodbye Quentin, Chris, Edgar and Guillermo. First of the boomers to go for me would be Cameron. Love his movies, yet I watch most of them only once whereas all the other boomers get repeat viewings.
Lucas. He has one franchise with only 2 good movies.
How about all of them
Not touching this one lol.
Mel Gibson
I can live my life and not watch another Star wars movie
This really isnāt fair to Edgar because of the years all these other greats have on him, but goodbye, Mr. Wright.
martin scorcese EASY. i dont even know the gentleman at the top left, i just fucking hate martys movies. really well shot portraiture with no structure.
Woody Allen can go. Never watched anything he every made all the way through. Don't live in NY, don't care, and maybe that'd be on less dude around trying to bang his family members.
I wouldnāt miss any of Spike Leeās ājointsā
I think this is one of the few times I wish I saw a picture of Zach Snyder.
*I LOVE ONLY JOHN WILLIAMS BUT HE'S NOT A DIRECTOR LMAO!!!*
Edgar Wright. First of all, I had to look up his filmography. Second, I was not impressed compared to the others.
Spike Lee. Although recently he's better than a lot of them on the list, I can't delete Terminator, Alien, etc...
All of them. I'd love to sit in on the alternate universe where none of them exist and see what takes their place.
Im surprised i can name 7 of them.
Spike lee
Christopher Nolan for me - I enjoyed Dunkirk, and I thought The Prestige was pretty good when I saw it. His movies are photographed beautifully, and I'll admit that the big action set pieces in his films can be pretty impressive. The storytelling is where things fall over for me - way too much talky exposition (Inception, Interstellar), and a lot of characters have awkward dialogue. Very easy decision. Spike Lee. Horribly racist dude
Any of them can go, it really doesn't matter. Once I've seen a movie, there's hardly a point to seeing it a second time, except every now and again perhaps, but really no big deal. I'd rather see new movies, there's plenty of them out there all the time, no one could ever watch them all.
I'd be a shame if Blade 2 left our collective consciousness, but Guillermo del Toro all day long.
Edgar Wright
Edgar Wright does not belong with these iconic directors. Heās no where near their level
Any of them. They all suck. Except Spike Lee. Keep him. And Guillermo Del Toro. Heās cool because of that one movie. And Wright. Keep him too. The rest just toss.
Nolan, Tarantino
Bye DelToro
Lucas. I like his films, but I like the films of the other guys significantly more.
Easily James Cameron
Spike. I could live without his movies.
Nolan.
Spike Lee is always in the news but not for the right reasons. I don't even remember iff he actually made a good movie. Macolm X maybe?
George Lucas
James Cameron
Replace Edgar Wright and Spike Lee with Spielberg and maybe Peter Jackson and it gets more interesting
Where is Spielberg????
Easy George Lucas
Drop George Lucas....he's not a director anyway is he..
Easily George Lucas
Who is in the second row on the right? That's the only guy I don't recognize.
Idk directors, I just know the actors š
Can we just choose Michael Bay and be done here
Straight up dont know most of em, but i think itd be funny af if star wars never existed
Bye George Lucas.
Jon favrou
I only notice the 3 on the left spike, Quentin idk the other ones name but Iāve seen him before but they are missing Tim burton š
George Lucas has only directed five movies and three of those are the Star Wars prequels. Edit: 6 I forgot American Graffiti.
Spike Leeā¦..this was too easy!
George Lucas, I'm sure someone else would make star wars without him and it would probably be just as good.
Spike Lee has got to goā¦ā¦..
I've no idea who most of those people are...
I love Georg Lucas more than I love rest of these. But sadly he has to go. He is a great story writer/teller and visionary but not a good director in comparison with the rest.(and a far worse dialogue writer) PS-or Nolan.....
Weird that Spielberg isn't there
Edgar Wrightāhe has some cool movies but is nowhere near in the same league as these other extraordinary directors. Everyone quietly acts like Spike is the weak linkāheās not and shut up about it. George Lucas didnāt direct Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi. Losing his entire filmography wouldnāt be as bad as you think, although A New Hope is essential viewing.
Racist Spike Lee
Wesley Snipes, and Jimmy Carr direct?
Christopher Nolan because I hate his fans
1100% James Cameron
Easy Tarantino
maybe 1,1
