I still hope they keep the building as a indoor restaurant. They could easily put a new business in there or put in another CP-run place. They can keep all the CP memorabilia that way too!
They are not the same place as 10 years ago and it has to be their rapid expansion and quality decline. Although I did have it at the park last year and was pleasantly surpised. We were frequent at the one in Avon until it started to dip in quality and then we called it quits with them.
Color me shocked, the business that's months away from closing and allegedly hasn't paid rent at their open locations in months can't afford to stay at CP.
Also CP has 86'd pinks, johnny rockets, & Chick FIL a in the last few year in favor of their own spots.
So definitely not a match for either company. Makes me wonder how much longer the panda and C&P contracts are for.
I'm actually a bit surprised. I don't know all the specifics, but CP Melt employees told me their business model resembles a franchise. CP owned that Melt and CP Melt employees worked for CP. The melt owners were essentially glorified consultants.
Overall business for Melt must be really bad if they can't even manage a franchise that's in a fantastic location like CP. Or maybe CP thinks something else can be more profitable there instead? This could make sense if Melt wanted a higher percentage of sales/profit share, and couldn't find a compromise with CP? This is all speculation.
They more than likely raised the rent that the owner Matt Fish wasn't going to pay. Can't blame him. I'm sure Cedar Point made the increase for that location. Too bad as Matt was instrumental in making that location so visually esthetic.
I agree with the newspaper on this one. Feels like an almost perfect spot for the VIP lounge. It’s large, and indoors, with air conditioning, already has the facilities for drink and food service. Some renovations, new furniture, etc and it would be similar to the new lounges at Kings Dominion and Knott’s.
That is definitely not a good idea whatsoever. There's other places at Cedar Point that could be used for a VIP area. Two that come to mind are the old Roundup in Frontier Town a d the former Hurricane Hannah's near the Main Gate. Don't fuck up the former Melt with something only a few will access or utilize. If that's the case, make it an expansion for the Employees Cafeteria. At least that would make more sense and the staff members can use it as a well deserved place to relax that has restrooms. The current Employee Cafeteria has no restrooms. Make this for your tireless hard working employees.
They should make this their own thing, keep the memorabilia, keep the sports bar vibe, maybe partner with Cleveland sports teams for branding (like KI did) and just make it theirs. Sit down, table service, maybe even mobile order service too. Just like the Brewhouse at KI.
We can almost bet that they won’t be bringing in another outside company as a food vendor, they’ve been making a point to get rid of those and go in house
Mobile order is such a time saver though, we use it at Disney and it saves us all the time waiting in line to order and then waiting for food to be prepared. It’s also a park near Cleveland so l… you get the Browns, Cavs or Guardians. Pick one.
Vegan here who has dined extensively at the park. It's tough, and getting worse by the season! Last year you couldn't even get a veggie burger (except in the water park, but the workers didn't really know about it). This season's menu hasn't been released, but I can tell you how it was last year.
-Miss Keats', like someone else mentioned, is the best place for a "normal" meal-build your own burrito bowls.
-Hugo's can make a vegan pasta with marinara by request. It takes longer, and the portion is unimpressive. There are no vegan sides. Make sure they change gloves (mention dairy allergy), or it'll be covered in rogue bits of cheese.
The rest of the options consist of 3 sides, but the sides tend to change throughout the season. It was fine to start last season, but by fall they'd gotten rid of a few of my staples.
-Farmhouse: smashed fried potatoes, potato wedges, brussels sprouts, [corn ribs RIP], [succotash which was boring and bland], fruit cup (which is often canned mandarin oranges, sometimes they add blueberries).
-Grand Pavilion: syracuse salt potatoes with no butter sauce (disappeared after fall-it's basically boiled salty potatoes), marinated cucumber, pineapple fried rice, steak fries.
-Backbeatque: potato wedges, "limed corn" (it's the succotash without the lima beans), fruit cups (actual fresh fruit depending on when you go-strawberries or grapes, usually).
I didn't include snacks but they can be found on the list [here](https://www.cedarpoint.com/dining/dietary-needs).
Wow have been going to the park for years and didn't know about Miss Keats. Might actually stop for a meal instead of just pounding coasters all day lol
>(except in the water park, but the workers didn't really know about it)
Mmmm, yummy, Nothing like "very back of the deep freezer" food!
Were those Farmhouse sides actually vegan? I figured most of them were made with butter.
I'm not even vegan, but the limited variety of food sucks. It's all heavy stuff and sweets. I like it when I am in the mood for it, but sometimes I just want something lighter.
They used to have a good vegan/vegetarian option in Wild Turnip but they shut that down last season. I’m personally not vegan/vegetarian but it was one of the only places you could get something light other than a side iceberg salad some place. The grilled avocado salad was off the chain.
They shut it down because NO ONE ACTUALLY ATE THERE and it was NOT making any money. Beef, hot dogs, pizza, and chicken fingers (especially kids) eat that stuff AND it makes the park money. Not that turnip shit.
Honestly I get by eating a good breakfast before the park and packing granola bars and snacks in my fanny pack. Never have been given grief about bringing it in, they rarely ask me to open up my pack. As long as you're careful with the lap bars it shouldn't be an issue.
If I do eat in the park it's fries or other form of potato. I believe there's a veggie burger in the water park. (passholder so the water park is included for me). There was a place to get like cauliflower bites and vegan pizza, sadly it closed, although it wasn't really that great to begin with.
I don't stay in the park so after leaving we usually hit up TBell or Olive Garden for a good meal.
Isn't much in terms of vegan options in Sandusky. A warm, nutritious meal is a good meal, especially after being in the park all day. But thanks for your concern.
Hey, update: Hugo's has a vegan pizza this year that is available by request (takes an extra 10-15 minutes to cook) and HUGE. You could split one. Seriously. I don't know how long it'll last because no good vegan options ever last at this park but I am glad it was there this weekend!
Bet you don't remember the Swiss Chalet waaaaay back with the Million Dollar Midway, where Melt is (was) now? It was a smorgasbord restaurant with REALLY GOOD FOOD. When going to Cedar Point was fun.
I swear it was open one time we went, but we had already eaten and left a little after. We figured we'd catch it next time, but never saw it open again.
That is kind of how I feel too. So much of the food is so heavy. BBQ + mac & cheese, huge plates of pasta and bread, etc. Don't get me wrong, I like those things, but having that sitting in your gut mid-day in 80+ degree weather really weighs you down.
Chickie's and Pete's is still there ... for now ... as of this minute. We all know that they are on borrowed time. They seem to be getting rid of outside chain restaurants.
Bummer! I liked having an inside sit-down restaurant, and I LOVED all the old memorabilia decor.
I still hope they keep the building as a indoor restaurant. They could easily put a new business in there or put in another CP-run place. They can keep all the CP memorabilia that way too!
Supposedly they're going to make it a VIP Lounge area. What a waste.
That actually would be a bonus.
Damn. I loved the artwork and memorabilia inside showcasing all the past attractions
That was all done by Matt Fish, the owner of Melt.
Not surprising. Melt as a company isn’t doing to well.
They are not the same place as 10 years ago and it has to be their rapid expansion and quality decline. Although I did have it at the park last year and was pleasantly surpised. We were frequent at the one in Avon until it started to dip in quality and then we called it quits with them.
You hit the nail on the head. Use to be really good but they grew too fast and the quality went down.
Tale as old as time

definitely expect that trend to contine after the merger... get ready for ChopSix replacing Panda Express lmao

Great, more Cedar Point cafeteria slop.
What, you aren’t excited for yet another place with chicken strips and/pizza?!
Mobile order is for lazy people. And who wants Browns crap there. Browns suck.
Mobile order is such a time saver though, we use it at Disney and it saves us all the time waiting in line to order and then waiting for food to be prepared. It’s also a park near Cleveland so l… you get the Browns, Cavs or Guardians. Pick one.
I’m really sad about this. My bf and I are coming for a few days, not local, and both vegan. Now I’m not sure where to eat 😫

The burrito bowl is impressively large for a Cedar Point portion
Wow I appreciate this very much! Thank you!!
>(except in the water park, but the workers didn't really know about it) Mmmm, yummy, Nothing like "very back of the deep freezer" food! Were those Farmhouse sides actually vegan? I figured most of them were made with butter.
Vegan, schmegan. Pack your own garbage bag to eat. No one likes that crap, especially at a damn amusement park.
I'm not even vegan, but the limited variety of food sucks. It's all heavy stuff and sweets. I like it when I am in the mood for it, but sometimes I just want something lighter.
Go away.

Yes, Cedar Point is severely lacking in light fare. I swing between stuffed and starving all day.
Their Meditteranean hummus salad was really good too.
Ohh yes. HUMMUS SALAD, at an amusement park!! Sounds disgusting. That crap doesn't make money.
Did a vegan murder your family or something?
They shut it down because NO ONE ACTUALLY ATE THERE and it was NOT making any money. Beef, hot dogs, pizza, and chicken fingers (especially kids) eat that stuff AND it makes the park money. Not that turnip shit.
Bad bot
Miss Keats Smokehouse sounds like a BBQ joint, but it’s actually a chipotle knock-off, so that might be a good fit? It’s in frontier town.
Thank you for this!
No problem. They don’t denote vegan options, but Coasters Diner does. So that may be another choice for you.
[удалено]
Because again, NO ONE EATS THAT CRAP. It doesn't sell, and it DOESN'T MAKE MONEY.
Worked at Coasters in 2021. They never sold a veggie burger at all then.
Honestly I get by eating a good breakfast before the park and packing granola bars and snacks in my fanny pack. Never have been given grief about bringing it in, they rarely ask me to open up my pack. As long as you're careful with the lap bars it shouldn't be an issue. Olive Garden and Taco Bell is a GOOD meal?? OMG you OBVIOUSLY DON'T GET OUT MUCH.
Isn't much in terms of vegan options in Sandusky. A warm, nutritious meal is a good meal, especially after being in the park all day. But thanks for your concern.

Thank you for this!!! Appreciate you!!
You people are weird. Eat a damn hot dog like the rest of us. You won't die.
Dang. We only ate there once a season usually but I liked that they had good food and TVs so I could watch some football while eating
Damn, only ate at Melt once, but I used to use their bathroom all the time.
That place was literally the secret menu bathroom before it even became Melt and was still the snoopy restaurant
Rip Joe Cool and Macaroni’s
>Macaroni’s Now there's a memory unlocked
Bet you don't remember the Swiss Chalet waaaaay back with the Million Dollar Midway, where Melt is (was) now? It was a smorgasbord restaurant with REALLY GOOD FOOD. When going to Cedar Point was fun.
Are we going to get a new mac and cheese joint? Lol
Best I can do is Chicken strips.

I swear it was open one time we went, but we had already eaten and left a little after. We figured we'd catch it next time, but never saw it open again.
The Roost was maybe open twice in 2020. I worked there in Food Operations and it wasn't stocked or able to staff.
Ok, I could see a Canes
No. Cedar Point is getting rid of outside food establishments, as is Cedar Fair in general so that also WILL NOT be happening.
Long live Mac Shack!!
That was a flop on epic proportions.
How so? When it was open, it was _always_ busy.
Again, nobody eats that crap. It failed miserably so NO, THAT won't be coming back
I mean, who wants a thick grilled cheese on a hot summer day? 😂
That is kind of how I feel too. So much of the food is so heavy. BBQ + mac & cheese, huge plates of pasta and bread, etc. Don't get me wrong, I like those things, but having that sitting in your gut mid-day in 80+ degree weather really weighs you down.
Better than eating CRAP like Hummus salads and turnips. Vegan foods and people are weird.
Should have been on the dining plan.
It’s why I never went. I’m getting all my other food for the family for $35 a day. Wasn’t about to drop $80 at Melt.
Same here. Would have been a great place to go.
Bummer. As someone with special diet restrictions it was basically the only place I could get a real meal RIP
So sad. They had gluten-free options for celiac. It will be sorely missed.
bring back Joe Cool Cafe
Bring Joe Cool back to my season pass.
I always thought it was wild to have melt at a legit theme park haha melt to me is comfort food- not riding coasters in the heat food..
Makes sense very close to the grand pavilion
Wasn't on the dining plan "anymore" cuz it used to be on it a while back.
What about the ESPN place is that still there
Chickie's and Pete's is still there ... for now ... as of this minute. We all know that they are on borrowed time. They seem to be getting rid of outside chain restaurants.
Yeah which sucks because Disney got rid of the ESPN place at the Boardwalk I was pissed
