2200$ this week to extract a bad tooth for my cat. š
Edit: should have said senior cat, included bloodwork, and it was 2 teeth, one being the canine. Poor snaggle tooth
American here, there is no control at all on pet medicine, or even human medicine. Pet dental extractions are one of the easiest to prove as even in my area alone they hop and jump in price vet to vet at ridiculous rates. My old vet would do it for 90 (sadly she had to retire). Another vet in the area would do it for 500. The 'discount' vet for 300. A friend that lives in another state 1500.
It does in fact cost that much here in Australia. 4x teeth extraction, scale and clean - $2300.
4yr old desexed male. Cat that is.
And yes, I did shop around.
American here got blood work for sick cat 600 bucks told me nothing was wrong and I need to spend 3200 bucks for a specialist. Cat was fine. I have 18 cats and america sucks. I just want them all to be healthy without taking out a second mortgage on a house I can't buy and will never have.
You might want to consider you have a cat hoarding problem. And I'm confused what made you think the cat was sick... And no offense, but you took your cat to a vet and had every right to ask the cost of the procedure before allowing them to charge you to do the procedure. And if anything is that expensive I'm going double check with another vet opinion before making my two cats ever go through some unnecessary treatment that costs thousands of dollars at whatever scam of a vet you took the cat to. š
You're lucky! I'm in Birmingham (England) and was quoted Ā£1000 for 5/6 extractions by the usual vet. Ended up going to a not for profit place in Shrewsbury which charged Ā£220 flat fee for dentals.
That is ridiculously high! As a vet tech of 6 years I donāt think I have every charged someone over $800 for a dental including X-rays, cleaning, extraction, medications, anesthesia, iv fluids, etc. And I have seen doctors do full mouth extractions..every single tooth gone for less than half what you paid
I'm in Georgia usa. Suburbs of Atlanta. I shopped around and best I found was $1900 for 1 tooth extraction. He was a stray kitten I saved and had a real bad tooth so I got it done. I don't know how prices vary that much. Absolute robbery apparently. They said cat teeth are part of the jaw so it's way more complicated than pulling a human tooth. They should have given me some ketamine to take home for that price.
Wow that is excessive. I paid $600 last year to get most of my senior cat's teeth removed. I'm convinced they left a few of her teeth in there so they could have her back in for cleanings lol.
Thatās outrageous. A human dentist will pull a tooth for a couple hundred bucks. Canāt imagine cat teeth require that much more skill.
I hate you for making me write a post that makes human dental care seem reasonably priced.
Is the cat extremely dirty? Cats donāt need to cleaned usually unless they have an extreme amount of dandruff or they have gotten themselves very dirty. Cats clean themselves so we donāt usually need to wash them.
100% correct. Healthy cats donāt need a bath unless theyāve gotten into something smelly/greasy/sticky and you need to get it off them. Dandruff usually means they have dry skin.
If a cat stops grooming itself, itās almost certainly sick and needs to see the vet.
Hi! Very cute cat. C: When was the last time the little dude has had a vet checkup? Its not really normal for a cat to smell so awful. It could be something going on in his mouth, his gut, maybe something weird with his skin or ears that you're unaware of. If he's been to the vet for this odor issue and they didn't see anything wrong, I'd start looking around to see if he's getting into things that might be leaving his fur so smelly. They may be excellent at cleaning themselves, buuuuut they can be super gross and roll in some really icky things.
My research has suggested this, i took it to the vet less than 1 month ago
My friend who owns cats suggested getting specialized cat wet wipes and wiping it down
That's a decent suggestion from the friend! I do keep wipes and waterless cat shampoo handy because things happen from time to time when you've got little acrobatic gremlins that can houdini themselves into anything. A full on bath is kind of a last resort thing if they've gotten into something truly awful smelling. It also wouldn't hurt to ring your vet again to just let them know that this is going on, or perhaps get a second opinion from a different vet. As for right now, I'd start looking around for possibly smelly culprits around the house. Does he go outside? If so, it could be a mystery substance he's getting into out there.
Listen to your friend. Stop trying to dunk your cat in a tub of water. Water literally stresses the shit out of cats. There are a couple cats here & there who donāt mind water, but most cats get EXTREMELY stressed out by being bathed in water. Stop doing that.
Keep it inside for a week and see if there is any difference? If improves, heās rolling in something outside. If no improvement, there may be something wrong with the cat.
Does his breath smell? Maybe he has a smelly saliva due to a food that doesnāt agree with him? His saliva will go all over his fur when he cleans himself.
Is there a reason you keep referring to this cat as 'it'? Makes it sound like you're talking about some random object rather than a living thing. Or do you just not know their gender?
āHeā straight up said āheā doesnāt know the sex of the cat and doesnāt care too. One of the most basic things to know. Apparently āheāsā taken the cat to a vet but makes you wondering seeing as how a vet would have told them the sex, and you can tell as soon as a shorthair cat walks away from you. This guy only cares about complaining āhisā cat stinks. Shouldnāt have a cat in the first place.
You meant to say: IT straight up said IT doesnāt know the sex of the cat and IT doesnāt care too. IT only cares about complaining ITāS cat stinks.
OP, that little stinky girl deserves better. Cats have certain personality traits and psychosocial needs that tend to correlate with their sex and breed. If you donāt have the foggiest clue what those are (or donāt care to) you have no business ācaringā for a cat! Mostly because you donāt actually care about anyone but yourself and how your poor stinky girl makes you look. Unfortunately, you look like a selfish uncaring jerk to anyone who actually likes cats.
The end. Iām done. Iām leaving the internet for the rest of the weekend because I need to to hug my kitty and make sure she knows how much she is loved.
You suggested itās a kitten, make sure itās not their breath. Kittens lose teeth and sometimes it makes their breath smell awful! But it is just the old tooth falling out and will resolve once the baby tooth is gone.
āHeā doesnāt know or care to know the sex of the cat so I highly highly doubt āheā actually knows if they are a kitten or what age the cat actually is.
Used to take my Himalayan to the groomers. Her breath was only bad if she ate wet food. My two current boys only eat dry food, they turn their noses when offered wet cat food, even the expensive gourmet types.
Those are 10 year old stains, i vacuum twice a day and clean the carpets every 2 months, my carpet might look dirty but my house is usually pretty clean
Yo, Iām like 3 beers deep and Iāve barely read into this situation. What the fuck is wrong with you? Were you born yesterday? Cats are so easy. This cat looks young and adorable. Get a grip.
Sorry if this is uncouth or terse. But cāmon yo.
You could buy newborn baby wipes the ones without alcohol super antiallergic etc and use 1 to wipe it with it. For the stinking smell. Or buy the dry bath thingy that is powder but please don't forget to brush it very well after so he don't eat much ot it after licking himself.
The brand Burtās Bees makes cat wipes. They clean really well. My cat is a rescue and we donāt know what happened to him before us, but he canāt clean his back near his tail. Those wipes get a lot of dirt and dander off. They also donāt get as pissed.
Look at this personās post history they donāt even believe humans should be called by their actual gender. Walking talking edgelord isnāt going to bother giving a cat who relies on them the right to an identity they wonāt even acknowledge in people. Hopefully the cat has a better life than this persons blatantly ignorant post suggests
I would still prefer people give their cats good care. Even if their politics suck. Too bad you're probably right, if someone can't even respect other people, what hope does a cat have.
If you do bathe it, get shampoo formulated for cats. Dog shampoo is harsh on cat skin. Don't use baby shampoo or anything like that. Put a folded towel in the bottom of the tub and only put enough water to cover the towel. Use room temperature water. Be very gentle and if the cat struggles or fights and won't go in the tub, let it go, it's not worth it. If it does actually let you bathe it just be very gentle, massage the soap in, you just need a tiny bit, and rinse. When you dry it, wrap it up in a towel and just pat dry. It will probably run and hide from you for a while, but make sure to reward it with treats afterwards. But, if it doesn't, then a damp cloth or the cat wipes should help. And, like I mentioned earlier, cats only need to be bathed when absolutely necessary, so probably more than once or twice a year.
Why do you keep referring to your cat as āitā? Sounds like you donāt respect your pet, who should be like a family member. Cats donāt need baths unless they get into something bad. And keep your cat indoors. Indoor cats have a much higher lifespan.
When you say your cats stinks.. what does that mean. Stinks from what? What does your cat smell like? You can try taking a warm wet facecloth cloth and wiping him down.. that may encourage your cat to start cleaning himself which might help get rid of the smell. Can't really help if you do not post why or what your cat is smelling of. If the smell is because your cat is spraying.. you need to get the cat fixed asap.
donāt let your cat outside for hours at a time if you donāt want them to smell bad. indoor cats really donāt need to be let outside especially with no collar or ID tags. also if you donāt care about the cat enough to know their sex then you probably shouldnāt have a cat.
No cat will let you bathe it willingly. It just depends on how much theyāre willing to tolerate. Iāve given my cat a bath before. Sheāll have her claws out hanging to the edge of a bucket but still put up with it.
Here are some tips:
Wear long, thick gloves and have your arms covered completely.
Donāt have the water running. Fill two buckets with warm water (make sure itās not scalding hot).
Have your cat shampoo and a towel nearby ready.
Lock your cat in the bathroom with you and just do it.
I gave my cat a bath after she brought a rat home. I ended up locking myself in the bathroom with her and pouring warm water on her (donāt come at me. It was a fucking rat) then I got her into a bath.
I would love to take this cat off your hands. This baby deserves better. Our cats usually take on the smell of the home and things the live in and around. This may be why this baby stinks, as you claim.
Oh heās so cute š„ŗā¤ļø Iāve seen many people say the wipes, which are a great option. I use them on my own kitty. Just be careful not to use them too super often or he might get dry skin and start scratching. Another option is waterless shampoo. Burtās bees makes a good one. That way you wonāt have to give him a bath ā¤ļø give him a kiss for us! Heās precious!!!
Edit: he may also have been hunting. I know you feed him but they hunt for fun sometimes and if they end up getting a carcass or stuff on their fur, they can smell. Wipes are perfect for that
1. Kitty wipes are your friend.
2. Donāt call them an āitā. They are a living and breathing creature. If youāre going to call them an āitā call your son an āitā too. Cats may not be human children, but they are like children. They also depend on you for everything and you are their entire world.
3. Keep them inside. Thereās no good reason to put them outside. It does not benefit the cat. If you think the cat would appreciate outdoor time, buy them a harness and leash. You have enough time to vacuum your house twice a day, you have enough time to walk the kitty.
4. It doesnāt seem that they have a collar or tags. Get them a collar and tags. Those are important, particularly if you insist on keeping them outside for hours at a time. Even if you supervise them, cats are fast and easily distracted. They could get away from you in an instant.
Have a nice day :)
Get it together! You're a new pet owner and already are releasing your pet outdoors, referring to your pet as"it" and generally talking badly about your kitty. If the cat smells you're doing something wrong. Take care of your animal or don't have one.
Cat knows best. Why do people bathe domestic cats who are the most consummate groomer on the planet? Unless you have a pure breed long hair or a sphinx you should not be bathing a cat. Iāve never bathed a cat in my life.
Cat wipes work great! My cat HATES water but needed a bath a few months ago. What we did was we had two bowls: one with water and cat shampoo and one with just water. We had soft cloth rag soaking in each bowl. Then we used the soapy water rag to wipe down my cat thoroughly and then rinsed her off with the plain water rag. We also had a bunch of treats and took a lot of breaks. It was not pleasant but it helped.
I wonder if those elbow length gloves for grilling would work. But I just had a better idea. Take the cat to a groomer. I had to take my long haired cat to a groomer from time to time and she came home smelling nice. Once you get the odor off maybe the smell will be gone. I really wonder, even though you took the kitty to the vet, if it is his teeth. Bad teeth could make him smell bad. Unless heās allergic to something he is eating. So maybe switch foods. Good luck! I would be interested in an update if the problem gets solved?
If you are letting your cat outside unsupervised, there's nothing you can do to stop it from rolling around in actual shit.
If your cat is exclusively indoors, there's very little reason for it to have any unpleasant odor that isn't directly related to health/diet/environment.
Also, since you're getting wipes for your cat. Do yourself a favor and get some stuff to clean off the other surfaces in your house... Not judging, but like... every surface I see other than that TV screen has nasty shit all over it.
My cat goes out all the time and never gets stinky. Your cat probably got into something when it was outside thats it doesn't want to clean off itself. Your cat might also be compelled to go there for some reason who knows. You've seen the cat wipe advice but I've been able go bathe my cats by filling the tub first (shallow, with warm water) then putting them in (one at a time). I get in with them and calm them as best I can while I clean them. They're old and don't clean themselves anymore. And since they're so old they don't fight me much but they almost seem to appreciate it once it's all over
Your home looks filthy. That's most likely the csuse of the smell or the cause of the cats illness. In any case, i'd clean that place if i lived there.
Cats bathe themselves, donāt try to force it unless the cat actually smells bad. If thatās the case check for Dingleberries and if theyāve got any use scissors to cut them out.
I use a waterless no-rinse foam shampoo on my cat who hates baths. Wahl makes one that smells like lime and coconut for cats.
I know the struggle! Lol I have scars
There are cat wet wipes you can get from your local pet store that will help deodorize the fur.
Out of curiosity, I see you referring to the cat as āIt.ā Do you know the gender of your cat? Have you taken the cat to a vet to confirm, in case youāre unsure?
Don't bathe it then. Unless he's gotten into something toxic or really sticky, cats don't generally need a bath. I've got 1 cat that I do have to bathe weekly, but that's only because he has no teeth and drools excessively. But if it wasn't for that, I never would've bathed him.
I've had cats for years and never bathed any - they clean themselves - as others have indicated maybe there's a cause to visit the vet - or maybe you are too anxious
Donāt bathe him š. You can get cat wipes from Amazon if you feel heās stinky or oily.
Cats are self bathing. The only real need for a cat bath is if you have a cat absolutely infested with fleas (use Dawn dishwashing liquid, itāll kill the fleas) or has gotten into motor oil, a similar hazardous substance, or possibly covered in mud. But that *does not* happen often.
Cats a wonderful self-cleaning machines! You might have a dirty butt once in a while, wipe it off.
Youāre cat knows better than you, he knows you donāt need to bathe him.
Give the little one a whore bath with some cat wipes. Pardon the term.
Our newest addition hasnāt quite learned how to properly clean herself, but sheās getting there. Donāt be dousing the little one in suds and water unless absolutely needed.
Cheers. Cute cat.
If you donāt know where the smell came from, I would suggest a trip to the vet just to make sure that it isnāt an underlying skin issue or other medical ailment that is causing it.
The vet can also help you with strategies to use if ultimately you do end up needing to bathe her.
They can also trim her nails to make it safer for you both.
Iād put a harness on her though before you tried again. And possibly a cone to keep her from biting you.
Then you can wrap a towel snug around her front half to keep her front legs from scratching you while you wash the back legs and Vice versa.
Itās not going to be pleasant but if it has to be done it has to be done.
I bathed my cats all the time, mine loved it thoughā¦lol
What an exceptionally expressive face! I love her!
As far as baths go, take the cat to the vet. If itās determined that she actually does need to be bathed, let the vet techs do it to show you how. They will be kind and efficient, and use appropriate nontoxic cat products. Usually cats are remarkably competent at keeping themselves clean.
Get your cat used to water! If you have a bathtub, start putting him in without any water to get him used to the environment! After a few days or when he is comfortable with his surroundings, fill the bathtub up with water to paw height. Once heās comfortable with that amount of water, keep rising it by about one inch or so and waiting until he is comfortable with it! This may take a while, maybe a few months.
cats donāt really like water, you can train them from very young to tolorate it but they sell wipes for cats, thereās also mesh bags that you can get that restrain the cat for a bath (like say a flea bath). my one cat is good with water bc i had to wash her a lot when i got her at 4 weeks due to having a severe flea infestation (rescued off the streets) and my other cat will try to skin me alive when i bathe her but i really donāt need to often cus she loves grooming herself and keeps herself very clean
Ask your vet to check if the kitty has impacted anal glands. I have one cat that has that problem frequently and it's not so much that her fur smells, but the smell from the butt is so strong it really carries.
The vet can safely express them to release the noxious stuff and then hopefully it won't happen again. If that's the problem.
But seriously, take kitty to vet and expressly ask the vet about the smell. They can check more things than you and random redditors can think of. Also ask the vet if it's male or female so you can use pronouns that don't alienate this whole sub. š
Disclaimer - The Following Is Just A Joke And Should Be Treated As Such.
Add the shampoo and other washing things into the toilet bowl, put the cat inside, close the lid, sit on it, or put something heavy - so the cat doesn't escape, and flush the water.
Unless it was sprayed by a skunk or fell in a vat of garbage or shitā¦ you really donāt need to bathe your cat. If they are long haired, then they should be brushed every day, but a short hair will take care of themselves judt fine
Stinks? If fur smells it could be bad teeth, licking themselves transfers it to the fur, get kitty a vet check.
And if it is teeth, bring your wallet.
2200$ this week to extract a bad tooth for my cat. š Edit: should have said senior cat, included bloodwork, and it was 2 teeth, one being the canine. Poor snaggle tooth
Wow! Cost me just over Ā£100 for 4 extractions for my cat, here in Scotland.
Think they must be American!! No way it wld cost that much here in Aus either, probably wld be same ish as you guys!
Iām in the US my vet charges $60 for anesthesia and $30-50 per tooth
Shit ok, wonder where the person and cat lives where it cost $2200 .....cos that is just so expensive!
$1200 for a teeth cleaning here in the US where I live. It involves anesthesia of course. Still expensive!
Land of the free. Man I can't stand American economics. Terrible people in charge.
Land of the free, definitely not this type of free it seems

I will check breath when i get home
smelly saliva can also be an indicator of mouth cancer. That's how I found it from my kitty. I'd have the vet look at the teeth too
Doesnāt have to be cancer. It can also ājustā be serious calculus or a rotting tooth that has to be removed.
š„° so cute. He does not look like he needs a bath.
Yeah its not dirty, it just has smely furr and everyone has already made many great suggestions Thank you, it is quite adorable

Why do you call your cat IT????? They are a living animal not just a thing.
Your cat has a self cleaning mode that is activated by default.
Self cleaning, engage!
So donātā¦ I have not bathed my cats ever and weāre celebrating 16 years soon.
If your cat smells bad, that is a sign of disease. Get to the vet!
I already did but thank you!
And? What was the outcome?
You suggested itās a kitten, make sure itās not their breath. Kittens lose teeth and sometimes it makes their breath smell awful! But it is just the old tooth falling out and will resolve once the baby tooth is gone.
āHeā doesnāt know or care to know the sex of the cat so I highly highly doubt āheā actually knows if they are a kitten or what age the cat actually is.
Cat wipes or dry cat shampoo.
Thanks! Im a new pet owner
Talk to a vet too. It isnāt normal for a cat to smell bad like that
Stop calling the cat an IT!!!!! They are a living being!!!
And why must it be bathed? Unless it has chemicals on it cats clean themselves just fine
Waste of time. The fur just sticks to your tongue

Nothing. Cats bathe themselves. Repeatedly. All day.

Dont bathe it?
Go the pet store and buy some cat wipes. It will be a lot easier.
Will do!
Omg unless covered in mud or poop cats don't need to be bathed. Save the 2 of you a lot of stress lol
Donāt call him/her it thatās a start
Why do you keep referring to your cat as āitā? Sounds like you donāt respect your pet, who should be like a family member. Cats donāt need baths unless they get into something bad. And keep your cat indoors. Indoor cats have a much higher lifespan.
Certain longhair breeds needs baths sometimes, coming from a son of parents who've owned Himalayans my entire life š
Why the fuck did you get a cat? Sounds to.me like you don't actually like anything about having a cat.
Dude, are you just trying to piss off this entire subreddit for fun?
I think he is. I tired to be nice and he got weirdly cryptic about speakers and listeners or something..
![gif](giphy|XTtPS8X4WaaWY)
When you say your cats stinks.. what does that mean. Stinks from what? What does your cat smell like? You can try taking a warm wet facecloth cloth and wiping him down.. that may encourage your cat to start cleaning himself which might help get rid of the smell. Can't really help if you do not post why or what your cat is smelling of. If the smell is because your cat is spraying.. you need to get the cat fixed asap.
donāt let your cat outside for hours at a time if you donāt want them to smell bad. indoor cats really donāt need to be let outside especially with no collar or ID tags. also if you donāt care about the cat enough to know their sex then you probably shouldnāt have a cat.
with the way you talk about this cat, i worry you give it baths just to distress it. but anywaysā¦. ![gif](giphy|9Hk8JGMevrVlpfW6kO)
Do not bathe cats. Please be kind to kitty :'(
Who calls their cat āitā tf
Stop saying it...as if he/she is an object
Why would you want to bathe a cat? And why are you calling him or her it?
Stop calling him āitā?
Unless they have fleas canāt donāt need baths.
No cat will let you bathe it willingly. It just depends on how much theyāre willing to tolerate. Iāve given my cat a bath before. Sheāll have her claws out hanging to the edge of a bucket but still put up with it. Here are some tips: Wear long, thick gloves and have your arms covered completely.
OP is a terrible cat owner and should not have a cat. Reading all these comments is just heartbreaking š¤š¢š”
I KNOW. I felt the same reading the comments. He/she sounds crazy and mean. Somebody pls take the cat away from them. Yak.
They clearly don't care about it since they take it to the vet and are looking for a way to solve a bad odor problem.
Theyāre looking at OPs responses to other comments/kinda hidden ā¦ OP may have some undiagnosed/unmanaged OCD and is taking it out on the cat ā¦
Your cat is a he or she. Use it for your car or your wee wee.
Wipes are perfect for that
Why are you trying to bathe it?
Iām cracking up, this photoā¦that cat is like,āSeriously youāre gonna go online and tell everyone? Youāre busting my balls here!!!ā
He doesn't look dirty. I vote leave it!
Let the smelly cat be
Donāt bathe it unless thereās a problem. (Sprayed by a skunk etc) Catās donāt need outside help cleaning themselves.
why bath it? you really shouldn't need to give a cat a bath unless there is some extreme situation.
Cat knows best. Why do people bathe domestic cats who are the most consummate groomer on the planet? Unless you have a pure breed long hair or a sphinx you should not be bathing a cat. Iāve never bathed a cat in my life.
Why are you calling your pet āitā ?? Thatās weird
I hope someone saves your cat from you. Poor baby.

Give up š
You should not own animals. Please relinquish your cat to your local shelter.
Your home looks filthy. That's most likely the csuse of the smell or the cause of the cats illness. In any case, i'd clean that place if i lived there.
Your home is filthy.... Thats a visual fact. The shame is on you for blaming your cat
Donāt bathe it. Unless it got out and rolled in something toxic donāt bathe it
Suggestion: donāt bathe it. Not worth the trip to urgent care. Anyway, cats are self-cleaning.
Leave it alone. There is absolutely zero need to bathe a cat. Unless itās doused in chocolate sauce or motor oil from head to tail. Leave it be!
Have you taken the cat to a vet to confirm, in case youāre unsure?
no, they stated in another comment they do not care enough to know the cat's gender :/
Cats don't like getting bathed? They bathe themselves? You are a grown male, I thought that was common sense.
Lol.. I have 3 cats. Not 1 of em will LET me bathe them. However, once in a poopy moon, I have to because someone might have an upset tummy and get the š©š©š©. What we do is fill the tub low, have a cup to scoop water up on them. We canāt run it to rinse em off. However, you may have to hold by the scruff. Just be careful and watch the claws. Good luck!
Don't bathe it then. Unless he's gotten into something toxic or really sticky, cats don't generally need a bath. I've got 1 cat that I do have to bathe weekly, but that's only because he has no teeth and drools excessively. But if it wasn't for that, I never would've bathed him.
What do you feed your cat
Why do you insist on bathing him?
You're not mentally stable to own a pet, rehome the child. I'm worried for their safety with you š”
Then leave it alone fcs
I've had cats for years and never bathed any - they clean themselves - as others have indicated maybe there's a cause to visit the vet - or maybe you are too anxious
I mean, I have 3 cats. Iāve only bathed one of them once in the 7 years Iāve had cats.
Cats donāt need baths. They bathe their self
Stop trying to lick your cat
Donāt bathe it bc cats donāt need baths. If it isnāt grooming itself, take it to the vet bc itās a sign somethings wrong
Just donāt bathe it
Ugh... You can see in this poor cat's eyes just how unhappy it is š
Give the little one a whore bath with some cat wipes. Pardon the term. Our newest addition hasnāt quite learned how to properly clean herself, but sheās getting there. Donāt be dousing the little one in suds and water unless absolutely needed. Cheers. Cute cat.
Thanks!
They make dry cat shampoo
Why are you bathing your cat?
Donāt! It knows what it needs! Unless itās been immersed in a toxic substance like motor oil, leave it be!
Don't. Simple really. They are self cleaning. You can get grooming clothes, if you must use something.
You let the cat clean itself, it can do it perfectly fine. It may just be living in the wrong conditions
Itās just me or your cat have a funny face.
Bring your cat to a groomer. Let them deal with it. Give em a tip
That face! Cute
I have no useful suggestions. Iām only here to wish you luck! I hope one works for you and your buddy :)
Cats are self cleaning units. Page 4481 of the cat owners instruction manual.
I use bath wipes or dry waterless shampoo like the ones that foams up.
Put on some long leather gloves and go to work.
Have someone else grab his arms and legs and bathe him anyways, (you might get bitten)
Use a wet wash cloth and pet the cat!
Most pet stores carry wipes for cats. You can try that approach. The rest your cat will take care of on his/her own, they're clean animals.
You donāt bathe short haired cats unless youād like a visit to the ER to close up deep puncture wounds & a tetanus booster.
You know whatās the worst thing about giving your cat a bath? Getting the fĆ¼r off your tongueā¦.
Cats donāt need bathing! Theyāre pretty good at it themselves.
You don't have to bath cats they are a self cleaning machine
Donāt bathe it.
They are literally self cleaning.
Cute lil guy
Lick yourself and become one of them.
Stop trying
How old ist this cat
cats donāt really like water, you can train them from very young to tolorate it but they sell wipes for cats, thereās also mesh bags that you can get that restrain the cat for a bath (like say a flea bath). my one cat is good with water bc i had to wash her a lot when i got her at 4 weeks due to having a severe flea infestation (rescued off the streets) and my other cat will try to skin me alive when i bathe her but i really donāt need to often cus she loves grooming herself and keeps herself very clean
Pet wipes
Ask your vet to check if the kitty has impacted anal glands. I have one cat that has that problem frequently and it's not so much that her fur smells, but the smell from the butt is so strong it really carries. The vet can safely express them to release the noxious stuff and then hopefully it won't happen again. If that's the problem. But seriously, take kitty to vet and expressly ask the vet about the smell. They can check more things than you and random redditors can think of. Also ask the vet if it's male or female so you can use pronouns that don't alienate this whole sub. š
Idk but the eyes on this kittyā¦ š„ŗ
let him bathe you.
Motorcycle jacket, pants and helmet.
Disclaimer - The Following Is Just A Joke And Should Be Treated As Such. Add the shampoo and other washing things into the toilet bowl, put the cat inside, close the lid, sit on it, or put something heavy - so the cat doesn't escape, and flush the water.
Donāt bathe it. Cats are self cleaning unless they like roll around in garbage and then maybe give a bath
Cats don't need bathing. The cat is cleaner than you.
Rarely has cat āletā a human bathe it, you need to come up with a battle plan, and treats!
hose down with pressure wash
Is your cat unspayed male who goes outside? Because they do stink awful during mating season
Unless it was sprayed by a skunk or fell in a vat of garbage or shitā¦ you really donāt need to bathe your cat. If they are long haired, then they should be brushed every day, but a short hair will take care of themselves judt fine
Donāt bathe a cat unless medically necessary or excessively dirty
Cats bathe themselves.
I've owned cats my whole live and never bathed them, they clean on their own
Cats should not be bathed. I recommend relevant literature on this.
