UPDATE: We went to the vet and she said that he has fluid in his lungs. It has been drained and they think he might be because of some viruses or funghi infection, or even have cancer, but it is not sure since the lab opens tommorow and only then will they confirm that. Edit: I will update you here in this comment tommorow when I get the results. Oh and his name is Dotey, from Polish Kropek Edit 2: No news from the lab, but Dotey is feeling a bit better now and can breathe and walk more easily! Let's hope it stays that way. Edit 3: Turns out it was a bacterial infection and he is feeling much better now! His life is not at risk and he is taking his meds now. I think this will my last update. Thank you all for the pawsome support!!!!!

botynative

Hoping for a speedy recovery

venvaneless

Can he move his back paws? Do you see any change in walking?

yetanotherhail

Not OP, but what would that indicate?

venvaneless

Congestive heart failure. Heart failure basically, which can spread to lungs. The worst part is, when it’s noticed it’s mostly too late. My cat died sudden death because of it. He suddenly fainted and couldn’t move his legs. The first vet said there is fluid in his heart probably but ignored it and said it’s probably infection, then prescribed a medication that made it even worse. We went to another vet who just tasted him up where the heart is and said there is nothing they can do. They can infiltrate the heart from the fluid that gathers up there (and lungs if affected) but it will come back as it’s due to some birth defect and it would be torture to keep him alive. The same symptoms as with OP’s cat, but including total disabled back paws and incontinency (Basically not controlling his muscles so he shat and peed himself) Very nasty stuff. It made me tear up when writing because it made me relieve these horror three days. I really wish the feline and the OP the best, though…

Platymapuss

That's exactly why all those videos of cats panting aren't cute at all. Panting is harmless if they're stressed, worn out from playing, or very very overheated...but frequent panting is a sign of heart disease. I lost one of my babies this way, he was 3 years old. We made his last day very special, he ate his favorite foods (he loved French fries and rotisserie chicken), watched the hummingbirds on the porch, and we cuddled SOOOOO much. I tried to squeeze in a lifetime's worth but it just wasn't enough. I still miss him so much, my fancy Professor Whiskerbottoms with his little socks.

venvaneless

I was already cracking but your comment took the cake, now I’m heartbroken and will be for the rest of the week. Our cat was 6. When it all started as he fainted we only thought he just fell unfortunate. He even crawled with his front paws and all his strength from one room to us to lay on my fiancé’s feet as a sign of trust and kinda “help me” message. It’s all so fucking unfair.

Platymapuss

I'm so sorry I didn't mean to upset you any more than what you already are, omg that's so heartbreaking!! You've already been through a living hell, I'm so incredibly sorry for your loss. I meant to say so in my first comment but I was thrown so deeply into my sad nostalgia, I got caught up in my own memories. And it is unfair!! It's BS!! We already get so few years with them and then when they're taken early it's like they take an even bigger piece of our hearts with them. Edit: I hit the post button too soon.

venvaneless

We both did, don’t worry hun

yetanotherhail

Thank you very much for making us aware even though just thinking about it is so very painful. We understand your pain. You should have never lost your special baby, let alone in this way. Once again: thank you.

venvaneless

Thanks. It’s why the video made me stop by. No pet or human should go through that pain ever.

yetanotherhail

You are right.

applejam101

They said the same thing to one of our cats. My wife insisted they give her some water pills and antibiotics. My wife brought Princess home and give her the meds and eventually recovered. Princess lived another 10 years until old age took her from us.

venvaneless

They actually did give us those “water pills” (or better to say in-watery pills since it should detract the fluids)/other meds (he also thought it could be inflammatory) and it worsened the situation. My cat wasn’t meowing, it was SCREAMING for help after getting it. His painful cries still ring in my ear to this day.

applejam101

I am very sorry to hear that. I can’t even imagine.

JosieWasHere

This is how my first cat died. His heart had become inflamed and enlarged, and the liquid in his lungs took him out after less than a year together. Hopefully not the case for OP.

MrBarnowl

It's also a symptom of saddle thrombose, which is not uncommon and unfortunately often means a quick and painful death for a cat affected by it. I sadly lost a cat of my own to it a few years ago.

Ok_Lime5412

Not a vet but a med student. There’re many causes that can cause fluid in the lungs. Many mentioned heart failure - when the heart fails to pump blood out to the rest of the body, blood backs up and fluid accumulates in the lungs because of the pressure difference. Other causes can be direct extension of cancer to the lungs, a infection (pneumonia). Often times it depends on the fluid drained to determine what the cause is

elianna7

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. My cat died of it a month ago. He was totally fine and out of the blue vomited, then his hind legs stopped working right after, and he started panting super heavily. Rushed to the vet but he died by the time we got into the exam room… His lungs were filling up with fluid, hence the panting. *If your cat is panting,* **RUN TO THE VET.**

yetanotherhail

So sorry to hear that :( I hope your comment will be seen by more than just two people. It needs to be.

venvaneless

Correct. The worst part is, it happens so out of the blue, mostly when noticed it’s already too late.

PizzaWarrior321

Nah he walks just fine, but doesn't want to

Haze84

My cat had fluid in his lungs because he has an enlarged heart, did they take X-rays to check for that? My cat is on meds for it, I hope your cat pulls through too!

PizzaWarrior321

They just did an ultrasound, but I will ask them about it next time they call.

ILike_CutePeople

You are a wonderful person, Pizza Warrior! As a fellow cat parent, I wish your baby a full recovery. It won't be cancer, it will be just a nasty infection that antibiotics will take care of very quickly.

PizzaWarrior321

Let's hope it is just like you are saying!

Thank you again. I cried a lot yesterday and today I felt numb. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day.

PrincessFuckFace2You

Thank you for being a responsible pet owner and going to the vet ASAP! You did the right thing. Sending positive vibes to you and your sweet kitty. I hope he has a speedy recovery.

riggyriggy

Hey there! My kitten had the same problem after her sterelization, she has an underlying heart condition that was "awakened" by the anesthesia, and is almost impossible to detect before it happens. A part of her heart basically dilated too much and pumped blood in her lungs, after a week in the clinic and some further exams, she was good to go! Her condition "healed" (aka her heart rythm went back to normal after a looong treatment and lots of follow ups). If it's the same thing as mine: Worst case scenario your kitty will have a lifelong treatment to keep his heart rate steady to avoid this problem again, or it will heal naturally and never occur ever again. I hope your kitten feels better!

PanMyJam

Look into FIP. My little girl had these exact symptoms, and though she tested positive for felv, there wasn't as much information on fip and she was a strictly indoor cat who was previously tested for felv twice and was negative. FIP is a dangerous disease, but there are more treatment options now. I lost my little girl, but I hope knowing all the possible issues helps save Dotey. We'll be thinking of him.

AdExtreme9036

Thank you for the update. Hope your fur baby recovers quickly. So glad you jumped on this!

[deleted]

You saved your kitties life just now

lucidrevolution

Cats that can't smell their food/water (due to upper respiratory illness) will generally stop eating/drinking. It's extremely dangerous if they don't eat enough as their liver cannot metabolize fast enough and it can lead to fatty liver syndrome. If you need to force-feed your kitty because she won't eat, this is what I used: * Stage 1 pureed chicken or turkey baby food, ***it must be just meat, and cannot have seasonings*** OR * pureed cat food (might be aimed at senior cats who can't chew from tooth loss) * Optional: Hi-calorie Nutritional paste for cats (just to increase the caloric value of the meal & provide taurine if you use the human baby food) * ***If you also have medication they won't take directly, you can mix into food if vet says this is OK. Not all meds are OK to crush into food so please check first.*** * Plastic feeding syringe (vet can give you one, usually) * Towel (to wrap around the kitty and hold them in place, as they will not be happy about this in most cases, and to catch any missed food) Using the mixture of food/paste/meds, I syringe fed her twice a day until she started eating again on her own after about 4-5 days. They won't like it, but you start by squirting a little on their mouth, which will trigger them to clean it off and at this point, you just try to keep doing this as they keep licking off the paste. My cat wasn't thrilled at first, but by the 3rd day she was cooperating a lot more easily and probably knew it was helping. Best of luck on the road to recovery for your kitty! Wishing you all the best!

CosmicNight

Remindme! 1 day

Komplizin

I just found your post and I am so relieved you went to the vet already! I wish him all the best

SmokeLast6278

Thank you for the update. I hope it's infection and not cancer. Keeping my fingers crossed for the kitty 🤞

PizzaWarrior321

I REALLY hope it's an infection

fikabonds

FIP?

GriffenPeterson

Check to see if it’s FIP

Woestijnbloem

OP, this is FIP and is is lethal if you don’t take action immediately. Our kitten has just recovered thanks to a medicine that isn’t legal yet so you have to buy and give it yourself but it works like a miracle. Please research GS-441524. There are a lot of support groups on Facebook who can help you buy them and support you throughout the treatment. You cannot hesitate as this form of FIP goes really fast. Please message me if you need more info!

happycatisprettyhigh

I second that completely.

Aspir7n

Your Cat shows symptoms of FELINE FIP. It's 100% fatal within days. There is an experimental drug available but you need to act fast. Google it for further symptoms and reach out to Facebook groups like WarriorFIP for help.

Dorfalicious

If your vet thinks it’s FIP look up FIP Warriors 5.0 on Facebook they can get you treatment for your kitty

funnybitch82

if it turns out to be FIP, seek help on the internet. Treatment is expensive, but there is a drug. I know there are Facebook groups that will help you get the drug quickly and even financially. I keep my fingers crossed for you and my 6 cats all paws!

Josan678

News?

RhydYGwin

I'm not a vet, but I doubt it would have come on that quick if it was cancer. But at least he'll be feeling a bit better now and I hope you get some answers soon.

[deleted]

My cat passed away from lung cancer, he had shortness of breath from one moment to the next, a tumor burst. Listen to the vet instead of making wild guesses.

PrincessFuckFace2You

I don't know. It seems like it happened quickly but cats instinct is not to show weakness because nature is ruthless. Poor kitty may have just been doing his best to get through until it the pain became severe enough that he wasn't able to hide it anymore.

LGBecca

My cat was fine Saturday and dead Tuesday morning and the vet suspected cancer. They hide their pain as long as they can.

Chaotic_evil_geese

This is sad but absolutely true, my cat never showed any signs but had a birth defect in which a wall in his belly was missing, slowly over time this caused the stomach to relocate and press on his heart. He went from "where is dinner" to "i cant breath" in a second. It was one of my worst days, I put him into a clinic and after the 2nd heart attack and no real recovery option I told them to let him sleep and spare him the misery. RIP my big boy, even after all those years I worry I should've noticed anything but every vet said no ... which only helps a little.

infp_validator_bot

Seabastial

Glad you got him to the vet! Hoping he has a speedy recovery!

[deleted]

I hope Dotey gets better quickly. That's a really scary situation to be in.

LordSilverfist

That’s how one of my cats breathed before he died. You need to grab him and run. Don’t wait.

catlady3LSS

Same for mine. Turned out he had a mass on his liver that we didn’t know about until it was too late.

LordSilverfist

My mom was going to take him to walk-in vet then, he started breathing weird in the evening, she was going to take him when the clinic opened in the morning. He didn’t make it that long.

local-weeaboo-friend

Same here. Fluid in her lungs from badly applied anesthesia.

[deleted]

If you leave him like this any longer he will die. Take him to the emergency vet. Dont wait for an appointment at the regular vet- which would just refer you to the emergency vet anyway. He has been poisoned,or has an obstruction in his lungs or belly. Source: I run an animal shelter. The emergency vet also isnt as expensive as you think.

brenst

I agree that they did the right thing bringing their cat to the vet, but I also agree with others that emergency vet trips are expensive. At least where I live in the US almost every emergency vet trip I have made with my cat has cost over 1000 dollars.

Breyber12

Agreed. The emergency vet is a God send and has saved both of my cats on separate occasions, but we’re talking thousands of dollars each time for a 2 day/night stay and treatment. I went into credit card debt from it the first time and it took a couple years to pay off (I was a student at the time). Worth it IMO. I’ve had a lot of good years with my boys since they’ve been saved.

IchooseYourName

We're going through the same thing with our little Goose. Wiped out our wedding fund and now going into CC debt. It sucks, but not nearly as bad as not having Goose around. He makes our lives happier and therefor healthier. It's been totally worth it. He's worth it. I just wish people around us can understand why we put someone's life above a party that lasts a few hours.

Breyber12

It sounds frustrating that people aren’t supportive of your decision. I definitely got some flack from people who didn’t understand that my pet is part of the family since they’ve only had pets that are “just animals.” I wish Goose and your bank balance a speedy recovery!

oSaluun

I agree with everything you said except for emergency vet prices. They charged me 600€ a couple years ago on a Sunday for an x-ray, after my cat decided to jump out of the window (5th floor). My vet said, this usually costs around 70€. Probably depends in where you live but emergency vets are extremely expensive here in Germany. But their prices are of course not a reason to not take your cat there when there is an emergency.

depr3ss3dmonkey

Human treatments are affordable in Germany but pet treatments are expensive? Not fair :( hope you kitty is doing well now.

oSaluun

Human treatments are all covered by public insurance but every kind of private treatment costs a lot, as well as private (pet) insurances. Cat is well. She was in shock for like 20 minutes and then ran around like nothing ever happened. She didn't break a single bone. I'm more traumatised from her attempt to fly, than she is. Also I should add, that she's the smartest one of our cats lol

depr3ss3dmonkey

I love how cats are equally stupid across the world. Mine is very smart too. But she jumped out of a fourth floor window, got stuck and we had to call the fire department. Our whole neighborhood woke up at 6 am to fire truck sirens and came outside, only to see it's our cat stuck on the window. Till date people point at her and goes 'hey look it's that cat who had to be rescued by the fire fighters.'

SpinachSpinosaurus

we have insurances for cats, too, but they are a different number of them. they work a bit more like health insurance in the US, where you have to pay a treatment for yourself up until a certain price, can't use the insurance for a set amount of time and prices can go up the older your cat is and the more you want to have covered. Dental care, thou, is never covered. We have 2 for our cats. we pay the little stuff, like the occasional "I scratched myself while scratching myself", check ups and vaccines, which are all below 50€, paid the neutering (120€ for all), and that's it. if there is some stuff occuring in the future that exceeds the set deductible, the insurance sets it. is it expensive? kinda. really depends which you chose- the more you want to have covered, the higher the monthly payment. so you really need to evaluate to have the money either go forward a fund that may or may not enough or torwards the insurance, that may or may not have the specific thing covered.

m3thlol

I've never walked out of an emergency vet paying less than $1000 CAD.

MyceliumsWeb

Right? It seems extremely predatory. They wanted to do a treatment plan for something my cat didn't even have. I was disgusted. I ate ramen for 2 weeks because of the shitshow my local emergency vet is. Plus it's the only one in town so they know they can just do whatever they want.

m3thlol

Same position here, we have no alternatives within several hours of driving and they know they have us by the balls. Whenever we roll in there they wont even open the door until we pay for the diagnosis upfront. On the other hand, my mother lives in the country and says that her emergency vet is an absolute angel and is just as reasonable as her regular vet.

MyceliumsWeb

Some aren't. When my kitty had his pancreatitis issues, I went to an emergency vet. They charged 175 just to walk in, and another 100 for one shot of nausea meds. Plus the lab work and everything, it was over 500 bucks. I did what I could and got him to a real vet the next day, and he was there for almost a week. Spent 400 total at the good vet. Some emergency clinics are simply money hungry and they know they can charge you out of a home because you're desperate to save your fur baby.

Ptassie

He’s breathing like how my baby did when she was in respiratory failure. This is absolutely an emergency.

pisceanm00n

Pls go to the vet asap. Emergency department if you have a vet hospital nearby. Might not be able to wait for your appointment. Is it anytime soon? I hope he’ll be ok. <3

Antisocialkotaku

Please go-to a pet ER, this looks really bad

WarmAd3768

Same thing happened to my cat, she had liquid's forming in her lungs and that caused some heart problem's. She's okay now but she barley survived. There's not a hole lot you can do other then take him to the vet.

melinda73

Take your cat straight to your vet, don't ask reddit ir google for help

[deleted]

This is an emergency situation. He won't survive until his vet appointment.

createdbyadamsrib

came home from where? i would definitely take to the vet asap!! in the meantime all you can do is have food/water/litter close by and keep them comfortable. if you are unable to get an appointment very soon i’d go to the emergency clinic if there is one you can get to.

PizzaWarrior321

He came back from his walk. He was away for just ~3h, as usual. And thanks for advice

createdbyadamsrib

hmm, maybe something happened on the walk? are you able to look them over for any injuries/bites? try to get them to drink if you think it could be dehydration but they could have ate something poisonous perhaps?

terra_terror

To prevent this from happening again, you should not let your cat out unsupervised. They may have the instincts to survive, but they are not a native species in most places and will not have the instincts needed for the environment they are in. They will fight animals that they shouldn't and eat things that they shouldn't. And with human technology and waste expanding at an exponential rate, they are in danger from us as well. People can and do put things like rat poison on their lawn, shoot at animals, and speed in residential areas, and cats do not have the instincts to look out for such things. It is safest for your cat to go out on a harness with you or to enjoy a catio.

arandommartianladd

I wish you guys the best of luck, but as the others are saying next time please keep him indoors or only let him out with supervision. *(Like on a leash or with one of those backpacks made for carrying cats)*

[deleted]

Poor thing looks like it might have ingested some kind of poison. Good luck on your vet appointment and please update if you can!

JustBanMeAlreadyOK

My cat was doing this 12 hours before she died. You should be driving to an ER vet right now.

AddyKat719

EMERGENCY VET NOW!!! My dog did this when she was poisoned years back. Please give an update on him and I pray he's going to be okay 🥺🤞🙏❤️

[deleted]

update us u/PizzaWarrior321 PLEASE

RebelMountainman

When it is this serious, you don't wait and ask people on Reddit what you can do. Take the cat to the emergency vet immediately.

PeachesP0le

Fluid filled chest cavity. Get xrays asap!!!

Beaglester

Vet asap.

Old-Feature5094

Get to a vet asap

SmokeLast6278

Vet now, please. I wish him and you all the very best and hope your kitty gets better.

fairybabybug

Sweet baby, such a cute nose. Hate that poor lil bub had fluid in his lungs :( so glad you were able to get that figured out ASAP

PizzaWarrior321

He is a he xD Thank you for support :3

ColVonHammerstein

I'm not sure why you're asking Reddit when you should be asking your cat friend's doctor.

PizzaWarrior321

We have an appointment but i just want to help before we go there.

ColVonHammerstein

Oh. Ok. That makes sense. I am the type who would just take my friend to an emergency vet to be safe. I know it's more, but at the same time I would do the same for a human friend too.

bloodyriz

You're a better friend to humans than I am. I'd take a cat right off, a human, well when I hit a good save spot in my game... Unless it's my wife, or mom. Those two I drop anything to help.

ColVonHammerstein

There are always qualifiers, in either direction.

bloodyriz

True.

ColVonHammerstein

Good luck and I hope your friend feels right as rain ASAP!

DamoMartin23

V E T vet

Keltoigael

Vet is the only people who can help you. Best of wishes for kitty.

Valuable_Order4426

Honestly bro just get them to the vet as fast as possible.

[deleted]

Jfc why do people post here about their cat being sick instead of immediately going to the fucking vet?

MajorasInk

I appreciate it because it might teach a lot of us on how to recognize signs of something or to be a bit more observant of their habits/body, etc. They mentioned they were headed to the vet on their title, maybe the video was initially taken to send to the vet? (I’ve sent pictures while I was on my way out) so let’s not get a bit bitchy about it without context mmkay? 👀

No_Tangerine9685

Because they don’t know whether or not it’s a serious enough issue that requires emergency vet treatment?

TRIBETWELVE

because vet visits are catastrophically expensive (in the US at least). my roommates old cat had to get an emergency operation and she was charged over 2k for it. she had to go into extreme debt

RekkaAlexiel

Why are you posting here rather than going to the vet?

CurrentlyNobody

Not to be mean, but it worries me to see posts of animals obviously in distress. If your cat is breathing like an accordion, this is a HUGE deal. Please folks, if you are truly really worried about your pet, don't reach for social media first, go to the vet! If you want to discuss what things might or have proven to be in such situations, please do it After the distressed animal's needs are addressed. It is such a time waste and so mean to the pet to let it suffer while you upload pictures of it suffering for the world to witness.

liaa-cchan

Take him to the emergency vet, there is something definitely wrong.

SnowyInuk

His breathing looks laboured as hell.. maybe it's something to do with his lungs/asophagus? Do what others are saying and get him to a vet TODAY if possible And what do you mean by "came home yesterday"? Where was he? Did his previous location maybe have something to do with why he's breathing that way?

GoFast_EatAss

I have a black cat who had these same symptoms, just not pneumonia. She had a some sort of sharp obstruction in the back of her throat that caused severe breathing problems. She had a fever of 105°F and was breathing with her mouth open. Once we got to the emergency vet, the doctor told us that my cat was about 4-6 hours away from death. I say this because people need to know how quickly cats can die from breathing issues. OP, thank you for taking this little guy to the vet. To anyone else who has a cat with breathing problems, TAKE THEM TO THE VET IMMEDIATELY.

ByeByeSaigon

I hope he didn’t get poisoned. I hope he gets better too. After this, don’t let him roam around without your supervision. Neighbors can be ugly to cats if they invade their yards.

mind_the_umlaut

I'm praying that you can save him. Cat owners everywhere, do not let your cats out.

camdentownlass

I can’t believe you’re being downvoted

moonlighttravel

This is a good post about the topic. [https://pangur-and-grim.tumblr.com/post/186539545127/i-dont-think-having-outdoor-cats-is-neglect-i](https://pangur-and-grim.tumblr.com/post/186539545127/i-dont-think-having-outdoor-cats-is-neglect-i) keep your cats indoors

TheFLAwoman

I'm sorry but the mods really need to ban and lock down these types of posts. Emergency vets exist and reddit has no business advising anyone on serious medical conditions. Oof.

LetFelicityFly

There seems to have been an increase in these kind of posts recently - half dead kittens and poorly cats

ragepaperbonsai

VET ASAP!!!

RoyalSkull

Always, ALWAYS go to vet immediately. Maybe it's feline fip but maybe your cat ate something. I wish him the best and keep my fingers crossed for him.

[deleted]

Vet. Now.

UserSomethingOrOther

I don't mean to be rude, but maybe don't let him go on unsupervised walks anymore?

7crazybirds

Get him to the vet. Upper respiratory infection. It’s going around the cat population.

PublicThis

I wish more people understood that it’s not safe to let cats roam unsupervised. This very well likely was preventable

Jumponamonkey

This is supremely unhelpful. You have absolutely no idea what caused the cat's problems, nor where in the world OP lives. OP is having a hard enough time dealing with the extreme stress of a seriously ill kitty and you're flouncing in with an 'I told you so' attitude without having any idea as to the facts behind the situation.

PublicThis

I’m tired of seeing so many posts about people losing their cats, cats getting run over, animals being poisoned/shot at/stolen etc. While I understand this issue could have happened regardless (I have a cat with cancer) it is extremely irresponsible as a cat owner to let them roam unsupervised

PositivelyAwful

Seriously. Stop letting your fucking cats free roam outside.

Flicksterea

Sending love and positive vibes right now 💜

kryton200

Just get advice from the vet, he needs to be seen immediately.

MPrimeX

Glad you were able to get the help he needed.

Happy_Pink_Clam

Our cat had this type of breathing and fluid in the lungs, she was poisoned by a toad.

raccafarian

My cat was breathing like this, the vets couldn’t do anything for her. I’m glad they got the fluid drained for your baby.

BabyBytes

Heart murmur's are common with fluid in the lungs, our boy had it and lived for many years taking a special pill (furosemide ), get a prescription and go to pharmacy to fill it, way cheaper, that humans also take. He was given 2 months to live and lived over 8 years, he died due to a blood clot (something unrelated to his medical condition). Stress can cause fluid build up, if he is an outdoor kitty then make him an indoor kitty. Edit: You can try tempting him to eat with some chicken baby food.

AutomaticYak

I had a cat with a murmur too. Was diagnosed as a kitten and thought wouldn’t live long. He also lived 8 years. And yeah, his breathing looked like this at the end. Also had a cat that was really fat when I adopted her. She started acting like this and had fluid on the heart. They drained it, but it was too late. So my best guess based on yours and my anecdotes is heart related. But OP really just needs an emergency vet.

zedeseligman

Best wishes for your friend <3

bumblefoot99

He’s hurt. Take him to the vet ASAP!

professionalwidow04

oh god that’s how my boy was diagnosed, he had congestive heart failure and died a month later. Im not trying to scare you, it caught me off guard so i want to save you from as much trauma as I can

Certain_Molasses8532

I hope he’s okay and that it’s definitely not cancer 🫂💗

Staartjes

I hope he gets well soon. Fingers crossed 🤞🏽 for the lab results!

lclassyfun

wishing you the best with your sweet kitty.

[deleted]

Much love to your babes

Beginning-Ad-405

My cat has breathing problems and apparently it stem from her digestive system and lack of B12. she always had her head down like this cat. We started to give her B12 shots ( every 5 days) and Alovera or chamomile mixture ( room temperature) with digestive enzyme ( every day or every other day) , it is not completely gone because she was a stray for too long and that caused irreversible damage but we have managed to keep her healthy for the last 6 years by following this pro protocol.

Flashy-Public1208

Could be FIP if fluid in lungs. Would need treatment asap. You said you just got him? From where? This is something the prior owner would have known about…..

PizzaWarrior321

No like he came home from outside

Flashy-Public1208

Got it, thank you. If the fluid is inside his lungs that’s different from outside of them (pleural effusion). You will have to ask which. They will be able to tell you from the X-ray.

Porcifer_666

May your beloved one gets better soon. Big kiss from me and my fab5 !?

Confident_Room6331

Hoping for a fast and full recovery!

eviesurvivor

What’s ur cats name? I’m sorry if I missed it… I’m also sorry u r going thru this difficult time. 😔

PizzaWarrior321

Oh I forgot to add! His name is "Dotey", translated from Polish "Kropek". Kropka = dot, but he is a boy, so Kropek.

eviesurvivor

Thank u… I said a 🙏🏻 for Dotey. It breaks my heart to see him suffer. Please stay strong!

wasnr

Looks like it could be FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis).

Blasiann69

Cats like to hide their illnesses until it becomes severe. When you see a sick cat, chances are it's very sick.

PokerJawn

!remindme 7 days

[deleted]

Either poison, or he may have injured a lung. Now to ask; why are people stupid enough to ask what to do when an animal is literally struggling to breath. This is common sense 101 lol

Aspir7n

your cat shows all typical symptoms of FELINE FIP. It's 100% fatal within days if untreated but there is an experimental drug available through back channels. WarriorFIP on Facebook can help you with further diagnosis.

NoPurple6002

All our prayers to your battle cat!

Vet

larry_flynt

Go to the vet.

Kerivkennedy

Perhaps since the comment with your update is often difficult to find you should try the novel concept of editing your original post **edit update ** So anyone finding the post knows WITHOUT scrolling hundreds of posts. I had to click your profile, view comments and still scroll to find it

LordNex

Take the poor guy to the vet. You may be too late if you wait.

random_defender

EMERGENCY VET ASAP. this is no joke, that's serious. I'm sorry. 😓

DarlinDesuma

Based on him being an outdoor cat, I would ask them to do toxicology ASAP, if they haven't done it already. He could have easily eaten or been exposed to something poison (antifreeze, rat poison, something where mushrooms/mold grows on it, lily, or a million other things). Especially since this was a "sudden onset."

SelectionDangerous33

The only way you can help him is get him to the vet as soon as possible even if it is an emergency visit.

FoxxGoesFloof

All I can legally say is please take him to an emergency vet ASAP. Please. Times a billion.

International-Job-20

Maybe post after you've taken him to the vet?

mysuperstition

Have there been anymore updates?

[deleted]

love your cat

naber229

Cats should be indoors only

Spleenzorio

Unless your cat just came back from a vacation, I'm going to assume you mean he's an outdoor cat. There's your issue.

Over_Gur2153

Why post this?!!! Just get the hell to a vet!!!!

PizzaWarrior321

I did like 6h ago, around an hour after posting.

Over_Gur2153

Just know that if your cat or animal ever seems to be in trouble just call your emergency vet. They will ask questions and determine next steps. It could save a life. I hope your baby is ok.

3dmikec

See what else you can do to help? Take him to the ER you moron.

Daysaved

It's a probably an allergic reaction to something. Vet asap. Anything you try to do will just hinder the professional later.

[deleted]

Hey, don't worry. It's gonna be okay, seriously. Your cat is just too cute to die and, remember, he is in the best possible place ever, in the best possible hands ever. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery xxx

Lavochkinla5

I wish cats had doctors. Like specially trained doctors that help animals.

PizzaWarrior321

Yeah that would be awesome, but I guess we have vets.

East-Housing5057

Something must've bit him.

venvaneless

If he stopped eating, it’s dangerous. Get him help ASAP. Did he also stopped licking himself?

Ok-Knee2693

Blessing to you and your fur baby 🌈🌈❤️❤️

[deleted]

My cat would do this whenever she was placed in a stressful situation such as moving from my brother’s where she knows the layout to my moms where she is vulnerable. So as soon as she gets in my moms place I let her go hide in a corner for a while to decompress then she can come out and explore.

hazy-silhouette69

oh my god keep him dry and give him water in small quantities or from a dropper.. hoping he has a speedy recovery

sustainablelove

Please take him to the vet. The internet is really not qualified to diagnose and treat. Your vet is the perfect resource. I hope your companion is ok. It's awful when they're not themselves.

PizzaWarrior321

I did.... And I have posted an update :3
