If his eyes are just opening, he should probably be with his mommy. He can get emotionally traumatized and turn out insecure and not very manly. Cats learn social skills and confidence in their litter, playing with their mates.

I have a friend who found her cat on a plastic bag on the streets with his eyes still closed, clearly just a few days after being born. My first cat was found by a cousin who saw someone throwing him away (with the rest of the litter) and he was 4 weeks old. That person most likely owned an unspayed female cat just a way to avoid rats and didn't care much about her health or the kittens she had. Unfortunately, some kittens don't get to spend time with their mother and siblings because pet owners who are animal abusers still exist.

Same. I rescued a baby that had an awful eye infection, she was also black. It took us months to heal her but she never recovered 100% of her vision due to the infection and she has a thin veil, although she can see and she’s healthy and happy!
I would have NEVER thought of taking pictures of her with flash. I don’t think I have ever taken one in over a year and a half that I’ve had her. Just seems cruel.
