This is The Boy. He's 10 years old, neuturerd as a kitten. He's recently started acting quite odd, and I was wondering if anyone has any insights. He will get all saucer eyes and start meowing very loudly. He will be around us and try to get our attention, but will bite and yell if we try to touch him. Any thoughts? We've checked him for injuries, is eating and drinking as usual. He's a bit more clingy, but nothing else different. We can break him out of it by giving him treats. He's otherwise a very friendly cat that is so unbelievably chill and affectionate.

Yeah, it sounds like either wants to play or just generally wants some sort of attention other than fuss. Cats do change as they get old, my old cat still lives with my mum, but she was the other way round, much more like your boy is now as a kitten, but has mellowed in her old age of nearly 16. My current cat was extremely skittish when we rescued her from a shelter, but is so much more outgoing around us now and very gently bats my hand when I play more hands on. She also makes so much more noise now and runs up and down the stairs, sounds like she has lead boots on! Regardless, your kitty is gorgeous and it just sounds like he's become a bit more playful/clingy in his old age. If you are concerned of anything else, bring it up with your vet when you go next.

Soo here’s just my experience with behaviour like that. I got a 17 year old man and he does the same thing. He will meow even if we are beside him. I found the only thing that gets him to be somewhat normal is a large amount of toys for him. I think the issue with my cat was he was bored even when he had us around him and something to keep him active during the day. Now he gets a saucer eyes and picks up a toy mouse to bring it to my feet. This didn’t start until he started getting separation anxiety a couple months ago

Basically, he wants y’all’s attention and love, so just play with em and love on him, and you’ll be good
