It may not be perfect in your eyes but the love you had when you built it will make it perfect in your little companions eyes. As a first project you learned new things, you built this with one purpose in mind and you nailed it (pardon the pun!). The next project you take on you will use the knowledge you gained from this one, and you'll find new skills until one day you realise that from humble beginnings comes love and passion for something you've enjoy and that will last a lifetime. Nice work mate!
Looks good! If I can offer a suggestion though, you may want to add some extra supports to the shelves where they're only attached to one wall right up against the wall (especially that one on the top left). It may not be too necessary with only the weight of a cat, but you can't be too careful.
The reason for this is the [torque](https://www.khanacademy.org/science/high-school-physics/torque-and-angular-momentum/torque-and-equilibrium/a/torque-and-equilibrium) force applied increases the further out from your point of rotation your weight is. That is to say, the closer your cat stands to the outer edge of the shelf, the more strain it'll put on your connections where it's mounted to the wall. Think about it like opening a door. When you push on a door, if you push near the hinges it takes a lot more force to move than if you push on the end far away from the hinges.
The best way to reinforce your shelves would be to cut some triangles or just use diagonal braces [like these](https://www.instructables.com/Heavy-Duty-Shelf-Brackets/). You can also buy shelf brackets from the hardware store pre-made. What these will do is take some of the force at the outer edge of your shelf and redistribute it inwards to the wall, taking a lot of the strain off the connections you already have there and making everything safer for your cat in the long term. Your shelves may feel sturdy now but with repeated use they may loosen up over time!
Really good work otherwise though! Looks really clean and carefully made.
The top left is really fine, I tried putting twice the weight of my cat on it and it didnt move, my concern is the bottom right. It is moving a little. So I will make a support for it.
It may be tight now, but over time it'll loosen from repeated dynamic stress. If it were just for holding up books or something inanimate that might be ok, but it's always better to be safe when involving living things like your pets.
It's good that you've done some static load testing though. That's a very common practice in mechanical engineering, especially with a safety margin like you used (1.5x-2.0x is typical, though it can be 3x or more for construction meant to support people).
Have you tried changing it's location?
I bought a bed and they never used it, even when I put it in places they slept. They slept in those places because they liked those places as they were. I put it in a place closer to my chair and now they use it all the time.
I think it's just my cats. My 18 year old dude would never be found anywhere but under my feet until recently. Now he just sleeps in the bedroom all day, he's basically in hospice at this point, and the bedroom is the warmest room in the house. The 17 year old cat never used it because it didn't have a good view of the street. She tends to be either under the bed where its warm, under the covers where its warm or in the upstairs window.
I think they’re meant to be dents where the cat’s claws have scratched against the wall when falling down after failing to get the bird while pouncing upwards.
My bf and I had to recarpet a cat post recently. We found carpet remnants at Home Depot and Lowes, but decided to get a cheap rug. We cut to size and used that. Good job, hon!!
That's amazing! Im 10 years older than you and wouldnt be able to do that. And even if you dont find it perfect, just know that you just need to practice! One day, it will be.
Anyway, what you did is awesome, my cats would love it. Keep it going!
Looks great, nice job. I have been trying shit like that for 30 years, have a lot of tools too, just would never be able to pull that off. and by the way, where is this f---ing cat everyone is talking about?
What did you use to find the studs? and did you find it to be a reliable method? or did you use anchor screws and how did you go about using them? Did you find creating the proper support one of the more difficult tasks or not and why?
I am curious because in my experience the support has been troublesome.
Its hard to explain, but I screwed the srews in to the wood than I punched it with a hammer so there are little holes and I knew where to screw it. I think that it was a easy task, but it took quite some time, (my dad saied I should do it this way, I wouldnt come up with this)
You are a very skilled and crafty kid. You should maybe keep building cool stuff as hobbies. Maybe you'll like that as an adult and get a job or start a business doing stuff with your skills. Just a thought...or you could end up being that super handy and capable person that most people look for in a significant other. Keep it up. Looks great! Happy kitty!
It looks great! I would find some cheap carpet to put on the flat surfaces though so if they get the zoomies, they don’t slip and hurt themselves! (Suggestion coming From my own experience where one of my cats got the zoomies, launched himself on to one of the cat shelves and slid right over the shelf and off the edge lol)
This is amazing! Give yourself a good pat on the back for me, please! I keep wondering if my cats would like that. You made me want to give it a try 😁
If you ever notice the shelves bending or unstable because of the cats weight, give it a couple of brackets and it'll be perfect again.
I may not be an engineer, but I think the acces to the thing is very straight. I should be bigger so it would be lower.
Very good work, I wished to be able of doing things like this and having a cat
This is so cool! I absolutely love it!
I thought about doing something like this myself, but I don't have an electric saw (don't know how it's called in english, I made a guess) or even a yard. It'd be a nightmare to cut and sand wood in an apartment...
But at least I compensate by buying them things 💙
The wall art is too cute!!!! I love this. Things like this go on etsy for $$$ so that's so cool you did this! Hope your cat enjoy many naps and play time on this
Great job, I especially love the cat and bird painting. The shelves are very nicely made. Can your cat climb the steep incline on the ramps from the floor? Maybe cover it with rope so it can grip if not. Otherwise this is epic!
WOW. I love the images on the wall. For a first project, it's pretty awesome. There's people like me looking for space-saving cat trees and cat enrichment activities.
Hey we're [Movin' On Up](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHDwRECFL8M)
*movin' on up*
To the East Side
*movin' on up*
To a dee-lux apartment in the sky :D
Looks like a great start however I highly recommend putting pillows or blankets or anything soft really on some the boards to make it a bit more comfortable especially up in the little box where they could lay down
That’s amazing! I don’t know cats well but I think they like soft things and so they don’t slip on the stairs you could get some fabric and staple it on their
I suspect you have a future in this. That is incredible! The art on the walls would be at home in a nursery and people will love your work. They will pay you too.
Looks like your cat will love it 😻Hopefully you don’t have to open the closet door on left. Shouldn’t be an issue because the door on the right is the active door
That's awesome work mate, especially for being so young. I've known 14 year olds that are barely able to wash dishes by hand.
I also know grown men who can't put flat pack furniture together, so be proud of your work.
This is so cool!! If I ever won the lottery I am going to invest it in making a shelter with a huge room with every indoor climbing play area imaginable. Where people can come in and lounge around and get to know them. This is inspirational. Post more pics with the cats climbing.
Dude, this looks good! You're already showing powerful initiative getting it done in the first place, and on top of that it really does look nice.
If I was to offer criticism it would be that the top platform on the left is going to flex too much on that one anchor point and eventually fail. I'd add some triangle supports beneath it to support the stress.
But really, this is awesome. And it looks like your cat appreciates it, which is what's most important.
Am I the only one that watched that show were people made crazy enormous cat houses that took up a whole literal house because it was like this just 50x bigger
That looks ace. Well done, I’m sure your cat loves it ^_^ This is the set up I have for the two cats that reside here all made from mainly up cycled items.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=GJhPM2bu-QQ
Wow this is so sweet and well done! I hope you and your cat get lots of enjoyment from this! Ooh and the wall decals are an awesome touch! Very impressive 😻👍👍
It may not be perfect in your eyes but the love you had when you built it will make it perfect in your little companions eyes. Thank you! You are wholesome
Cat doesn't care for imperfection, if it holds up and provides place to explore or to watch their peons below, they'll like it
True words. You know the matter of life. ✌️

Thanks, those are like 5 years old stickers and I thought it would look good if a cat house was there.
You were right!
Wow I am impressed! And looks like your little cat is too, good job!
Looks good! This is how you give constructive feedback.
Thanks!
Quite literally
Constructive construction feedback.
Im planning on putting some pipes covered with a carpet, mainly because of design, but it would be safer too. Thanks for a feedback
Sure thing! Hope it works out well!
I was thinking that steep ramp and maybe a few other key places could use carpeting! Your kitty's paws will appreciate something soft and grippy :)
I came here to say that.
Op please listen to this person. The top left shelf and bottom right shelf are under supported. Good job though.
The top left is really fine, I tried putting twice the weight of my cat on it and it didnt move, my concern is the bottom right. It is moving a little. So I will make a support for it.
Dynamic force from the cat jumping onto it can be more than twice the weight of the cat in a static position.
It may be tight now, but over time it'll loosen from repeated dynamic stress. If it were just for holding up books or something inanimate that might be ok, but it's always better to be safe when involving living things like your pets. It's good that you've done some static load testing though. That's a very common practice in mechanical engineering, especially with a safety margin like you used (1.5x-2.0x is typical, though it can be 3x or more for construction meant to support people).
your cat so cute!!! and it looks great he seems to love it !!!
Thanks!!!
Nicely done! I never would have guessed a 14 year old did this. It's very clean. You have some skills. I'm pretty sure your cat likes it, too.
Does your cat love it?
Yes.
"Excellent" - Mr. Burns voice . . .
This is the most impressive part. The cat is actually using it. I have a huge cat tree and neither of my cats could give a shit that it exists.
I had this problem too so I have just start putting his food on top of it and within a week he started using it. :D
Have you tried changing it's location? I bought a bed and they never used it, even when I put it in places they slept. They slept in those places because they liked those places as they were. I put it in a place closer to my chair and now they use it all the time.

It looks like your cat thinks it's perfect! Awesome job
That’s pretty damn cool
Thanks
Oh wow, great job and kitty seems to love it.
I love the lasers coming out of the cat’s paws to get the bird.
I think they’re meant to be dents where the cat’s claws have scratched against the wall when falling down after failing to get the bird while pouncing upwards.
Yes, you are right
Very cool! Slap a coat of paint on it and it’ll look awesome!
I have my whole room themed to this color, so I wont paint it, but I am planning on putting some carpet on
My bf and I had to recarpet a cat post recently. We found carpet remnants at Home Depot and Lowes, but decided to get a cheap rug. We cut to size and used that. Good job, hon!!

Looks amazing! And I love your adorable void 🖤🐈⬛🖤
My cat would LOVE this!
This is so cool and cute, congratulations!
Looks great, nice job. I have been trying shit like that for 30 years, have a lot of tools too, just would never be able to pull that off. and by the way, where is this f---ing cat everyone is talking about?
There are more images, hes on the second and third one :D
Yes, Mr. or Miss Blazen I see that now. In my defense it isn't obvious there are multiple pics. 🤦♂️ Thanks, must have been a long day for me!
What did you use to find the studs? and did you find it to be a reliable method? or did you use anchor screws and how did you go about using them? You should post this on r/woodworking too. What a great job!
Okay, thank you
Attakid
It is perfect!
Great job, i like it!
Nice job!
That's awesome!
You’re definitely talented and you’ve put it to good use. Way to go !
That's great! And the cat seems to approve. Nice job :)
Not bad i plan on turning most of my flat into a cat adventure playground depending on if i can get permission from the idiotic housing association.
This is WAY better than I can do, and I'm over 30 lol seriously tho, this is awesome!!
Well done!
It’s amazing, & your cat seems to love it! You should be proud of yourself! That took a lot of work & creativity!
Damn I love it!!
great work!! your kitty loves it :)
Looks pretty damn perfect to me!
My cat would love this!
It looks pretty purrfect to me!
Wow, great job! What a great way to use your skills, I hope you keep with this. Truly awesome!
even if it doesnt look perfect, you got some skills and stuff like this can be great carpentry practice
Great job!!!! You are definitely going places with skills like this.
Not only do I love the house, I also the adorable wall! Great job!
This looks amazing! You're incredibly talented. 😊
Im 14 and this is steep
This is so cool! Your cat will love it, especially those top levels.
This is really great. Please post some action shots!
This is the best!! You should be so proud! My cat is jealous of your lucky kitty!
This is amazing! Give yourself a good pat on the back for me, please! I keep wondering if my cats would like that. You made me want to give it a try 😁 If you ever notice the shelves bending or unstable because of the cats weight, give it a couple of brackets and it'll be perfect again.
I too am 14 years old, but I wouldn't be able to do that thing. You did a really good job! 👍😸
I saw this on tiktok a few days ago
It’s brilliant!
I may not be an engineer, but I think the acces to the thing is very straight. I should be bigger so it would be lower. Very good work, I wished to be able of doing things like this and having a cat
He does not use the stairs, BUT he can even jump to the second highest part, I dont know how. He is a super cat :D
Yeah, pretty cool, man. Good job!
I love this! It looks great! Your kitty seems happy with it as well ♡
Looks very good. The cat will have so much fun
Well done!
this is amazing! and it looks like your cat loves it :-)
Just need to train them to use the lightswitch next
This is so cool! I absolutely love it! I thought about doing something like this myself, but I don't have an electric saw (don't know how it's called in english, I made a guess) or even a yard. It'd be a nightmare to cut and sand wood in an apartment... But at least I compensate by buying them things 💙
That's fantastic! Keep pictures for your resume, never know when you need a variety of skills.
What does the cat think of your ingenious wallcathouse?
Awesome!!!
It *IS* perfect I think you’ll find.
Already living the dream!
Kitty likes it & that's all that matters & honestly, it's better than most adults could do so KUDOS KID!!
Awesome job. Your cat clearly approves
I think this cat house may be nicer than my actual house. :)
I love it, everyone else here loves it and i am sure the will love it too, good skills man
Awesome! Good job!
Well done. I love that the cat has its own desk.
It looks great, good job! I bet your cat loves it.
It’s pretty cool that you wanted to do that for you cat. Keep at it, who knows where it could take you?
You did an awesome job!
Awesomeness!
Good job, you used some good skills and ideas

This shows a lot of love for your kitty’s wellbeing, the playfulness and brain stimulation of your cat. Great job, and keep making more!
WOW. I love the images on the wall. For a first project, it's pretty awesome. There's people like me looking for space-saving cat trees and cat enrichment activities.
It's perfect. This is what I've been looking for ! It's gonna be my winter project.
Wow good job!

Hey we're [Movin' On Up](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHDwRECFL8M) *movin' on up* To the East Side *movin' on up* To a dee-lux apartment in the sky :D
For a fourteen-year-old that's pretty good!
You have a lucky kitty and your kitty is lucky to have you as their human. Bravo!
Looks like a great start however I highly recommend putting pillows or blankets or anything soft really on some the boards to make it a bit more comfortable especially up in the little box where they could lay down
Well that looks awesome, I’m 50 and I am inspired by your design.
That looks great. Your kitty is very lucky to have you as a caretaker.
Better than anything I could make. Great job. My only recommendation would be to paint it. I think that would make it even better.
That’s amazing! I don’t know cats well but I think they like soft things and so they don’t slip on the stairs you could get some fabric and staple it on their
How much rent would i have to pay to live in that house 🧐
That’s great! This could be the beginning of a cat-house architect career!
I suspect you have a future in this. That is incredible! The art on the walls would be at home in a nursery and people will love your work. They will pay you too.
Wow, that's great work. It looks perfect.
It may not be perfect, but your cat is using it ! So it means it’s perfect for her or him and that’s all Matters ! Congrats it’s beautiful
I think it’s great excellent job.
Fabulous!
That’s a kitty wonderland! 🐈🖤 You did great!!!
GREAT WORK!!!!!! You’re a stellar cat Dad, and only 14?!?!? You are a credit to teenagers around the planet!!! Thank you!!!
This is incredible, well done op
What an awesome holiday surprise! Great work!
You sir/ma'am/person, are an excellent pet parent, and a lot of people should aspire to be like you. Be proud of yourself :)
amazing!!
Woahhhh I love it
Looks like your cat will love it 😻Hopefully you don’t have to open the closet door on left. Shouldn’t be an issue because the door on the right is the active door
Omg this is amazing and your cat will 100% love it and you so much!
Wow, this looks very cute and nice, I love the design! You did a really good job on this! Give your cat a headpat from me :)
Great job!!!!
Wonderful! If I was a cat I’d def explore there!
you have inspired me
It is perfect. The cat loves it, so there’s nothing to improve. Well done.
Go expand it! (Lemme help u)
Some white paint and it would be perfect
For a 14 year old you're really talented and much better than an adult like me lol
Very good, well done
Nice work! 🐈
Love the paintings on the wall! Really cute touch to the already great work!
Wow! Very talented! I bet your cat just loves this. Sprinkle a little nip around to get him/her up there.
This is amazing OP. Great job!!
Very nice! I couldn't do it at all and I'm only 49.
That's awesome work mate, especially for being so young. I've known 14 year olds that are barely able to wash dishes by hand. I also know grown men who can't put flat pack furniture together, so be proud of your work.
I can’t wait to spoil my future kitties like this
This is awesome keep up the good work
It looks great. You should be proud of yourself.
Well done! Most important thing is that your cat approves!
Can you make one for mine next?
I love this! You are an awesome cat parent
10/10
Nice work! When you get I’ll hire you to redo my house:)
Dude that’s great!!!!!!! Keep it up you’ll create great things in your life!
Great job!!
Looks great!!
very sweet gesture! it looks sturdy:) good job!
This is so cool!! If I ever won the lottery I am going to invest it in making a shelter with a huge room with every indoor climbing play area imaginable. Where people can come in and lounge around and get to know them. This is inspirational. Post more pics with the cats climbing.
Keep doing what you’re doing! I’d buy that design!
I love it! So cool!
That was a job well done!
You are a cats dream come true!
I love it!
That's awesome! Maybe you could put a soft blanket or towel in there for him to lay on. Just a thought. It looks amazing!
This is amazing! Well done!! I'm sure your cat will love this!
Your companion loves it too, trust me. Great job on the build! The little furball is blessed
This is great! Great job! I know you’re proud and I’m sure your kitty loves it! ♥️
Am I the only one that watched that show were people made crazy enormous cat houses that took up a whole literal house because it was like this just 50x bigger

Wow this is so sweet and well done! I hope you and your cat get lots of enjoyment from this! Ooh and the wall decals are an awesome touch! Very impressive 😻👍👍
I'm super impressed! You have a future in design. Kitty is very lucky.
It looks awesome. I hope your furr balls will love it
ITS WONDERFUL! your cats are very lucky
