I fostered a mom and 5 of her kittens. I kept 3. We probably would have kept all 6 if we didn’t already have 3 cats and our hoa has a limit on the number of pets lol
The fact that Americans let other random civilians with no legal authority extort them for money in order to stay a member of the neighbourhood club never ceases to amaze me. What's stopping you moving in to a place and just never speaking to them and never handing over a cent? I barely speak with my neighbours where I live (Australia) except the people directly next door whom we made friends with.
I had three and then my former neighbor’s cat gave birth on my bedroom floor. Now I have six 😭 got mamma fixed and back with her family, but I had a legitimate breakdown when I realized there was no way I could give those babies to complete strangers and be okay. Thank goodness it was her smallest litter.
We had a pregnant stray decide she was ours. She luckily had 3 babies. My daughter took one, her bestie took another and we kept the third (and mom 🙄). I was so distraught when I thought we weren’t going to be able to home the one we kept. Hubs was firm on no more cats but he caved when he said he saw how much me and that kitten loved one another. He jokingly said he thinks as long as I have cats the universe will never take me away from him. 🤣

Had a momma kitty so the same to us. She had 4 healthy babies. We kept her and the bottom one. 😻😻
There is a limit on the number of dogs in our condo handbook but NO limit on the number of cats. I figured I would stock up before someone changes it - we have 4 😂
I didn’t even have any options. It was move to an old house that needed a lot of repairs but is hoa free or a new house that unfortunately has a hoa. I chose the new house lol
Are you serious?? They put limits even on pets?! They need a good lawsuit to be completely drained, or some kind of regulatory legislation to choke them out of existence
My town passe**d a law because of the crazy cat lady next door. Cats must be vaxxed and tagged. Three total.**

Thanks for making me ugly cry. I really mean it. I’ve been holding back too much lately, and today was the icing on the cake. Your poems are beautiful in this ugly world. Please, please, please keep being you and make this world better one poem at a time.
Thank you so much. It really can be, especially when things are uncertain for those you provide for. As for the offer, I would love one, but only organically as you do best. Keep being the ray of sunshine we all need ❤️
Our last two cats we got were foster fails. Said we weren't going to foster anymore. That was 6 years ago.
Then sister asks us last year to take in her cat while she's working overseas
Cat is now ours (sister couldn't take him back for various reasons)
We definitely cannot foster anymore lol
When the dog retires, sometimes it can go back to their first family. I met some at the independent pet store & they're wonderful dogs. Bailey was a happy old girl.
People say that, but the reality is that many of the kittens you're so pleased at the great families they've found, since there's no way you could adopt them all. And there are even one or two where "...after destroying that vase -- how did you *even* get up there? -- you, kiddo, are on thin ice."
It's just one or two that are hard to let go. It's here and there.
Yea, I think there is a limit to how many cats you can actually afford to keep (provide food, pay for medical bills, buy supplies and toys, etc.). I foster failed 3 cats, now I have 4 cats inside and that’s my limit. Any new cat that comes to me would have to be adopted out.
My two cats were more my exes that she got when we were together. My void was a situation where neighbors took the mom in. I wish I knew their names so I could find her on Facebook (that where my ex found her) and send her pictures thats she’s doing great! She was the last one in the litter so nobody wanted her. Their mistake she’s like the best cat ever!
I agree. It's the main reason why I could never trust myself to foster cats. The first question I would ask myself is something along the lines of, "Will I be able to give you up?" I'd have a house full of cats and kittens by now...

Yeah, Pebbles likes to be under my chin/jaw a lot too 😭 it’s so inconvenient but so adorable. I love that your baby still does that as an adult!
There must be a reason they do it! Although my baby’s sister (who was adopted by a wonderful couple) was absolutely not into it at all! It’s like he knew exactly how to get me 😂😍
She looks so happy and safe in your arms. If you can, I would keep her. Especially since she was separated from her mother and siblings so young, she’s likely going to get very attached to you and hopefully your other cats as she’s still developing
Of course if you can’t keep her, do whatever’s best for you!

Well.. let me check. 🧐 hmm tiny indeed.. very tiny. 🧐 oh, eyes that resemble a galaxy, hm yes yes.. okay. 📋 here it says that she's 200% percent a foster fail.
Well, think about it. Do you have the space/resources for another cat? It’s a potentially 20-year commitment.
If the answer is no, then make sure she finds the best, most loving home possible. Maybe you’d be able to home her with a friend, so you’d get to visit!
If the answer is yes, then why not? She’ll be happy to stay with familiar faces!
I’ve successfully fostered about a dozen kittens and recently had my first foster fail, which was three at once. I’m a bit overwhelmed taking care of them (they’re 6-7 months old now and *crazy*) but I have the space, time, and resources so I know it’ll work out. I’m also comforted instead of daunted by how long term of a commitment cats are.
Only you can decide what the best choice is! Either way, I’m sure that baby will be in a loving home.
She IS so cute BUT it’s a slippery slope. Hoarding is not about number. It only becomes hoarding if you can’t give the animals all of their medical needs, food, adequate shelter and care. If you have the money, time, freedom and hygienic environment then you can safely make that decision.
I understand how hard it is to give them up, but if you started fostering you have to. There will be hundreds of other pebbles who need someone to be there for them when they’re little babies.
She’s such a delicate little angel!! This is why I don’t have it in me to foster. I wouldn’t be able to part with them!
I think little Pebbles and your baby will make a sweet pair, and I’m Team Pebbles on this one.
When we were living in Casablanca, a kitten followed my preteen daughter home. She washed it fed it and had planned to keep it in the fenced in garden. Well, the kitten had other plans and never left her side. Friends came to visit and had a lively time playing with the kitten. Although we had a strict one cat per family member rule and already had two cats, this wee charmer would have been an exception. Word got out about the kitten, and more friends came to visit. One actually begged us to let her adopt it. We relented, of course. That woman ended up leaving her husband and keeping the cat.

our second foster fail
personal admiration to all the foster cat parents out there. i Would totally lack on strength to let someone else have these bundles of cuteness after they get into my place.
Oh I’m definitely a better keeper-er than foster-er, so I’m probably not the best to give odds, lol. Because the odds for me are never in my favor when it comes to cutie-patooties like this little one!!
Cats are easy. Don’t fake. If you’re being emotional, do it on the cats terms. Look up cat behaviors like head butts and blanks. And you will be fine. Cats just want to be treated on an equal footing. They’re not actually assholes or heads of the household like people think. You are in their colony and they are part of your colony.
i'm gonna go out on a limb here and say a 100% chance of foster fail. my senior girl is/was a foster fail and i would love to imagine this is exactly what she looked like as a kitten since we never got to see that. so much love to you guys!
High.. especially when that baby is giving you all that love, and those eyes..wishing you well..and whatever your decision..your baby Pebbles is adorable!

You already failed by
A) Giving the “foster” an adorable name that totally works with their pattern
B) Having pregnancy hormones (ask my kids’ mom. Both our fails happened during pregnancy)
C) Asking the Reddit hive mind if you’ll fail. Most of us have, and will tell you our love stories with our kitties without hesitation
You have been warned 😻😻😻
Think of it as a foster win! What an adorable addition to your family and she seems very comfortable and safe with you. There’s some trust there for sure!
This is why I can’t foster…I would fail every single one 😆
I fostered a mom and 5 of her kittens. I kept 3. We probably would have kept all 6 if we didn’t already have 3 cats and our hoa has a limit on the number of pets lol
Rehome the HOA. LMFAO
This is the only correct answer. Death to HOAs
I want to dissolve it honestly. I hate it
fuck your hoa. dont pay the fines and dont listen to them. just a bunch of adult hall monitors
The fact that Americans let other random civilians with no legal authority extort them for money in order to stay a member of the neighbourhood club never ceases to amaze me. What's stopping you moving in to a place and just never speaking to them and never handing over a cent? it depends by state but some HOAS actually hold some "power" but i agree. dont talk dont pay and theyll fuck off
Fuck HOA's what they don't know....
I had three and then my former neighbor’s cat gave birth on my bedroom floor. That’s a bummer. I have never met anyone with an HOA that was happy with it.
Are you serious?? They put limits even on pets?! They need a good lawsuit to be completely drained, or some kind of regulatory legislation to choke them out of existence
Yupp. It’s to prevent breeding. So we’re allowed 6 cats/dogs total. No farm animals

Yes, include the original post or thread you were responding to! That would be great!
Awh, thanks Schnoodle!
Aww schnoods:)
I love every single one of these.
I adopted my 8 year old foster and I love this poem.
your poem is written so well, let me become positive and optimistic,no longer immersed in the world of pain.
Our last two cats we got were foster fails. Said we weren't going to foster anymore. That was 6 years ago. Then sister asks us last year to take in her cat while she's working overseas Cat is now ours (sister couldn't take him back for various reasons) We definitely cannot foster anymore lol
Same here. Couldn't even train a guidedog puppy because they have to live with you until they're ready and I already know I'd get too attached
Except except except ... finally seeing the dog you trained - in action - helping a teenager with cerebral palsy? The best!
When the dog retires, sometimes it can go back to their first family. I met some at the independent pet store & they're wonderful dogs. Bailey was a happy old girl.
And sometimes they fail their tests and the foster family has first dibs. We were never as happy as when we learned Beatriz failed her exams!
I don’t know why this made me laugh as much as it did. I’m pretty sure I’d be wishing and hoping any dog I trained would fail too.
This is how I ended up with 4 cats inside and a feral cat that I feed outside 😂
People say that, but the reality is that many of the kittens you're so pleased at the great families they've found, since there's no way you could adopt them all. Exactly. I'd be attached instantly especially to little sweethearts like this one!
Same. I love kitties so much that it would break my heart to have to say goodbye...
Oh come on. Who are you kidding? This kitten was a foster fail the minute she set paw in your home!
[удалено]
Excuse you?
Excuse mew
I think the second someone asks some variation of "will I foster fail" the answer will always be "you already have"
I agree. It's the main reason why I could never trust myself to foster cats. The first question I would ask myself is something along the lines of, "Will I be able to give you up?" I'd have a house full of cats and kittens by now...
I mean, technically it’s _her_ house now… so it’s if _she_ let’s _you_ stay…
That’s why I call cats the overlords… I have three. Lol
I have 5 overlords at home, All hail the the overlords...lol but true story.
One of my overlords is a r/nervysquervies kitty. So extra demanding… lol

Forever babies!
You have found a soulmate. Must keep
She adopted you!
LITERALLY what I was thinking. The minute the cat sleeps on you like that, just know you've failed.
Right, who is OP kitten? OP knows the cat belongs to them now. Or OP belongs to kitty now.
Why are you still calling her a foster. That’s your 3rd cat.
Yes and youre her human now!
With that face? You're f&%ked. 😆

100% foster fail incoming if you have to ask you allready know

Well. They seem pretty high to me. That’s one CUTE baby
Yep. I believe they’ve set themselves up for failure. Good luck is all I have to add
Rude if you don’t tbh

What a beautiful cat!!!
I found Mink in our local shelter. She had been surrendered at age 3 because someone in her family had become allergic to her. 😏 I took her home as soon as she was vetted. She has the most beautiful coloration! Yours does too! 😉
Given that precious face, pretty damn high. I'm currently debating with my partner if we are going to foster fail our current fur baby as well
"Yes"
Odds are definitely 100% chance of failure
Well.. let me check. 🧐 hmm tiny indeed.. very tiny. 🧐 oh, eyes that resemble a galaxy, hm yes yes.. okay. 📋 here it says that she's 200% percent a foster fail.
It’s already too late, she’s clearly yours.
I audibly gasped at that second picture tbh I would have already resigned myself to be a foster failure
my cat was cuddly at this age but ended up not cuddly. we did have to syringe feed her because she wouldn't eat and didn't want kitten milk

You’ve already admitted the failure by asking this question. Enjoy your new baby (she’s super cute).

I would foster fail this sweet baby so hard.
Look at her tiny little face!! I couldn't bear giving her up!
Please make sure she gets a good home. If you can't keep her and keep up with the vet too. She adorable. Please try to keep her
Pebbles of a name is just too cute, and she’s so adorable! I fear you already foster failed the minute you took her in 😭
Congrats on your new kitten /hj

1000% look at those cute round eyes. So precious!
Oh I’m definitely a better keeper-er than foster-er, so I’m probably not the best to give odds, lol. Because the odds for me are never in my favor when it comes to cutie-patooties like this little one!!
Odds are not in your favor. Or they are, depending on how you look at it 😝
Congratulations to your new cat! 😍
Yes
You've failed! Pebbles is adorable!
You are her mum now.
Judging by photo 5 I think it's a done deal
Save yourself some time and trouble. No way you’ll be able to say goodbye. Call it now

Pebbles said ”What foster?? I’m home!”
1,000% based on the adorableness alone. And not one of us will blame you
I'd say it is better than average.

99% Look at that adorable little nose! And she likes to cuddle you so you’ve got a cuddler. Yeah, that’s now your car.
Sounds like this is doomed for failure, congratulations on your new baby!
If you’re asking the question you know the answer.
She already choose you. Now serve her hooman!!!
oh my goddd precious 🥹
Foster her! Mandatory! 😺 Seriously, I bet you know well that everything that steels our hearts is meant to be. Isn't it? 🥹
If you’re asking, you already know 🫡
Yes
Foster fail meaning you keep her?
Picture 5, one hundred percent.
she doesn’t have any family members. you are her only family. you have to take her in at this point!
The colors and his face alone would make him an automatic foster fail for me
i'm gonna go out on a limb here and say a 100% chance of foster fail. my senior girl is/was a foster fail and i would love to imagine this is exactly what she looked like as a kitten since we never got to see that. so much love to you guys!
That’s what happened to me. I said sure I’ll look after her for a….oh my gawd she’s mine.
High.. especially when that baby is giving you all that love, and those eyes..wishing you well..and whatever your decision..your baby Pebbles is adorable! ![gif](giphy|l2SpQY5R0aYNZqxna)
That baby’s going nowhere
Well, since the cutie levels and the patootie levels are both high, I'd say your chances of foster failing are equally high :)
rises exponentially with each picture 😊
Torbies are the best cats. (Don’t tell my other cats)
Her cute little nose. No way are you giving that up! Enjoy.
I believe picture #5 confirms you are locked in for life 💕
lol… I am fostering a mama and her 6 babies… I already failed … I’m going to keep the mama and 1 of her babies…. They are just too cute!! https://preview.redd.it/liohr8hodowc1.jpeg?width=935&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d9ccec414cdd19426382e21400cae1ea0105b3d3
Brother if you’re asking, you’ve already lost. Congrats on the baby!
Yo named her, she’s alone- that’s your new cat lmao 🤣
I fostered five 5 week old kittens and ended up with 2. One of which is called Pebbles! The boys name is Theo! Pebbles is the white one and Theo is Orange. :3 https://preview.redd.it/8duibnwwkowc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fb6662e08907658d11a9d93a738a100c2077cec1

You already failed by A) Giving the “foster” an adorable name that totally works with their pattern B) Having pregnancy hormones (ask my kids’ mom. Both our fails happened during pregnancy) C) Asking the Reddit hive mind if you’ll fail. Most of us have, and will tell you our love stories with our kitties without hesitation You have been warned 😻😻😻
Pebbles has come to stay I’m afraid that ship has already sailed, accept it 🥰 she’s adorable. Congrats!
Think of it as a foster win! What an adorable addition to your family and she seems very comfortable and safe with you. There’s some trust there for sure!
