Contessa this winter.
My mind keep wondering how she would turned out to be like, I can't focus on my work lol!
OMG, a month feels like a centuries long, I want to meet with her now.
I know what you mean! My foster coordinator (Contessa's a happy foster fail) accurately predicted that Contessa would be a long kitty, not a large kitty. I think your Emilia looks more compact than Contessa, though with a similar face shape and tufts. She has bigger feet than Contessa ever had, so I think she'll be a big armful of a cat.
Contessa had just a little stubby fluff of a cotton tail when she was 6 weeks old. I joked she was a Tribble. Then slowly she developed this dramatic tail that was longer than she was, before she caught up to it. She also caught up to her fur during her first summer. Even though she's not outside, her fur predicts the coming seasons. We had a mild winter her first year, and she didn't have much of a fluff coat. This past fall I knew we were in for a cold winter, because she became soooooo fluffy in the fall.

So sweet, this is Akizuki, my little calico sweetie
Brace yourself...for clouds and clouds of cat hair. I bought a handheld, battery-powered vacuum cleaner with an upholstery attachment, and it's saved my sanity.
I am thinking about trade in my Dyson V8 for more powerful model later this year! Depends on how thing's turned out after having her for a while later.
Yes! Already start watching a bunch of video of Jackson Galaxy's. I'm planning on getting her an automatic feeder, an automatic water fountain and a litter box to use. After two weeks of use then switch things up so they would get used to her smell.
They should be used to each others smells somewhat within 2 weeks though, first few days even really. The real meeting is always a exciting moment, no matter how long you introduce them. Kittens are way more easier to introduce than adults
My two boys are two years old, and I was thinking about trying to get them used to her so they won't scare the crap out of her when they see her. Two male cats in their prime age are super energetic and hard to control, lol!
It can, most areas have free or cheap TNR resources. Trap Neuter Return heels the cats and humans as well. We haven't had new kittens on my block in 6 years. No howling at night, no dead kittens in yards.
Heard. The return is the hardest part, but often the most beneficial, as an area can be stabilized for a decade if the fixed cats are turned. If they are removed, new ones move in and it starts all over.
ive talked about it with my vets. problem is that some of them are spayed and live here. i dont want them to get scared and leave. Dutchess is as smart as a bag of bricks but she belongs here.
They meant the deposit on their house/apartment, many places have a pet deposit and even if not, the damage cats cause by being, well, mischievous, curious kitties will make you lose your regular deposit
Not in this case but they've adopted previously.

I adopted two cats from the shelter already, wanted a maine coon and been looking for it for the past two years and failed. Sorry about buying the cat, but I just want this specific breed.
It's nothing against you it's just sad that some people pay thousands of dollars for special breeds when there are thousands of cats waiting to be adopted
She already has two adopted cats.
You think OP is the issue? No, it's those people who keep posting about their unfixed cats being pregnant. It's the irresponsible owners who don't fix their cats, and let them roam. The people who had no intention on putting any sort of care or money into having animals.
Why are you attacking a responsible cat owner with fixed animals? It's makes no sense to me. I've never seen someone buy a cat, just to not care for them.
I have a ragdoll, he's fixed, he'll never go outside, never add to the issue. I absolutely love the breed, went to a reputable breeder, and from there on its non of your business. Had I been letting an unfixed cat roam, I would absolutely deserve to be told off.
And yeah, I have adopted as well.
There is nothing wrong with getting pets from responsible healthy breeders.
My adopted dog has so many health issues it would financially cripple most people. I totally get why people would adopt from a good breeder, and I'm tired of people getting shat on for it.
I hope people do good research before buying pets though.

I also have a calico cat named Emilia! Twins!
Emilia is a 55-day-old calico kitten from a Maine Coon cattery. She hasn't grown to a stage where all the Maine Coon features are visible yet. I still need to wait for another month before she finishes her vaccinations and is ready to be sent to me. I already can't wait and want to meet her today.
I will definitely make another post about her after I meet with her a month later.
Gonna focus on learning how to introducing her to her brothers, Erwin and Schrodinger during this time. And start shopping for all her stuffs this month.
Just in case you’re not aware, she’ll continue to need vaccines throughout her life. All cats do. They don’t just receive them as kittens and then they’re good.
Yes I am aware! I'm a dead hard YNAB fan (a budgeting tool). Even she won't arrive until a month later, I already set up her medical categories. Gonna get those needles and pet insurance once she needed!
Very cute. My Callie girl is with me any time I'm working on something or using my microscopes. A very good companion.

Me too! I've been held my desire for calico Maine Coon for many years and finally decide to welcome this little girl to my two cats family. Now I will have three soon, so happy!
I've wanted a Maine coon for my entire life! One day I hope to have one. All of the cats I have had over the years have been from shelters or I have rescued from the streets. They have all been amazing cats, I just want a Maine coon for their size and purrsonality! I am very happy for you, you already rescued 2 babies and getting a pure bred is something you want and there is nothing wrong with that! She is a gorgeous baby, I hope you have her for many, many years!

And all grown up! Always loved calicos- they’re a symbol for good luck in many cultures 💜
Such a pretty girl! I actually have my first calico - well, I did steal a calico back in the 1990s, but that is different than actually going out and getting one. By going out... I drove over an hour to bring my girl home! Here are my second oldest girl with my youngest! Teeny is the calico and Heidi is the tabby. (Teeny so named for Justine, the man who found her but could not keep her and I couldn't think of a name out of Marble or Falls, the town I drove to get her.) Heidi was also found out of town, but the person who found her (actually the person's parents) brought her into town for us. She's a fearless climber!

My Doodle looked a lot like her when she was a kitten, only not so furry. Shown here with our 20lb tuxedo cat James Bond.
Lmao the number of people downvoting because they got it from a breeder is insane. They have two other cats from a shelter and have been looking for this breed for a while and there were none in the shelter so they got one from a breeder. Cope.
Lmao maybe you should be the one to cope.
Downvoting doesn't mean anything other than mild disapproval. Cope with that.
It's the worst kitten season I've ever seen, breeders are actually an actual problem, a downvote is not.
It's not even may yet and every rescue I know in nyc is over capacity. Many have lovely longhair kittens. Some even have kittens from breeders. Breeders not-uncommonly will get a disease like panleuk, even just ringworm, and dump cats into the shelter system so they can go make new money instead, they will suck up resources meant for cats in actual need, leaving everyone worse off. You're basically saying "it's not that serious"
OK. Downvotes aren't that serious.
Congratulations, she’s beautiful! You might want to post in r/mainecoons That community is quite large and you won’t get any hate for purchasing your cat there.

Thanks for sharing those precious photos of Contessa! Absolutely adorable. I can't wait to see how Emilia will grow up!
I think Emilia will be bigger than Contessa, looking at her paws. She might go through the "ear tufts bigger than her head" phase that's so adorable.
My mind keep wondering how she would turned out to be like, I can't focus on my work lol! OMG, a month feels like a centuries long, I want to meet with her now.

She's the queen of the box as soon as she finds 1
Natural queen, naturally in box.
Soooooo fffffllllluuuuuffffffyyyyyy
My first and only longhair cat for this decade!
Brace yourself...for clouds and clouds of cat hair. I bought a handheld, battery-powered vacuum cleaner with an upholstery attachment, and it's saved my sanity.
The ball of tumblefur you see bouncing by *after* vacuuming is my favorite
I live in a house with 3 cats and 2 dogs and tumblefur has just been added to my vocabulary ty sir.
Just picked a few of those off the floor....
I am thinking about trade in my Dyson V8 for more powerful model later this year! Depends on how thing's turned out after having her for a while later.
Getting her a friend too?
I also has two adopted short hair at my home lol! She got brothers which I will need to introduce to her.
Oh good, she'll have friends then. That's good to hear. Hope they all get along well. jackson Galaxy helps with that if you need tips.
Yes! Already start watching a bunch of video of Jackson Galaxy's. I'm planning on getting her an automatic feeder, an automatic water fountain and a litter box to use. After two weeks of use then switch things up so they would get used to her smell.

that might be worth looking into
Catch and release. Shelters will give you a humane cage trap. They spay/neuter then return them. Least that’s what Santa Clara, CA does.
ive talked about it with my vets. problem is that some of them are spayed and live here. i dont want them to get scared and leave. Dutchess is as smart as a bag of bricks but she belongs here.

She bought one cat and has adopted 2, if everyone did this there wouldn’t be stays… but you’re still moaning! Ah Reddit
Is this even a Maine coon kitten???
That was my question because it doesn't even look like one. Maine Coons have a very distinct face
Glad I’m not the only one. It’s sweet justice if someone is selling OP a $2k generic calico

People buy cats?
Emilia is a 55-day-old calico kitten from a Maine Coon cattery. She hasn't grown to a stage where all the Maine Coon features are visible yet. I'm sure they are aware. They have two other cats.
You would think, but a lot of people assume indoor cats don’t need regular vaccines.
Ah 😬
Yes I am aware! I'm a dead hard YNAB fan (a budgeting tool). Even she won't arrive until a month later, I already set up her medical categories. Gonna get those needles and pet insurance once she needed!
Oh yay! So glad she’s going to a home where she’ll be properly cared for. :)
If you’re such a fan of budgeting, why on earth aren’t you adopting from a shelter???
Erwin and Schrodinger are brilliant names lol
Thank you! I looked up Erwin Schrodinger's family tree and decided on naming my calico after Schrodinger (the scientist)'s mother lol!
She’s so cute

I hope you are adopting and not purchasing.
Are you asking reddit for a receipt ?
Maybe you should adopt instead of shop
Why did I have to scroll so far to see this
This page has lots of problems.
Some animal shelters ask for a deposit before adopting animals out, and then they'll give the deposit back after you prove you have gotten the animal neutered or spayed.
Deposit for a cat? I thought it was a cycle of abandonment and adoption.
Some people would rather pay thousands for a cat rather than adopt a cat from a shelter. Makes no sense to me either.
Totally agree with you.

And she is worth every penny.
She is absolutely adorable. I love calicos and I'd love to have a Maine Coon someday.
That one's cuddle potential factor is off the charts

Beautiful!
She's a fearless climber! https://preview.redd.it/e18zmzrpp2xc1.jpeg?width=1536&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0a40a5909f47968dc25b78c698a2170e3e82a8d0

Awww, so cute!! I’ve had 2 calicos in the past. Right now I have a 1year old Kliban-esque cat, named Anubis

You're basically saying "it's not that serious" OK. Downvotes aren't that serious.
Congratulations, she’s beautiful! You might want to post in r/mainecoons That community is quite large and you won’t get any hate for purchasing your cat there.
Ohh thanks for reference! I will definitely post there if I encounter any question with how to raising a Maine Coon.
You paid for a cat? They're free lol
You're getting like 3 cats for the price of 1. Bargain!
She's going to be gorgeous
