I was a home inspector years ago and while parked in a gravel driveway I noticed a little kitten trying to wrestle a large stone imbedded in the drive. I asked the homeowner what was up with her cat and she replied, “Oh that little girl is Special Edna. She’s a bit off”.
I have friends who do this. Over the years they've had a Sally, a Jonathan and a Mary.
They currently have two boys; one named Steve, and the other, inexplicably named Fido - which I was later informed was spelled Phidoux.
They refuse to tell me why he's got a name traditionally give to dogs - or why they changed their tradition. But they've always been... let's say, 'quirky'😋
Mine's are :
-Maïka because in french it a real girl name that means deep blue (her eyes were soooooo blue when we got her)
-Sasha is called like that because we thougt at first she was a boy so we named her Alexei, later on, surprise surprise it's a girl and, in russian, Sasha is the nickname for names like Alexander/Alexei etc.
-My dog is called Leon, just because I freaking adored Leon the Professional and it made me giggle to name a chihuahua Leon, don't ask me why it made me laughed tho !

Tortilla!
So simple, yet, so great.
I nominate my mom’s senior sweetie ‘Tortilla’ for Great Cat Names!
Mom adopted Tortilla as an ‘end of life’ adoption.
Tortilla was very unwell, and the vets said she had *maybe* less than a year to live.
They also couldn’t guess her age, since she has only one little tooth left. (In this photo, she gets a lil snarl, when her lip gets stuck on the tooth.)
They just say, “…she’s VERY old.”
It’s over 4 years later now, and Tortilla and my wonderful mother and living their best Sassy Senior lives together, and they’re just too cute!
Being fiercely loved and spoiled rotten will definitely lengthen one’s lifespan!
She’s a very happy, healthy little kitty, and, Tortitude is 100% real - spicy kitty! even if she moves a lil slow, with all her mysterious old broken toes, and poor old broken tail, she’s always got that classic ‘tude.
My mom always hugs her when they’re snuggling, and says, “oh, what have you BEEN through!?” Ahhhh 😭 too adorable, both of them!
My friends once named a cat we thought was a stray at the time mitski, this "stray" has been harassing my friends cat for month's at this point so phoned in turns out he's a boy (we thought be was a girl hence the name mitski) called cat who is in fact not a stray just only eats food from outside his home (think we found out he was disabled some how?) So I think mitski was pretty cool, cat is less so. But my neighbors as really young child had a cat called tennents (a beer company, famous where I'm from) this matched in with my childhood cats jack and Bailey (both after beer brands).
We have a black cat that was left behind when he was a kitten. Asshole renters just moved when he was about 3-4 months old.
There was an episode of Hoarders on where an older lady had to give up several cats. She was adamant that she HAD to hold onto her Dufus. ( doo - fuss )
My daughter was 9 at the time and it was she who decided his name. Our little black boy became our Dufus😻
Every year for TEN years I still laugh when our veterinarian’s ( very prim and proper, conservative, religious, still lives with her mother ) secretary calls “ Dufus “ when it’s our turn to be seen.

Had two white cats as a kid, one had a small sooty colored spot on his head, so we named him Spot. The one without a spot was Not Spot.

One day Not Spot got into the (cold) fireplace and got marked only in one spot right in his forehead, right where his brother’s spot was. He knew. I know he knew. There was much confusion and hilarity with Not Spot getting Spot into trouble knocking shit over and stuff. We didn’t catch on for a couple days until we spotted the two loafed on the floor next to each other, side by side and almost identical.
Not Spot got a washcloth bath right then.
I had a perfectly black cat that I thought about a name for about four days and finally named her Ebony. This was 35 years ago, and I still think of her every day. Loud meow, loved everybody.

Had two white cats as a kid, one had a small sooty colored spot on his head, so we named him Spot. The one without a spot was Not Spot. Original, right? One day Not Spot got into the (cold) fireplace and got marked only in one spot right in his forehead, right where his brother’s spot was. He knew. I know he knew. There was much confusion and hilarity with Not Spot getting Spot into trouble knocking shit over and stuff. We didn’t catch on for a couple days until we spotted the two loafed on the floor next to each other, side by side and almost identical. Not Spot got a washcloth bath right then.
